Kobojunkie:Without the receipt, you cannot process change of ownership document. |
Kobojunkie:How can you prove a vehicle was gifted to you, without receipt or other documentation? You would need documentation before the vehicle is allowed to change ownership, and have it registered in your name. |
Kobojunkie:What of transfer of ownership? If you gifted a car or even a TV to your girlfriend but the receipts and documents are still in your name, what happens if you want your items back? |
donvicky2007:Ordinary police sef don't take orders directly from governors in Nigeria, they have to pass through the police command structure. |
tunde1200:Military men don't take orders from governors. No be for Nigeria former governor dey order current governor? No be for Nigeria president dey suspend governors and state assembly, and install retired military man as sole administrator? Military men guarding private property is the least of the abnormalities that happens in Nigeria. |
adekolaelect:Wike did not come to inspect anything. He came to play “voltron, defender of the universe.” If you read the thread properly, you’d see that even an FCDA official apologized for dragging Wike into the conflict in the first place. Here’s what actually happened: 1. FCDA moved in with bulldozers to demolish an allegedly illegal structure belonging to a retired Air Vice Marshal. 2. Soldiers guarding the property blocked them, refusing the officials and their equipment access. 3. FCDA then called in their ‘superhero’ - Wike, who they believe commands his own troops and walks around with “odeshi”—would force his way through. 4. Wike stormed the site with his entourage and thugs, expecting the military to back down. 5. The commanding lieutenant refused to budge. 6. Borroring some common sense or simply due to fear he backed off. 7. On his way out, he resorted to personal insults before retreating. The core issue remains: the property is disputed. The Air Vice Marshal insists he bought it from the rightful allotee. Only a court can confirm or reject that claim. And that’s the point: FCDA has no authority to roam around with caterpillars, demolishing people’s properties without a court order. The rule of law doesn’t disappear just because the minister shows up with muscle. |
ALTERNATEID:The CNS claimed he bought it from the person that initially bought the Land - Santos Nigeria Limited. Even Wike did not dispute the CNS bought the Land. Wike's argument was that he revoked the sale of the land because the purpose for which Santos was allocated the land was changed, from park to residential without FCDA approval. He then claimed the CNS was scammed. The CNS did not just walk into the land with soldiers to claim it. The matter should have been taken to court by FCDA to recover the property legally. |
ALTERNATEID:I am a human right activist, and we handle possession cases every week. It is illegal in Nigeria to take possession of a disputed property without a valid court order, not to talk of bringing in bulldozers to completely destroy the property. |
ALTERNATEID:It is not the CNS that should go to court but Wike and FCTA, abi Wike dey fear court? Shebi him be lawyer? You want someone to go to court after his property (even if it is disputed) has been destroyed, the land allocated to another person and it has been redeveloped. |
ALTERNATEID:Yes, wike can legally revoke titles in FCT, but has to be done within the confines of the law. He cannot just wake up and revoke land acquired legally without without valid reasons. |
ALTERNATEID:Also add that protection of the life and properties of senior military officers by and armed soldiers is approved by the president |
ALTERNATEID:And you are missing the point that Wike had no business rushing to the site to physically confront the soldiers. This statement my Galadima is all shades of wrong - “We noticed the impending danger because armed men were strategically positioned, ready to shoot. And seeing this, I sent a distress call to the Honourable Minister." Wike is not the courts, nor is he the police. If someone contravenes the building laws, or a landed property is in dispute, the appropriate place to seek redress is the courts, and not to seek self help using thugs and powerful individuals. It would then become a clash of powers as we witnessed. Wike no be superman or spiderman, wey dey help other government officials seek justice or revenge outside the justice system. |
malali:Senator committed the crime in the UK, not in Nigeria. The crime senator Ekweremadu committed is not a crime in Nigeria and many other countries, including Turkey and India. The crime Ned was supposed to have committed is a crime in the UK, and not a crime in Nigeria. As long as the parents, family and community recognise the marriage, its legal according to our traditional laws. |
