@Omo_Tier1, The level of insults u've thrown in each of your posts just goes to show your level of intelligence - absolutely pathetic. Your arguments are without a shred of common sense yet u go about abusing every one with a view contrary to that generated by your elementary brain. So much for 'overseas grown graduate'. Ewu.

I started laughing as soon as i read the second paragraph. I didnt end up in the sciences, but from the much i did in my SS 1 & 2, i knew this was possible there's even a diagram of the process in the popular secondary school physics textbook by P.N Okeke - without the boosters anyway. The children should be commended for actually carrying out and proving a well known experiment and nothing more.
I strongly believe the bashing should go to the ignorant reporter who perhaps was just too impressed to have seen 'light' without fuel and noise he's used to, but i dont blame him and neither do i blame those that have queued up to praise the 'kids invention'. Na where them know reach!

@asha, thats the point i'm trying to make, would the game be better served if its most successful and famous stars spent their life in seclusion and away from football? Of course not. These guys are better off inspiring the younger generation and helping to spot talents as themselves. Of course its a choice only they can make.

^^^ And did you remember to think before posting the crap you just posted? Did you even read my post? Did i say owning a club was a bad thing? I only compared what he was doing now with what he could achieve for Ngr if he was into football. Next time fart with your bum and think with your head, not the other way round!

@Chyz. I aint mad at cha. But just becos u spend so much time fighting fellow tribalists in your self declared wars shouldnt be an excuse to be turned into a cyber-cannibal. You can still maintain reasonable borders of decorum whilst fighting your needless battles. Its even more sad 4 a lady. Why not leave that turf?

. . . , .Just as it appears as if nothing can possibly go awry, Chuba, as you look forward to hosting the worlds most powerful leader and shaking his hand, as you begin to smell the recognition and leadership of the Igbo people, may the crown fall off your head and your political head off your shoulders. None of my words will come to pass, Chuba until u have risen to the very height of your power and glory and health, but then u will b hounded and humiliated and disgraced out of office, your credibility and name in tatters forever.
Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe reacting to Chuba Okadigbos 'ranting of an ant'

So where were u in 1981?, i guessed your history was bad so i had to help u by typing that out from my archives. I suggest u find a place 4 it in yours and learn from it.
Politics › Re: Anioma Group Congratulates Delta Acting Governor Of Igbo Extraction by wesley80(m): 1:07am On Nov 20, 2010
@Chyz, this is 4 u and others that too often delight in throwing insults without second thots. Its in good faith so rememba 2 thank me later.
'it is the mere ranting of an ant'
Chuba Okadigbo(1981) then political adviser to Pres Shehu Shagari, dismissing Nnamdi Azikiwe's complaints of election fraud.

Zik to Okadigbo - 'My boy, may you live to your full potential, ascend to as dizzy a height as is possible for anyone of your political description in your era to rise. May u be acknowledged world wide as u rise like an eagle atop trees, flota among the clouds, preside over the affairs of fellow men , As leaders of all countries pour into Ngr to breath into her ear. But then, Chuba,if it is not the tradition of our people that elders are roundly insulted by young men before tie world as you have unjustly done to me, may your reign come to an abrupt and shattering close. As you look ahead, Chuba, as u see the horizon, dedicating a great marble palace that is the envy of the world, toasted by the most powerful men in the land, may the great big hand of fate snatch it all away from you. . . .
2 be contd.

@excanny, U got me laughing with your comment, credit 2 u. FYI, I'm not Ikwerre, so u can guess again.
Secondly, I dont deny being Igbo, I realized d foolishness in doing so years ago. But I dont agree 2 being an Igbo just to score political/numerical or economic scores.
This thread waz supposed 2 be abt the achievements and challenges of Delta Igbos but inevitably was heading 2 the direction of the same old debate of Igbo political domination or lack of it, true federalism and the rest sick excuses for mental laziness. Una no dey tire?

@Wesley 80: Troussier was not a failure, NFA made him look like one. He qualified Nigeria effortlessly for the 1998 world cup with a match to spare only for NFA to kick him out.
Noted. But we are trying to compare him to a coach that has at least 8 of the talents he takes full credit for discovering becoming Grade One coaches (at least by Nigerian Standards). So how do they compare?

True word. Perharps he's following his heart by Clubbing his heart out who knows?.
But a player of his immense talent ought not to be too far from football. take the likes of Maradona, Pele, Zidane, Gullit, Hoddle , They've all stayed close to football and given back to the sport that brought them fame. These guys arent just popular but can be inspirations to aspiring footballers, they command so much respect in this field hence they have to stay close to the game. What purpose is Okocha serving in a club house? How much inspiration can he give in a clubhouse or how much respect can command?

If only Okocha would stop clubbing and put himself to good use, perharps he might help us by replicating himself.

