Fantastic trend for the Nigerian Film Industry. Attracting top Hollywood stars and experienced hands in the industry is the way forward. If the goal was to produce a script for a film with 2 -3 parts, it wouldn't attract top names as Andrea Calderwood (Producer), Anika Noni Rose (Kainene), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Odenigbo), Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Author) Biyi Bandele (Director) Thandie Newton (Olanna) Yewande Sadiku (Executive Producer). October 1 is another film I am looking forward to watching. The world has become a small place. Gone are the days of producing stuff for local consumption when we as Nigerians consume Chinese films, etc.

Crime / Nigerian Conmen Gang lured Jobseekers With Fake Harrods Ads As Part Of £1m Scam by Wazobia(m): 3:47pm On Sep 12, 2013
Jobhunters applying for work at Harrods found their bank accounts emptied by computer fraudsters who raked in more than £1million, a court heard yesterday.

Victims thought they were downloading application packs posted by the prestigious west London store on Gumtree.

Instead they were infecting their computers with a bug programmed by a so-called IT whizzkid on behalf of Nigerian conmen, the Old Bailey heard.

Jobseekers who found their computers hacked had their bank accounts ransacked and lost up to £4,700 each.

The alleged fraudsters were only caught when Harrods’ security boss was alerted to the fake ads and he investigated.

Nairaland / General / R &B Star D’banj Is On Front Cover Of London Evening Standard by Wazobia(m): 8:57pm On Oct 04, 2012
Nigeria is on the Spotlight: R&B star D’Banj and Fashion designer Duro Olowu grace the front cover of London Evening Standard today.
R&B star D’Banj and London based Nigerian fashion designer Duro Olowu are positively changing the image of Nigeria abroad....thanks guys.
Now who says nothing good can come from Nigerians. To be honest with you, the earlier our business men and women in Nigeria begin to see the opportunities of investing in sports and entertainment in Nigeria, it will do a whole lot of good for the reputation of the ‘GIANT’ of Africa.
The influential London Evening Standard in its first of a series focusing on London’s vibrant communities debuted with the most populated black nation in the world as it sheds its SPOTLIGHT ON NIGERIA.
Read below as Jessica Lambert gets the lowdown on London’s capital’s ‘Little Lagos’.....
I must say Jessica, it was a witty write up....are you sure you aren’t dating a naija guy? lol

Size:
93,000 Nigerian-born Londoners in 2011, says the Office for National Statistics.

Favourite parts of London:
Mostly south — Clapham, Peckham, Camberwell — but also Hackney, Swiss Cottage and Kilburn.

Age:
More than 200 years old — the earliest Nigerians to arrive in London came here as a result of the slave trade. More recently a lot of Nigerians emigrated here in the 1960s.

Okay, but that was still a while ago. Tell me something that’s happening right now:
The Nigerian Carnival will be buzzing with fabulous costumes, music and food in Kennington Park on October 20.

Sounds like the Notting Hill Carnival:
Yes, but that took place in the long forgotten summer. This one’s in just two weeks’ time.

What if I can’t wait that long to dance to some Nigerian beats?
You could head down to south London’s Club Zanzibar. But you’ve probably been dancing to a lot of Nigerian music if you’ve been in any R&B clubs recently.

Oh yeah, like what?

Oliver Twist, the electro and Afro-Beats dance track from D’banj, was No 2 in the R&B charts this summer.
I love that song!

You’re just saying that because you want to sound young and hip, aren’t you?

No comment. Let’s go back to the food. Where’s good?

