AgricultureRe: Help!, How Do I Start Home Vegetable Garden? by wisdomline: 12:25pm On May 21, 2020
HeyHey:
Good day house,
I want to start a home vegetable garden, in pots/containers (custard buckets) because my compound doesnt have space and is cemented. I dont know which vegetables will survive in pots.

Please kindly suggest vegetables I can plant (,and how i can plant them and any extra effort I need to help them grow eg fertilizers or manure/compost)

My location is Osun state (so you can factor in the weather/environment).

Thank you.

PS: I am interested in Tomato, Pepper, Mint leave (Efirin), Okro, Ugu, Lemon-grass
Hello,

You could plant Ugu and, indeed, any vegetables in buckets and sacks and they will do well (particularly for subsistence purposes)
Personally, I like being organic, so I will advise you go for manure and good loamy soil.

In the case of using plastic containers such as plastics, ensure they are aerated - this could be done by perforating the containers.

If you are using sacks, perforation may not be necessary, except the sack is laminated, in which case, you then have to perforate.

For the weather, I reside in Ilorin, which is just about 2 hrs to Osogbo (Osun). They have similar weather, but Osun weather is finer and so your vegs should do well.

I hope this piece satisfies your enquiry.

Christianity EtcRe: Is 3 O'Clock The Most Effective Hour To Pray?? by wisdomline: 11:42am On Apr 15, 2020
ikorodureporta:
How true is this assertion that prayers @3 o' clock are more effective??

The Catholics call it "Divine Mercy" prayers

People say 3AM is the Devil's time, since Christ died in sacrifice at 3PM on that Good Friday, ( Matthew 27 Vs 45: "From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land" ) , and the Devil likes to twist everything God makes, he would choose the opposite time to make his misdeeds. So, some people would wake up at that time to pray, believing that it's more necessary, while others always add that it's the period where there was a Divine interaction between man & God, an ease of passage of Man from physical into supernatural, (In Chris's death), therefore God is usually more accessible at that hour.

Have you ever experienced any of such "effectiveness" in prayers @ this hour??

I have a friend who testified to that...
There is no best time to pray. What is important is sincerity, genuineness and communion with God through the Holy Spirit. God answers prayers anytime, anywhere, if the preceding is fulfilled and such prayers are within the will of God.

whizqueen:
My friend sent me this thread last night but I had too much to say so here we go.

I (A Nigerian girl living in Canada) will be responding to the OP's points and some other comments I found on the thread.

Are Nigerian Ladies in Canada lonely? Ofcourse we are! Are Nigerian girls in NIGERIA lonely? Hell yeah!!! Are Nigerian girls in other countries lonely? Absolutely!!!!! Being lonely is not a factor of location or person. It's about not finding the right friends/partner you vibe with.

Why did we immigrate? Bros are you kidding me? Canadian govt is paying me $2000 monthly and other benefits for losing income due to covid-19 Is that happening in Naija right now? All the money donated by philanthropist in Nigeria would soon disappear into the thin air without our govt giving explanation of any sort. Ofcourse, it's not bed of roses abroad neither were we expecting a man wrapped in a gift bag but please don't let your sentiments cloud your reasoning as to why people make immigration decisions abeg.

I personally feel attacked cry grin I recently posted a video on my YouTube Channel about finding love & online dating in Canada. It's asif this hope saw my video and wanted to attack me

What makes you think we would be interested in you to begin with? Don't pride yourself too much plis dear

If you like let the OP influence your decision and stop you from chasing your immigration dreams, last last it's up to you to decide what you want for your future.

Whilst I would agree with growing together with your partner and building with them. I think it's just shallow minded of anyone in this age and time to ask for women to chase marriage first before career. Marriage is not the ultimate not everyone sees marriage as an achievement. These days, if you crave for sex so much, you can pay someone to do it or get yourself a Love Machine, if you want a child, you can literally just buy a sperm and save yourself lots of stress. Most of us are yet to keep an open mind to these things, however if you want something badly there;s always a way to get it.

