They were amateurs compared to the hardened serial criminals we have now

They were sensationalised by the press because they help in selling their papers and they were used also to embarrass the military govt of IBB.
Yeah those criminals were crude then but policing was crude then also.

Meaning murderous criminals had more success and longevity than they should. Can you imagine Oyenusi escaped prison 3 times or so? A total joke.

We also have to align criminals in the past and today per scientific advancement.

Today's criminals have far better weapons, vehicles, intel gathering capacity etc.

I personally think Oyenusi, Anini, Osunbor, Shina Rambo, Gadogado etal were naturally more hard-wired than these opportunist criminals today.

If it was today, and they were from the North, they would have "politically repented them", rehabilitate them, and reintegrate them maybe into the intelligence unit/military.

Nigeria had real gangsters. Similar to the very worst that terrorised the world like Al Capone and Pablo Escobar.

Many created folklore about Anini but Osunbor was the real monster who enjoyed executing people. Oyenusi was executed laughing. A demon. History is interesting.

Inspect the bolded in you post. Is Kanu "you don't know law" repentant?

Have Igbos ever pleaded for forgiveness for him rather than be blackmailing Nigerians he is innocent and a Saint?

"Repentant" bandits and terrorists, even if insincere, go and prostrate and renounce their wrongdoing. That is how they access amnesty scheme that is a non-kinetic strategy for fighting terrorism.

When has Kanu and his people ever showed readiness to accept they are wrong and ready to renounce their criminal ways?

Rotate? Yoruba people specifically sabatogued Jonathan, giving the north 2 turns in what was supposed to be the south's turn, then returned to take the turn for themselves with a muslim muslim ticket (destroying the rotation pattern and setting a bad precident that favors the north) and a known boko haram appologist as the vice president. Even in you're explaination, you're highlighting the issue.
I can't believe the reasoning of some of you. Jonathan's Presidency was turn of the South how?

Did Jonathan not become President only because a Northern President, who should use 8 years on behalf of the South, passed away through ill health?

Lol. I have never read a sensible post from you. Not a single one. SW envy and hate SE how? Please, who is obsessed with who? How many Yorubas in your SE and how many of you lot in the SW?

The facts and statistics are what shows who is obsessed with and envious/hateful of the other. Yorubas generally don't gravitate towards you guys at all.

As an example, I have never set foot anywhere in the SE and don't plan to. You lot aren't even in my conscious thoughts and it's the same for most Yorubas.
PoliticsRe: I Have Personally Left That Religion Of War. Koko Zaria by WizardOfNG:

That's good for you. Religion don't do we Yoruba s any good.
Indeed. Religion must be relegated to private and personal worship. What should be shaping public and socio-economic life of SW States should be a dedication to using STEM (science, technology, Engineering and mathematics) create solutions for society.

Xi Jinping, leader of China, is openly atheist. China is flying today because they built their capacity to use STEM to create solutions for Chinese society instead of building Churches, Shrines and Mosques everywhere as Nigeria is obsessed with.

Our nation is one of the most religious in the world, arguable even the most religious, yet look at how troubled Nigeria is?

Black folks, especially of the African variety, are just simply too emotional and shallow. If Nigeria is to make serious progress, we must start working consciously to reduce and de-emphasise the influence of religion while promoting the capacity of Nigerians to gain skills and knowledge that will allow them create solutions for themselves and society..

Peter Obi is not intelligent at.
Indeed. Nigeria actually over-indulged Kanu. He has been offending for a long time and even broke several clear and explicit conditions of his bail under Buhari before fleeing Nigeria.

Did we not witness the likes of Ikonso and many other stone cold killers pledging allegiance to working for Kanu and killing on his behalf? All the ESN and UGM atrocities, who was behind it? Me?

Too much evidence of Kanu being a terrorist and death dealer and Obi's talk simply shows he is an irresponsible bigot.

Obi is horrendous to be honest. Along with the Mullahs up North, and their madness, I wish Nigeria split quickly at least along regional lines so sane regions (SW, SS and NC) can go and build progressive societies quickly.

How respect for the rule of law does not matter to Obi is proof he is not a fit leader. Proper leaders do not begin seeking dubious interpretation of criminal action simply because their own is involved.

They respect the fundamental fact the law must take it's course always and against everyone. Be that even their own child.

PoliticsRe: Yoruba Government Will Be The End Of Fulani Madness In Nigeria. by WizardOfNG(op): 4:29am On Jun 13
Ofodirinwa:
Yorubas endulge and empower Fulanis. You have chosen to believe Yoruba people fought Buhari when Yoruba people very literally made him president despite him openly saying he is here for Fulani people and their interest first and foremost. Even Yoruba people who gained nothing personally made photoshop manifestos for him and posted it online. Then you campaigned against everyone who said Fulanis were clearly trying to commit genocide throughout Nigeria.

