honeric01: Samuel was a Judge
Moses was like a prime minister, are these not political offices?
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing inherently wrong in a Christian aspiring for political office. In any case, Samuel was a Prophet of God and Joseph was handpicked by Pharoah to oversee a project. He never aspired to be a PM and never questioned the Monarchy system in Egypt.

ochukoccna: Christ called Herod a fox
Moses stood up to Pharaoh
Elijah took on Ahab for confisticating Naboth's vineyard&killing him.Infact Ahab called Elijah his enemy
Samuel rebuked Saul the king for doing a priest's duty i.e. sacrificing before the people
John the baptist was imprisoned for rebuking Herod who took his brother's wife
Jeremiah was imprisoned for rebuking Zedekiah for his evil conduct
Micaiah (the son of Imlah) who Ahab hated for not giving him favorable prophesies which condoned his evil ways like our elite too
Average bible students know all the above& where they at for that's why I put their names there in my initial post
Google can help you out if you are really interested&not just asking with mischief at the back of your mind
Very well done, clap! clap!!
Now which of those confrontations had political undertones? Which of those Religious leaders had at anytime gotten themselves mirred in politics? Which of them "EVER" bothered about political leadership? All the examples you mentioned were moral. Even Christ in the days of ruthless Roman rule refused to get involved in politics. King Ahab was a ruthless political leader but Elijah only bothered about Baal and Jezebel's love for gods. John the Baptist only condemned Herod for taking his brothers wife and so on. Religion and Politics never mix, ask the early Catholics.
My point? Bakare has lost the capacity and goodwill of being Nigeria's moral voice. He cannot speak without his voice seemingly laced with political undertones, it doesn't matter how truthful he sounds.

nagoma: You are really shallow and programmed. Buhari had nothing to do with those murders. PDP wanted the state by hook or by crook . They did take it by the crook and those murders were part of the sacrifices PDP made. And Jonathan paid blood money to relatives. Where were you?
So why didn't Buhari do the little he could to stop the killing of innocent corp members? Why didn't he think for a second that the killings might be as a direct consequence of the sabre rattling he indulged in in the days leading up to the election? Like I said, your thought process is just about as warped as Buhari's, I don't expect you to see he's got the blood of those people on his head.

nagoma: The killing of corpers in Bauchi was Terrible tragedy that we cannot forget. Indeed even the killing of many other innocent people at election time around the country. But to link it to Buhari's loss is simply mischievous . This was the do or die fight by PDP to secure Bauchi and truly they ( PDP) sacrificed the corpers to get that state. You think the Masses in Bauchi State love Jonathan that much ? Please be honest.
What about his refusal to condemn the killings or his silence in the face of the killings even when it was obvious the murderers were his supporters? I'm sure you'll find a way to blame that on the PDP also wouldn't you? You really think I'm surprised you're defending him? No sir, your thinking is just as warped as his.

Politics › Rochas Hits Back, Inaugurates Panels To Probe Ohakim by wesley80(op): 8:37am On Jan 14, 2013
If Rochas thought governance would be just one huge egotrip, now he knows better! After promising not to probe Ohakim, he's been forced to eat his words with the arrest of his commissioners by the EFCC. I'm beginning to fall in love with the kind of political banter in Imo state, these guys aren't just mouthing off ala ACN/CPC noisemakers but supplying "EFCC - stirring facts" Now lets truly know who the bigger thief is; Ohakim in 4years or Rochas in just over a year?

