The man got a PhD in Islamic studies. He was born into an islamic theological royal family, just like most africans, he is merely reinforcing what he grew up to know. There is nothing out of the box here.. No new addition to knowledge. And for someone in public service, Islamic studies is not what a third world country like Nigeria needs to develop. 87 Likes 4 Shares |

Politics / Re: Tinubu Didn’t Address Our Demands – Youths Storm Lagos Streets, Continue Protest by wonder233: 12:34pm On Aug 05 |
Bro, you could have made your own comment without editing mine. But to address the point you said I got wrong. The armed state sponsored thugs substantially prevented the ibos from voting. I acknowledge the fearless nature of the ibo, but there is little you can do against state backed ethnic militias. It is a sad fact. Your analysis of the economic angle is correct too... So added to that is what is playing out nicely for the ibo

|
Politics / Re: Tinubu Didn’t Address Our Demands – Youths Storm Lagos Streets, Continue Protest by wonder233: 8:46am On Aug 05 |
There will be no real protest in Lagos. This is for the following main reasons: 1. The Ibos are not protesting, they are a substantial part of the population and they are usually the ones without filter who express themselves openly and lead protests. 2. The yorubas on the other hand are divided into two: the educated and uneducated. The educated ones are also roughly divided into two, those who support the president and those who do not. Those who do not, need the ibos to spearhead the protest for them to follow. While for the uneducated, they wholly support the govt. So in total, three-quarters of yorubas in lagos support the govt. 3. There is a very vast and well mobilized army of ethnic militia thugs on fierce standby ready to unleash mayhem on the largest non yoruba ethnic group in lagos i.e the Ibos under the guise of "protecting lagos". So, this is an added deterrent for anyone. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Bravo. I'm confident with the discipline you've shown, you will overcome the brothel one in no time. So, like they say, to stop and addiction, you've got to replace it with something else, something harmless. I'll suggest you try dating - i know thats difficult in this environment where sex is almost strictly commercial. But that shouldn't deter you, try mixing with girls who are not of that mentality, they are few, but they are there. Go on tinder and keep swiping, you will be amazed, among the seeming majority of hookers over there, a substantial decent minority are also on the site, looking for love, adventure or just companionship 3 Likes 1 Share |

Like somebody asked, if it is jazz, they would probably have cleaned out the vaults of all the banks. There is nothing like jazz, it is simply sleight of hand tricks, where the felon diverts or distracts your attention to not do due diligence in either thoroughly inspecting the cash or not knowing when they pick out money from your bag. But the average Nigerian wants to believe fables. 3 Likes |

Tribal, religious and party loyalty will not allow Nigerians protest. The yorubas will quickly say it is the ibos, the northerners will say it is the southerners, the muslims will say it is the Christians.... We cannot collectively agree things are hard. Many are rationalizing it to support their persuasions. The lazy, hateful dregs of society can't wait to pounce on the struggling middle class whom they perceive as the "rich". Meanwhile they worship the politicians who are looting them blind. Messed up people with a messed up mindset. 16 Likes |

You're trying to deflect and downplay the severity and hiding under the observation excuse. You're doing this either for monetary, tribal, religious or party reasons. Go to hell and burn to ashes. I always say this: Nigerians abhor critical reasoning. They are drawn to simple minded beliefs. The irony is that the same people pride themselves on being big on academic studies, but somehow conveniently ensures their academic pursuits have no impact on their thought processes. It is frustrating interacting with Nigerians cos of their close mindedness 1 Like 1 Share |

Why will a DC be the one making the presentations to a house committee? He is too low in rank na. OP said " he led a team of senior officers..." He cannot , when there is a DCG there with him, a whooping 3 rank above him! they probably pushed him forward as a fall guy. I'm surprised the house committee allowed him to present. I guess like many civilians here, they probably don't know, he is not senior enough to appear before them. A DC is like a Lieutenant Colonel, just a rank above Major.. what happened to the Generals? This country is a joke 44 Likes 4 Shares |

