eddyline:Omokri is trying too hard to get noticed by president Tinubu. He is desperately seeking for appointment that has now taken up the role of unofficial government spokes man. His excuse of Dangote buying crude from US because of future contracts is hogwash. Thar will only pass for Nigerians without knowledge of what obtains in the oil industry. Appart from futures contracts of crude oil sales, there is the spot market. The government is very active is the sport sakes of crude oil. One the spot market, the government can sell to anyone and at any price without a contract. Furthermore, Nigeria has its allocated OPEC quota for local consumption. What happens to Nigeria's local crude oil allocations? Is it also sold under futures contract, sold on the spot market or simply stolen. 3 Likes |
Politics / Re: Is Colonialism The Primary Reason Why Africa Is So Poor? by wirinet(m): 1:35pm On Jan 28 |
DaveHarry: I beg to differ slightly. Africa is poor not necessarily because it failed to manage its natural resources, but because it failed to manage its natural resources. We rely too heavily on natural resources which in reality cannot by itself make any country rich. Japan has no natural resources, but is one of the top 6 or 7 economies I the world. Switzeland is a mountainous landlocked country with no natural resources, but its one of the top 10 economies by GDP per capita ranking. Congo Has about every natural resource in the world, but among the poorest nation on the planet. |

Sladem05:You must be joking. The poverty in the US is as terrible if not worse than thar of Nigeria. Have you seen the slums of LA, they are worse than Ajegule. Yes we have more poor people in Africa, bit poverty is also an issue in Europe and the US. |
Politics / Re: Nigeria Is SAFER Than The USA. Discuss. by wirinet(m): 9:57am On Jan 20 |
Sladem05:Not exactly correct. All parts of the world has their own particular disease depending on environment and climate. The hot and humidity tropics harbour more varieties of diseases than the cold poles. The issue is not really about the number of diseases themselves but on spread from one region to the other. Most locals build up immunity and defence against local diseases, the problems is when diseases are transfered to other areas that have the people have no immunity whatsoever. Many disease were unknown to Africa until the coming of the Europeans. Diseases like Polio, syphilis, corona virus, and other were non existent before the white man. In fact when the white man went to America, imported diseases wiped out a third of their population. All the plagues of the past emanated from Europe or Asia. |

DONFRANSKID:You guys have selective amnesia. When israeli soldiers kill Palestinian youth for protesting or throwing stones, you form amnesia, but when Palestinian militants (some call them terrorists) attack Israeli soldiers, you form outage and call for the extermination of all Palestinians. The war between Palestinians militants and Israeli military never ended they sign ceasefire to pause the war and resume again from time to time. Its like the same situation between North and South Korea and between China and Taiwan, they are only observing ceasefire. The war can resume anytime. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Thousands March For Gaza In Washington, DC (Video, Photos) by wirinet(m): 2:08pm On Jan 14 |
Realguyman1:Nigerian forces don't set out deliberately to kill innocent civilians. They don't enter a town harbouring terrorists and start bombing or shooting everyone in sight. The innocent civilians killed was definitely done in error or caught in the cross fire. The bone of contention is land and the rights of Palestinians to own and government their land. Without resolving the land issue between isreal and Palestine, there can never be peace, not in the next 1000 years. |

tctrills:Then what use is the Geneva Convention if women and children is fair game in war? Why is there something called war crimes or crimes against humanity? Article 3 of the 1949 Geneva Conventions prohibits "violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment, and torture" when perpetrated against persons "taking no active part in the hostilities." Please note, Israel ratified the 1949 Geneva Conventions. |

tctrills:Where did you see me or anyone else for that matter supporting Hamas attacks against Israel? I support no one. I only condemn Hamas attacks on innocent Israeli civilians, the same way I condemn Israeli indiscriminate bombing of innocent Palestinian civilians. Even I do not identify as a Christian, I identify with Jesus's pacifist philosophy of restraint and not the mosaic philosophy of an eye for an eye. Why? Because at the end of the day, it will render us all blind. You guys just have a misguided sense of loyalty to Israel because of religious sentiments. Many israelis including a former prime minister are against the indiscriminate bombing of Palestinian homes, schools and hospitals. Palestinians and Israelis are in a perpetual state of war, as a result, military targets on both sides is fair game. But either sides or both sides targeting civilians is inhuman and a crime against humanity. That's why I am impressed with South Africa for taking Israel to the international court to answer for genocide. Other are also free to take Hamas to the same court to answer for their own genocide against Israeli civilians. |

thisisit: Subsidy removal was/is inevitable. The issue was the manner and timing with which it was done by Tinubu. About the witch-hunting. At least we will have a few less witches. Its generally acknowledged that Witches are bad for the prosperity and development of a people. There are too many witches in Nigeria. If other presidents had hunted a few witches like Obasanjo, I am sure we would have much less witches today. So I encourage Tinubu to continue hunting witches. 2 Likes |

