SportsSunday's Transfer Gossips: Lacazette, White, Walker-peters, Sancho, Wilson by WinningGoals(op): 2:44pm On Aug 09, 2020
Arsenal will sell France striker Alexandre Lacazette, 29, to Atletico Madrid for £30m as soon as Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 31, agrees a new deal.

Brighton have rejected a £22m bid from newly promoted Leeds for 22-year-old English centre-back Ben White, who spent last season on loan at Elland Road.

Liverpool are also interested in White, but Chelsea are prepared to outbid the Premier League champions and sell Germany centre-back Antonio Rudiger, 27, to raise funds.

Chelsea are also looking at Manchester City defender John Stones and hope to sign the 26-year-old England international for £20m.

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, with Tottenham and West Ham also interested in the 25-year-old Frenchman

Frank Lampard says Chelsea have the “opportunity to do something special” against Bayern Munich in Saturday’s Champions League last-16 second leg.

The Blues are bidding to overturn a 3-0 deficit at Allianz Arena.

Midfielders N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been deemed fit to play in Germany.

Asked if Chelsea can progress to the quarter-finals, Lampard said: “I believe we can, otherwise I shouldn’t be here.”

He added: “We have to believe, more importantly the players have to believe as they take on this game.

“It’s a huge task, no doubt. It’s going to be extremely tough, but games have turned to big degrees, some famous games, great games, so we have to believe we have the opportunity to do something special.

Manchester United will listen to offers for 27-year-old England midfielder Jesse Lingard.

Bayern Munich’s 29-year-old Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara wants to move to Liverpool, but the Reds would have to sell players to generate transfer funds.

Roma could revive their interest in a permanent deal for 30-year-old Manchester United and England centre-back Chris Smalling, who they had on loan last season, after the Italian club was taken over by new owners.

SportsChampions League Last 16: What Are Each Side's Chances? by WinningGoals(op): 10:19am On Aug 07, 2020
Who are the clubs well placed to progress from the Champions League last 16? And who has it all to do?

Football’s suspension because of coronavirus meant the competition was halted with four last-16 ties completed and four still to be concluded.

RB Leipzig knocked out Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid edged past Liverpool, Atalanta eliminated Valencia and Paris St-Germain fought back to see off Borussia Dortmund.

Two English sides remain in the competition – with Chelsea trailing by three goals against Bayern Munich, and Manchester City leading Real Madrid 2-1.

To assess the percentage chance of each side progressing, sports data analysts Gracenote have used their Euro Club Index – feeding the results.

SportsMan City Are Better Than Real Madrid by WinningGoals(op): 9:10am On Aug 07, 2020
Manchester City midfielder Rodri says they are the "better team" but will "have to prove it" to knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League.

City take a 2-1 lead into the last-16 second-leg tie at Etihad Stadium on Friday.

"We are going to suffer in some moments, but we have the mentality to get through," said 24-year-old Spain international Rodri.

"We can win the Champions League, not only this match."

Rodri, who joined City for a club record £62m from Atletico Madrid last summer, has impressed in his first season.

City finished second in the Premier League, while Spanish champions Real Madrid are the Champions League's most successful side in history with 13 titles.

City manager Pep Guardiola said it is "very difficult to analyse" opposite number Zinedine Zidane's tactics.

"It's difficult to know when you think you've one of his plans covered, he will hit you with another," said Guardiola.

"We've watched all their games since lockdown, spoken of how we think they'll approach it. We've talked of how we can hurt them and that's what we have focused on in the build-up to this game."

Manchester City have not made an approach for Barcelona right-back Sergi Roberto, despite being heavily linked to the 28-year-old Spain international – and do not plan to.

Manchester United’s English goalkeeper Dean Henderson, 23, is to demand first-choice status ahead of David de Gea if he is to return to Old Trafford after a successful loan spell with Sheffield United.

American billionaire and Roma owner James Pallotta has declined to comment on reports linking him to a takeover of Newcastle.

SportsFA Cup Final 2020: Chelsea Boss Frank Lampard Wants Players To 'Feel Pressure' by WinningGoals(op): 1:21pm On Aug 01, 2020
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard says his side “cannot cruise” into Saturday’s Heads Up FA Cup final against Arsenal.

The Blues have already qualified for next season’s Champions League by finishing fourth in the Premier League, but the Gunners must win at Wembley to qualify for the Europa League.

Lampard told BBC Football Focus: “I’ve heard how there’s more on this game for Arsenal, and that idea worries me.

“We must put ourselves under pressure. This is a huge game for Chelsea.”

Both Lampard and Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta can win their first managerial honours at Wembley – and both are on Football Focus from 12:00 BST on Saturday.

SportsSaturday’s Transfer Gossips: Sancho, Havertz, Coutinho, Willian, Guendouzi by WinningGoals(op): 12:09pm On Aug 01, 2020
Barcelona have made Manchester City’s 19-year-old Spanish centre-back Eric Garcia their top transfer target this summer.

Chelsea are close to agreeing a structured transfer deal with Bayer Leverkusen for 21-year-old Germany playmaker Kai Havertz.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang explored a move to Chelsea in January but the Blues could not meet the 31-year-old’s high wage demands.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has suggested Senegal centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly could be allowed to leave the club if his £81m asking price is met.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to accelerate their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund and England forward Jadon Sancho, 20, to avoid a repeat of last summer’s protracted move for Harry Maguire.

SportsArsenal FA Cup Final Win Could Help Aubameyang 'believe' - Mikel Arteta by WinningGoals(op): 11:39am On Aug 01, 2020
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says winning Saturday's Heads Up FA Cup final to secure European football next season may persuade captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to stay at the club.

Gabon striker Aubameyang, 31, has one year left on his contract.

"I don't have that feeling," said Arteta when asked if the game against Chelsea would be Aubameyang's last.

"Winning the trophy helps you believe. If you wear the armband and lift that cup, that will help."

Arsenal finished eighth in the Premier League, outside the European qualification spots, but victory over Frank Lampard's side at Wembley would mean a Europa League place for 2020-21.
