SportFm:
says ‘No point sitting on a keg of gunpowder’

Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Lagos State, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popular as Jandor, has dismissed possibility of forming an alliance with his counterpart of the Labour Party, LP, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

There have been speculations that Labour Party is working towards forming an alliance to ouster the ruling party in the state following the LP’s unprecedented victory in the February 25 presidential poll in the state.

However, Jandor has laid the speculations to rest, saying when his “project” started years ago, it was beyond a desire to become governor.

Jandor stated this while speaking in a live interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.

He said, “If it’s to be governor, I could have been governor where I was coming from, but I chose this route.”

The PDP governorship candidate noted that when talks of an alliance began “flying around,” the PDP tabled the matter, “even though we [Gbadebo and I] haven’t sat together to discuss it”.

He added, “We came ourselves to look at the issue and say, ‘Within us, what do we want to do? Do we want to put an end to a dynasty that has held us by the jugular for over two decades? Where do we go from here?’”

According to him, the party decided to analyse every issue critically.

He stated further, “We now discovered that the Labour Party candidate still has a case on his candidacy which is currently at the Supreme Court, we looked at it again that the Labour Party candidate also has an issue with Section 77 of the Electoral Act;

“Which says if you’re leaving a particular party to another one, you must have been there, at least, for one month, that is, the party register would have been with INEC 30 days before that party primary.”

Jandor noted that legal issue could come up in post-election litigation, saying he would rather not be “sitting on a keg of gunpowder”.

He added, “For us, we don’t have a problem, we would have said [to Rhodes-Vivour], ‘Go [on], let’s just take this [APC] government.

“But knowing full well who we’re dealing with; we know the kind of character we’re dealing with, we know what can happen – there’s no point sitting on a keg of gunpowder.

“So, for us, we want an alliance; we don’t have any issue with it. But we must put our best foot forward. We must make sure that we go into this election without any snag whatsoever.”

PDP Spent Over 400bn On Presidential Election - Dino Melaye.
In the one minute 45 seconds video, the Melaye said that the whole concept of redesigning the naira was a deception.
Senator Dino Melaye, the Chief Spokesperson for the Atiku-Okowa presidential council, has made a new revelation.
He said the Peoples Democratic Party presidential campaign council spent over N400billion on their campaigns.
The spokesperson disclosed this in a video obtained by the PUNCH on Monday night.
In the one minute 45 seconds video, the Melaye said that the whole concept of redesigning the naira was a deception.
This is coming hours after the PDP leadership led by Senator Iyorchia Ayu, and other party chieftains stormed the headquarters of INEC to protest the declaration of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, as the president-elect after the February 25, 2023 elections.

The PDP, Labour Party, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party rejected the election results describing the election as being marred by violence, rigging, lacking integrity by the non-uploading of the presidential results on the IRev portal in real time on the election day thereby calling for its cancellation among others.

The PDP had also lamented what it described as the irregularities recorded during the conduct of the elections.

Melaye further remarked that “to make sure that the mandate of the people given freely to Atiku Abubakar is retrieved, we spent over N400bn just for a caricature show. INEC deceived Nigerians.

On the naira redesign, the spokesperson alleged that “because money was given to Bola Tinubu, the APC shared new notes on Election Day across the country and the PDP was starved of funds. Naira redesign was a ploy by INEC to deceive Nigerians.

He also called on all PDP supporters, lovers of democracy all over the country not to allow this to stand.

Politics › Re: BREAKING: Governorship And State Houses Of Assembly Election May Not Hold by Wealthoptulent(m): 1:43pm On Mar 07, 2023
iTommysco:
The Governorship and State Houses of Assembly election scheduled to hold March 11 may not hold except the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, vacated the order of the election petition tribunal restricting the commission from tempering with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines.

This was disclosed by an election observer group, Coalition of Civil Societies for Good Governance through its Coordinator, Olufemi Lawson while addressing journalists in Osogbo on Monday..

The Presidential candidates of both the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Labour Party, had approached the election petition tribunal to seek an order restraining INEC from tempering with the BVAS machines pending the inspection of the machines and other documents used for the presidential election.
However, Lawson, who was flanked by Comrade Ayo Ologun, a leader of one of the groups, said unless the electoral umpire approached the tribunal to vacate the order, it will be difficult for the commission to reconfigure the BVAS machines for the polls scheduled for Saturday.
According to him, with the present situation, INEC is faced with two options; to seek to postpone the election or decided not to use BVAS, which eventually will lead us back to the days of the electoral heist.

“The present situation is such that needs serious attention from both the commission and other stakeholders, particularly, politicians. If INEC did not vacate the order of the tribunal granted PDP and Labour Party, it would not be able to reconfigure BVAS machines for Saturday Governorship and Houses of Assembly election. It is either INEC postpone the poll, proceed without BVAS or seek legal option to vacate the order”.

Ologun, while fielding questions from journalists, opined that the INEC must work to ensure that infractions witnessed during the presidential election did not repeat themselves again this time.

