Do you mean Exodus not Genesis? I googled it and there doesn't seem to be a book by that name written by Leon...[/quote]Yes, I actually meant Exodus and not Genesis, I realized the error after posting. Mind you, Uris was a Jew and some dismiss his account on the basis of his race but he's narrative account were well researched and covers the case of both sides dispassionately IMO.

Jakumo: I have some layman questions.

Are the kidney donors going to be willing donors, or unwilling ones ?

For the unwilling donors, how will they be re-educated to understand the importance of giving up their internal organs ?
Am I to answer or should I wait for Uduaghan's response?

If you're a good reader and desire proper understanding, I'll recommend two novels by the late author and historian Leon Uris they are "The Haj" and "Exodus". The most significant events happened long before the birth of the Zionist movements but sadly, few bother to tell this aspect of the story.

Valon4ego: There is however the other side of this story that is not so funny. There're stories, for example of grown up ladies in certain families that grow and age in their father's house but can't marry because 'they've been married to a python'. At times after giving birth, parents might dedicate their children to these serpents, you can imagine what will happen when such persons decide to become christians.

Politics › Re: Ghana's Rogue UBS Trader by wesley80(op): 9:08am On Nov 21, 2012
The “unprotected, unhedged, incautious, reckless” trading, as prosecutor Sasha Wass described it, appears to have turned jurors against Mr Adoboli. His conviction for fraud applies to two indictment periods, one in which he generated large profits for the bank and another in which he amassed the hefty losses. Mr Adoboli’s failed to convince the jury that everything he did was for the good of the bank. Instead, they sided with Ms Wass, who had argued that the trader had engaged in “protracted and sophisticated manipulation to puff up his earnings”. Mr Adoboli had also argued that his colleagues knew of and even occasionally used the same trading methods. Indeed, Mr Hughes admitted in court he had accessed a secret account nicknamed “umbrella”, which Mr Adoboli had set up to conceal risk exposure and losses. Other witnesses, too, said they knew of its existence. This may be why the
jury did not find Mr Adoboli guilty of the four charges of false accounting he also faced.
But it seems strange to convict him on grounds of dishonesty motivated by self- aggrandisement, and not for the mechanisms that he is supposed to have used. Mr Adoboli’s other line of defence was that UBS’s management had encouraged him to
take greater risk. “There’s a difference between policy and practice,” he said in the witness box.
In an internal memo in early 2008, for instance, staff was warned of the fate of Jérôme Kerviel, the rogue trader at Société Générale, a French bank. At the same time, UBS’s management allegedly told Mr Adoboli to bring in higher profits. . Kerviel recently lost his appeal against fraud charges. One of Mr Adoboli’s mistakes was to defend him in court. Culture at UBS clearly changed under Oswald Grübel and other executives drafted in 2009 from Deutsche Bank—something Philip Allison, the bank’s head of cash equities, admitted in his testimony. “I’d actually like to see us put more risk on the table,” Mr Grübel said in November 2009. He got what he wished for: risk limits at the ETF desk were increased; punishment for taking excessive risk taking was weak. Mr Adoboli received only a warning for exceeding risk limits in January 2011. A mechanism for verifying counterparties and settlement dates was mysteriously switched off until his activities were exposed. Immediately following the verdict, UBS said in a statement it was “glad” the trial was over. It must be: now it can begin torestore to its reputation.

Politics › Ghana's Rogue UBS Trader by wesley80(op): 8:55am On Nov 21, 2012
I feel a tinge of guilt drawing 'Ghana' into this but uhm well, I guess it's just expedient.

“A LESSON”. This was how Charles Sherrard, a lawyer for Kweku Adoboli, described the trial against the former UBS trader whose activities led to losses of nearly $2.3 billion, when he closed his case. And a lesson it was—for all involved: for the 32-year old Ghanaian-born Mr Adoboli, who will spend up to seven years in prison after a jury in London’s Southwark Crown Court found him guilty on two counts of fraud on
November 20th;
for the jury itself, who had a hard time understanding the financial jargon cited during the trial; and for the once-esteemed Swiss bank, which was more than just a victim. Mr Adoboli was picked for a full-time job at UBS after spending a successful summer internship at one of its London offices while studying at Nottingham University. On campus he soon became an ambassador for the bank, drawing in new recruits for its once growing staff—many of whom recently discovered they no longer work there. Having impressed management, Mr Adoboli moved out of the back office in October 2008 and soon became a successful trader, making large profits on an exchange-traded funds (ETF) desk. This success at such a young age—he and his colleague John Hughes were just 26 and 24 respectively when they began running the desk—must have given Mr Adoboli’s the confidence to do as he saw fit. At any rate, after his ever-bigger trades went sour during three volatile months last summer, he amassed the biggest loss in British banking history.