Most Nigerian men hate to see it happen, there are laws that protect women here and they would prefer dying single than to see women as their equals. A good number of them are control freaks and would rather their woman be at their beck and call for everything as opposed to having their marriage work as a partnership. Nigerian married man knowing the laws of the land will still go ahead and cheat on his wife with a girl living in the same condo with his wife. Una no even dey fear or respect una madam. If atall you really want to cheat, you cannot travel to Nigeria and secretly mess with girls that fancy IJGB crew or allen avenue. As expected, some women do exploit the situation but if you find yourself a god-fearing person and you do the right thing, no divorce laws or child custody issue would stop y'all from flourishing.

White men dont find us attractive? Laughs is Swahili
On the contrary most men of other races have FETISH for Nigerian girls and Black girls in general. Maybe not long term in all cases tho but they reaaaaaaally fancy us and admire our enthusiasm towards life. Whilst most Nigerian girls would likely not wanna go for the likes of 'Ryan', 'Billy' and co it's not cos we don't find them attractive. Firstly, Naija guys are smart, intelligent and goal oriented. You see the average ones already have plans for their future and working towards it unlike the counterparts who are comfortable with just a high school degree. If a Naija guy is even into technical jobs he would try to be the best at it and work towards starting his own company in the near future. Secondly, coping with someone with a different culture, lifestyle, food, etc is honestly stressful. I was talking with one Persian guy and he said before we can kiss or hold hands, we have to be temporarily married. undecided The other chinese guy is only about 5ft tall, I'm just wondering what he would look like in that department shocked

In Nigeria, when you visit a guy at home, some would expect you to know that's express ticket to get laid with them. But here if you visit a guy at home, you can be almost certain that if you guys have sex it's cos you wanted it, no guy will try to lure or manipulate you to straff them or tell you when you came to my house what were you thinking. They know it's important to ask for your opinion or even avoid the whole situation altogether.

Something the OP failed to address is that the Loneliness spans across both men and women living in Diaspora. Even the white people find it hard getting a partner for themselves much less an immigrant that would probably take some time to fully settle in. The system is built to have everyone mind their business, that togetherness or family-spirit is missing.

All the naija guys and ladies in Toronto have finish dating themselves. It's such a small city, everyone knows eachother thru another person only a matter of time before you find out that; the guy toasting you is ex with your colleagues' friend. Or the guy you matched with on the dating app went on a date with your housemate the day before. Some would be married and they would be on the dating apps lying to other women.

Some of us don't even mind going back home to bring men here, but 'em guys just they find paper. Only few genuinely love and care for you. I kuku know people here already do that as business tho, some ladies/guys now charge up to $30,000 to marry people from home to help them get residency here.

There are tons of Nigerians in Canada groups on WhatsApp and Telegram some are just for singles and you find people of age 35, 40, etc filled with both women and MEN. Some guys eventually resort to going back home to marry the less exposed girls, but guess what happens once they reach YYZ airport? Oh well your guess is as good as mine. Their eyes go open finish.

A good number of Naija guys are single and desperately finding love as well as ladies. Truth is, we all crave for love. And that's not a bad thing to want. Finding a good match or significant other is a honestly a game of chance. Home and Abroad, White or Black race finding a partner is truly difficult and if you got lucky finding that one special person, you better love and cherish them truly.

I rest my case; I am in the comment section waiting for someone to jump on my mention and before you do so just remember: Opinions are like as5holes and everyone is entitled to one. So this is my opinion, I have free time today grin

The guy is real and cool. I'm lucky I reside in Ilorin, so it was easy to connect with him. I got a very good deal for POL local hens I bought - a total of 10. I must commend your efforts, really, I was very very impressed.
Our ideas and zeal are quite similar. Three of the hens are laying already. My intention is to raise local cockerels that will reach 3 or more kg in 5-6 months. It is an experiment I'm sure will be positive.

I'm thinking I might have to post pictures in no distant future. Thanks.

WONDERING WHY LOCAL CHICKENS RIGHT?, so I started my farm ( I call it a practical farm) cause I decided to try out strictly things other people have condemned or shy’d out from. I bought 40 local chickens in total, I couldn’t find somewhere to buy all 40 at once and I wanted chickens with very good chickens with good genes.

searched for someone who rears local chickens strictly and I met a old woman, she sold me 20 twice, I got a noiler cock and a white Cockrel cock.

On disregarded the fact that they were very resistant to diseases and I administered antibiotics for a few days, I feed them guinea corn and normal corn morning and evening, well to cut the long story short, I have 190 chickens after 8 months, I’ve sold some chickens cause I didn’t wanna keep cocks.