festacman:Tinubu only cares for 2027, nothing else. He believes its only politicians that can secure his victory in 2027, and not the voters, hence all his actions favour politicians. There are lots of ordinary Nigerians in UK jails and jails all over the world, Tinubu does not care. He is only sending high government delegation for a high level politician convicted of organ trafficking. |
ceejayluv:Ask them, did he marry her in the UK? Even in the UK, lots of immigrants from Muslim countries marry their daughters at less than 18 years of age. |
2mch:Which Trap? A blogger posted snippets of a voice note claiming to be Regina's father, saying Regina was 17, the Mother granted an interview to BBC claiming she was 19, everyone is free to choose who to believe. If it was true that it was indeed Regina Daniel's father that made the voice note, then he is a very irresponsible man. He claimed to be a lawyer. If he is a responsible man that love and cared for his children, why did he not take Ned and his ex wife to court for conducting an underage marriage on his daughter? Where was he all the while, when the ex-wife was raising their children alone? Regina and her siblings obviously had no paternal care or guidance. He was busy raising another family and abandoned his children. If it was in the US , he would be in jail for neglecting his children. |
2mch:You posted a bloggers opinion as proof of Regina Daniel's age at the time of marriage. What evidence did the blogger present for you to believe her. Here is Regina Daniel's biological mother telling the whole world her daughter's age. - https://www.facebook.com/share/r/15rmPQMMCd/ Now, who are we to believe - a blogger or her mother that gave birth to her? |
HgAkpobomeEr:He was just talking without saying anything. He is just like other religious elites, complicity with the government to exploit the people. Not for once has reverend Kuka condemned the killings of his Catholic Church congregation going on in the North. |
malali:Arrested for what? Did he commit any crime in the UK? Or did Nigeria say he committed a crime in Nigeria, and labelled a fugitive? A lot of you guys are just parroting Western (European) law and customs, and applying it to others without looking at their unique socio-cultural background. Even in the US, people marry multiple wives or under 18 girls. One even documented his "bigamy" in a series called sister wives. Nigeria operates multiple laws, there is tradition laws, religious laws and English law. And the Nigerian constitution recognises all three laws, with only a caveat that the English law is superior. Then there are different laws between the north and south. The south use the criminal code, while the north use the Penal code. Sometimes these two laws are at variance with each other. Now back to this case. First Ned is Muslim. He married under both Muslim law and traditional law. Muslim and traditional law permits polygamy and underage marriage. Please note that the Nigerian constitution recognises both Muslim law and traditional law. So it would be interesting for someone to sue a man and the families engaging in underage marriage ceremony. As much as I detest Senator Ned for marrying an underage girl, I blame Regina's mother and her family more. They openly came out to deny Regina was 17 at the time people raised concerns. They claimed Regina was 19 in unison, and they participated in the marriage ceremony, along with their whole community. So how can you then blame Ned for marrying an underage girl? Na him born am? |
shortgun:Many Southeasterners have Oil Mining licences, and some have licences to build refineries since the days of OBJ, why are they not building refineries? |
shortgun:Old news, or rather outdated victim card. Who or what stops Southeasterners from building refineries in the Southeast, or make the environment conducive for Dangote or other wealthy Nigerians to build refineries in the south east? |
badaru911:N1700 for a family of 4 ke? Poverty meal or not, how much is the gas or kerosene to cook the meal? |
We4all:Mean cheat because the can, and that been the way it had been since the dawn of history. Mean have multiple wives, concubines or girlfriends if they have the money, power or drive to maintain them. It's in modern times that it's called cheating, before it was tradition. |
LagosOrigin:So Lagos State has become a monarchy, where son inherit governorship from his father? Otherwise, what qualifies Seyi Tinubu to be governor of Lagos State? |
Deepthoughts:Your argument is very weak. Chairman and King are obviously not Igbo words, but they have their direct translations in Igbo. Chairman and King do not have the same meaning. The same way office and Palace have different meaning. King and Palace elicit different emotional appeal to chairman and office. If the so called Igbo leaders refer to themselves as chairman of igbos in Lagos or chairman of igbos in Ghana, I am sure no one will raise an eyebrow. But to refer yourself to King and purport to live in a Palace on someone else's land is seen as an insult to your host. There cannot be two Kings and palaces in a kingdom. Jesus was tried and executed by the Jewish political elites in conjuction with the Romans being referred to as "King of the Jews" or "Eze-Ndijews" |
