ezeagu: You people's new age "Christianity" is absolute bullshit and an embarrassment to humanity.
Tell that to the lady in the video and countless others on that same youtube channel with similar problems. You've got absolutely no clue abt what you're talking.

^ Classic. Either make them not watch or discredit what they'll see before they have an opportunity to decide for themselves - nice try. I actually tried looking for a particular video that involved a lady from Anambra state with a similar problem. Just google you tube videos and see how widespread the problem is.

olawalebabs: I don't think he is using this to support full deregulation.
@wesley, all those countries you mention have one think in common that is not in us. They are Arabs, and Arab are naturally aggressive and rebellion, Nigerian on the other hand are reserved and always believe in the natural cause of things (you know we are too religious) therefore, in that regards you can't compare us. Government on it part acknowledge the partial success of the occupy movement by way of deploying the army to the meeting ground. The occupy movement will forever be a reference point in the history of protest in Nigeria. Don't forget that the prosecution of the subsidy cabal is as a result of the movement.
You do have a very valid point here I've got to say esp the prosecution of the cabals bit. However, my point is the #occupy was supposed to be our version of the Arab spring, an awakening, our own peoples revolution if you like, but it never was because the advocates of mass action never had a sellable CAUSE and their zeal was misplaced hence the lack of unanimity in the support of mass action and that's exactly what explains the present indifference to the pervading situation. In summary, the occupy movement was a failure allbeit with some measure of success.

olawalebabs: What I meant by occupy Nigeria are not the labour leaders but the faithful civil societies.
Yeah, I meant them as well. How "faithful were they"? Pushing folks onto streets without themselves having a fundamental grasp of the core issues. In the final analysis, the occupiers only occupied for petrol marketers and became economic saboteurs rather than the emancipators they thought they were.

afam4eva: Hall of fame: Prof Barth NNaji for making electricity available in his short stint as minister.

Hall of Shame: That should be between Farook Lawan and the Aluu4 mobsters.
Yeah, Barth did pretty well but what's a start without a complementing finish? His glory would be taken by someone else sadly. Aluu4 has got no'n to do with politics.
Politics › Re: 3rd Annual Politics Section Hall Of Fame/Shame by wesley80(m): 6:19pm On Dec 03, 2012
olawalebabs: Hall of Fame: Occupy Nigeria: The subsidy protest in Nigeria open a new channel in the civil responsibility and consciousness of Nigerian.
Occupy Nigeria achieved nothing other than set back the deregulation of the downstream sector. It was merely an opportunity for most to demonstrate their discontent with govt even when they knew the policy was ultimately for their own good, now here we are back where we started buying fuel upwards 120 naira and near zero investment in the downstream sector.
If you say it awoke a channel of civil consciousness, then I'd like to know where the occupiers have been all these while with citizens at the mercy of marketers. Truth is Nigerians are back to their docile worst and the so called Occupy Nigeria, a fruit that got rotten even before it had a chance to ripen.

Can I voice my disapproval of some of the nominations? I mean could we discuss the merits or demerits of nominations as they come in? dont wanna derail cos I'm desperate to end the year without a ban! Some feat that would be.

@Jarus, can we have a debate approval/disapproval as we nominate?
Politics › Re: 3rd Annual Politics Section Hall Of Fame/Shame by wesley80(m): 4:57pm On Dec 03, 2012
Hall of fame should go to SEC DG Arunma Oteh . It took uncommon courage to look straight into the face of a House committee chairman and call him a crook on live TV. I'll never forget the shell - shocked look on Hembe's face as he licked his suddenly drying lips endlessly like an Iguana - absolutely classic.

Hall of shame? I cant look beyond Farouk Lawan. From Mr Integrity to "Cap Banker", that's medal winning shame!

Jarus banned PointB from Politics for Breaking express rule - criticizing with hate/ strong words. at October 12, 2012 at 12:07:59 PM. Ban expired at October 12, 2012 at 05:07:59 PM
@Jarus, can you with any honesty say Gbawe has'nt done worse without even as little as a caution let alone a ban? Instances abound of threads where Gbawe was clearly the agressor and he was pampered all through and such threads eventually locked or seen out! but a ban? not for NL's Mr Untouchable. afam4eva: It seems people are not really interested in the nomination. I was expecting this thread to have hit 10 pages by now.
Cos it has already been killed as a contest, all that's left is for us to see out the "joke". It happened last year and we r well on track for a repeat.

nitrogen: I already gave an answer, unfortunately, simple comprehension is always hard to come by for some. Btw, should in case you need first hand info on some things, google will always help.
But of course, I'm the one with comprehension issues not you because I asked a question which proves I'm utterly ignorant not so? Here's my question again:

wesley80: ^ it sure does. wish you'd touched more on the local prospects though. Do you think it wld be a waste within Ngr? and how do you think CISA compares with CFA?
What was my line of questioning? I believe without racking your brain you'll arrive at; Prospects. I was only trying to get a comparison of the local career prospects of both obviously different but highly specialized and internationalized professional certifications. I honestly do not see why a single word - compares - would elicit the kind of sardonic responses that have dotted your replies. You'd be more helpful without an attitude.
Lest I forget, " Btw, should in case you need first hand" tutorial on comprehension, I'll be glad to recommend a few primary schools.
Career › Re: CISA Certification And Accounting In Nigeria by wesley80(m): 9:24pm On Dec 02, 2012
nitrogen: And what makes you think you can compare both? they are different entities, the only thing that binds them is 'both are professional courses'. Sefini.
And what again was my question?

Politics › Re: Polls-the Most Capable Prospective President Among Okorocha ,fashola ,oshiomole by wesley80(m): 4:23pm On Dec 02, 2012
^ I agree with most of your assertions but disagree on the Fashola bit. Not that he's not most of what you've pointed out but I believe Fashola is an "elitist" and is the exact kind of leader Nigeria does not need. You cannot be sitting atop the scale of unequal and terribly skewed development Lagos state is immersed in and wave some other credential that potrays you as understanding of your people. I'd rather an Oshiomhole that's swayed by the voices of the lowly majority than a Fashola that dances to every whim of the few but noisy elite or a populist Rochas.
Politics › Re: Polls-the Most Capable Prospective President Among Okorocha ,fashola ,oshiomole by wesley80(m): 2:26pm On Dec 02, 2012
Oshiomhole amongst all three.

Fashola's overhyped just as Marwa was. Even while Marwa was robbing the state blind Lagosians were singing his praise to the high heavens, Fashola is relatively btter but grossly overhyped.

Rochas is too hungry for power and is doing everything and all things to get himself positioned for.

Politics › Re: Fareed Zakaria And The Nigerian "Elites?" by wesley80(m): 3:47pm On Nov 25, 2012
Star struck by Fareed? Before or after his plagiarism battle? Dont get me wrong, I'm a fan but I dont see how I'd ever get star struck by fareed not to weigh his opinion objectively and I believe same holds for those that made those comments - Fareed presented a great lecture/speech, heck he pocketed upwards of $50,000 and it had to be earned and it was.
I know there are those that view him as a highly overrated analyst but that just the way it is. I'm no fan of Segun Adeniyi as I find his write ups too empty and bland except when he's offering a narrative but even he could'nt take away anything from Fareed. Maybe you read some other portion I didnt but from Segun's summary, It seems most unfair to pick out those few sentences and point to it as evidence of a sadonic speech.
