Senators succumb to salary deduction? Na lie.

Watch next session; how they will come with heavy list on how they dash out money to their constituency. Still an average common man is living in poverty.

These thugs will equally quote the starsh cash they used in their various campaigns.

Afteral, Money was the main essence they went up there.
Abi oh my brother almost all of them went up there becasue of the money. It is high time the country makes all this political post less attractive.

Like.. President and VP earning 200naira monthly and The senators earning 100naira monthly... Then we will be able to identify the true leaders...

"Just like a catalyst, speeding up the rate of a chemical reaction so does PMB speeding up the rate at which our various agency are ready to hit the ground running -- Wapsmart"

It is lucid now that people are ever ready to make this country great again, they are more than ready to follow Baba leads on steming the lingering cancer that has eaten deep into the heart of the country.

I dont know about fear of Buhari but i do know about March4Buhari in which people are currently marching with him to curb this flying menace call corruption.

Baba has swaggered discipline back into the country, starting the war from those occupying political offices to civil society organisation to banks now to our tertiary institution.

The objectives of the workshops were to build the capacity of Nigerian tertiary institutions to develop a culture of integrity in their academic processes, expose participants to corruption prone areas in academic processes, and develop options and responses for tackling academic corruption in the institutions.

The bolded part says it all that corruption in any form is unacceptable, but corruption in tertiary institutions strikes at the very heart of the future of the country and, as such, should be tackled with vigour by all stakeholders concerned.

This will not only help in tackling academic corruption in our various institutions it will also help in putting an end to the activities of those who normally milk admissions seekers in the name of helping them to secure admission.

Corruption must be hewn...

Education514 Tertiary Institutions Storm ICPC Workshops To Stem Corruption. by wapSmart(op):
At a workshop of 514 participants, consisting of Vice-Chancellors, Rectors and Provosts or their representatives; Registrars, Bursars, Directors of Academic Affairs/Academic Planning, Directors of Physical Planning, Directors of Works, Chairpersons of Committee of Deans of Universities, Colleges of Education and Polytechnics, representatives of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and other critical stakeholders have agreed to deal with corrupt practices bedevilling the tertiary institutions.

The workshops organised by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, ACAN, the training arm of ICPC on July 6-10, July 27-30 and August 3-6, 2015 in ICPC Auditorium, Abuja was on Academic Integrity and Entrenching Integrity in Procurement Process of Tertiary Institutions.

Resource persons were drawn from among practitioners and experts conversant with the issues and proven records, including facilitators from the Bureau of Public Procurement, Abuja.

The workshops were organized with the support and co-operation of major stakeholders in the Nigerian tertiary education system including the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), the Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU), Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COHEADS), and the Committee of Provosts of Nigerian Colleges of Education.

The objectives of the workshops were to build the capacity of Nigerian tertiary institutions to develop a culture of integrity in their academic processes, expose participants to corruption prone areas in academic processes, and develop options and responses for tackling academic corruption in the institutions.

It was to significantly reduce, and ultimately eradicate, corruption in the procurement process of tertiary institutions by building the capacity of the accounting officers, procurement professionals and other senior managers of the institutions concerned with procurement matters, in procurement practices and procedures, understanding of the public procurement law and the penalties for infractions, and building their capacity to eradicate corruption in procurement matters at the institutional level.

At the workshops, participants observed that corruption in any form is unacceptable, but corruption in tertiary institutions strikes at the very heart of the future of the country and, as such, should be tackled with vigour by all stakeholders concerned.

Moreover, it was agreed that Academic Integrity is “adherence to a state of high moral principles and professional standards and values in scholarship especially in teaching, learning and research.” Embodied in this definition is honesty and responsibility in scholarship.

According to the participants, commitment to academic integrity implies commitment to five fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility. They said: ‘’Responsibility for ensuring integrity in academic processes lies with all stakeholders in the system not just the principal managers of tertiary institutions. As such, all academic and non-teaching staff should appreciate their role and play their part.’’

It was resolved that the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria should work with the regulatory authorities (NUC for Universities, NBTE for Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Allied institutions, and NCCE for the Colleges of Education), and with the Committees of chief executives of tertiary institutions (Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, Committee of Heads of Polytechnics and Allied Institutions, Committee of Provosts of Nigerian Colleges of Education), to introduce Integrity Ranking for Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Moreover, part of the resolutions by the tertiary executives stated that Nigerian tertiary institutions should develop and sustain a culture of integrity, stressing that a first step should be the development and implementation of contextually-relevant institutional policy or code of academic integrity. It explains that the policy should include institutional definition of academic integrity and clear descriptions of issues which fall under the label.

The institutional policy should be widely disseminated and institutions should conduct workshops to familiarise staff and students with its provisions.

Are the senator hungry?? NO
do they lack clothing?? NO

The wardrobe allowance should first be cancel for it is inconsequential to me or is it not these SIN-A-tor that will use the wardrobe allowance to carry olosho.

To those senators using financial requests from people in their constituencies as an excuse should know that people in their constituecies will also understand that this is not 2014, this is 2015 and things have changed.

