Bro, you are just wasting your time telling the igbos to re -strategize , it won't work work, they will continue to play politics of emotions and confusion ( they want biafra, they want Pdp, they want atiku, they want restructuring, they want to be deputy governor in Lagos and a series of other confusions akin to the igbos)

They should stop that "We are marginalized " slogans everybody now sees it as blackmail.

How can you be made commisoners in a south western state, employed in the civil service of Ogun, Oyo, Ondo etc, appointed as permanent secretaries in Ogun State, do business and earn a living in other regions and also dominate the federal civil service (imo) and then you are still shouting marginalization. Is that not blackmail?

Igbos will continue to be like this jawe
Unfortunately you spoke the bitter truth

Goodman with his thinking cap on! Meanwhile, what is the latest on the ijaw masters teaching their ojukwus ,slaves, lessons to respect the host communities? I saw it on channels tv 10pm news i laughed as some deluded ojukwus claimed that such thing did not happen. They said it was imagination of afonjas. We yorubas should borrow a leaf from ijaws in dealing with ojukwu ingrates who flock to our land for their better tomorrow. They call us cowards because we are naturally receptive. They say they are brave but we saw how the ijaws dealt with them and they were blaming us because they could not face their ijaw masters. Their failed Biafra can not survive without ijaws, hence the need for forced attachment. I hate the ojukwus!
Lol. Not here sire cheesy hence this thread will be derailed.

Your point is sound.
But what is necessary to understood is that PDP has failed to take up the force of opposition and also, there are events you need to consider before you understand the current happenings in Nigeria politics with regards to Igbo common man because there is difference between Igbo common man and Igbo politicians.
When Buhari lost 2011 election, his supporters went on rampage killing people they deemed responsible but GEJ wasted no time but instead brought the northern people into the fold including those that gave him less than 5percent votes. That's what Nigeria presidency demands.
But after GEJ lost 2015 election, the SW APC led touts began the mind game of telling Igbos that they put their eggs in one basket in a quite a manner of conqueror and vanquished thing. APC was supposed to provide National leadership but it turned out to be politics of those that won and those that lost which led to Buhari's appointments and his 5%/97% thing and arrest of Kanu and killing of Biafrans. You don't push anyone and tell the person where to fall.
Politics should not be about winning election but mostly about provision of leadership.
But I must say the Igbo politicians are building bridges. But we the masses don't care about building any bridges. In 2019, we will crush APC in East and bury it.
You have a point though especially on the 5% statement made which I am against but if you are playing politics of crushing to justify victory will only delay your chances to embrace full power grip.

Sentiments and emotional weakness in politics make you take rash decision that will hunt you back again.

Strategic decision in politics is important so you can be a heavyweight but if this is what you guys have resulted to, am afraid you are not ready to be a political force which people will reckon with.

This is not the worst time for Igbos, it is actually the best time for Igbo piliticians but it takes some dynamic thinking to realize this. Say what you want about Tinubu but he understood this early and he played the game well, "you cannot go and play in the big leagues if you do not have big players who turn up and show up".

What does that mean? Look at the present crop of Political leaders in the SW and immediate environs (from the 6 states to Kogi and Edo) and you can actually pick enough people called "Tinubu boys" who have political clout and weight. These are peoole who have been tested and have the strenght and dynamism. Even those who are deemed estranged like Fayemi and Fasola. And guess what, they also show up meaning they hold down their own house and can turn up political numbers anyday. Do a number of Tinubu Boys in Lagos alone and be shocked, from Hamzat to Leke Pitan. Not trying to praise Tinubu but this type of alliance is needed. I have not seen one single politician in the SE that commands such respect accross the board in the SE. How can you position yourself for National politics if you have not conqured regional politics?

How can you hold your own when you can't show up to a party meeting with atleast 15 boys who are willing to work for you from all the states? Almost every SE politician is just popular in each of his/her state. This is the problem governors who perform like Obaino and talkers (even though he does too much) like Peter Obi has. They need people to fight for them and hold down other states for them.

You call it godfatherism, I say it is alliances. Imagine if Okorocha can boast of having a huge support base from not just Imo but also Ebonyi, Abia, Rivers and Enugu. That is 5 states. He is already in a good position for any political negotiation and he is more likely to get what he asks for if he wants to form an alliance with anyone.

Saraki did not become this influential by locking himself in Kwara did he? No, he played his politics in his region. Same as El Rufai. You guys have no idea the politics that happened on the morning of the primaries between Fashola, El Rufai and Tinubu. That could have cost President Buhari the ticket if not for alliances.

