So when do you plan to go?

breakice31:

Huh…my school resumed yesterday.
I already deferred to April before I got my study permit approval. Deadline was 16th, I got my approval on 20th and now my passport is yet to be returned so they will just defer my admission till next semester.
Every stage in this Canada sojourn comes with its own hurdle.

When is your school resuming?

breakice31:

My passport got to Abuja VFS on 23 Dec. I got email notification that it is under process with IRCC on 29 Dec. I haven’t heard from them yet that my passport is on its way back to me oh. These holidays I guess is holding it back

When did you submit?

styx1:
Hi guys....So Nairobi has responded to my email this morning that our visa is on the printing queue but they can't say when we will get it back....so I guess the anxiety has subsided a bit now.... hopefully we will get it back this week.

Now I can rest. grin

It's really fustrating, my sibling has her flight booked for Friday we're still waiting for a positive response.

NGOZIGLORI:
Same thing here ... submitted on the 23rd,then the mail on the 28th that it has gotten to Abuja till now nothing yet oo.
The thing is so tiring.
I'm still optimistic that before the end of tomorrow we will be notified.
They ought to know that schools resume by first week. And students will need their passport to travel. Why frustrate people with this unnecessary delay. .

Every stage in this thing is just one big huddle.

I just pray it will not continue like this when the person gets there...

God please see us through and perfect this good thing You have done for us oo

Thanks for this, I always tell people PDP lost it immediately they decided not to give obi the ticket, they could have won this election fairly easily because they already have the structure, they'll have to wait for their time. I just want whoever emerges winner to give us good governance.

Olamilekxy:
People dont really know why the G5 are giving Atiku so much trouble, makinde said in one of his interview that, they had agreement in 2019 that they wont work for another northerner in 2023, but it seems pdp thinks they can do shit and gave the president ticket to Atiku, they could have given it to Obi and they will be ahead of APC in this election, and what they did just favour APC.

How much is Frank fee because all these people I'm seeing are just calling big big money

Yumamm:
I should have dropped this earlier but the festivities and the magnitude of the joy of receiving PPR for my Spouse and my Son carry me go where I no know.

This whole Japa of a thing started late 2021 when some of my Spouse friends started moving to the United Kingdom. She even got admission into one of the Universities in the Uk before she changed her mind that we should try Canada instead. However, I have already developed an interest in migrating to the Uk after I discovered many of my folks are there already as well. Moving forward, we contacted an agent based in Canada to help in securing an admission for her and packaged her application but Omo, the cost was too enormous. We later got the admission through him but I had a change of mind after I came across this thread. Although to be honest, I am not good at writing so attempting Her SOP would be a disaster, Hence I contacted Mr. Frank of F&R GLOBAL to handle the application and that was the best decision I took in the year 2022. I did my background check for weeks on Mr. Frank which came out PASSED before we proceeded into the full business. There was this statement from Mr. Frank when we were talking via the phone on that blessed morning. " He said if I collect your money and block you, the police will be running after me, I won't have time to attend to other clients" I can assure you working with this man has been a blessing to my entire family because of his professionalism and humility.

My Spouse & Son Study permit Timeline:

First time Applicant!!!

Travel history: UAE.

Application Submission date: 1st of Sept,2022

Biometric date: 6th of Sept,2022 Updated same day.

Upfront Medicals date: 22nd of September and Updated on the 29th of September, 2022 after few Messages and webforms sent to Nairobi.

Eligibility Review :15th December, 2022.

PPR for Mother and Son: 28th December,2022.

Furthermore, I sent a lot of messages and webforms chai... I was following the protocols of not spamming them with messages even after the application have past the 12 weeks standard processing time. But when I read @rexokemute story, Omo I started firing messages and webforms to ROME,BEIJING,LAGOS,LONDON,ABUJA,NAIROBI,RROC and even the Main IRCC. In fact I was so tense that I even sent one message unconsciously on Saturday to NAIROBI and that was when I received the scary warning message from Nairobi to withhold my messages or else...Omo my heart beats heavily and I could not even inform my wife about it because she has already stylishly warned me not to bombard them with emails. I stopped messaging them instantly lol.

