This is horrible reporting. What is "altered gazetted act". The question is, does the gazetted act align with approved NA laws? Shikenah!
First, you said gazetted act doesn't align with house of assembly laws passed. You said we should wait for the approved CTC NA passed law for reconciliation againsy the gazetted act. What sort of confusion is "altered gazetted act"?
Should not all reconciliations and approvals have been done before the president signed the law?
PoliticsRe: National Assembly Disowns ‘Gazetted’ Tax Laws by wirinet(m): 6:54pm On Jan 05
Ayam not understanding o.
Which law was passed by the national assembly?
Which law was signed by the president?
And Which law was gazetted?
Are all three in agreement or are different.

According to my unlearned understanding, if the law passed by the national assembly is different from the law signed by the president, then the law itself is not valid, and cannot be said to be a legally enacted law.

You have nailed the point . These is the reasons many Nigerians need to support separations of local government from those state governors . Nigerians have many questions to ask many people including lg . Fg has generated his funds for the ministries, States and local government . It is now left to them how they make use of it in their respective Jurisdictions.
Which FG generated his funds? How? Abi na FCDA Abuja dey generate revenue into the federation account? Its the states that generates the funds, the Land Use Act of 1978 stole mineral resources (particularly crude oil and gas) from the states.

Vision101:
Not a single question. Ask Tinubu and ask state governors. The savings are shared. FG took some. States took some. The governors are very happy that the focus is only on Tinubu.
Tinubu alone got 52.68% of the revenue, the governors got 26.72, while the local governments got the remaining. So for obvious reason more focus would be on Tinubu.
PoliticsRe: Every Minister Knew Fuel Subsidy Was Killing Nigeria — Kemi Adeosun by wirinet(m): 11:36pm On Jan 02
We tried different things to stop fuel subsidy. Do you remember Sure-P? We knew that Nigeria has four international borders. And then you are subsidsing, but your own fuel was 44 per cent lower than that sold in other countries, and they are land borders.

“So, sometimes we ended up with a consumption base of like 65 million litres per day. So we did the maths.
I am disappointed kemi Adeosun whom I respect a lot is also avoiding the elephant or rather elephants in the room, which are;
1. Low wages of Nigerian workers. She failed to admit that wages in Nigeria are 200% to 500% lower that wages in other countries.
2. She fails to acknowledge that the main problem of the subsidy regime was not the subsidy itself but corruption. Subsequent governments were too scared to go after the subsidy thieves.

Love800:
What is the job of unions pls? Are they the same thing with local government?

All those agberos collecting money from bus and keke drivers, who are they working for?
All these unions like NURTW, PENGASSEN, NUPENG, etc., force people to become members, and then use force, threats and intimidation to collect union fees daily, sometimes per trip.

Agberos on the other hand are agents of the Local Government, their oga is given a local government ID card, and a bus stop to operate. He then hires boys to be collecting dues from bus drivers, kekes or Okadas that stops at that bus stop. The boys submit to their ogas, who in turn submit to the ogas at the local government.

Seem you didn't understand what I said, US is the biggest producer of oil and also the biggest importer of oil in the world despite her population been smaller than China anf India, why do you think they import that much oil ?
Oil reserves in case of war. Germany lost WW2 mainly due do lack of oil to run the war machine. US want to have the ability to take on the whole world without ever running out of oil. Missiles, ships, tanks, planes, etc run on oil, though lithium, cobalt and other rare earth minerals are increasing gaining importance due to the importance in battery technology for drones.

Even with 36 states and 774 local governments in Apc, Nigeria will remain a vibrant democracy as long as we are here so no worries.
Vibrant democracy when governors determine who is wins elections? Vibrant democracy when INEC still use 1960 election system and refuses to go digital? Vibrant elections when less than 20% of registered voters participate in elections, and the president was elected with less than 4% the total population?
Vibrant democracy indeed. Abacha would have had a more Vibrant democracy had he lived long enough to participate in the 1999 elections.

Wow what an eye-popping scene to witness. Too bad the north of Nigeria is at war now with no end in sight. I hear in Togo the same relaxed dress-code is allowed for marriage-aged young women in some villages. I'll have to make a pilgrimage there some day.
What many people forget is that this was the cultural reality of most Nigerian villages, including those in the North, before foreign religions and external cultures came to reshape our thinking.

In traditional African societies, nudity—especially female toplessness—was not viewed as sinful or immoral. Even today, in some traditional communities, young girls are allowed to appear topless during ceremonies where men of marriage age come to seek brides. The same pattern existed in parts of traditional Europe, where specific days were set aside for young women to present themselves in their finest attire to meet potential husbands.

In these societies, a woman’s body—particularly her breasts—was not sexualized. They were seen as symbols of fertility, womanhood, and beauty, not objects of lust. As a result, social values were clearly defined and strictly enforced. Acts such as rape, adultery, and infidelity were rare and strongly condemned.