Fashion / FASHION OR RACISM - Are These Dolce & Gabbana Earrings Racist? – You Decide. by Wazobia(m): 7:25am On Sep 29, 2012
Designer label Dolce & Gabbana has been accused of racism for its earrings shaped into the head of a black woman.
Models at its spring/summer 2013 show on Sunday at Milan Fashion Week wore plastic earrings shaped into the head of a black woman. The image also appeared on several dresses, tops and skirts. "For whatever reason, a black woman wasn't fit to be in the show; but she could certainly be used-exploited- as a form of decoration on a white model, in a white show, for a white company." Fashion / Simi Osomo Flies To The UK From Nigeria Six Times A Year To Spend £5,000 A Time by Wazobia(m): 11:22pm On Sep 28, 2012
£30,000 a year addiction to London... how Nigerians are becoming big spenders.
Every year, Simi Osomo makes six trips to London from Nigeria. The 25-year-old spends about two weeks here and every day she goes shopping. Today she’s at the boutique shop Matches Townhouse in Marylebone with a personal shopper. “When it comes to shopping and Nigerians, I can tell you it’s just what we have to do,” she tells me while admiring the patterned dresses.
For Nigerians, London is a shopping mecca. Visitors from the West African country are the UK’s fourth biggest foreign spenders, parting with an average of £500 in each luxury shop they visit — four times what UK shoppers typically spend. When I ask Osomo how much a two-week shopping trip in London costs she makes a bashful face. “Ooh, should I really be saying this? It depends, but most times about £5,000.”

Entertainment / Nigerian Born Rough Copy Band Member Kazeem Ajobe Kicked Off X Factor. by Wazobia(m): 7:04am On Sep 25, 2012
Band member Kazeem Ajobe was told he would not be allowed to re-enter the UK if he went to the Judges' House stage abroad.
Three-piece boyband Rough Copy have already been filmed taking this year’s competition by storm and get through to the Judges’ Houses stage of the show.
They have now been dramatically axed after it emerged singer Kazeem Ajobe would not be allowed back into Britain if he leaves the country because he doesn’t have a visa.
Last night Kazeem, 23, who was born in Nigeria but lives in South London along with fellow band members Sterling Ramsay, 24 and Joseph Thomas, 25, said: “We are gutted that we have had to leave the competition as we were having such a great time.
“Hopefully, if everything is OK with my visa, we can apply again next year.”
Kazeem recently submitted an application for leave to remain in the UK which is currently being considered by the UK Border Agency.
But he left it too late to travel to the judges’ houses – which are all abroad – and was told he would not be allowed to re-enter the country.

The London Paralympic Games opened on Wednesday night and Nigeria was represented. It is set to be an inspiring 11 days of watching deformed, turned athletes show the world that nothing is impossible.
It was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who said “you can’t win unless you learn how to lose”.
These Athletes have suffered deformity that would have killed abled-body, however, they have learnt to come to terms with their loss. Basically, these Athletes have learnt to lose.
I am looking forward to watching blind footballers play 5 a-side football. I have also found out that there is wheel chair Rugby, how about that….wheel chair rugby, huh!
There also will be one legged swimmers, as well as amputee Volleyball players competing like its normal. I know that, after this paralympic games, my challenges will become insignificant.

African Olympics Village closes down amidst huge debts.

What a total disgrace.

Read on.
The hospitality centre for African nations competing in the Olympics has had to close because of unpaid debts, a spokesman has confirmed.
According to the BBC, Africa Village communications director Laurent Bagnis said the Africa Village, set up in Kensington Gardens, West London, owes suppliers hundreds of thousands of pounds owes suppliers hundreds of thousands of pounds.
He said an exact figure was not yet known.
A meeting is to be held to establish whether the venue can open later for its Tunisia Day.
It is the first time at an Olympic Games that the 53 African national Olympic Committees have come together to host one, specially dedicated house.
Located opposite the Royal Albert Hall, it has an exhibition area and restaurant open to the public and a reception area for Games officials, athletes and sponsors.
Since it opened on 28 July it has received 80,000 visitors, said communications director Mr Bagnis.
He said it had closed on Wednesday, adding a meeting was going to be held to “solve the situation”.
Asked if reports that £395,000 is owed are correct, he said: “We have a lot of figures. I don’t know which is right at the moment.”
Tunisia Day was supposed to feature a line-up of live music.
I thought Nigeria is a sorry case (watch out for my post Olympics rambling, I can assure you it would be worth a read) beyond you know what, but then again Nigeria is in the continent of Africa. Bloody disgraceful….

