gohf:Exactly. Father Christmas aka St Nicholas is more popular than Jesus during Christmas. |
GanagiBitrus:Christianity is a mishmash of pagan religions and Judaism. The Romans simply incorporated their pagan practices into Christianity. |
aribisala0:No one is saying recurrent expenditure is a bad thing, my argument is that the recurrent expenditure does not benefit the majority of the population, only a miniscule segment of the population - politicians, civil servants, and cronies, friends and families of those in government. The bulk of the police protect this class and not you and I. Report a threat or an attack on your home to the nearest police station and see if the police would come and rescue you. Go to the police state to report a case and see if you will not be asked to fund the investigation, or no action will be taken. Is this how police services work? Are we being policed? Same operates across all government services, education, health, water, power, etc. Its even worse in the North, people are dying because of N2000 Malaria drugs. People are drinking water you cannot have your bath in. As I reiterate, governance has broken down in Nigeria. |
aribisala0:You are now twisting your narrative. This is what you wrote, and I quote; The north gets more than the south when federal funds are sharedAfter showing this to be false, you now twisted to contributions. This type of revenue sharing is not peculiar to Nigeria, all countries of the world share revenue not solely based on contributions. In the US, states like California, New York, Florida and Texas contribute the bulk of Federal revenue, but states like Alaska, Wyoming, and Vermont contribute very little, but they still receive substantial allocations. In fact states like New Mexico and West Virginia are most dependent on federal money relative to their own revenue. I am not making excuses for northern states, we have to improve our revenue profile as a country. I don't see much difference between the northern states and southern states in terms of revenue generation. The only exceptions are Lagos due to VAT, and the Niger Delta states due to petroleum resources. Even the East apart from Imo state contribute little revenue to the federation account, and receive more than they contribute to the federation account. |
aribisala0:The north does not receive more federal allocation than the south. After adding crude oil derivation, VAT and regular allocations, Delta, Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states in the south receive more federal allocations thar all the northern states added together. When if we add the lopsided number of Local governments, the South still receives more total allocations than the north. Remember the sharing formula is Federal 52.68%, States 26.72% and LGs at 20.60%. The issue is not even about allocations, it's more a out the expenditure profiles of the 3 tiers of government which prioritize recurrent expenditure, which is the cost of running the government against cist of providing infrastructure, services and social amenities to the people. Very little of the allocations are actually spent to benefit the citizens.
|
HgAkpobomeEr:Then what of governance? Should governance not also be a social contract. Are you aware that most parts of the North do not experience any government presence at all? No schools, no water, so social amenities. |
mascot87:And how will that work? Do you propose splitting the country along pre amalgamation lines, or pre independent lines? |
Christmas celebrations preceded Christmas. Saturnalia in Roman or Yule in Nordic tradition celebrated the shortest day of the year, the rebirth of the sun. It was a day filled with larties, alcohol, and sexual sins. Christianity only continued with that tradition. |
SpencerForbes:My 14year old son is obsessed with chess. His ELO is about 900. |
heniford2:You guys claim to high the highest IQ in the universe, but find it difficult to engage in logical arguments. Which yeye stuff did I type? Had Anoma people ever in the history of Nigeria been united with their Igbo brothers politically? |
MadamExcellency:All these state and local government creation agitations are nothing more that sharing of national cake mentality of politicians and their blind supporters. Where will the money to run these new political entities come from? National cake of course. You create more governors, commissioners, law makers, judiciary, civil servants, local government chairmen, councillors, etc., and fund them from the same purse. We spend majority of our earned revenue pampering politicians, their families and their associates already. We have very little left for actual development, and we want to create more political offices? Already the amount of retirement benefits we pay past presidents and vice presidents, and past governor and deputy governor is humongous and is growing with each political cycle. Are we sane at all? Nigeria need no more than 6 - 8 states for effective governance. |
Ezeama400:Disaster waiting to happen. Anioma people no send core igbos o. My wife's mother na from Ababa, while her dad from Imo. She goes to Asaba often. The Anioma people have always been politically grouped with other tribes of the South South, like the Binis, Itsekiris, Urhobos, Ijaws, and even with the Yorubas in Western Nigeria, since colonial times. Breaking that political and brotherly love would be difficult. Lumping Anioma people with core igbos by force would cause a lot of suspicion and instability in the region. It's like carving Ikwerre people out of Rivers State and lumping them with the igbos. Disaster waiting to happen. |
FOLYKAZE:It's not possible for imported fuel to be cheaper than local fuel, its not economically sensible. Nigeria has the raw material - crude. Imported fuel will incure, loading cost from refinery to port, shipping cost including insurance from loading port Nigerian port, import duties and other taxes at the port, then ofloading costs to fuel depots. Dangote fuel does not incur this costs. The reason imported ports seems cheaper is because of the low quality of imported fuels, importers first import regular fuels from refineries abroad, the shop it to other countries for blending, the blend the fuel to make it cheaper, and then import this poor quality fuel to Nigeria. |
gotnel:Terrible advice. All of them put together cannot compete with Dangote. Dangote has advantage of scale - economies of scale. Even international oil giants are finding it difficult to compete with Dangote |