What do you actually believe your governors did to Buhari? lol
There are Fulani emirs in Yoruba land, so I'm assuming the idea of fulani perpetual rule is not an uncomfortable concept in the SW. Has Ameotokun addressed them?

The two best eras for Fulani violence in Nigeria have been under Obasanjo and Tinubu. Even GEJ pushed back
Your post simply shows you don't understand my point. Of course Yorubas, with Tinubu as arrowhead of that effort, worked to help Buhari become President.

Power has to rotate between North and South. Any sensible adult will know that the effort of Yorubas to help Buhari become President is simply an arrangement. I.e "one good turn deserves another".

Help the North to become President and they reciprocate to help the Yorubas. It is a simple concept any adult should understand and I don't know why so many of you have such an emotional and unpragmatic approach to life.

Like tinubu once said to Jonathan, the bull stops at the president's table. No amount of conspiracy can prevent a president. We saw how GEJ acted. How he brought SA mercenaries in.
Come on. That is a political statement. You're a sharp dude na. Politicians must always gaslight their opponents they wish to replace.

Demonize your political opponents in the eyes of the electorate and profit. That is how politics works and all politicians, everywhere in the world, engage in it.

With your talk of Jonathan hiring mercenaries, deployed expensively, it can never work to permanently overcome terrorism driven by ideological indoctrination.

Many ordinary Northerners go into forest to supply food, medicine and even sex to terrorists and bandits. Their support system, across the North, is huge.

Do you guys think this is a joke? We are fighting a belief system and ideology that cannot defeated be by the current Nigerian security system.

The solution is very simple. Usher in State/regional police asap.

As soon as serious States and region significantly upscale their capacity to tackle crime, the North will realise terror is no longer a tool they can use to blackmail other regions.

Meaning they must tackle the marauders they created so they too can enjoy the peace, security and socio-economic progress others are enjoying.

Without doing the right thing North and South will separate for sure 💯%.
PoliticsRe: I Have Personally Left That Religion Of War. Koko Zaria by WizardOfNG:
CodeTemplar:
The terror industry in the north goes far beyond powerplay.

There is the spiritual power angle to it. In the days of very active campus cult, it was disguised as armed robbery as people were rendered dead or useless as part of sacrifices for politicians to return or get offices.

There is also the religious dominance angle to it in the north specifically. They are naturally seeking to impose islam and killi-ng is a core part of their strategy.

There is a powerplay angle to it also. I sponsor violence in a constituency and then present myself as the solution so the people can vote for me and not the other guy in power

There is the tribal angle. The nomads are taking over whole villages at a time while doing the bidding of politician who need sacrifices to remain in power. Dont tell me that as a politician no agent of darkness has approached you for such service. I saw a BBC documentary about such practice in Liberia. It is real. Politicians dont only contract small cliques of killers, they have whole squads working for them also. Nigerian politicians go as far aa Freetown for such services.

There is the brainwashing angle to it. Many not-so-elite folks have been brainwashed to believe their religion is being advanced.

There is the conquest angle to it. I once ŕead about how a Fulani leaders boasted that his people can eliminate the conquered tribes of the north because only the benevolence of their forefathers who achieved the conquest and spared the fathers of the victims allowed them to be born in the first place. Imagine that.

The issue is complex.
Great post and you have said most things naive Nigerians are ignorant of but need to understand. Your conclusion that the "issue is complex" is apt.

Anyone thinking one man, i.e a President , can end insecurity that so many Northerners are ideoligically in bed with, at all levels, is delusional.

I really developed hatred for the North when, virtually all Northerners, endorsed the killing of Deborah.

Heart-wrenching what happened to that girl because I have daughters and can imagine the pain of her parent knowing how their daughter suffered stoned and burnt.

Yet most Northerners saw it as fitting punishment for her "blasphemy". It was shocking and a definitive event that showed me the union of North and South is unnatural and will end as all things unnatural do.

I personally think things will come to a head soonish in the end and the world will even come in to intervene so South and North separate. It is the South that is valuable to the World anyway.

Similar to how Sudan's main region that had become too irreconcilably incompatible separated. I just hope it can be achieved without much shedding of the blood of innocent Nigerians.

Below is the shame of a nation that, if full of bravely principled people, would have sparked a revolution against the North and their backwards ways.

Read below how 34 lawyers defended the suspects who are brutal killers. We are too unserious in Nigeria and as Reno Omokri said, Nigerians are only concerned about Rice and Eba.