I later added a local cock to the flock cause some Hausa men visit my farm often and need strictly cocks for chicken babq, the numbers of my guinea fowls and ducks has also increased thanks to the hens incubating their eggs.

If you are thinking of venturing into this, I advice you not to buy chickens from different places to get a large number, get all your chickens from the same place, that way, you can be 100 percent sure of their health and fertility, Most of the hens sold in the market were brought cause they either don’t lay, or have bad mothering attitude,

Advantages in choosing local chickens for farming

* They are self-sustaining i.e. can raise their own replacement stock.
* They are hardy birds that can survive hard conditions.
* Management requirements are not critical as those of commercial exotic breeds.
* They are immune to some diseases and parasites.

My farm is in ilorn, if you need to buy local chickens to re-breed or local cocks to eat ( you can’t compare the boilers and Cockrel’s tastes to theirs),

RomanceRe: He Rough Handled Me On My First Visit To His House!!! HELP by wisdomline: 1:48pm On Mar 06, 2020
Mimiey:
Hello Nairalanders.

He rough handled me on my first visit to his house, claims to want a serious relationship. Can he really be serious about being serious or he is just a play boy?

So I met this guy about two weeks ago close to my street. He calls but I hardly pick. Eventually, I picked and he asked if he could pick me after work and we hangout. I accepted. He picked me up after work last week Friday. He was quite interesting and funny, he talked freely like he had known me for years but he was really so touchy, I had barely spent 5 minutes in the car and he was already touching my shoulder and even when we were inside the bar, he tried tickling me, at a point, he put his hands close to my waist, I removed it. We both discussed if we had someone we are currently seeing, I am not seeing anyone which is the truth, he said there is an Ex but they just have sex and she has her own relationship. When he was dropping me off, he asked for a close hug, I hugged him and he wanted to pull me closer and kiss. I broke free and got down. He said I am not nice.

Well, we met again on Monday, I took just water intentionally. This time I minded the distance between us. He wanted to see again on Tuesday, I declined. Then at work yesterday, he asked to see after closing. I told him he can come briefly to my work and we can talk a bit in the car and part ways. He said he would like to host me at his house instead, I declined.

Anyway, he came, I got in and he started driving and saying, I will know his house today and besides his phone battery his low. My mood changed immediately and he tried to guilt trip me and said okay should we stop on the road and get a place to charge his phone. I then told him to continue driving to his house. He stopped on the way and got snacks. We got into his house. It was nice and neat.

Then we were watching a movie, he sat down and placed my leg on his, I was cool with this. Then he made moves to kiss and I declined and pulled away. All of a sudden, he started breathing fast, hugged me so tight and kissed me despite I kept pulling away and didn't kiss back. I am weak when it comes to my Bosom, then he got there and gave me the roughest and painful squeezing I have ever experienced. I haven't been with any man in about 7 months now, I am single and It's hard for me to do a little thing as even kissing randomly. So he got me there when he got to my bosom but it took only just few seconds to snap out. He continued panting and begging for me to reciprocate, he is so hard and hasn't felt this way in a while.

I told him I don't want this, he went in frustrated, stamping his feet, I tot he had agreed, only for him to come back naked and saying okay, he has heard no sex and "I don't want to force you", so he asked for a dry hump and wanted me to turn my back. I didn't. He still kept breathing hard, like he wont survive the next minute. Then he started begging for a Mouth Action. I declined and told him I wasn't up for that. I tried pulling, away and getting angry. He became even more aggressive, removed the hands I used to protect my chest and forced his way into my bra. It was a struggle and then back to begging till I made it clear in a thunder voice for him to stop and take me home.

Then he agreed, wore his cloths and kept complaining that I don't know what I have caused and he wont be himself. We left his house and he tried stopping at a Pharmacist and said he needs to get ibuprofen, then he didn't stop again and just continued driving.

This morning, he is apologizing and repeating the things he said when we got to his house that he wants something serious with me and he wants us to start something and want it to work out. He asked to come see me at work today but I declined. With this red flags, is there a possibility that he is truly serious like he said? Or he is just doing the usual lies to get the cookie and go away. He has a nice ride and nice house, I suspect he may have girls around him. My concern isn't all these, I just want to be with a serious man who is in for commitment and not just sex.

