Here’s an example of Zik’s mastererful use of his Oratorical skills, believe me I wont want 2 be at d end of one of those.

“It is the mere ranting of an ant”
Chuba Okadigbo(1981) then political adviser to Pres. Shehu Shagari, dismissing Nnamdi Azikiwe's complaints of election fraud.

Zik to Okadigbo –
“My boy, may you live to your full potential, ascend to as dizzy a height as is possible for anyone of your political description in your era to rise. May u be acknowledged world wide as u rise like an eagle atop trees, flota among the clouds, preside over the affairs of fellow men , As leaders of all countries pour into Ngr to breath into her ear. But then, Chuba,if it is not the tradition of our people that elders are roundly insulted by young men before tie world as you have unjustly done to me, may your reign come to an abrupt and shattering close. As you look ahead, Chuba, as u see the horizon, dedicating a great marble palace that is the envy of the world, toasted by the most powerful men in the land, may the great big hand of fate snatch it all away from you. Just as it appears as if nothing can possibly go awry, Chuba, as you look forward to hosting the worlds most powerful leader and shaking his hand, as you begin to smell the recognition and leadership of the Igbo people, may the crown fall off your head and your political head off your shoulders. None of my words will come to pass, Chuba until u have risen to the very height of your power and glory and health, but then u will b hounded and humiliated and disgraced out of office, your credibility and name in tatters forever.

Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe reacting to Chuba Okadigbos 'ranting of an ant'. . .

Funny enough, it all happened like he said!

@OP and his butt followers.
U guys r nothing but a bunch of pathetic Louts! I'm not surprised u cant conceal your sorry characters nor your unbelievably low IQ. Uduaghan won the election fair and square and if thats too much 4 u and your fellow demented Urhobo Supremacists to stomach, then u can go jump into the Effurun River - I'm sure d fishes there av neva tasted Human louts b4.
I'm seriously praying GEJ looses d entire Urhobo votes in April so by d time he wins, u guys wld understand what it means 2 be politically irrelevant 2 a ruling party. Ekpas

Tough one. I didnt meet the great Zik in his elements but some of his speeches and quotes i've come across leave me in no doubt as to the depth of his oratorical skills. I doubt any Nigerian leader past or present can match him (No sentiments).
As for charisma, you'lld have to look outside the border and even there, they r quite few but i think if you can look past his eccentricities Muammar Ghadaffi would be a strong contender and perhaps J J Rawlings. Thomas Sankara and co. I know not.
Politics › Re: Official Thread::: Delta State Election Rerun by wesley80(m): 3:24pm On Jan 09, 2011
We've been goin thru dis debate 4 sometime now and I dont know if I still have d stomach 4 it. But pls let me say this, the election was by no means perfect, a situation where Uduaghan cld score over 50,000 in an LG while Ogboru's highest hovers around 18,000 shld set INEC Upon enquiry but fact is Uduaghan had the ability 2 mobilise while Ogboru didnt so he deserves d benefit of doubt until it's proven otherwise.
If the election was rigged in d scale u're insisting, how come the state Deputy Gov cld not deliver even he's LG but lost out to DPP? How come Ogboru won in Ukwani(His mom is from Obiaruku), Ndokwa West(His deputy Tilije is from here) and Oshimili (His wife's LG)? How come Ogboru polled over 10000 in Uvwie LG that has a PDP Chairman and legislators and with undeniable govt presence and efforts while PDP struggled to attain 2000 in an election that was rigged by it? Just a few questions.
D rational deduction is dat Ogboru won in areas he was popular (Urhobo/Isoko land and Ukwani/Oshimili where d people had obvious interests)and lost woefully in other areas cos he neva even bothered 2 campaign. If anything, Ogboru outdid his expectations and has a solid ground 2 build on come April.Lets face it, Electoral fraud or not Uduaghan still wld have won cos d opposition had a myopic strategy.Voters in places like Uvwie and Abraka have neva had it dis good - To have voted and see their votes count.in d past wen they were disenfranchised our cries were neva heard, so to cry wolf in an election where we had freedom 2 vote and see them counted becos of a few isolated incidents is so so unfair.

@Monkeylg.
R u done venting? Of course u have to. Now lets tackle the real issues. Didnt your vote count? Where u intimidated to vote against your choice? What LG where u expecting Ogboru 2 win that he actually lost? What LG did u expect Uduaghan to lose that he won? Lets separate the issues pls, we r discussing d election not Uduaghan's achievement.

Maybe u should do us all a favour by going thru some of d initial posts on this thread. U'lld be doin us a favour. I gave updates from the start till when votes were counted in my station so your quertion is so out of place.

