Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Lady Loses Job Opportunity Due To Her Response To HR's Phonecall by Westerville: 11:17pm On Apr 02, 2021
Wisemfon:
A lady I referred for a bank job in the first week of June got a call this morning to resume work at an Uyo branch of the said commercial bank. She was fortunate to be among the few applicants that were shortlisted from among a large pool of graduates who got interviewed for the jobs.
No, but she won't be resuming!

She finally lost the opportunity because of a phone call.
She had received the call in the early hours of today, 10:00am precise. It was from the HR department of the bank.

But she didn't say "hello".

Her first remark when she picked was "who's this?"

Before she got any other reply she added "how did you get my number?"

The HR person goes "Am I speaking to Miss xxxxxxx?"

She felt the question is unnecessary! And she gave her final response.

"Please if you don't want to introduce yourself get out of my phone" that was her final word!

I got a feedback from the HR by 12noon today and I listened to that conversation. Those kinds of phone calls are always recorded for reference purposes.

Aunty lost the job because she lacks Phone Conversations Etiquette! I listened to the recorded version of that conversation.

She lost the job because she believes every unknown male caller is a "chyker".

You see? After all it's not always because HR people are "despicable" as they have been labeled by Nigerians!

Why would a Homosapien answer a phone call like this in the year 2020AD?

Watch out! Your next phone call might be your breakthrough! But your ill-manners could cost you the miracle

Education / Re: Kinds Of People You Will Encounter In The University by Westerville: 10:38pm On Mar 30, 2021
blazepascal:
If You've Ever Been To The University, You Must Have Encountered These People

Immediately we graduate from secondary School, we are expected to buy the next JAMB form available to register for UTME in order to study in the university.

if you're lucky or brilliant enough to pass the exams, then you're one step into fulfilling your dreams of studying in the university of your choice after meeting their often tedious requirements.

For those who are currently in the higher institution or have gone through one, you'd agree with me that there are thousands of students who came from different backgrounds and who came for different purposes actually (Though we can all claim to come to learn).

As a fresher or a student in any level, here are some of the people you will surely see at the university that will you'd want to be around with or might try to avoid.

1. The slay Kings and queens.

These people will make you feel like your parents are not doing enough with they way they show up in shiny clothes to every where. The guys would dress as if they're going to an occasion just to see them sweating at the lecture hall.

As for the girls, they would come with big bags and big glasses just to tell you that they are in another level from the average student. Most of them are usually broke and would later come to beg for money while they spend heavily on designers to impress people.

2. The clubbers.

These set of people seems to come to school just to be away from their parents as they are usually show their true self on campus. Every weekend is a bubble time as they always love having fun. There's no party or club in town that they don't know off.

3. The holy holy ones.

These are the religious brothers and sisters you'd see on campus and they're very easy to recognize. The girls would always dress as modest as possible, wearing very long skirts while the guys are always seen with big Bibles. Some of them would look at you and they could literally tell if you'd go to heaven or hell. Lol.

4. The entrepreneurs.

These are the business people who came to school for business purposes. They hope to become the next Dangote or Alakija in the business world as they would always monetise whatever help they render to you. They sell things like recharge cards, snacks and other things to their fellow students.

5. The Godfathers and Godmothers

These are the people you meet first when you first entered campus. They are the ones that show you around school and tell you how things are done in school. They are usually older students who are usually 2-3 years older in school.

6. The "parasites".

These so called "friends" are always around you for what they can get from you, hence the term "parasites". They would make you share your food, clothes, perfume, cream and everything with them and sometimes you'd wonder how they survive till they graduate. When you watch them closely, they never disturb their parents for food money when you can hardly survive without calling your parents for money. Often times, you try as much as possible to avoid these kind of people.

7. The serious ones.

These are the nerds. They are only in the university for one purpose: to learn and get good grades. They are often called the serious students due to the fact that they are always seen at the library and wouldn't engage themselves in anything that isn't "educational". People like flocking around these people only during assignments or when the exam is close due to what they gain from their intelligence.

So which group did you belong to in your University days? Use your comment section

The serious ones

Foreign Affairs / Re: Idriss Deby: Boko Haram's Resilience Is Unprecedented by Westerville: 6:23am On Mar 28, 2021
owobokiri:
Read carefully:

1)Chad and her blood gulping president know everything about Boko Haram.
This man has been fighting and killing since the 70s. Fought with Nigeria, fought with Libya, sent rebels into the heart of Khartoum some years back.. Idris was born to war...

2)The French and the Americans have some troops stationed in Chad!
Americans have a base in Niger with new facilities for drones!
Under Jonathan, the Nigerian government allowed the Americans to fly their drones across the north east airspace to "gather intelligence" on Boko! Very naive if you ask me, .. Someone might be telling Boko Haram about troops movements!