Politics › Delta Partners US Varsity On Kidney Transplant Centre by wesley80(op):
This here is one very small giant step.

By Austin Ogwuda Asaba—
Delta State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU,
with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center to develop a centre of
excellence for kidney transplant and treatment of kidney related diseases in the state. Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who signed on behalf of Delta State University
Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, in Texas, as he led a delegation of DELSUTH officials to the
centre, stated that the objective of the MoU was to establish a partnership that
promotes joint initiatives in the fields of nephrology and kidney transplantation
between the parties. He noted that it would take between 14 and 16 months to set up the fields of nephrology and kidney transplantation of internationally acceptable standards at DELSUTH. Specifically, the governor said this required improvement of the Dialysis centre, Laboratory, Radiology and Theatre departments of DELSUTH into centers of excellence. To achieve this, Governor Uduaghan disclosed that the state government would, in the next 10 months, enhance the infrastructure and equipment at DELSUTH as well as the capacity of the personnel. He said the personnel at DELSUTH would be sent to UTSMC for specialization and refresher courses to enable them cope with the new facilities and discharge their duties efficiently. Dr. Uduaghan noted that the overall objective was to make the facilities for nephrology and kidney transplant available and at a cheaper rate for the people.

seanet01: Are you not ashamed? The same BPE that was pushing for the cancellation of the contract due to some irregularities is now forced by the Presidency to issue Certification to the same company the President accepted did not follow due process just because some foreign countries pressurized our President.
1. BPE declared that due process was not followed.
2. Mr. President accepted BPE's assertion and order his Media Assistant to issue a Press Release announcing the Cancellation of the Contract,
3. Mr. President said it live within the last 48 hours that the contract did not follow due process. Media chat.
4. Canada pressurized our President not to cancel the Contract.
5. Our President issues a directive to BPE to re-certify the company he has declared as having won a contract through the back door just within 48 hours after scolding them on National Television.
Fact is Our President is clueless. Simple.
Simple truth is ; Intelligence is far beyond your reach sorry, every time you write beyond a sentence you exhude a shocking level of ignorance that's just plain sad. When will you finally understand their are heights physical height cant get you to reach? Take my advice, stick to your ethnic/tribal bashing specialty - intelligence is beyond you. Prove me wrong by answering this simple questions:
a) What does the world 'salvage' as in to 'salvage a contract mean'?
b) Giving bureaucratic bottlenecks govts everywhere are known for would you rather terminate a salvageable contract or save months by salvaging it within the limits of the law?
c) What's your understanding of the term 'due process'?

Please remember not to write beyond a sentence for each quest. in the interest of sanity. I score you when I wake up in the morn.

Gbawe: Absolutely. Not even a point worth discussing if we are, to begin with, a Nation of politically sophisticated folks. When did Manitoba correct the supposed "due process" they allegedly breached to now enjoy this renewed confidence from the Nigerian FG ? Are we not ashamed as a Nation?

Sensible folks can only come to one conclusion. After all the fake "due process" gra gra, the 419 Nigerian government has now embraced this unconditional climb down, with Manitoba on an even stronger footing, because many rose in unison to call the bluff of those entrusted with much power yet insist on acting like common, myopic and pettily greedy fraudsters.

Nigeria currently has its citizens bastardized beyond normality. Many Nigerians no longer even know when to be honest, embarrassed or even truthful any more. Such is the extent to which our mentality is now warped.
Its a terminal contract you slowpoke!, it would be up in less than 3years and guess who'd still be in power then?

Mowire: OK @wesley thanks for the help. Now I know the MASSIVE "MATERIAL" IRREGULARITIES.
How 'bout how the irregularities have been corrected?
It doesnt have to be massive so long as its material. Materiality of an error regardless of how frivolous it sound is enough to jeopardize an entire process. In this case it might have been a simple approval from the FEC - a flaw that could have been capitalised on by the rival bidders at some point.