Deepthoughts:As the saying goes if everyone you meet is mad, then it's time to start questioning your own sanity. Lagos indigenes says an Eze on their land is unacceptable, you say Lagosians hate igbos. Ondo indigenes says they don't want eze indigbo on their territory, you say they are jealous of you guys. Even in far away Ghana, Ghanaians are incensed that someone is referring to himself as king of igbos on their land, they protested and call for expulsion of all Nigerians from their country. You are shouting ignorance. So everyone either hates igbos, jealous of igbos or are simply ignorant. Igbos are not the only people that form strong socio cultural bonds amongst themselves in diaspora. The Israelis have a history spanning well over 4000 years in foreign lands, where they still maintained their strong cultural bonds. Never did they form king or build palaces complete with thrones in other people's lands the Lebanese, Indians, and Chinese have strong enclaves in foreign lands. Non tries to title themselves kings. Nigeria boasts of over 250 different ethnic groups, each with their kinship and traditional institutions, but non attempts to export it to other peoples lands. But the igbos are so stubborn, that they insist on offending the sensibilities of their hosts in foreign lands. It is even so ridiculous that they are now comparing themselves with the Fulanis, an ethnic group they hate so much. |
Deepthoughts:Maybe your mother, wife or girlfriend is Igbo. Have you seen sarkin building a Palace in another man's land? Have you seen any Sarkin in Ghana, Canada, Saudi Arabia or Malaysia? Does the word Sarkin translate to King in Hausa? |
DomPerignon:Very annoying. The know where to try this their nonsense. They should go and try building palaces in Kano, Saudi Arabia or even England, and call themselves king. |
MICHEALADEX:It's you talking nonsense comparing microchip to refinery. Are you insinuating refining petroleum is as technologically challenging as refining sand to produce microchips. How many countries in the world are able to make microchips? People make ridiculous excuses to support nonsense. |
TimeManager:If the president has foresight as you believe, he would not be encouraging the building of more export terminals, he would be encouraging the building of more local refineries instead. Then would be building terminals or pipelines to supply these local refineries. What's the foresight in building export terminals to export Nigerian crude abroad, while local refineries like Dangote import crude from Brasil, USA, Venezuela, etc. |
DomPerignon:Ohaneze seems to be enjoying the influence and power. Afterall, all these are done in its name and authority. Ohaneze claims to be a socio-cultural group, but the meaning of Ohaneze Ndigbo means a gathering of Kings. How can you have a gathering of Kings without actual kings? So it seems So Ohaneze is attempting to usurp or challenge the powers and influence of traditional rulers back home. South East traditional council have actually banned the use of the title Eze Ndigbo (king of igbos) outside igboland, but Ohaneze Ndigbo just ignored them. They are at the same time attempting to build colonies outside igboland, but controlled by the parent body of Ohaneze Ndigbo. |
DomPerignon:I am an architect by training, and also a contractor. From experience, I know this is not how projects are executed. No project requires continuously “going back to the drawing board.” You cannot keep returning to the design stage every time you receive an epiphany or new inspiration. Yes, it is normal to make variations to a project design—usually to address unforeseen challenges on site or to implement slight modifications to the original plan. But you don’t fundamentally change the design at every phase of the project. That is not how professional project execution works. What makes this particular project even more troubling is its extreme secrecy. We are not even allowed to see the original design before these so-called variations are introduced. As my friend Deepsight put it, this is a project without any real foundation: no disclosed design, no budget, no Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), no community participation, no Request for Proposals (RFP), no tenders, no progress reports, no legislative oversight—nothing. Everything is shrouded in secrecy. All we ever hear are official statements from the Minister of Works and other government representatives, but no transparent process, documentation, or accountability accompanies them. |