PrinceofSarcasm: Same sentiments here. I have been an ardent critic of Tinubu because of his shady past, but I am beginning to have a change of mind. I am impressed by the way he is tackling corruption. This is the first time since Obasanjo that an administration is tackling high ranking members of its own administration in issues of corruption without any political undertones. I supported buhari mainly because of his anti corruption image only to be disappointed at the end of the day. He ended up being worse than Jonathan. I will continue to watch Tinubu to see if he will maintain the tempo and actually prosecute high ranking politicians including those close to him and former governors who have lost immunity. Tinubu could end up being a blessing to Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |

Yungdragon:These are allegations that have been swirling around the media for over a decade. BBC is the best organisation to investigate and carry such a story, as many British nationals are affected. Local media houses and their journalists would have their safety jeopardised if they dare attack someone as rich and worshiped as TB Joshua. You can feel the anger of some of his fanatics here. 1 Like |

No matter the evidence, even if you show live video of TB Joshua raping a 12 year old girl, they will rush to his defense with their lives. We have seen this with Jim Jones, we have seen this with David Koresh, we have even seen this with our own reverend King, whose church is still going strong despite him being on death Row. 1 Like |

clefstone: Emman08: These allegations are not new. In fact these allegations have been in the media for close to 10 years. Paul Agomoh who was his number 2 man and started the ministry with him made these allegations when the fell out about 8 years ago. Bisola also came out to speak publicly about how she was raped and how T.B. Joshua raped three little sisters along with other girls in 2016 or thereabout, TB Joshua sheep came for her head then. So it's a surprise that his sheep are behaving as if they just heard these allegations. Sheep will always be sheep. 6 Likes |

Romance / Re: Broken Up With My Nigerian Boyfriend by wirinet(m): 4:57pm On Jan 08 |
Jackie999: Normally I don't comment on relationship issues, but I see you are a beautiful soul, but you are also confused and conflicted. Besides, I don't like the bashing and bad name Nigerian men are receiving. So I am writing this advice to stop you from making a grave mistake and to redeem the image of Nigerian men. Before I start let me give you a fundamental advice. You happiness should be your utmost concern and goal - not your family, not societal norms, not what others think. It your life, and only you will suffer the consequences of your decisions. Having gotten that of my chest, my candid advice is to Marry him (as an second wife) if certain conditions are met. Let me give my reasons. First of all Nigerian men are very hard working men. They can do almost anything to make it - both legally and illegally. Now most take the legal route, a few take the illegal way. The main reason Nigerian men japa is to make it. Opportunities for making it in Nigeria is very slim and so they need to japa to countries with better opportunities. Now, to find your foot in foreign lands, you need help, and the most sure and reliable help is a relationship. A love relationship with a fairly well to do lady will provide the stability and financial start up to quickly make it. This was where you came in. You help the guy start up and he is now in a very stable financial position. In a few years he will even be 10 times better off than he is today. To me it does not make sense for you to leave now after investing so much resources and emotions on him. Believe me if you stick with him, you will reap bountifully from him both financially, emotionally and family wise. Now let's get back to the polygamy concerns. Even though polygamy is undesirable and presents its own challenges, it's a fact of life. Over half of marriages experiences either direct polygamy or indirect one. The indirect one is the issue of side chicks/ mistresses and baby mamas. These indirect polygamy is as old as time itself. It's only hidden in western nations. One way the west hides polygamy is by making divorce relatively easy. In europe and the US a woman can divorce and remarry another person within a year. In Nigeria and in most African societies divorce is very difficult and tedious. The two families are involved, it involves ceremonies and the return of bride price. Even the courts frown at divorce. Divorced women and their families are stigmatised. Anyway my final advice is to sit down with the guy and give him conditions for you to agree to marry him. You marriage is in South Africa and the other one is in Nigeria - the two should never mix. I hope the Nigerian marriage is traditional only and yours should be court wedding. Court wedding supercedes traditional marriage in terms of rights. Properties and assets obtained in the course of your marriage in South Africa should be jointly owned and controlled. I had a neighbour that was in this exact situation. The husband japa to the US and married into a rich family without revealing to the US wife he was already married with 2 kids in Nigeria. When the US wife eventually got to know, she did not divorce him. She only laid the ground rules I listed above. Today they are stinking rich and everybody is happy. I know I am not making sense and many feminists will come for my head. |

joseph1832:But you will not make scapegoat of the Jos terrorists that murdered hundreds, not even a statement of efforts to catch them. You will not make scapegoats of kidnappers that have taken over our expressways and have now moved into the city. You will not make scapegoat of politicians stealing the country blind with reckless abandon. Its bloggers and editors that you want to waste limited money, resources and personnel to be making scapegoat. Even the FBI with 100 times the budget of EFCC and police do not have time to be running after small time 419 boys and romance scammers in the US, but here the police and EFCC waste all their time and energy running after small boys doing romance scams. 1 Like 1 Share |
