Christ himself did not condemned the law but only corrected it's interpretation the same way did Paul. Paul himself performed the act of the law when he shaved according to the law. He was actually telling them that they should not take the practice of the law as a priority but mercy of God which bring about grace, it was for mercy that Jesus forgave that adulterous woman who could have been condemned because of law. Jesus went on and said go and sin no more, that did not exonerate the woman from the act of the adultery.
