Your wife needs to attend serious marriage counselling. It hasn't occurred to her that she is married. If you'd read that portion of scripture in its context, you'd have realised that the "Letter" refers to the LAW that was written down. This is why a diligent study of scripture is pertinent. Reading the bible is not an esoteric act. There is no "allowing the Spirit to speak to you". Those words, especially from the psalms,prophets, the gospels, and the epistles, were spoken and written down by the inspiration of the spirit. Your responsibility is to study diligently, and avoid reading your own meaning into texts as you did in the scripture you quoted. Why do you think there are "sincere" preachers/Christians with erroneous doctrines?

Not that any of them is desirable, but a nagging wife is better. Nagging might just be the evidence that she's still interested in the marriage(not all cases though); the husband could curb it by reasoning affectionately with her(also not in all cases, some women no dey hear word) .