He rough handled me on my first visit to his house, can he be sincere about wanting to be serious?
You want to listen to me: He is not; all he wants is sex

Does going to church makes one a christian ?

Being a christian shouldn't mean our daily presence in church or whatsoever !

What does being a christian mean to you ?
Good question. This is a good question that many church-goers do not understand.
Going to church and attending Christian programmes such as special prayers sessions, deliverance services, etc have become the norm today.
However, the true essence of Christianity is quickly becoming extinct.

Being a Christian means accepting Christ Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour. Believing in your heart He was sent to reconcile man with God and that He is The Way, The Truth and The Life; Nobody goes to the Father, except though Him. Then, living a conscious, holy life through the help of, and communion with, the Holy Spirit.
InvestmentRe: Should I Sell A Property And Go Into Business? by wisdomline: 9:31am On Nov 14, 2019
LeoThaGreat:
Selling a real estate isn't the same as selling a mobile phone. You'll need legit papers in place.
Once you have that, go ahead and sell just 1 property, because that will be more than enough to maintain the welfare of the true owners of the properties - your aunt's kids; you'll also have enough funds to set something up to bring regular cash into your account, or probably get a new job.

The adopted child is also a legitimate beneficiary of those properties, and if you misappropriate them, she will spend her entire life haunting you for bad.
Help her get admission in a relatively affordable private university in Nigeria. She will meet other rich kids that can change her life for better, and you'll also benefit if you don't mess up.

If you can maintain those properties well, you will have no reason to lack.

Make sure you document every kobo because you are accountable to those kids, and they might need you to detail how you managed their mom's properties later in life.

Hope my contribution has been helpful
This is a perfect response. I just want to add to that, depending on your passion, investing the proceeds of disposed property in a business or businesses that will yield good returns.

FamilyRe: My Husband Always Tells Me To Leave His House During Quarrel by wisdomline: 4:47pm On Oct 14, 2019
Zhuhilat:
How Do I Deal With This Level Of Disrespect From My Husband

Dear all

I and my husband are just 2years in marriage.

Every time we have issues concerning anything, he is always telling me to pack my things and leave his house or he will say things like you are off no importance to me and you bring me no value and stuff and stuff. But after a while he will apologize and say he doesn’t mean it.

Last month, what caused our fight was because my mum sent some food stuffs to us because she traveled and got them cheaply. He was angry because he felt that was disrespectful. And the argument degenerated to him telling me to leave his house,

i got tired, called his bluff and left the house but everyone advised me to go back and make it work., well except my dad. Mind you, this was the 5th time.

On my return, we talked about it(like we always do) and i thought it was genuine, and i said i was going to give it one more try.

Today, we had an argument because of baby food. I told hime to buy on his way back. I couldn’t go out because the whole road was terribly flooded .

But he didn't buy it, and that lead to an argument. And the next thing he told me was to fuc.k off and leave. Or he is leaving. As a matter of fact, he just left the house now 12:00am.

I am actually tired of it all. and right now, i don't think i have any love left for him or this marriage.
I think he is cheating on me and for some reason i am beginning to look outside and crave attention, love and respect from someone else.

I don't want my child to grow up seeing me treated like this but most importantly , i don't want her to think it is okay to accept being disrespected and under valued like this.

Married people is this one of the challenges in marriage or what?

Why cant we have an argument that doesn’t lead to leave my house, i dont need you, you bring me no value and all

Also we are very very comfortable, i work and he works too.

Emotionally, i am done.
Dear Zhuhilat,

I am sure you must have got a lot of advice from and off this platform. The most challenging of all is that you are probably more confused - not even sure what to do. Please, take note that I have more that 10 years in marriage.

However, my advice is:
1. Inform someone he respects and revered, perhaps his parents, an uncle or an aunt or even a religious personality.

2. Try make it work. And by this I mean, you should learn to not be confrontational the next time he does anything annoying. Allow time to pass and tension simmer before you calmly let him reason with your perspective on issues, but you should respect his opinions too. BUT YOU MUST STOP FURTHER ATTEMPTS TO EXPLAIN AS SOON AS YOU NOTICE HIS MOOD IS CHANGING OR VOICE GATHERING STORM.

3. Ultimately, pray about it, and seek more counselling.