These people should know that other senators in other country are surviving without all this emolument so there is no need to bellyache.

A leader is call to serve oh and to serve with everything he/she has and moreso is it not because of the sweet cake and juice you normally get from all this post that makes the country politics a DO or DIE. The moment the country makes it less attractive then we will know maybe you lot will still stick your neck out.
PoliticsSenators Reject Pay Cut Recommendation by wapSmart(op): 1:16am On Aug 13, 2015
ABUJA—SENATE President, Bukola Saraki, appears to be currently in a state of confusion, as his plans to considerably reduce the salaries and allowances of senators apparently hit a brick wall yesterday.

Saraki had, in his early days as Senate President, hinted that his leadership would review downward, the perceived bogus salaries and allowances of senators, saying his decision was in line with the mood of the nation.

The Senate President had constituted an ad-hoc committee on the review of the finance of the Senate for the purposes of cutting cost of governance through downward review of salaries and allowances of senators.

After weeks of deliberations the 10-man committee, chaired by Senator James Manager, PDP Delta South, submitted its report to the senate last week Thursday with recommendations on a slight reduction in the salaries and allowances of senators.

The report, according to a source, recommended a 10 per cent cut in the allowances and salaries of all senators. The report which was to be openly debated on the floor of the Senate yesterday for possible adoption, was stood down for further legislative input after about two hours of closed door session by all the senators on it.

At the resumption of sitting yesterday, Senator Saraki following a closed door session, said that senators agreed to step down the report for further legislative input without giving any reason. But some senators, who later spoke to Vanguard on the issue on the condition that their names must be kept secret, said the report was stood down due to its total rejection by the majority of the senators.

Senators it was learnt, warned that the matter must be cautiously handled. One senator said that though majority of the senators agreed that funny allowances like the monthly N42,000 wardrobe allowance should be cancelled or cut off completely but that many reasoned that substantive statutory emoluments should be sustained in the face of increasing financial requests from constituents and other Nigerians on daily basis.

He said: “Yes, as recommended by the committee, all senators agreed that there must be openness in the Senate budget and by extension, all beneficiary organs of the National Assembly but at the same time, many reasoned that why should we further reduce our budget when already, N30billion has been reduced from the traditional N150 billion that it used to be for all the seven different organs of the National Assembly.

“All of us have people in our constituencies and financial requests from them keep pilling up on daily basis, the reality of which made steps to be redirected, otherwise, some of us may stop coming here.”

However, the Chairman, Senate Ad- Hoc committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye, APC, Kogi West, at a media briefing, explained that the stepping down of the report was done in order to carry the House of Representatives and other organs of the National Assembly along.

According to him, the budget of the Senate was not independent of the entire National Assembly.
He said: “The Senate today, in closed door session, discussed the report of the ad hoc Committee on finances of the Senate, and after due deliberations by the senators, we came to the conclusion that since the budget of the Senate is not independent of the budget of the National Assembly, where the budget of the House of Representatives is also inclusive.

“We have the management, we have the NILS, we have even the Public Accounts, we also have the National Assembly Civil Service Commission, we have agreed that we should consult amongst other arms that share the budget of the NASS, with the House of Representatives before we would draw a conclusion on the report.

So, the resolution is that we are going to interface with the House of Representatives so that we can be on the same page on the report as presented. This is the resolution of the Senate today in closed door session’

Especially The Monster Terrorizing Nigeria(MTN) who have succeded in wrapping many Nigerians around there devil-little-fingers.

The rate at which the Malicious Thief in Nigeria(MTN) keep frustrating there customer never retrogress but keep progressing. What can we say about GLOria, Etisalat and Airtel who have decided to keep sending unnecessary message, to exacerbate matter they will even call someone to start saying some things which is in no way concern someone.

It is so pathetic the rate at which they keep treating there loyal customer, we have try the "bally-hoo" but they cover their ear, we have sent email but they close their eyes as if they didnt see it, we have call but they seems not to be interested in hearing our voice, they are simply telling us to Manage The Network(MTN).

It is so disgusting the rate at which they are Milking The Nation(MTN) no wonder they are getting fat. Thank God they have not succeded in milking us dry.

The Most Terrible Network(MTN) and other network operator in Nigeria have become "sifu" (master) in making someone credit evaporate into thin air.

All this need to stop for it can really make one get berserk especially when waiting for a bank alert and the moment ones phone buzz, you rush to pick the phone hoping to see the bank alert message but what one will see is a message from 3889 telling us how Mourinho sell Cekhiti-Bobo to Wenger instead of Cech.

Good, so long the Federal Government had already identified the critical problems in Nigeria’s power sector and will be taking appropriate step to address the problem, it is also consequential for the government not to rush in providing a short term solution because of pressure from some people who thinks this should be achieve in few days.

Baba should take his time and look critically into the problem bedeviling the power sector and provide a long and lasting solution to the problem.

What is more important now is the expansion of electricity infrastructure to accommodate additional power generation.

Thanks to GEJ for laying the foundation.