The 1994 squad are excellent! Emenalo is now an assistant coach and Finidi joins the technical crew.Oh! I pray that many others will soon join the list.
Very true. And when you add the likes of Stephen Keshi, Samson Siasia, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amuneke, and Ben Iroha, you begin to appreciate what Clemens Westerhorf did for Nigeria. Nigeria is feeding on the foundation laid by just one man that had a vision. On the other hand, u can also feel the impact of the wasted years of the likes of Vogts, Bora, Troussier and the rest ridiculous names i cant recall.

A member of the all-conquering 1994 Super Eagles, Finidi George, has been appointed a member of the technical crew of his former club, Real Betis in Spain.

The right winger, who was at one time adjudged to be the best crosser of the ball, was officially presented on Wednesday as the new International Director for the Spanish club side. George would be working hand in hand with coach Pepe Mel.

One of his tasks will include scouting for players. He expressed delight at being recognised by the club where he played for four years, and expressed his readiness to start work. “It is an opportunity you (the club) gave me to join the technical body and I look forward to work to bring in good players,” he said. He went on to say he would use the opportunity of his global assess and profile to raise the club to greater heights. “I am going to focus on football outside Spain like Africa, Europe and other places where there are good players who can come to Betis,” he said. “I know the coach very well and I actually played with the assistant coach Roberto Rios and the trainer Jesus.”

His career

Finidi joined Real Betis in 1996 from Ajax, in a deal worth $7.6 million, scoring 38 goals in 130 appearances before moving on to Real Mallorca, and Ipswich Town, in the English Premier League, before ending his career at Real Mallorca. At Ajax, he cemented his place as a legend by providing many memorable assists. In that club, he scored 18 goals in 85 appearances. He started his career as a central midfielder with Sharks in Port Harcourt, joining his older brother, Alari George, before his skills drew the attention of national selectors. He then spent two seasons with Calabar Rovers before returning to Sharks in 1993. In Port Harcourt, where he grew up and began his career, he is most admired for his creativity in midfield; but it was as a winger that he gained global recognition for the accuracy of his crossing, which was even rated ahead of David Beckham and Luis Figo at his prime.

Dutchman Clemens Westerhof recognized this, and Finidi’s crosses brought out the best in Rashidi Yekini making the latter Nigeria’s all time top scorer. He has been living in Spain and is very fluent in Spanish and Dutch. At the national scene, he made a goal scoring international debut for Nigeria against Burkina Faso in a thrilling 7-1 defeat where he set up 3 goals, scoring the last after coming on for Austin Eguavoen at half time. He also scored twice in the World Cup qualifiers that secured Nigeria’s first ever qualification for the USA 94 FIFA World Cup. Finidi featured for Nigeria at the Senegal 92 (bronze), Tunisia 94 (gold and Cup,) Nigeria/Ghana 2000 (silver) and Mali 2002 (bronze).

He also represented Nigeria at the USA 1994 and France 98 World Cup and was vice-captain to Sunday Oliseh when the team qualified for the 2002 World Cup; but both of them were controversially omitted from the final squad. His goal against Greece is best remembered for his “dog” celebration and is often replayed.

Politics › Re: E.k Clark Risks Expulsion From Pdp …as President Jonathan Insist It's Uduaghan by wesley80(m): 10:16pm On Nov 16, 2010
I'm no supporter of uduaghan, but i believe most of his travails have been due to some sort of 'transferred aggression' no thanks to his relationship with ibori. Ibori completely demystified clark in his time by completely ignoring him and pushing him aside despite the weight he supposedly carried in the state. So it is only natural that clark would want his sound of flesh from someone ibori installed without regard to what party elders felt.
Uduaghan has done much more in 4 years than ibori did in his 8years. Thats not to say he has done great anyway, but much better than his cousin that had less troubles and more time and resources. So in some sense, clark's constant hounding is uncalled for and it would be great if someone stepped in, at least make we hear word.

Politics › Re: Nigeria's Economy: Headed For The G20? by wesley80(m): 3:47am On Nov 12, 2010
@kcjazz, its complicated. In economics there's a term called Economic Dualism - d existence of 2 economies in one nation. One ( the big mans economy) is captured by the GDP and is given all the attention by the govt, and the poorer one ie the poor mans economy is completely ignored and d result is d existence of extreme poverty and unequal devt in a booming economy a la India, and I believe Lagos state is towing that line in terms of Unequal devt.
Politics › Re: Nigeria's Economy: Headed For The G20? by wesley80(m): 3:32am On Nov 12, 2010
There is a fine line b/w Economic Growth and Economic Development. Whereas Economic growth can be captured by indices such as GDP, same cannot be said of Economic Development. Though it is an all embracing term that captures the general state of well being of d populace, it is immeasurable in most areas.