Politics › Re: BPP Certifies Manitoba Contract by wesley80(m): 9:54pm On Nov 20, 2012
@Mowire, let me help you out this once.
But presidency sources said the president based his decision to cancel the contract on a memo sent by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), which for several weeks, had been pushing for its cancellation on the premise that did it not pass through due process as provided under the Public Procurement Act. The Director General of the BPP, Emeka Eze, THISDAY learnt, was said to have kicked against the appointment of Manitoba because a few material irregularities had been noticed in the process that led to the company's selection. “It is better to correct these irregularities now to save the future of the management contract, than to have one that could run into hitches. Moreover, a stitch in time, saves nine,” said one official with the presidency. He said Eze, in his memo, had informed the president that a management contract was distinct from a privatisation transaction or concession, and since the procurement of all Federal Government contracts, including those covering professional services are covered by the Public Procurement Act, the BPP should not have superintended the selection process. The source said the BPP DG picked holes in the contract, querying why the designated managing director was 57 years old, which he felt was too old, insisting that the contract be cancelled because the BPE had misled the NCP by procuring the management contractor. Eze was also said to have insisted that if the BPP had overseen the procurement of the contractor, it is the Federal Executive Council (FEC) that should have approved the selection of Manitoba based on the BPP’s recommendation. Eze’s position, THISDAY learnt, was backed by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), who declared the contract null and void when his opinion was sought.
The reasons for cancellation may sound frivolous, but ultimately were material hence the brouhaha. What happened was more or less a re-vetting and legitimizing an initially flawed process especially the material aspects.

Politics › Re: BPP Certifies Manitoba Contract by wesley80(m): 9:17pm On Nov 20, 2012
Gbawe: Indeed. All those who went to town with the "due process" charade can now see that they were led down the garden path. Once Canada, World bank et al made it crystal clear to Nigeria that there will be serious repercussions to dishonorable conduct, the "due process" ruse quickly disappeared.

Sad Nigeria is run in this adhoc manner where our leaders shamelessly embrace open 419 tactics only for treats of sanction to be the only thing that makes them revise their crude and totally unethical behavior. Where is the silly "due process" argument now? Silly bunch of disgraceful 419ners.
The entire reactions to the supposed cancellation were envisaged and your so called "repercussion to dishonourable conduct" is no more than a creation of your schizophrenic mind. What you call a charade to the discerning is a clear demonstration of this govts unwillingness to suspend any aspect of laid down procedure regardless of the individuals or companies involved and this singular act would be remembered by every single company that puts up a bid in future. What honest citizens ought to be doing at this time is hailing the thoroughness demonstrated by this govt and her willingness to reverse perceived erroneous stance and correct identified mistakes. What I find disgraceful are the attitudes of folks like you that prance about like excited frogs in celebration of retrogression but frown when progress is made. Such a Shame!

@Ezeagu, Hehehhehehe really funny I've got to say. Beyond all that let me ask, how many societies that wail and cry over the accidental death of an animal would you not consider as being relatively backward? How many "totem animals" do they have where you reside? How many people where you live still consider a reptile the bearer of the spirits of their ancestors and how many still feel obligated to make occasional sacrifices dedicated to reptiles? Do you really know what you're talking about?
I do not need you to preach to me about our Culture or the values and traditions that represent the identity our people, you'd be hard pressed to prove you know more than I do - frankly. Even in high school, I'd already completed the entire initiation ceremonies a man ought to have completed. From the "awhoro" which grants you status to move around when women and uninitiated are forbidden to step outside to the nnmanwu (not to be mistaken with the mere masquerade status accorded it by most Igbo cultures) to the "Alrishi" which I prolly would've "danced" if I'd not been asthmatic, to the "Ojeh". I participated and played roles in all even as a kid that lived miles away in Lagos. You see, tradition is what I was brought up in and I dont need someone who's only gratified in watching from a "safe" distance guilt me over veneration of any deity.
I know what is totemism and I can tell the difference between spiritism and Religion and I'm observant enough to recognize when practices that can only be described as out of place have shackled an entire people. If you're going to tell me about "animal conservation", I want to know how many bottles of gin you've sent down from your base to be poured as libation to your reptile ancestors and I want to know how many chicks and eggs you've lost to your totems, I do not want to read the opinion of a US based animal protectionist riled at the passing of a culture that only serves as a euphoric reminder of the practices of your forebears.