To do something in the name of another person, means you acted on the instructions of your principal and may be jointly or separately liable.
On the other hand, ethnicity, country, religion, and even family names are groups you belong to, but none of them would be responsible for your offence.

How many of Kanu's bail conditions did he violate? Why is your hero Sowore so lawless supporting Kanu and demanding he simply be set free?

PoliticsRe: Sowore Collapses As Protesters Clash With Security Personnel In Abuja by WizardOfNG: 5:18pm On Jun 12
Amalekki:
You captured it so perfectly.

I believe in democracy and I support Bola Tinubu but will never ever disparage Omoyele Sowore. I have always maintained that Sowore is always on the side of the people.

He supported the return to democracy with Obasanjo elected but turned against the government when he saw no serious restructuring.
He fought for Goodluck Jonathan when most people chose to remain silent when Turai Yaradua and the cabal took over Aso Rock, but turned against him when Abuja became the free money bonanza capital of the world with no care in the world about future consequences.
He supported the change movement of APC to get PDP out of power after 16 years of false starts despite the great oil boom that ended up with Nigeria borrowing money just to pay federal workers.
He turned against APC the moment it became clear that APC is just a different name for PDP.

Sowore is consistently on the side of the people. Anyone that thinks otherwise should show us his own record since 1990 or at any point in time. Sadly, Nigerians true to their nature will only appreciate him fully when he is gone! Reality of life.
Sowore is not on the side of the people. He is a fraud and I can say it to his face. He is conning gullible Nigerians. My background is same as his.

He has lived a long time in the US. I've lived a long time, most of my life since early teens, in the UK. Both are nations where things work fairly well and people naturally think more critically than Africans.

Sowore is in Nigeria and dragging Nigerian police, fighting them in the streets for optics while filming it to deliberately victimise our police officers.

I am in Nigeria also. Yet Police are my friend because (1) I ensure all documents for all my cars are valid and (2) I treat them with dignity and (3) I always campaign everywhere for our policemen to be paid and remunerated better because I know how British police officers are compensated for what is a dangerous job they may not return home from.

Because I am sincere, and living in the West has instilled discipline and sincerity in me, I have never had a problem with any Nigerian police officer in Nigeria.

I know their plight, understand how our Country threats them like stray dogs on the street yet treat legislators, most of them worthless, like royalty. Looking at the Government living quarters our police men dwell in not fit for even an animal yet Reps and Senators all have Asokoro and Maitama mansions with so much allowance for expenses.

Is Sowore dumb or not exposed enough to realise this? Yet he will be dragging and seeking to disgrace Nigerian policemen

Ask yourself why Sowore comes to Nigeria to gaslight and fight policemen, to even film the episodes, when he should empathize with them and be their main advocate for better pay and treatment if he is sincere.

Ask any psychologist about this simple example I have just illustrated about Sowore and they will tell you he is a conman.

No sincere leader takes advantage of others who are themselves victims of gross injustice and mistreatment i.e Nigerian police officers. The natural instinct of a sincere leader should be to improve their lot.

Sowore is not sincere. I know this 💯% because our background is similar but I do things very differently to him in Nigeria per the fact I always mean well, not an attention seeker and have no hidden agenda.

Precisely. Dude is a shameless drama King. Amusing also how today's Nigerian political leaders and wannabes always have mouth.

Yet arrest or confront them physically and they all suddenly have health problems, need urgent medical attention, are near death, fainting etc.

Political leaders of today are a disgrace in comparison to the likes of Awolowo, Mandela, Kwame Nkrumah etal. Look at the length of time the likes of Mandela, Awolowo, Buhari, OBJ etal spent in jail stoically.

OBJ spent 3 years in Jail. Awolowo too, 3 years in Jail. Buhari, over 3 years in Jail. Nelson Mandela, extraordinary man, 27 years in Jail.

Yet today's over-pampered politicians begin crying, having palpitations or fainting the minute they land in a cell. All they know is noise. Slightest physical discomfort, they are crying like babies.

The Senate still has to pass the bill, and at least 24 of the 36 State Houses of Assembly must also approve it.

After that, states will need to demonstrate that they meet the requirements for implementation.

Then comes the real test: states must establish, operate, learn from inevitable challenges, and improve their systems.

Only after all these steps can we truly say that State Police is fully operational in Nigeria.

Jagaban is the truth. I respect the rule of law and the constitution of Nigeria and I know PBAT has to leave in 2031.

Still, I wish Nigeria was like China and Singapore where Xi Jinping and Lee Kuan Yew have had decades to get China and Singapore to the the enviable position they are in today.

That will never be possible in Nigeria because of how adversarial and irreconcilably different, with highly contrasting interest and ways of life, the major ethnic groups are.