I noticed the Eligibility review started for both of them immediately after the main IRCC forwarded my webform message dated 14th of December, 2022 to Nairobi, because I could see that from the warning message they sent to me on the 17th of December,2022, That must have triggered the officer in charge to open up the files. I think sending webforms and messages to other processing offices helps more than bombarding the primary office alone because it seems they acknowledge there's more. ROME IMMIGRATION OFFICE provided me some information indirectly by replying and forwarding my messages to NAIROBI.

To Everyone expecting PPR, Please do not give up, be hopeful and try as much as possible to ignore negative thoughts, it will drop sooner than expected

Thank God for journey mercies, what flight did you board and how do people going to Canada avoid this scenario?

Oldfashioned145:
Ok guys so the continuation....

After I landed at Doha. It was a pretty cool airport where everyone was taking pictures with Messi on a small billboard in the airport.

I had a layover for 6 hours and before I could board the plane I was told to check in my carry on because the airplane was too small ( I foolishly did and herein lied my first mistake).
Me thinking at least I won't be struggling with bag from plane to plane took the relief and boarded the plane only for me to land in Toronto and here a big problem started.

I landed in Toronto on the 24th and was told my flight had been cancelled that I should go make a reservation upstairs.

Easy peasy right.... Well it wasn't because I needed to telephone their agents and there was quite a queue.

Eventually I got on the telephone, was placed on hold for 2 hours by then the queue was becoming more and more longer and then to my frustrations the only thing I got from the agent was that my bags had already been checked in and before she could reschedule I needed to go check out my bags at the airport desk then re phone them again.

Which meant I had to Requeue.

After checking out my bags I had to get something to eat and woooah Toronto tax was pretty not pocket Friendly.

I had to Requeue which meant I spent my night on the queue because the line was very long like filling station fuel scarcity long and then add the extra 2 hour hold on every call made.

I managed to get on the phone Christmas morning and boom my flight was rescheduled to 29th and it wasn't a direct flight anymore it was a connecting flight to Calgary

Anyways lemme cut the long story Short.

I fell sick at the airport, like vomiting blood that kinda sick and also air pressure was trapped in my ear because of the plane descent and all my drugs were in my checked in bags. I was also really cold at the airport like freezing cold i had to be washing my hands with hot water every 30.min

But shey you dey whine divine health ni?

Had to find an airbnb. AirBnB was really cool.

Landed in Calgary on the 29th by 12 midnight. Slept in the airport because my connecting flight to Regina was 30th by 9am.

Finally got to Regina... woooah and its been great so far.

I'm Greatful to God for divine strength because my journey wasnt like the others but I sailed through.

PS. CBSA didn't really ask me anything they just printed my study permit and the officer asked me what was my school and program. That's all although there was one man officer that was really tackling students baba was even asking indian students what was their favorite dish.

AND MY PEOPLE AS I SIT HERE TYPING THIS I HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANY OF MY BAGS yet BUT AIR CANADA MATTER DON TIRE ME anytime they're ready so am I apparently my bags were still in Toronto when I landed at Regina but.....

To God be the glory

I changed part to usd and funded my dom account so i could use my usd card. I did not want to carry cash and be worried about change. I plan on apply for Form A - upkeep maintenance so i can use bank rate for the rest (upkeep maintenance is now once a year).

At POE i was asked for only my letter of introduction and visa.

Nah, i dont know any one schooling at centennial. I booked an airbnb online before my departure. (book early so you can get it cheap).

Did you change your currency to dollars from Nigeria? Or what will you advise about currency?

What were the documents asked at the POE Canada?

Do you know anybody (FEMAle) going to centennial college or how did you book your Air BNB?

*At immigrations in Canada I was only asked if I brought meat. I said no and I was handed my study permit.
* I applied in July, was approved in Nov.
* Used the new portal cos I did not want to fill those Pdf forms on the old Portal.
* Non accompanying siblings/fam members are good home ties, ensure you upload anything linking you to them. (Pictures, birth certificates etc)
* I can't tell if they will be contacted or not.

Cheers.

Landing gist....

Everything from my admission to my arrival in Canada was my first attempt and I thank God for his grace.