Yes, anybody will say, yet another MLM company, but they fail to realise a car is a car with 4 wheels, yet cars differ in so many ways. It amuses me when anyone waves away an opportunity without investigating inorderwards to make an informed decision.

So, Bayfam, it's networking with a difference and I can coach you and tell you how to run it. My email s gbgjide@gmail.com.

I hope I was able to answer your question. grin

God bless.

By the way , there is no joining on fee.
There is no compulsory stocking of prducts.
There is no annual renewal fee.
You can upgrade to leadership level instead of having to depend on the number of people your team members will invite.
All this, if you are interested is to indicate your interest after buying the flagship 10-in-1 Vitamins Product for less than N10,000 and you will be registered and a website will be yours free of charge.

Business / Re: I Have 10k To Invest Online by Wazobia(m): 12:47pm On Apr 05, 2012
HONESTLY, you want to invest just N10k online to start a business. Where have all you guys been.

Now check out GBG, - http://www.onlyatgbg.com/Africa/jidesalu - the first Christian MLM that arrived in Nigeria on Monday (2nd April 2012).

The real story is that since I have involved in Network Marketing, a model, I truely believe has been founded for Aficans because of our natural entrepreneurial abilities, I have never seen a compensation plan this real.

Stuart Finger and Michael Kahn ( please check these guys out) designed a compensation plan that has been copyrighted, yes patented. This simply means that it is unique to members, and I am already benefitting from the design.

My names are Jide Salu (yes, you can check me out as well). Click on http://www.onlyatgbg.com/africa/jidesalu to make an informed decision.

All I promise is that, I will coach you on how you will make it work. It is like no other business currently running in the Network marketing sector.

Once again, it's up to you. Send me an email at gbgjide@gmail.com.

By your mail, I will know how serious you are.

http://www.onlyatgbg.com/Africa/jidesalu is the site to go to.

Good luck and remember.....

"If you ever think you can start treating people like a number you will never succeed in network marketing. People are your product - pure and simple. It is your duty as a network marketer to do just one thing and that is assist others to achieve their dreams."

GBG IS IN NIGERIA - 1st Christian MLM

The site to check out to make an informed decision is http://www.onlyatgbg.com/africa/jidesalu

Opportunities such as this, and I mean genuine opportunities like that of GBG do not come very often. Atimes, it comes disguised like something you have heard of or seen before.

Most times, those not looking will dismiss it with discontent. However, those that are hungry for success, those who are currently looking because they are either dissatisfied at where they are or are not even in a paid employment will see opportunities, but whether they will take advantage is another matter.

GBG, an American company stands for "GUIDED BY GOD". Yes, you could say that the founder is a Christian Multimillionaire . His name is Stuart Finger, along with co founder Michael Kahn, are the brains behind GBG. As far as I am concerned, you need to check out the integrity of these guys. It's an opportunity I can not over emphasise its importance that has graced our shores.

It arrived Nigeria on Monday, 2nd of April. It's been anticipated for many months by Nigerians in the know. GBG is in operation in America, Canada, Ghana and now Nigeria.

For further information, you can click or go to this link http://www.onlyatgbg.com/africa/jidesalu

All I will add to what I have already written is this.....the era of working 9am to 5pm is fast eroding. The world economy suggests that many more will be unemployed and stay unemployed, however, much more will seek alternative means of living and that is by taking advantage of this century's technological vehicle - the Internet. I am not about convincing, it's not my style. Why on earth would I want to convince anyone to start a business that would give him an opportunity to have a fabulous holiday, if what he or she loves to do is to struggle to make ends meet because that is the conventional method.

"The thoughts that took you to where you are WILL NOT take you to where you are going".

I will be available 24/7 to assist, guide and coach you on your journey to success. I can be contacted at gbgjide@gmail.com. Your email will speak volumes about your seriousness. Good luck and God bless.
Business / Network Marketing In Africa - Grossly Overlooked by Wazobia(m): 1:26am On Mar 23, 2012
This is a rejoinder to CHIKA UWAZIE'S articled titled - Learning the Art of Networking.

