Lewis Hamilton says he is “completely overcome with rage” at events in the USA following George Floyd’s death. It is the second time Hamilton has spoken out this week in the wake of protests breaking out across the US. Floyd, an unarmed black man, died on 25 May after a white police officer, since charged with murder, knelt on his neck for several minutes. “This past week has been so dark. Robert Lewandowski scored twice against Fortuna Dusseldorf to equal his most prolific season as Bayern Munich moved 10 points clear at the top. Bayern were 3-0 up by half-time, Benjamin Pavard and Lewandowski scoring after Mathias Jorgensen’s own goal opened the scoring. Poland forward Lewandowski’s 43rd goal in all competitions this campaign made it 4-0 in a crushing win. Teenager Alphonso Davies added the fifth with a superb individual effort. The FA Cup quarter-finals have been rescheduled for the weekend of 27-28 June with the final set to take place on Saturday, 1 August. Premier League football is on its way back. No ball has been kicked in the top flight since mid-March after the season was suspended indefinitely because of coronavirus but players are back in training and it emerged on Thursday that the season is set to resume on 17 June. With social distancing rules in place, no fans in the stadiums, and the possibility of being able to make five substitutions, it will be a very different football to the one we enjoyed before the suspension, but it will at least allow the 2019-20 campaign to be completed. Italy’s football federation (FIGC) has set 20 August as the deadline for finishing the season, with the new campaign starting on 1 September. Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz has announced his retirement from professional football. With La Liga on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic, the 39-year-old is set to have a hip replacement.
