my question is that which of the schools in the US does that? we need to know those Schools ( I hope Arkansas State University don't do that ooo? because I just applied) so that future applicants do not fall in that category again.. and I have just applied to Arkansas State University.. I hope they don't do that sha... I pray Arkansas State University come out good for me.. I'm hopeful...

Schools have admission department when this na their only work all day, alternatively you have agencies like WES when this is their full time work so if its that one, its not hard . they do what they need to do to ensure admissions are given to candidates that they want or need . The rate of student graduating is important to them so the entry Gatekeeping of admission is taken seriously

I would even speculate that schools have OCR scanners that can scan and take the content of a transcript and then the computer will impute and run the numbers and conversion.........all automated so wont even take 5 minutes to do. If OCR can pick up paper invoice details it can easily do a transcript

Multiply the new points given above by the course unit as usual (i.e. a 4-unit course you got a b in would now be b+ on the US scale = 3.33*4 = 13.32 grade points, a 3-unit course you made a c in would now be b on the US scale = 3.0 * 3 = 9 grade points, etc.). Then sum up the total grade points for all semesters from first year to final year and divide by the total number of units from first year to final year.

Thank you @Lagosismyhome for the info, but do you think schools in the US will have time to calculate this on each applicants? That's my opinion though? I just think its would be take alot to calculate all this on base by base issue !!

Thank you @slimmy2005 , I used the WES evaluation calculation and it's was 3.06/4.0 ..and I don't even know why they keep arriving at 2.5 and co. Despite the fact that most of the schools exempt Nigeria for TOEFL (meaning they have few Nigerians in the past) . so why are they saying this....

I have spent alot of money of Graduate Application and I'm down casted because of refusal of Applications!

The problem I'm having with schools in the US is that my score is very low... despite using WES calculator, most of the school are saying they calculate my GPA as 2.5/4 . the schools are West Texas A & M University, Southern Illinois university carbondale , Washington State University despite the schools saying the minimum requirement is 2 7/4.0...Please guys, what is wrong in this my Result . I have 3.24/5.0 and they are saying its very low.. Please give me advise... I have applied for Murray State University now.. Please what do you think I should do and what is wrong with it?

The Vo knows you cant have the money for your studies all by yourself , except if you are financially buoyant .. Been married has nothing to do with your father paying your bills !!!!!!!!!!!!

So i googled "U.S student visa interview :nairaland" about 3weeks before my interview. I have a virgin passport, first time I'm applying for any visa and also, i applied to just one school. I literarily read every transcript form thread 9-11, coupled with fasting and prayer and after everything.........................hmm
It was approved
While on the queue, I didn't listen or look at the peeps being interviewed, cause I knew too much rejections might throw me off my game
I only listened when I was queued at window 5, and I was lucky enough to hear the V.O tell the guy being interviewed to keep is answers brief and straight to the point (my sister told me to give detailed explanations for every question and I planned to do just that). Surprisingly, the V.O started staring straight at me even though the guy being interviewed was still answering his questions. He rejected the guy, I stepped forward and my transcript goes thus:

V.O: Good morning (with a smile)
Me: Good morning (with my fake smile)

V.O: So why are you going to the U.S? (Starts typing)
Me: For my MLA

V.O: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: I considered three but applied to just one

V:O: Which schools did you consider?
Me: Colorado state Uni
Pennsylvania State Uni
WVU

V.O: What did you study as an undergrad?
Me: Botany

V.O: So what's the course about
Me: LARC utilizes core aspects of science and arts to produce the best use of........

V.O: You said Arts? So how does this relate to botany?
Me: A key part of botany is horticulture, which involves the use of ornamental plants for artistic purposes

V.O: *Nodds* (types furiously for what seemed like 24hrs) Study hard and goodluck (with a smile and an outstretched white paper
Me: Thank you very much (with a real smile )

Thanks for the response , as for the course I studied political science and am applying for criminal justice. Moreover the school said they don't require any standardized test for making admission decision, however I will write it for consulate sake. But I requested for funding and I was told I can apply for funding that is graduate assistance, what is my chance of getting the funding when the school said standardized test is not required.

Well well, I guess a lot of factors are consider for funding ...like the number of Applicant,Transcript, results, your statement of purpose, recommendations and all that .. What is the name of the school? You are good to go Bro. ...no fear. .

The school I intend to apply to want to evaluate my transcript internally and am not sure if my CGPA will meet the required 3.0/4 for the M.Sc program. Although I have used various evaluation free calculator including WES. while some re more than 3.0 some calculator are lesser.
My CGPA is 3.79/5

I can categorically tell you that you are good to go with the result ... but I think you should tell us the course or program you are applying for. but 3.75/5.00 is over 3.23/4.0 US grade scale ..if I am not mistaken !! make the school evaluate am with any calculator you will still make that 3.0 !!

You should have asked the grad cord specific requirements for admission, if you had asked, you wont be in this situation. Not all requirement are explicitly stated on most school's website. WES is expensive and takes average of 1month or more depending on how fast your undergraduate school respond. Go to www.wes.org to use the free online cgpa conversion to convert your cgpa to a scale of 4, that should give you an idea of your cgpa if you decide to do the official WES evaluation. Even if your CGPA is not 3/4 after using the WES online calculator, there are many schools that will still grant you admission with your present CGPA, so don't sweat it, just research well. By the way, its even funny you are down because of one school's application, do you know the strength it requires to keep up with about 6 schools applications which is what most people here do?. In summary, brace up and pull yourself up.The battle is not for the weak

Hello guyz, Please I strong need your help as regards my situation I have been down for a long time after applying and paying for my application fee for a graduate study at WEST TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY for MS in Agricultural Science. I was told that they will need WES evaluation before they can work with my transcript ...My question is that ,can i just neglect the application fee and look for another school or pay for the money for WES ? I dont even know how much is the fee for the Evaluation ...Please Help me ..I am tired of this whole thing.
