The current Barcelona superstar is a six-time Ballon d’Or winner but fellow Argentine prefers the Brazilian maestro. Martin Cardetti said he would choose former Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Ronaldinho over Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi. Ronaldinho enjoyed a stellar career with Barca, Brazil, Milan, and PSG, winning the 2005 Ballon d’Or, World Cup, Champions League, and La Liga among other honours. Messi – regarded as arguably the greatest footballer ever – has claimed a record six Ballons d’Or to go with 10 La Liga crowns, four Champions League medals, and more trophies. The Spanish goalkeeper has offered an insight into the German’s management style, insisting “he does his job passionately” and is always “optimistic” Adrian has hailed Jurgen Klopp for his “extraordinary” achievements at Anfield, while also describing the Liverpool boss as a “top strategist”. Klopp has gradually transformed Liverpool into Champions League winners and genuine Premier League title contenders since arriving on Merseyside in 2015, earning plenty of praise for his attack-minded, high-pressing philosophy the process. The Reds are now arguably the strongest side in European football, having set unprecedented new standards of excellence in the 2019-20 campaign while also winning the FIFA Club World Cup. Klopp’s men sit 22 points clear at the top of the Premier League, having won all but one of their 25 fixtures to date – successfully banishing the memory of their narrow defeat to Manchester City in last season’s title race. Liverpool is unbeaten in 42 top-flight matches, and they are also on course to defend their European crown and reach the latter stages of the FA Cup. Adrian is happy to credit Klopp for the team’s recent success, which he believes has come about because of the German’s “masterful” ability to get the best out of his players. Quique Setien was pleased by the manner of Barcelona’s comeback victory at former club Real Betis as the La Liga title race heats up. Having bowed out of the Copa del Rey to Athletic Bilbao on the back of a public spat between Lionel Messi and sporting director Eric Abidal, Barca could ill-afford a tough week getting worse at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Real Madrid’s comprehensive win at Osasuna earlier on Sunday ratcheted up the pressure on Barca, who fell behind after just six minutes when Sergio Canales struck home from the spot. Frenkie de Jong swiftly equalized, only for Nabil Fekir to put Betis back ahead in stunning fashion. Sergio Busquets took the wind out of the hosts’ sails on the stroke of half-time with another equalizer, before Clement Lenglet wrapped up a 3-2 win. Barca’s match-winner and Fekir were sent off towards the end of a night that left head coach Setien pleased – and his side within three points of table-topping Real Madrid. “I really liked the team,” he said after the match in quotes reported by Marca. “You have to give these things value. The former goalkeeper admits there will be little margin for error for the Red Devils when they arrive at Stamford Bridge next Monday Manchester United’s clash with Chelsea next week is “lose or bust”, according to Mark Bosnich, with the final Champions League spot in the Premier League table still very much up for grabs. United’s 0-0 draw at home to Wolves just before the winter break ensured that they remained six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea in the top-flight standings after 25 fixtures. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has slipped to eighth, with eight draws and eight defeats on their record, having been unable to string together a significant run of victories since the start of the season. Bosnich, who took in two separate spells at Old Trafford and played for Chelsea at the height of his career, believes United’s chances of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition could be over if they don’t secure a win at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