By CHIDI NKWOPA OWERRI

— Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has inaugurated three judicial panels of inquiry to look into all contracts awarded by the Ikedi Ohakim administration, the local government system, as well as autonomous communities and traditional rulers. While the retired Chief Judge of Imo State, Justice Paul Onumajulu, was asked to probe the local government system, Justices Goddy Anunihu and T. E. C. Chikeka were charged with the responsibility of probing the autonomous communities and traditional rulers. Although Okorocha explained that the essence of inaugurating the commissions was not to witch-hunt anybody in the state but to establish and bring back the lost glories of the state and traditional institution, observers, however, insisted that the current development might be connected with the growing altercation between the governor and loyalists of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
Justice Anunihu was asked to identify all contracts awarded by or on behalf of Imo State government or its parastatals and agencies between May 30, 2007, and May 29, 2011, and ascertain the extent of work done. The panel is also to ascertain the level of jobs done, detect any payments in excess of work done, including kick backs in cash or kind given to or received by individuals or organisations. Onumajulu’s panel was asked to identify all types of employees in the local government system, including temporary, casual, permanent staff, the method of recruitment of staff, staff structure, and staff strength of each local government in the state. They are also charged to investigate salary padding, payment of ghost workers, illegal employment of temporary, casual and permanent staff or employees, as well as identify persons involved in illegal recruitment, salary padding, payment made to ghost workers and prescribe appropriate sanctions. The Justice Chikeka panel was asked to ascertain whether all the autonomous communities in Imo State were originally qualified to be given autonomous status, in accordance with the law that was in force when each autonomous communities was created. They were also charged to ascertain the level of involvements of the traditional rulers in acts/misconducts and make recommendations to the government based on their findings. Responding on behalf of the chairmen and members of the commissions, Justice Onumajulu, thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve in the commissions and assured that they would do their best to carry out the assignment. vanguardngr.com/2013/01/imo-inaugurates-3-panels-to-probe-ohakim/

Sports › Super Eagles Kenneth Omeruo Set To Join Chelsea by wesley80(op): 6:12pm On Jan 11, 2013
Representatives of Kenneth Omeruo have told MTNFootball.com that the Nigeria defender is “95% close to joining up with Chelsea”. Omeruo has made the final 23-man Nigeria squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations after he only made his full international debut against Catalonia this month. “Chelsea want the player to end his loan spell at ADO Den Haag and we are going to have several meetings in this respect,” one of the representatives of the defender informed. “Right now there are discussions to have a meeting in South Africa during the Nations Cup.” One of the issues that need to be ironed out is whether he should move to Stamford Bridge immediately during this winter transfer or wait till the closed season in the summer. He has signed an initial 18-month loan deal at Den Haag, which will be up at the end of this season. MTNFootball.com has specially gathered that top officials of Chelsea have already booked into the Nelspruit base of the Eagles. Mikel Obi and Victor Moses are the other Chelsea players on the Eagles squad to the Nations Cup. Nineteen-year-old Omeruo, who has been capped by Nigeria at U17 and U20 levels, is in his second season on loan with Den Haag from Chelsea. A central defender, he has established himself at right back at Den Haag. In the summer, he missed out on going on pre- season training tour of the United States of America because he could not process his entry visas in time. This month, he made two assured appearances for the Eagles both as a substitute against Catalonia and Cape Verde. He would now have pushed for a first-team place ahead of Celtic ace Efe Ambrose.

afam4eva: Rochas Okorocha: Even though this man is relatively new in the governorship seat of Imo state, his body language and utterance together with what he's achieved as the pioneer of the Rochas foundation, it can be concluded that this man is someone who loves his people. he really doesn't care about anything else as long as he can fend for the people he governs. many have called him Father Christmas because of his benevolent disposition which can be seen in the way he became the first governor in Nigeria to declare free education up to the tertiary level. A vote for Rochas is a vote for the common man
Rochas is a populist that thinks governance is an ego trip. Yes it has made him very popular but for how long can he keep choosing policies just for the "high" cheers from the populace brings? How sustainable are his populist policies? And where would he stand when tough decisions are to be made, with the common man or with common sense? IMO, his disposition puts a huge question mark on his presidential ambition.

As for Fashola, he's done enough to merit his name being on a prospective list but his loyalty to his Godfather is startling. Its either Tinubu isn't what he's been made out to be by the media or Fashola is the greenest snake under the green cover of governance and you know what they say: The Devil you know . . . .

If I had to pick, it would be between Pat Utomi and Donald Duke.
Politics › Re: Suggestions For Credible Alternatives To Jonathan In 2015 Elections by wesley80(m): 2:09pm On Jan 10, 2013
Deep Sight: One of the problems of Nigeria is the fact that its people have no sense of morality, justice, propriety and honour. Buhari may be a disciplined figure, but he lacks every moral right to ever seek to benefit from, or participate in any democratic government in Nigeria, much less be a democratic president. The simple reason is the fact that he truncated the democratic 2nd Republic through a military coup: an act of treason which took this country 16 solid years of military rule to reverse.