As a networker since the early 90s, I can relate to some of her networking tips. My point of writing this articl is to further highlight this huge marketing sector that I have always believed is designed for Africans.

Think of it this way, we Africans love to sell. We are naturally amiable set of homosapiens. We see something good, we have no qualms about announcing it, unbeknown to us though that we have inadvertently advertised the business for free. We get a clean hair cut, our friends notice and we immediately direct them to the barbers, giving precise description of the location. The ladies stumbled on a shop and got a fantastic bargain, what does she go and do, of course she calls her friends and lo and behold spends a considerable amount of time gisting about how good the products are, how inexpensive (not cheap o.....lol) generally the goods are and how damn polite the cashiers were to her. Now you tell me,wouldn't her friends visit the shop out of curiosity ? And guess what, she did all that, enthusiastically without getting paid for it? God Almighty!

My friends, yes it's not unique to Africans alone, but Aricans are mostly seen to be the more expressive ones when compared with our brothers and sisters from other continents.

What am I saying?

What I am saying is this; we are quick to jump to conclusions about what we read, especially on the Internet about a profession such as MLM or NETWORK MARKETING. Check this out, at least no one can accuse me of making this up...this is what this great author had to say about Network Marketing. He said "If I had to do it all over again, rather than build an old style type of business, I would have started building a network marketing business." by the way that Quote was by Robert T. Kiyosak.

If you want to call your own shots in life, if you’re willing to get the education you will need to run a small business, if you enjoy working with people, then network marketing just might be right kind of business for you. With the economy the way it is today, working from home makes more sense then acquiring a second job in order to make ends meet. And thats if you can find one.

Guess what, I have come to replace Network Marketing with RELATIONSHIP MARKETING. You have relationships with friends, colleagues and family and your old pals at school and all that you benefit from each other is attending parties? It really baffles me that with your capability of inviting hundreds of people to a party, with each of your friend doing the same, can you just imagine how choker blocker the party would turn out? And what happens at the end? Well, the same as always, every body eats, spends money on gifts and talk on top of their voices through the loud noise. Benefits - well you had a great time. What else, well you spent a great deal of time organising an event that will not yield any financial income. Don't get me wrong,I am not trying to be anti party here, all I am attempting to get across is that we can employ the same methods to empower and enrich ourselves and our community.

We all know what the Global economy is telling us, and guys it is not looking bright at all. In Nigeria we have graduates that are cleaners. I personally spoke with one and had to motivate her to believe all hope was not lost. She was recruited in the sales team if the company that hadn't sold for a couple of years. The cleaner of the company left and she chose to take up the role for a ccombined salary of N15,000 ($94) a month. The same pay as a security staff at one of the fast food joints here in Lagos. I approached him on seeing how dejected he was gazing, and when I engaged him, he revealed his N15k salary to me.

The value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all. This is my passion. This is what a lot of Africans have ignored and over looked.

We are now in an era where the Internet is king. Almost everything is at our finger tips. The excuses are drying up. For those of us who have relationships, think outside the box and consider checking out how you all can come together for a mutual benefit.

The real key to network marketing success is to have many people to talk to on a daily basis regardless of age and financial status.   Be patient and don’t take it personally when you get “No” for an answer — just move on to the next person.

One final tip, the heart of a solid company involved in Network Marketing is based on three ingredients for long term success. They are;
1. Owners that mean what they say and say what they mean.
2. Products cannot be overpriced
3. A compensation plan where EVERYONE gets paid.

It's time to think outside the box and reconsider this marketing sector that has over 13 million Americans benefitting (source DSA).

My name is Jide Salu.

If you need further information on how you want to be a part of a company I truely believe in, a company that has you and I in mind, a company that will empower you as a business owner and a company that will not require you to pay thousands of Naira, then feel free to contact me at gbgjide@gmail.com.