@Oseman,
You made a very solid point about our media houses. No doubt they were complete failures as far as the coverage was concerned. I watched Channels on saturday trying to analyse the elections with a pathetic and uninformed panel of discussants that had absolutely no clue about Delta state politics and its dynamics. Worse was the anchor who chose to lead each argument displaying total ineptitude and unprofessionalism. Sometimes u just have to wonder if these guys never get to watch their mates outside the country.
@9ja4eva, Elections r due in 3 months time at the expiration of Uduaghan's tenure.

Apart from a few minor lapses, they got this election right. The facts are clear as any honest and objective person will admit. Stop this mud throwing and tell your folks to prepare better for the coming elections.

@Sochan, Sochan, Sochan.
I see its your nature to thrive in d midst of ignorance and naivety. No sooner is your foolishness is brought to d fore in a thread than u scurry like some frightened rat 2 d next thread infested with d likes of those u can only co-habit with.
A few questions 4 u b4 I whoop yr tailed backside;
1) R u a Deltan?
2) Do u live in Delta state?
3) Have u ever moved across d senatorial districts to get a feel of what people think?
4) Did u vote?
5) Did u make an attempt 2 move around on election day 2 see what was happening?
Politics › Re: Pdp Wins In Delta State by wesley80(m): 4:05pm On Jan 07, 2011
A deserved victory but one that didnt come easily. Despite obvious irregularities, the final result was a reflection of d will of the 'Majority' of Deltans.
A huge improvement from elections in the past and finally, peoples votes counted -at least mine did- and it was peaceful in most areas. There's still a lot to be perfected but all in all, Jega gets my thumbs up. Great Job.
Politics › Re: Official Thread::: Delta State Election Rerun by wesley80(m): 1:29pm On Jan 07, 2011
@Sochan,
No my friend, it is ignorant folks like u and the dozens of Okada men in the streets spoiling for war that r d problem. In a democratic election, the minority have their say while d majority have their way and thats exactly what has happened. Ogboru got his tactics wrong and neva really stood a chance against an entrenched foe. I spent my holidays in my town and on day of the PDP Rally where money and stuff where shared, there was hardly anyone left out while people where still guessing what platform Ogboru was running on. Ogboru counted solely on Goodwill to win d election and this is about how far goodwill can get you in a society like ours.
The minority have had their say with their votes clearly showing they r displeased with the PDP but the majority will have their way cos Democracy is a game of numbers, Deal with it!
Politics › Re: Official Thread::: Delta State Election Rerun by wesley80(m): 1:05pm On Jan 07, 2011
Military men are already patrolling the streets of Warri in 3 trucks and sirens blaring. The general belief here is that Uduaghan has already been declared winnes and they r all sadly holding GEJ responsible. You cant even try reasoning with anyone, they are so sure Ogboru won by virtue of their perceived turnout yesterday and its just sickening that the fairest election I've witnessed is being reduced to this. Its just downright pathetic.

^^ The old one of course. It was a re-run and not a fresh election so the call for a fresh voters register is out of place. I just wish people would understand that INEC was only obeying the court by using the old register.

Politics › Re: Official Thread::: Delta State Election Rerun by wesley80(m): 8:12pm On Jan 06, 2011
@Bombay, Your post shows PDP leading with 7 LG's and DPP with just 3 so far, thats 10 out of 20 LG's, so by virtue of what is Ogboru being declared an unconfirmed winner?
Politics › Re: Official Thread::: Delta State Election Rerun by wesley80(m): 6:33pm On Jan 06, 2011
Over here in Effurun, DPP won handr down. In my polling station it was PDP (Including my vote) 30 and DPP 350. I personally visited 2 other centres and DPP won by a large margin. I've seen the result from about 12 centres here in Eff and the closest I've seen is like DPP 200 and PDP 23. And I have to add that not a single incident has been reported so far and thats some feat!. The atmosphere here is healthy with PDP supporters like me being laughed to scorn, but what worries me is that most seem 2 believe Ogboru winning Warri amounts to winning d entire Delta state)so u guys can 4give Bombay, its not his fault). folks r already drinkin and women were dancing in stations as d results were called. Ogboru has huge support, but i think he fell just a lil bit short.
Politics › Re: Official Thread::: Delta State Election Rerun by wesley80(m): 1:06pm On Jan 06, 2011
Its all going smoothly in Uvwie LG a notorious LG and a potential flashpoint. I've been to abt 3 stations and the only snag I've noticed are the huge crowds and extremely slow voting process. There are 3 police men in each station and they r doing a good job so far, Military Copters hovering in the skies every half hour seem to remind us how important this elections are.
Most voters around here are rooting for Ogboru but at the same time seem to have resigned to the fact that no matter what happens, Uduaghan wld still win. I bet they r wrong but have no doubt Uduaghan wld still carry d day quite legitimately.

Polls just opened and I've not seen or heard much yet and it kinda seems eerily quiet. I'll take a stroll down to my polling unit shortly.