3)Boko seldoms disturbs Chad!
The Chadian president used to be the army chief in the 80s under Hussien Habre before turning against him. He was the army head when Nigeria fought a very swift but brutal war with Chad over her incursions into Nigeria! Buhari was commanding Nigerian troops then..

4)Locals in north eastern villages have CONSISTENTLY complained of helicopters dropping supplies to Boko Haram fighters in the bush!
According to them, the pilots are mostly whites!
One such helicopter crashed and actually a white was caught, dollars too! Leaks revealed Turkeys involvement. Countries loyal to America refused to sell weapons to Nigeria under Jonathan following Americas instructions..

5) IMPORTANT:
The French are increasingly worried about Nigerias "growth", especially under Jonathan and are thinking that a strong regional super power in west africa will undermine her amazingly lucrative imperialist ventures here! They're thinking of the future here and might be toying with the idea of balkanizing Nigeria..
Idris Derby is a stooge of the French, just like Eyadema, Biya, Bongo, Nguesso, Quattara, and most presidents of French speaking African countries..

6) IMPORTANT AGAIN:
Actually, Nigeria is now totally encircled by western forces, but because we have been very unfortunate with a series of dumb governments, this issue is seldom discussed.
There are French military bases in Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Benin Republic, together with the AFRICOM base in Niger.. All our neighbors! Pretending they're fighting isis, while Boko Haram grows..

Reach your own conclusions but mine is simple:
Boko Haram is a typical western "state destabilizing project" unleashed to subvert the abilities of a growing economy to challenge the neo-colonial status quo! Such projects are not new. Remember the Ortegas in South America? They were fighting insurgents like this, just that it's easier to achieve the goals here with religious zealots.. Shekau doesn't even know he's a stooge. Not sure he knows where his weapons are coming from..But the presidents of Niger, Chad and all these French West African colonies are aware.
What's more? Most of them are getting some crude oil stolen from Nigeria and so, do find the project relatively rewarding! They can't object anyways, if they do, there will be a coup the next week...

And that is why they give deaf ears to Nigeria disintegration, because they knew that they ain't getting nothing.

Family / Re: My Wife’s Salary Was A Mystery Until I Discovered How Much She’s Truly Worth* by Westerville: 6:08am On Mar 26, 2021
izito:
*

In 2016 she told me her salary was #50.000 And then two years later, when she got promoted, I asked about her salary and she said, “Oh these people, don’t mind them. They added only #5000 to my old salary. Because of her meager salary, I’ve taken up so many responsibilities in the house without complaint. I pay for utilities and pay for food. I pay the fees of our two kids, clothe them, and take care of their medical bills. When my wife sends me a grocery list, she adds sanitary pads. She buys dresses and clothes, comes to show them to me, and asks me to pay for them. She started talking about a car when our second child came in. Things weren’t good on my side so I asked her to give me some time. She said, “I’ve saved something. I can add it to what you have so you pay me when your money comes.”

I agreed and took that money from her, topped it up to get her a car. For three months my ears never rest. She would wake up at dawn and ask me to pay what I owed her. I got tired and paid the money when I didn’t have much in my account.

One evening, I turned my laptop on and saw a lot of emails. I checked and it was my wife’s email that had been opened. I asked her, “Did you use my laptop?” She answered, “Yeah I was checking something.” I told her, “Then you didn’t log out.” She answered, “I forgot. Please log out for me.” I was about to log out when something caught my attention. I saw a mail with the subject, “January Payslip.” I opened and started going through. When I saw her gross salary, I was shocked. #400,734? And this girl has been crying poverty?

I went through the details. That night I couldn’t sleep. I was angry. I felt let down. I felt cheated. I felt played. We’ve been married for six good years and my wife earned that much without my knowledge? How much she earned didn’t bother me a lot than what she was using that money for. I decided not to talk immediately but rather do a little bit of investigation.

All my life I’ve held the view that it wasn’t right for anyone to go through their partner’s phone. It’s an invasion of privacy and it breeds mistrust in the relationship but that night, going through her phone was the only way to find out what I was looking for. I started with her best friend. Nothing much was found. Her family had a Whatsapp group. I read the messages there. I got few hints. I went through the chat with her father and that was when I realized my wife had bought a piece of land and had started building. Her father was in charge of the project. He had sent photos of the various stages of the building. At some point, her father said, “Thank you for helping out your brother. He would have been home had it not been you.”

