CrimeNigeria Loses N127b Yearly To Cybercrimes by Whizpeter(op): 10:48pm On Jan 03, 2017
A cyber security group, Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) has estimated that Nigeria loses about N127 billion to cybercrimes yearly.

It said several cases of cyber crime activities in the country, many of which have resulted in financial losses by individuals and organisations, had been widely unreported.

The CSEAN said the country might face even greater odds in cybersecurity threats this year.

It, however, identified five cyber crimes that will dominate Nigeria this year based on the current trends as CEO e-mail scam, ransomware, online-assisted kidnapping, cyber bullying and online impersonation.

https://cdn.guardian.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/hacker-downloading-information-off-a-computer.jpg

CSEAN President, Remi Afon, who said that the year 2017 would witness more ransomware than ever seen before in Nigeria, stated that with the rise of ransomware-as-a-service, cyber criminals could now purchase a user-friendly kit they could deploy with little or no cyber know-how from the dark web.

He described ransomware as a type of malware that infects a machine when a user clicks on a seemingly legitimate link and unknowingly downloads a malicious file. The virus will then encrypt the user’s files, share drives and servers, leaving them inaccessible unless the victim pays for the decryption key usually in cryptocurrency.

He said: “That kidnapping is on the rise in Nigeria is no news. What many people don’t know is that kidnappers are being assisted by their victims’ social media online activities and geolocation data on their smartphones. Geolocation data is information that can be used to identify an electronic device’s physical location.”

According to him, using smartphones’ built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) functionality allows location-based services (or geo-location) to locate and publish information about smartphone owners’ whereabouts.

He also identified online impersonation, which he categorised into two, as another top cyber crime to watch out for in 2017. He said while the first category impersonates politicians and religious leaders on social media by creating fake profiles with the aim of scamming their victims, the second usually creates fake profiles with attractive fake pictures so they can engage in what is called ‘romance scam’.

Afon stressed that cyber criminals were mainly interested in targeting foreigners, claiming they were in love with them and establishing a love relation to be able to swindle them.

SportsGuardiola Regrets Starting Iheanacho Against Burnley by Whizpeter(op): 9:08pm On Jan 03, 2017
https://cdn1.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Klopp_Guardiola-Dec2016-615x400.jpg

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted he made a mistake not starting Sergio Aguero and David Silva, in their 2-1 win over Burnley on Monday night.
Guardiola picked Kelechi Iheanacho upfront in place of Aguero, as City struggled to beat Sean Dykes’ team.

The two players were eventually introduced from the bench, with Aguero scoring the crucial second goal for City.
“Sure it was a big mistake, you are right,” Guardiola said when asked during his post-match interview, if he regretted leaving the pair on the bench.

City were reduced to 10 men in the second half, after Fernandinho picked up his third red card of the season and it was a decision that left Guardiola baffled.

“We will accept. Like I said before, the team with more ball possession we have always sending off. I have to understand the rules here in England. I know you are specialist but I have to understand it,” he said.
“Of course yes. Around the world our keeper in the box is fouled, not here. I have to understand that. Claudio Bravo is fouled.”

PhonesRe: My Phoñe Is Not Detecting Network. Whats The Cause? by Whizpeter(m): 11:24pm On Jan 02, 2017
Dunno what he meant by NETWORK switch... But if he meant that cable that connects the antenna of the phone to the panel, then he maybe correct... And yes it could cost as much as 2k to replace it...

There's a cheaper way of fixing it, but it's like the Kazeem way of fixing phones...

You use solder to assist the cable in doing its job, sometimes it's used to replace it entirely and sometimes, it could be used at one end... A good engineer should know how to do this but he won't tell you cos it ain't a recommended fix to the prob... While a bad engineer won't tell you but he would still do it and collect money for a new cable...

If you have 2k,just pay the engineer and sit down with him while he does the job, this is to make sure that he actually replaces that cable...

Since you just "love the looks" why don't you snap the Benz, frame the picture and put in your bedroom so it's the first thing you see every morning and before you crash to bed there is no orgasm more thrilling than that.

Then buy the second one you know how to maintain. Just my opinion

The most stupid stunt you can perform as an Android user is to perform a major modification to your phone without having a backup..

If you have a custom recovery installed, you can search for a stock rom online and flash it via the custom recovery..

If you don't have a custom recovery, then you may need to use sp flashtool...

This would surely give you hands-on experience by the time you're done...!