Ironically, societies shaped by Islamic and Christian moral frameworks record far higher cases of rape, adultery, fornication, and general sexual immorality. Even more troubling is that much of this behavior occurs within churches and mosques, where it is often hidden, tolerated, or quietly excused.

Traditional societies, by contrast, did not excuse such acts. Moral boundaries were firm, consequences were clear, and community discipline was uncompromising.

Ahem, and which specific state and local government area of Nigeria would that be?

Asking for a friend, of course.

God breast Nigeria.
Sokoto in the 1980s. I did my A/Levels in Federal School of Arts and Science Sokoto. I hear its now a federal polytechnic. Its about 40 minutes from Sokoto itself, on the expressway to Ilela. The village was just about 15 minutes walk from the school inside the bush. Once a while we would treck to the village and see young girls of ages 13 - 18 running around topless.
PoliticsRe: No One Above 70 Should Be President, Governor – Pat Utomi by wirinet(m): 2:38pm On Jan 02
Nigerianlion:
Age alone should not decide leadership. What really matters is good health, clear thinking, and good ideas. Some people above 70 are still strong and capable, while some younger leaders fail badly. Instead of focusing only on age, we should judge leaders by their competence, integrity, and performance.
I disagree. Being president of a country is a very rigorous task, it requires extreme physical and mental strength. A person over 70 years do not possess the physical and mental capacity to effectively govern as president or even governors, with a few exceptions - aka Obasanjo.(When Obasanjo was president, he hardly slept up to 4 hours a day). The only other slight effective president after OBJ was Jonathan, even though he was rumoured to be drunk for half the day and only effective for about 8 hours a day. All other presidents Nigeria had produced outside these two were "baroque". They spent more time in hospitals and undergoing treatment than actual governance. We hardly see or hear from president Tinubu. We hear from the "presidency" most of the time. It seems its the presidency ruling Nigeria.

Even the US has suffered greatly from putting geriatric presidents into office for the last 14 years.

A 60 years old is already a retired civil servant.

Tinubu, Atiku and obi are too old to be president unless we are deceiving ourselves.
Me I believe anyone over 50 years should not be president. If you check Nigeria's demographics, over 90% of the population is under 50. If democracy is truly a representation of the masses, the average age of the president, governors, and elective office holders should be about 40 years.

The "it happens everywhere argument". That a crime happens everywhere is justification for its happening in Lagos? For your information, agberoism was introduced in Lagos by the Tinubu Administration. It was from Lagos Island it spread to other parts of Lagos and then other parts of Nigeria. Some miscreants tried to introduce it during the timevof Buba Marwa, he rounded them all up, and rehabilitated (locked them up) them in Epe.

You know the irony of the whole situation? Those villages where the young ladies go around topless are far more moral, than the burka wearing towns and cities. You hardly hear of rape, prostitution or sexual harassment. The ladies are married off early and you hardly hear of infidelity.

They are culturally influenced not religiously. Remember they are Northerners! Northerners have tradition even before the colonialist(evangelists) or Islam came to Nigeria.

Do you know nobody taught Northerners how to wear clothes👗👚👖? Unlike Southerners?
Talking from a position of ignorance, many indigenous northern communities to topless. I schooled in sokoto for two years - 1984 to 1986. There was a village not more than 15 minutes walk where the young ladies walked around topless. It's the Fulani jihadists that imposed their religion and culture on helpless Hausa communities.

You will destroy your house because someone is annoying u in it?
It is not some illiterate fundamentalists as you chose to minimise the issue, its about certain states of the federation choosing not to abide by the constitution.

What kind of coward assertion is this, that Nigeria should break up because of the activities of some illiterate Islamic fundamentals?
This is not about illiterate Islamic fundamentalists, its about a part of the federation choosing to live outside our shared constitution, its similar to declaring secession from the federation, its no different from the east declaring Biafra.

The Commission also cautioned against “ private conversations under the pretext of chatting between men and women, especially in ways that Sharia does not approve.”
Is this order or law not against Section 40 Chapter IV of the Nigerian constitution?

Section 40 (Chapter IV):
"Every person shall be entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any other association for the protection of his interests".

We really need to revisit the basis of the federation. We need to determine if we want to live together under one constitution, or devide into seperate countries under seperate constitutions. We can't continue to live as a country under 2 seperate constitutions.

I agree but these religious fundamentalist don't understand. Yes , God gives children shouldn't be an excuse for giving birth without check.
What religious fundamentalists aka fake moralists fail to recognise is that sex is a basic instinct, like hunger or thirst, it is hardwired into the genes, and not controlled by the brain, else we will only have sex when we want to have children. It means an average man or woman would have sex less than 10 times in a lifetime. Our genes forces us to have sex. It's vital for the survival of a specie, just as hunger and thirst is vital to the survival of the individual. The implications and consequences of sex should be taught and managed, and not denied like is being done by fake moralists. They cause worse damage to the society as a whole, and to the individual.
