Appointments under Tinubu are a matter of political considerations and hardly about competence. If the defence minister was that competent, why did Tinubu sack him as CDS only to go scrambling for him when the US gave him matching orders to balance his security architecture by including a Christian, as part of the ways of dousing the Christian genocide narrative? Tinubu has the largest cabinet ever in the history of this country with over 40 ministers. Today, 3 years on from 2023, Obi has virtually no SW Obidients in his camp and negligible numbers from the NC and non-SE region.

This is because Nigerians, over three years since 2023, have seen how he lies, flip-flops, procrastinates, hypocritically and bigotedly attacks a pin dropping on the ground outside the SE yet remains silent over atrocities recorded in his region , etc, etc.

At political Party level. They have noted how he failed to unite and take charge of Labour Party, through crisis resolution and authoritative leadership, to the extent the likes of Kenneth Okonkwo left him and publicly declared him unfit to lead Nigeria.

You go from ADC to NDC in a matter of weeks because you cannot enter a primary contest against Atiku same as he fled PDP in 2022 against the same Atiku.

Obi is finished in the eyes of any Nigerian who thinks critically and wants progress for our nation. He will remain popular with his people as we know how they vote but he will be shocked by the scale of rejection he will register outside the next year.

You’ve said all that needs to be said. Hate or love Tinubu, you have to give him his props for having the balls to give the Nigerian economy the painful but necessary medicine it needs. The problem with this country is that too many leaders and citizens have passed the buck for years, leaving problems for future generations to confront, in other words embracing short term thinking. I can’t blame them too much because this is the only life we have, and having years of it truncated due to the effects of bad governance must be debilitating, but something has to change and the road to lasting change is rarely painless. I.e fuel subsidy removal, floating of Naira to kill currency arbitrage plus make Naira a more convertible and intrinsically valuable currency, rebuild the power sector around the concept of full deregulation and Nigerians paying cost-reflective tariffs that can fund the real cost of power generation, transmission and distribution to then boost industrialisation , manufacturing, SME proliferation, etc, etc, etc.


Yet once Presidents come on board and are given these sets of solutions they will fail to implement them because:

(1) the sheer volume of money available to them to control, in a slack system with no strict accountability checks and balance system, is too tempting and intoxicating.

Many Presidents then begin a regime of monumental corruption and sleaze , to the detriment of Nigeria where the likes of Emefiele can be building Estates with over 700 housing units and Malami , erstwhile a glorified charge and bail lawyer, can become a multi-billionaire overnight.


(2) The other issue is how Presidents always have eyes on second term In a Country that has fallen behind badly and needs unavoidably fundamental reforms to become a developed developed.

Yet all, till now, cannot implement those reforms because President are afraid to introduce them as the reforms required decades to have required effects and cannot come without pain and sacrifice.

Meaning an ignorant and unsophisticated electorate will frown on any leader willing to introduce those reforms even as such is ultimately best for them and the future of their generations unborn.

The result? Presidents after Presidents endure with damaging policies (fuel, power, Naira, education subsidies etal) that should be repealed because they are eyeing a second term in office.

Whereas Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore, in charge for 30 years, transformed the country from a basket case and near worthless dead zone to a developed nation with the strongest passport in the world and a nation constantly voted one of the best to live in to the extent Britons, Singapore's former colonial masters, are migrating to the nation for better lives.

Yew achieved this because he had time. 30 years in power with many of those years involving Singaporeans having to suffer and sacrifice considerably to get where they are today.

3 plus years of Tinubu and required reforms he has delivered, that informed folks know are correct and must be entertained to gain designed results, some are complaining and opting for the populist garbage of Atiku and Obi that got us nowhere over decades now.

It is instructive, even as many Nigerian cannot see it, the main stumbling block facing us. I.e the ability for a leader to be able to plan long term. Crucial but Nigerian Presidents don't have that luxury and they compromise , even though they know doing such is bad, yet they believe that will help them to remain in office. Tinubu has not followed that path.

See bolded below to note Tinubu is the truth because he is the only President, since 1999, brave enough to implement reforms, literally from day one, that will ultimately lead to the development of Nigeria even as doing such threatens his second term in office.

Whereas other Presidents, even as they knew what they must do, could never do the needful because they love money, power and privileges of office more than they value the development of Nigerians and Nigeria.

May God help our nation or assist her split peacefully as I don't see a way out as things are with Nigerians not willing to bear with crucially required reforms and regions wanting different things.