MartinCorridon:How is Tinubu dealing with Northern oligarchs or any oligarch for matter. Tinubu is only consolidating power gor 2017 elections. As Oshiomole once said, once you join APC, all your sins are wiped clean, and you become a new creature- a Saint. NMPDRA boss lose his job? Why? Has Wike that was alleged to have bought properties worth over 5 million in florida lost his job? |
Lanretoye:Favour is the new euphemism for corruption, dishonestly and cheating according to pentecostal Christians. |
loppy87:Are you aware he was promoted twice in one year? He was promoted to Colonel in January, and to Brigadier in December. This had never happened in Nigeria's history. |
loppy87:It's unfair not only to his course mates but the military as whole. What happens if President Tinubu loses the election next year? The new commander in chief demotes Brigadier Yusuf? OK, what about in 2031, can a new president demote or even retire Brigadier Yusuf? |
Chucks13:So all these is about 2031, and preparing for 3rd term? DHQ did not recommended double promotion for Tinubu’s ADC? Why would it ignore all other military officers and recommended only the ADC to the president? This promotion was ordered by the president as commander in chief of the armed forces, against military rules and guidelines. The tiger you guys are feeding would come back and swallow you. |
HgAkpobomeEr:A General should never be part of anyone's security detail. |
madridguy:In the military? Promotions in the military should be based on performance, courses attended and passed and established promotion progressions. Its kills military moral and spirit when command structure is disrupted at will due to political considerations. |
muyico:Read to report again to comprehend the reason for the judgement. The supreme Court says the executive cannot pardon a crime yet to be concluded by the judiciary, that would be usurping the powers of the judiciary. The case was still at the Supreme Court when president Tinubu announced his pardon. The court was yet to make its decision on the guilt or otherwise of the accused. How can the executive pardon a person yet to be conclusively found guilty? So the pardon was null and void ab initio. Now that the woman has been found guilty and sentenced to death by the Supreme Court, the executive can now exercise its power by granting her a pardon |
Emu4life:But Christian cannot drink beer in peace in Kano. Hisbah police arresting Christians and taken to sharia Court nko? |
Adaisback:Islamic and African traditional religion permits polygamy. |
I Konquest:Celebrating an interest rate of 27% is unrealistic. At that level, only trading, importation, and some service-based businesses can survive. For the real sector — manufacturing, agriculture, and construction — it’s a direct hit. These industries need time. From taking a loan to producing, and eventually selling to recover investment, the cycle can span 1 to 5 years before a single naira returns. On top of that, their operating costs are high, and their profit margins are usually below 30%. With numbers like these, a 27% interest rate is simply incompatible with growth. No country with serious development ambitions sets rates that high. Especially when competing globally — for example, with China, where interest rates are below 5% and operational costs are far lower. High lending rates don’t just slow the real sector; they wipe it out. |
Kobojunkie:Rubbish you say. Go scam a man to collect gifts and see if he will not collect all back if he takes you to court. |
Speaking during an interview with ARISE News on Monday, Onanuga said: “The security people, they know all the bandits that are operating in that axis. They know them. They know where they operate.”And you boss who is the commander in chief of the armed forces has done nothing? No head has rolled due to sabotage, negligence or simply incompetence. You want police Ken to face well armed militias that even the military can defeat. A well armed and battle ready militias thar just killed a general and the military seems powerless to do anything. |
Kobojunkie:You keep posting that your screenshot without context. Now, you circle unconditional gift? What do you understand by the the word "unconditional"? Apart from donations, inheritance and what hausa call "barra", is there any gift that can be considered unconditional gift. We all witnessed a lady fined and told to refund a monetary gift obtained from a man on the condition of transportation to his house. If I gifted you a car on the promise of love, and at the end you left me immediately you collected the car, is the gift still considered unconditional? |
ddippset:Don't mind them. Amaechi is the most honest (relatively that is) and courageous politician in the south south, if not the whole of Nigeria. He was the only politician that opposed the Amnesty Programme by Yaradua and Jonathan, on the basis of the injustice in rewarding criminality. See were we are today, granting terrorists Amnesty and absorbing them into the military. You think a president Amaechi would surrender to the Fulani cabal holding Tinubu in the jugular? He fought Obasanjo on resource control, fought GEJ, Patience Jonathan and Wike for autonomy. Amaechi is the only senior Nigerian politician without a militant group or thug support. He is still one of the very few that refuse to bow the knee to Tinubu. Oshiomole cannot hold a candle to Amaechi in any regard. |
VEE2010:Propaganda. Amaechi was fighting for his survival against Wike, Patience Jonathan and GEJ. Amaechi could not have remained in PDP that was hijacked by Wike and Jonathan, that was attempting to impeach him with 5 house members. |
Fuckyoumod:Imagine the bare faced lies. Amechi that was harrased and bullied as a sitting governor by both Wike and Patience Jonathan, with the endorsement of GEJ. Amechi that was driven out of PDP was the one that they are lying against that he left PDP because APC promised him presidential tickets? Do Tinubu people think we have short memory? |
Megastarfresh:But the same president declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, and suspended the Governor and legislature over what he described "as political impasse" in the state and the destruction of oil pipelines by militants allegedly sympathetic to governor Siminalayi Fubara. No state of emergency is declared in Abuja due to security impass in many northern states including Abuja. No state of emergency was declared in boko haram controlled states despite threats of military action by the US. The Tinubu administration has its priorities in politics and not in security or national development. |
