Patrick J. Onoriode (Onos JP) specially invites you to his books launch. [Date: 31st October, 2015] [Venue: Effurun-Otor Town Hall] [Time: 12pm prompt, No Africa time] The book is titled 'Oga Landlord' it's about Mr. Akpors and his tenant. Everyone, Yes! I mean everyone that has ever read the book said the book is very interesting. Let me drop just the first chapter so that you imagine what i'm saying. CHAPTER ONE The Landlord, Mr. Ukor opened the letter and discovered it was from Akpors, his tenant. He read silently the letter nicely written in Pidgin English. ''Dear Oga Landlord, Abeg neva vex say i neva fit pay my rent for like 3 months now. Abeg, exercise small patience.'' Mr. Akpors ''Make I exercise patience wen i nor get patience? Mtcheeew!'' Mr. Ukor mumbled and hissed. He got angry but for the fact that Mr. Akpors had already written him a letter to plead for the delay in paying his rent, he kept calm. One Sunday afternoon, as Mr. Ukor, generally known by his tenants as 'Oga Landlord’ was entering his compound, he heard a song being sang by Mr. Akpors in his room. He listened with all attentiveness to the lyrics of the song Mr. Akpors was singing: ''I don get alert na Godwin, And I don pay my rent na Godwin Anything I do na Godwin o, na Godwin oo, na Godwin ooo...'' As Mr. Akpors was still singing, Mr. Ukor left for his apartment opposite Mr. Akpors' room in the compound, with the hope that Mr. Akpors would pay his rent soon. ''Six good days have passed and this yeye tenant that calls himself Akpors has not paid his rent, I taught I heard him singing about recieving an alert, he even claimed to have paid his rent. Hmmm, this man is playing with fire oooo, he thinks he is the only one from Ughelli eeh? I will show him that I am a typical Urhobo too'' Mr. Ukor murmured silently. Few minutes from Mr. Ukor's soliloquy, he heard Akpors sweeping his frontage. Mr. Ukor quickly brought out some of his dirty clothes outside and pretended he had planned to wash. He began to sing his own version of the song Mr. Akpors sang few days back. ''Shey you say you don get alert na Godwin, And you never pay your rent na Godwin, But u dey claim say you don pay na Godwin, Anything you do na Godwin o, na Godwin oo, na Godwin ooo...'' as he was still singing, Akpors interrupted him by greeting him: ''Migwo Oga Landlord'' ''Vrendoooh, Akpors, how are you doing?'' Mr. Ukor asked. ''Fine oooo, Oga Landlord, I am just managing ooo'', Mr. Akpors replied. ''Alright'' exclaimed Mr. Ukor. In less than a minute, Mr. Ukor continued with his song. ''Abeg try and pay your rent na Godwin And I don increase all the rents na Godwin, And na one year I dey collect na Godwin, Anything I do na Godwin o, na Godwin oo, na Godwin ooo...'' As he was still singing, Mr. Akpors quickly disappeared from the scene. He knew there was fire on the mountain and needed not to be told that his landlord was not happy with the delay in paying his rent for some months now. : FIDELIS SORIWEI The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced an investigation into the administration of Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan. Investigations on Wednesday revealed that a team of operatives attached to the Economic Governance Unit of the commission was entrusted with the responsibility of looking into the account books of the Delta State Government under Uduaghan. A reliable source disclosed to our correspondent that some officials of the state government would appear before the commission to answer questions in relation with alleged economic crimes next week. It was learnt that some former commissioners and principal officers of the state’s seventh House of Assembly would be invited by the commission for interrogation. The source said that one of the principal officers of the House was at the commission’s headquarters last week. It was gathered that the team investigating the immediate past Delta State administration had not invited the former governor. It was gathered that Uduaghan’s invitation would be determined by the outcome of the investigation of the invited officials. “It is not true that Uduaghan and his aides were quizzed by the commission. Even his aides have not even been quizzed. The commission has invited some of the officials who served under the former governor. Some of them are commissioners and others are principal officers of the House of Assembly. “Only one of the principal officers (name withheld) has appeared and left. The others are expected next week. The governor was not invited. He can only be invited after the interrogation of the officials involved. For now, he is out of it.” When our correspondent contacted the Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, to comment on the story, he said he had not been briefed about the said investigation. Uduaghan had in May denied an allegation by a group which accused him of embezzling over N200bn which was appropriated to the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission. The group, under the aegis of the Delta Youths for Good Governance and Anti- Corruption and Integrity Forum had alleged that the governor had embezzled the money and was speeding up plans to scrap the commission before leaving office on May 29, 2015. The leader of the forum, Prince Kpokpogri, alleged that some members of the state Seventh House of Assembly connived with the governor to secure N40bn bond. Speaking through his Communications Manager, Paul Odili, Uduaghan, had, however, said the allegations were false and mischievous. Odili said, “People are just heaping all kinds of allegations against the person of the governor. How can the governor take such a huge amount of money? It is cheap blackmail because the governor has the interest of Deltans at heart and he cannot do that. That allegation is ridiculous and from an ignorant mind.” Source: http://www.punchng.com/news/efcc-begins-probe-of-uduaghan-administration/ Plagiarised by: Onos JP

DELTA GUBER ELECTION: Ogboru Floors Okowa, PDP in Court *****PDP Hopes Have Evaporated and Their Loss Will Manifest in the Tribunals-Duku —–By Onitsha Shedrack—-DELTA— The Delta State Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the 2015 governorship election, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, today floored the Governors of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and the Party, at the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, as the trial Judge dismissed the Okowa and PDP case describing them as “meddlesome interlopers in the internal affairs of other parties.” It would be recalled that before the governorship election held on April 11, 2015, Sen. Okowa and the Delta State PDP has rushed to the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba asking the Court to disqualify all LP’s candidates from contesting election in the state and nullify their elections (if already elected) saying that the Party (LP) did not conduct it primaries according to law. However, today, “the Court dismissed PDP’s action, describing PDP and its Delta State Chairman as meddlesome interlopers in the internal affairs of other parties. The Court advised them to go to the Election Tribunal to take issues with LP not the Federal High Court.” In a press statement made available to ADVOCATE, a chieftain of the LP and a senior aide to Chief Ogboru, Mr Efe Duku stated that, “this victory for LP has serious negative multiplier effects for PDP’s unholy calculations in the Election Tribunals. They have placed heavy reliance on the case in their pleadings in the Election Tribunals. Now, their hopes have evaporated and the loss will manifest in the Tribunals. We need not say more for now. He added that, “we salute our Leader, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru – a man who never gives up on what is right for society. We must also thank Obaisi (Barr.) Ovie Omo-Agege; for his vigilance in attending to this action and of course, we must salute Hon (Chief) Evance Ivwurie for taking careful legal and advisory steps from the beginning to cage the PDP in this matter. And, to all we must say, Thank you for being steadfast in the promise of a better Delta where our leaders are those truly elected by our people.” Source: http://www.advocateng.com/delta-guber-election-ogboru-floors-okowa-pdp-in-court-pdp-hopes-have-evaporated-and-their-loss-will-manifest-in-the-tribunals-duku/
