No one is saying recurrent expenditure is a bad thing, my argument is that the recurrent expenditure does not benefit the majority of the population, only a miniscule segment of the population - politicians, civil servants, and cronies, friends and families of those in government. The bulk of the police protect this class and not you and I. Report a threat or an attack on your home to the nearest police station and see if the police would come and rescue you. Go to the police state to report a case and see if you will not be asked to fund the investigation, or no action will be taken. Is this how police services work? Are we being policed? Same operates across all government services, education, health, water, power,etc. Its even worse in the North, people are dying because of N2000 Malaria drugs. People are drinking water you cannot have your bath in. As I reiterate, governance has broken down in Nigeria.

This type of revenue sharing is not peculiar to Nigeria, all countries of the world share revenue not solely based on contributions. In the US, states like California, New York, Florida and Texas contribute the bulk of Federal revenue, but states like Alaska, Wyoming, and Vermont contribute very little, but they still receive substantial allocations. In fact states like New Mexico and West Virginia are most dependent on federal money relative to their own revenue.

I am not making excuses for northern states, we have to improve our revenue profile as a country. I don't see much difference between the northern states and southern states in terms of revenue generation. The only exceptions are Lagos due to VAT, and the Niger Delta states due to petroleum resources. Even the East apart from Imo state contribute little revenue to the federation account, and receive more than they contribute to the federation account.

The north does not receive more federal allocation than the south. After adding crude oil derivation, VAT and regular allocations, Delta, Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states in the south receive more federal allocations thar all the northern states added together.
When if we add the lopsided number of Local governments, the South still receives more total allocations than the north. Remember the sharing formula is Federal 52.68%, States 26.72% and LGs at 20.60%.
The issue is not even about allocations, it's more a out the expenditure profiles of the 3 tiers of government which prioritize recurrent expenditure, which is the cost of running the government against cist of providing infrastructure, services and social amenities to the people. Very little of the allocations are actually spent to benefit the citizens.

The Anioma people have always been politically grouped with other tribes of the South South, like the Binis, Itsekiris, Urhobos, Ijaws, and even with the Yorubas in Western Nigeria, since colonial times. Breaking that political and brotherly love would be difficult. Lumping Anioma people with core igbos by force would cause a lot of suspicion and instability in the region. It's not possible for imported fuel to be cheaper than local fuel, its not economically sensible. Nigeria has the raw material - crude. Imported fuel will incure, loading cost from refinery to port, shipping cost including insurance from loading port Nigerian port, import duties and other taxes at the port, then ofloading costs to fuel depots. Dangote fuel does not incur this costs.

The reason imported ports seems cheaper is because of the low quality of imported fuels, importers first import regular fuels from refineries abroad, the shop it to other countries for blending, the blend the fuel to make it cheaper, and then import this poor quality fuel to Nigeria.

Well, the truth is that this elevation of Col Yusuf to the rank of a One-Star General is unfair to his course mates and is not in alignment with the new Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service (HTACOS 2024) which was recently endorsed by President Tinubu. And it is correct that Col Yusuf ought to proceed on his last senior course before being considered for promotion as Brig Gen, the ADC was either meant to attend NDC, Abuja, NIPSS in Jos or go for a foreign course. The practice is that the officers have accumulated scores which are usually put forward to the Army Promotion Council for consideration as a Brig Gen. However, Col Yusuf is a Regular Officer that graduated from NDA and was granted a Presidential Commission upon his graduation as a Second Lieutenant. This Presidential Commission granted to Regular Officers honestly gives the President the powers to grant waivers for promotion which is rarely done but cannot be contested if done. Remember Mr President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. His orders are perceived as right in this instance. Congratulations to the ADC who in the next 4 years will be qualified to gain promotion to the rank of Major General, as he is already 3 years ahead of his course mates.