Nigerians and their worship of celebrities, politicians and public figures. One goat up there is already saying "this is heartbreaking", a grown adult cannot guarantee a roof over her own head in the name of royalty. I don't care what inheritance tussles are ongoing, as an adult, you should have what you're doing that guarantees food and shelter for you. 1 Like |
TV/Movies / Re: My Experience Using A Smart TV by wonder233: 10:04pm On Jun 23 |
So, at the heart of the matter is cost... and utilization: So, with Dstv, you subscribe monthly, at say, 12,500 or 15,700 for compact, but you hardly stay at home to watch, besides, they have old movies, but sole rights to some key programs like football, reality shows, etc. On the other hand, with smart TV, you have to subscribe to the apps - Netflix, showmax, prime, etc, say 6,000, then get unlimited monthly data for about 25,000., which, like. Dstv, requires monthly subscription irrespective of usage... For me, I think, its still cost effective to stick with Dstv, in addition to data subscription on your phone (which is inevitable). This, you can use.for Netflix and co on your mobile when you can. 8 Likes |
Travel / Re: Nigerian Man Sells Roasted Corn In London (Video) by wonder233: 4:09pm On Jun 20 |
Corn is life... It is why I take my annual leave during the corn season to go to Benin City, where there is fresh cooked corn for you to enjoy daily. In Lagos, you can't get same-day fresh cooked corn, its only stale 3days old chaff, they will cook and dip in salt water, Yikes! disgusting, tasteless crap. You're going to work very early in the morning, you see corn already cooked. Like wtf! In Benin, in the early morning, the traders go to the farms, harvest, come back, then cook. You can't see cooked corn, until around midday upwards.. There's this white seed corn, so tasty, so fresh. The traders cook it without peeling off the outer coverings to lock in the freshness... 22 Likes 5 Shares |

Family / Re: 5 Reasons Some Wives Cheat On Their Husbands by wonder233: 4:19pm On Jun 18 |
Let me expand the net and add the following reason : Conquest: A loyal, dotting, loving man is a conquered man. The woman feels no spark as you've become predictable. In no time she will become "bored" of you and start getting irritated with every little thing. Then, convince herself that you're the one making her unhappy, then in walks that new male colleague of hers, she then starts a needless friendship and be forming he is a confidant, without you knowing what's going on. Then, she will eventually sleep with him. If you don't ever get to find out, the marriage just continues like nothing happened. But if you coincidentally get to find out, she will cry down the heavens begging you and vowing with her father's grave to be the most faithful wife to you going forward etc etc... If you're a wise, man, you will end the marriage. The begging will then turn to frustration and anger cos she thought you were a soft conquered man and after quarrelling and even insulting you for not being man enough to handle a woman and all other jabs at your ego, you will still stand your ground, she will turn nasty, then later back to begging... But you're resolute. Then after she eventually leaves, you take your time, meet someone new and start a new relationship. This time, you habe learnt. Some people, especially ladies will try to coax you into making the same mistake by saying you are now bitter, that all women are not the same... But they are and you're not making a mistake, You are simply paying attention to the psychology of relationships. In this new relationship, you ensure you are not conquered, by maintaining a healthy balance at all times. For instance, nothing wrong in your wife seeing other women desire you, as against you behaving like a pope. Nothing wrong in being a little traditional as against you behaving like a simp in the name of being a modern man, etc etc. 8 Likes 3 Shares |
Politics / Re: What Will APC Tell Nigerians In 2027 by wonder233: 8:28am On Jun 18 |
They don't need to tell Nigerians anything. They have never needed to tell Nigerians anything. Nigerians vote strictly based on 4 things: 1. Tribe 2. Religion 3. Party i.e Political affiliations 4. Bandwagon i.e popularity emanating from any of these other 3. So, nothing will change in 2027 and beyond. It is a vicious cycle. |
Romance / Re: Why Is It That Successful Women In Nigeria Hardly Japa? by wonder233: 7:15am On Jun 18 |
Reading through comments, I think alot of people are mixing things up: the topic isn't about migration as a whole, the topic is specific as to why successful women are less likely to give up their success here and migrate than successful men are doing. Someone said the statistics is not true, maybe that person should provide the true statistic. But in the meantime, OP, myself and alot of other commenter can relate, and statistics is about population sampling. Back to the topic: for me, I think, men, especially in this part of the world have long been manipulated with a mixture of flattery and shaming to always sacrifice themselves for their women. This is being packaged as a sacrifice for the "family" i.e the kids. This has driven many men to early graves. Leaving those women to enjoy everything. The kids were just decoys... The fatherly death rate is highest especially in the parts of the country where they fiercely promote men as bread winners and women as stay at home wives. It is still this same flattery and shaming that is making successful men take that plunge of giving up their success here to go abroad. 4 Likes |