She has only one brother—her senior brother. I went to look for the chat between them. Her senior brother lost his job and was home doing nothing so my wife bought her Hyundai i10 to use for Uber. Every week, her brother rendered an account and they split the money. From all indications, my wife was doing well for herself while she plays poor so she could rely on my salary. Why would she do that? I thought I was being a supportive husband so my wife could be proud of the man she married. When we bought land, it was her name and my name that appeared on the land title. That car I bought for her with a loan from her bears her name. I didn’t mind. I believed what’s hers was also mine.

The next morning she realized I wasn’t looking well. I was boiling on the inside but looking for a good opportunity to start the conversation. When I calmed down a little, I asked her, “So why would you do that to me?” She asked, “What have I done?” I answered, “You bought land, you never told me. You started building on it, you never told me. When are you going to tell me?” She was shocked. She asked, “Who told you all that?” I said, “Your father did.” She stood quiet for a while. She asked, “Why would my father tell you all that? What were you people talking about” I said, “I don’t know. You can ask him.”

We left it there. Some minutes later she came to me with her phone: “My father wants to talk to you.” The phone was already on a loudspeaker. His father was clearly angry. He asked, almost shouting, “You said I told you my daughter has a building? Where did I say that and when?” I asked, “Is it not true that my wife has a building project going on that you’re supervising?”  He asked me, “I told you that?” I asked, “Is it true or not?” After the back and forth I told them, “I read your messages last night. I saw the pictures. I read the various budget you had sent to my wife. I read the confirmation of the money receipts that you sent her. You’re a man. Would you be happy if your wife does this to you?” He started fumbling. He started apologizing saying he thought I was aware.”

My wife stood there motionless, didn’t know what to say. When her father hung up, I told her everything I knew, from her salary to the car she bought for her brother. I said, “Yet, even your sanitary pad, I buy them. You think I’m a fool? You’ll use your money to acquire your own properties and live on mine because you’re my wife? I hear. We’ll see.”

Trust was lost. Love was broken. We had to find a new way of living our lives going forward. Her father called me every morning and evening apologizing for everything and sometimes taking up the blame so I didn’t have to blame his daughter. I told him, “The emotional state I’m in right now, it would be hard to think straight or think forgiveness. Just give me space.” Three days later, they were in our house. The father, the mother, and the senior brother. They came to apologize. “Don’t let this break up the beautiful marriage you both have. If nothing at all, consider the kids and be lenient in your judgment.”

I listened to them. My position was still the same. “I need time to clear my mind. Just leave me alone to think.” From last month to this moment that I’m writing this, my wife had changed totally. She doesn’t ask for money but the house is being run smoothly. She has started paying for things she never paid for but that doesn’t move me. She has taught me a very great lesson and I’m taking it seriously. That in everything, I have to look out for myself and my family first. Last she told me, “If you want us to change the names on those properties, we can do so.” Guess whose name is on the property…her father’s name.”

I told her, “You don’t need to change anything. They are yours. You suffered for them so you can decide what you want to do with them.” The land I bought has our names. I’m selling it and take my money back. The car she’s driving has her name. I put a for-sale sticker on it some weeks ago. She agreed she’ll pay for the car. I’ve given her two months to pay up or I sell it and take my money. She’s getting the message and I’m glad. Each one for himself, God for us all. She keeps asking if I’m going to leave her. I keep telling her I won’t but if she wants a divorce, I will gladly give her. I’m not going to leave the marriage. I would give us some time to heal and see what may happen but when it comes to money, I’ve taken the lesson she taught me through her actions.

That's what NNPC has been screaming since forever

At some point keeping fuel cheap is going to cost you billions of money that could have been used for other things.Like new refineries

It is time to let subsidy go. Many African countries who are poorer than us pay higher for fuel.

Subsidy has cost us billions in lost revenue and investment in new refineries and by extension jobs. Plus since 2012 the oil revenue has not been able to sustain the subsidy well. Time to let it go

But people like you were shouting when Jonathan wanted to remove the subsidy and fix the refinery when the price of crude was booming. Now that the economy is hard is the right time to remove the subsidy abi, iro , awọn hippocrites

This is a good development, but do they have authority to checkmate the offenders. Becuase can just hop in,tap the card on the card reader without money inside the card,,many cities that operates such buses has security to checkmate people who failed to pay,,,for example in Dubai, They have RTA official, they stop the bus any time any where and check everyone's card if they have paid, failure to do so you pay a fine of 210dhs, which about 20k Naira. If you don't pay it there you land in prison. Same in NY and UK etc.If not people will just use the bus dey cash cruise.

Why head is difficult,no initial body movement,no positioning , when the ball is on the air,no body knows the direction where the ball is on the air,so it makes it difficult for keepers to calculate. Most keepers calculate your body movement.