“INEC as a body must put its house in order to ensure that actions capable of undermining the electoral process are adequately and effectively checked. Nigerians must not be taken for granted again”, he added

Ournolly:
NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF LABOUR PARTY, COMRADE JULIUS ABURE, DISSOLVES THE LABOUR PARTY STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF RIVERS STATE
Comrade Julius Abure has dissolved the Labour Party State Executive Council of Rivers State with immediate effect, for gross anti-party activities and
corruption in the management of Labour Party funds.

The National Chairman believes that it's in the interest of Labour Party and the Obidient movement in Rivers State that those who were at the helm of affairs in Rivers State when our presidential mandate was openly stolen in Rivers State should step aside until full investigation is completed on what happened on that day.

The National Chairman has lost confidence in the ability of the compromised State Executive Council led by Mr Deinye Pepple to lead the campaign for the gubernatorial and ... State House of Assembly elections come March 11th.
He urges all Obidients in Rivers State to disregard every comment made by the disgraced State Chairman of the Labour Party, Deinye Pepple, on the election of March 11th and reiterates the full backing of the Labour Party.... on the candidacy of Comrade Beatrice Itubo of the Labour Party as the next Governor of Rivers State.

He therefore enjoins all Obidients to come out massively on March 11th to vote for Comrade Beatrice Itubo of Labour Party.

Thank you and God bless.

Politics › Oyo Lp Collapse Structure To Support Gov Seyi Makminde Gsm Of Pdp by Wealthoptulent(op): 2:12am On Mar 06, 2023
Ahead of the March 11 governorship and the house of assembly elections in Oyo State, the Labour Party, LP in the state has endorsed the re-election bid of Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The development came hours after some support groups of Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of the All Progressives Congress APC, threw their weight behind the re-election of Makinde.
LP at a press conference held at its state headquarters in Ibadan on Sunday announced that the party adopted the governor, based on the same ideology the governor shared with the party.

…I remain Oyo LP gov candidate – Akinwale

Controversy has trailed the purported endorsement of Governor Seyi Makinde by the Labour Party for reelection in Oyo State.

Reports have it that the Chairman of the Labour Party in the state, Mr. Sadiq Atayese, endorsed Makinde during a news conference at the party office, Molete, Ibadan on Sunday.

He said Makinde was endorsed due to the similarity of ideology, competence, compassion for the masses and numerous achievements of the governor in many sectors.

He said, “The last presidential election was keenly contested by the three major parties in the country and the result of the election as announced by INEC shows that Labour Party is a force to reckon with.

“The result of the presidential election in Oyo State is similar to that. While the result of the election in its entirety is still a subject of contention, the takehome of the election is that a third force party that emerged barely a year ago has grown to become a strong force because of the quality of its candidate.

“Having considered this, in the upcoming election in our dear state, we have decided to support a candidate with the character, competence, and capacity to lead and who is also concerned about the wellbeing of the citizens as it is obvious that no party can win the governorship election alone.

Judek2:
Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress candidate for president in the recently held presidential election, has voiced his displeasure with the election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday. Remember that on Wednesday, INEC chairman Mahmoud Yakubu declared Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, as the winner of the Saturday election after defeating the other 17 candidates.

However, Omoyele Sowore alleged that the presidential candidate, particularly in Lagos State was not free and fair, just the way Nigerians see it because the APC intentionally allowed Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate to win while there was busy rigging the election elsewhere. He continued by saying that the APC successfully fooled Nigerians and made it look as if the APC was defeated in their strongest holds. Additionally, he emphasized that the aim of the APC was to deceive Nigerians, but that he possessed all necessary evidence and would present it to Nigerians to see at the right time.

Hear him, "APC left Lagos election for them (LP) while they were rigging the election elsewhere so that you can have that feeling that the election was a free and fair election and that the opposition defeated the regulars on their toughs. This was the strategy that the APC used to fool those who get easily fooled by this, but I have proofs".

Yorubalandlord:
The flag bearer of the Labour Party (LP) in Nigeria’s just-concluded presidential election, Peter Obi has empowered an unemployed Nasarawa graduate, Gimba Sophia Emmanuel in her aspiration to acquire an oven and start her baking and confectionery business.

Obi, in a social media post on Saturday, said Emmanuel indicated that she would procure a Nigerian-made oven, thus enhancing the value chain and putting into effect the production-to-consumption philosophy of the Labour Party.

The former Anambra State governor presented a cheque to Emmanuel to procure an oven.

On Thursday, Obi was teary-eyed as he lamented the sufferings of young Nigerians in the country. He had narrated his encounter with Emmanuel who works as a tea maker.

“She has no job, she graduated since 2018. She told me she is learning how to bake. Then I asked her why she is not baking instead of coming here to do this, she said she doesn’t have N75,000 to buy an oven. That is the life you get in Nigeria; people who don’t have N75,000 to buy an oven,” he had said.