In any civilized society, he should be tried for treason even today. Secondly, it is unimaginable that we have not deleted the names of ALL former military rulers from the official records as past Heads of State: it is even more mortifying that these persons sit on the Council of State as former Heads of State and even collect a pension from the state, aside from other continuing privileges.

It is disgusting, and shows that we have no respect whatsoever for ourselves as a people or as a nation, or as a State.

Anyway, my two suggestions for a future president of Nigeria would be Fashola - only if he leaves the ACN and the suffocating and corrupt influence of Tinubu; and Pat Utomi.

Neither will happen though. Our next president would likely be someone already circulating in Abuja such as Namadi Sambo or David Mark, or one of the business-as-usual governors, likely a northern one on account of the zoning idea.
Thank you for being realistic. I've always maintained that the PDP remains the quickest and most realistic way of realizing our dreams as a nation. The sooner Nigerians and the few honest politicians that've chosen to stand aside cos the game seems too dirty to be played realize the battle for the PDP is the battle for the heart and soul of Nigeria and every single thing we want her to be, the sooner we'll be on our way to utopia. For now we are stuck with accepting what the ruthlessly corrupt PDP internal system throws at us for want of better alternatives and relatively honest men like GEJ will continue to look like messiahs.

Too bad that some churches now operates like political parties.
Without holding brief for MFM, I have to say they reserve the right to determine who covers their event. It didn't seem Sowore was victimized cos he was a reporter but because of his mode of dressing. You have to understand what "cowries" signify to an ultra Spiritual person and the MFM are known for little else but their daily battles with both the seen and unseen. Sowore was in Rome and had to act and dress like Romans but he didn't. If you say he was illegally held then I have to ask by who since the occasion had both the police and SSS in attendance. In any case, Sowore is known for adding salt and pepper to his stories so I'm not surprised he didn't get any special treatment.

I honestly don't know what the issue is, Sowore was stopped from covering an event because of his mode of dressing - MFM are notorious for their long list of prohibitions -. It was their show, their turf and their rules, Sowore should stop whining.
No insult meant but having engaged your postings in NL, you come across as someone who lacks the ability to engage in sound intellectual discuss, lacking in understanding, shallow minded and bereft of good sense of independent judgement.

You posted an article explaining why Amaechi's unreasonable promise to the people of rivers state to provide 24/7 power by year end 2012 didnot materialize, instead of basing your comments on the article and its content, you resorted to falsehood trying to justify what even the Presidency knows was a plunder of a comment by GEJ.

The fact the Rivers State generates 560MW does not justify the frivolious claims by GEJ that Nigeria is now generating a mere 5000MW which can not power Heathrow Airport and environs.
I can ignore your deliberate insults but I cannot ignore your obvious foolishness, those words you threw in carelessly in your first paragraph are more fitting on yourself than anyone else.
Now what "sound intellectual discuss" have you proposed that I failed to respond to or what level of understanding have you displayed in your inability to comprehend a simple article written in plain English with undisguised intent to inform? How deep minded are you not to see the obvious or how capable of good judgement are you not to admit the President was unfairly accused of "lying" by a trio that does little else around here?
What is unreasonable about a Governor that promised 24hour power and generated 560MW an amount that should ordinarily be enough to power his state but unable to distribute same because of existing laws and poor capacity? Have you ever been to Rivers state? can you even locate it on a map? I can tell you for a fact that numerous communities around the Omoku area already enjoy 24hour power supply a feat that cannot be replicated in the city because the PHCN can't evacuate generated power so what is your ignorant butthole yapping?
How's the President claim frivolous when facts stare you in the face? What is frivolous in a claim that has just been INDEPENDENTLY corroborated? Perhaps its the same issue with "comprehension", no? What falsehood did I resort to? I'll be glad if you'd point it out to me and I can't help but wonder what point you were trying to make comparing Nigerias power generation with that of Heathrow airport besides exposing just how incapable of constructive thought you are.
Its really sad that low lifes like you that lack the most meagre trace of intellectual capacity are the first to throw out insults and abuse others while basking in idiocy. Your entire post is just one heap of self entraping BS and its just disgraceful you'll never know just how stupid folks now know you are.