My flight departure time was 1:40pm, it was moved to 1:20pm and I didn't know till I arrived at the airport, thankfully I was there 4 hrs to the time. See crowd (people dey really comot naija o) the place be like island market, noisy, ridiculously small, hot and unorganized.
Got in with fam members who came to see me off and firstly the scanner did not work for several minutes. When it finally worked/scanned my bags, I headed to the airline saying excuse me up n down so I could pass the crowd.
Omo despite all my arrangements the bags were 30kg each instead of 23kg each, na there I begin bargain for the excess luggage and had to settle them before I was able to check-in the bags. From there to immigration and customs, they were very fast, I only submitted my passport/tickets and filled the yellow card.
We left Lagos 40mins late cos everybody wan board at the same time, dem just dey shout *queue up, single line* but e no work. We sha boarded and damn those Ethiopian airline crew ladies fine sha.
My first flight experience and first international flight, I just dey happy dey smile like cow. Food served was actually good just that dem wan use rice choke person. Lunch and dinner na rice every time throughout all the flights.
Flight was good, got to Addis Ababa and mehn come see airport na, large, organized and finally people come queue. We did the usual scanning and routine search and joined the next flight after 2hrs layover. The descending flight at Dublin was the worst, my head wan explode, my belle just dey turning on ein own. It was as though we were falling instead of descending. After an hour of refueling we flew to Toronto from there.
Flight to Toronto was good, we arrived and met the large beautiful airport. See crowd of first time students. I could count the blacks/Nigerians, the rest were Indians/Asians.
We queued, did self declaration (arrive-can was useless) and In a few minutes we were issued our student permits (it's usually the entire duration of the visa/length of program).
Got out of the airport to pick an Uber and it was as though I walked into a deep freezer lol, I immediately wore my winter jacket ontop of the sweater I was wearing, wore my hand gloves and I was fine.

Canada is large and beautiful. Tarred roads, the express had like 10 lanes each. I was debited for the Uber ride immediately I booked unlike naija where you are billed after your ride. The driver Even stopped to buy fuel (in my mind if na naija now u fit stop dey buy fuel when my trip dey read?)

If I could do this myself, I believe anyone can and I pray that everyone still praying and hoping on God will smile at the end.

Interested In the continuation of this, is there any need to get mint? And when did you book the Qatar airways that's 1.2?

Oldfashioned145:
Ok so here it is

LANDING GIST....

FIRSTLY thank you father for this opportunity to write this up, I'm forever gratsful, all glory honor and power belongs to you.

Ok so my flight was 23rd of of December via Qatar Airways ( 2 stops Doha and Toronto). Costs 1.2

Anyways got to the airport by after 5 because I live close to MMA ( e dey do me say I forget my sponge wey i put for ziploc bag Sef ).

Was asked for my passport and E ticket at the entrance then they wanted only me to go in without my dad, But my dad bless his heart pulled ranks as per immigration officer whey him be with multiple stamps on his passport. Them allow am enter fast fast.

We got to the weight scale and my properties were as follows one Ghana must go the gray one ( 29kg) , one box( 32kg) carry on( didn't weigh)and one laptop bag + hand bag.

The guy weighing the stuffs as per Jim dey find person wey go grease him Palms no gree answer me when I asked him for solution to this whole ordeal baba just say make I reshuffle con go pay 258 or so for excess luggage. I laughed

Anyways my dad had to buy another grey bag 3k when he saw that they were about to lock the gate. I reshuffled, dumped something I didn't need. Ok finally we got to an agreeable weight and the guy as per say I be student tell me say make I hehe commit my Garri because that's what making my bag weigh much. I did so and then after that one I proceeded to the first cubicle where I was asked for my passport and enrollment letter ( naija airport ooh). I gave to the man, he looked and looked at me I was like whahahlur. Finally he pushed me to the next cubicle where I was asked for my passport only before proceeding to check in.

I jammed another whahahlur here oh because these guys weighed my bags and opened their mouth waaaaah saying its too much blah blah blah that he can only push the First grey bag that the second one needs to be reduced. So me wanting to use wuru wuru sense went to remove my white Garri from my bag and put in my hand luggage ( don't mind me I forgot) . Sha after getting my three boarding pass, I moved to immigration where I was asked to place my belongings and all that Sha and remove my shoes ( na for here them confiscate my ijebu Garri, e pain me small, the woman officer con dey give me attitude untop the Garri sef rubbish. )

Got my carryon, my laptop bag and my handbags and now had to run Omo my shoulder almost dislocate

To be continued