This is also the problem Akpabio has, his support basically stops in Akwa Ibom (which the governor is doing his best to uproot) outside the state, none. Atleast Amaechi even though he is as dramatic as a woman(no disrespect to women) but he is bringing his boys out and giving them posts who will in turn spread his own political clout. This is not national politics, this is regional oooo.

People wonder why the Tinubu group can be so confident about Lagos? Cos they have done the work of 100 years. They have almost every traditional leader, every market leader, every motor park, and almost every structure on the informal side and the formal side, they allow the social media boys do the dirt fight. If you dont know, you cant beat the Tinubu boys on twitter and Facebook. They are too crazy to fight.

This is time for SE politicians to forge intra-regional alliances. Have one or two politicians in the SE and parts of the SS who can boast of atleast 30% of voters in each state in terms of senators, HoRs, state assemblies etc and then launch for the National scale.

Oh, this victim thingy and expecting things to fall into your arms has to stop. Pick yourself up and stop claiming marginalization; everybody in Nigeria has been marginalized but not everyone choose to wear it on their sleeves. Stop attacking other tribes because you feel they have it better or they made better calculations, if you lose, take that L with your chest, go home and work on it, come back to another fight smoking and looking new (political fights are not every 4 years, they are every re-run election, every party ward primary, every local government poll) put your players in position that will help spread your influence so when they call your name in one place, the response is heard from 7 places. That is political influence.

And politicians have to stop looking like tribal bigots (even if you are, you are a politician, polish yourself). See how commissioners in Lagos, went to be senators, ministers and governors. Dont restrict your planning to one tribe. Ambode did a lot of the financing of Edo politics on Tinubu's behalf now, they have a governor they can plan with. Governors in the SE have to capture grounds outside their state, make none indigenes commissioners and advisers and send them to be senators and what have you in their states.
Remarkable comment. Every words in this comment is a punch line and there is no better way one can put it on table, explaining to SE people politics is about strategy not emotion.

You lose some fights doesn't mean total failure. Just like the case of Chelsea (New defending champion) who lost to Manchester United few weeks back but the story became different yesterday.

SE needs to re strategies instead of pointing fingers at people who fail to buy the ticket of someone whose ideology is seriously flawed.

Brilliant write -up. Permission to always reference this when the time comes boss putting you in copy.

No matter how disappointed you are in life, using such moniker doesn't justify anything nor move God.

I don't know if you are an atheist, Christian, muslim, etc but I can assure that if you are truly remorseful and surrender your life to Jesus Christ, God will prove himself in your life.

It isn't right to use this kind of moniker.

Tonye, I concur with your write up. As much as you have condemned the irate Ijaw Youths, I expect you to also condemn Tochukwu and his fellow Igbo ritualist.

As an Ada Igbo myself, I am really troubled with the way Igbo youth are getting involved in Ogwu Ego. This has nothing to do with tribalism. We Igbos should tell ourselves the bitter truth.

There's a seeming lackadaisical attitude towards revenue collection drive in SE states. This mostly due to capitalistic cum republican orientation. The various govts just don't seem interested in collecting taxes and dues. Not even the transport unions,as one can see in places like Lagos. It's as if there is a permanent tax cut regime across the region.
There is need for them to do better.People can and will pay,so far as there's assurance the revenue generated will be judiciously utilized.
You are right because an average igbo man will not pay his tax again if the subsequent one he paid is not beneficial to him.

Lol, abi na, na wetin oga Fayose tlk be dat. Fayose is busy blaming buhari for his state's woes whereas ogun state had an astronomical increase in IGR same year.

Between i see Ogun State claiming the number two spot in no time soon, if amosun can complete the road projects scattered all over the state, lots of FDI in Ogun state now that means PAYE will increase. And amosun really needs to invest more in agriculture ,most of our farm settlements are in a bad state except for the one at ikenne .
To be honest though, Ogun state is too big for him to handle due to the limited resources available to executive all the lay down projects to catch up with lagos state booming development encroaching borders of Ogun.

Speaking of Agriculture, Yes he really needs to step up. Most of the agricultural settlements need urgent intervention. If not for private firms investing in the sector, it would have been poorer.

I just hope he completes the road infrastructures under construction especially agbara - Ota, Akute - Alagbole, Agbado, Ogijo- sagamu, (Sagamu- Papalanto, Ibese- Ilaro in VIEW), Lafenwa- Adatan-Osiele road axis. More business influx will be experienced.

Let's use the Ibeju lekki industrial zone as example, the road network encouraged investors to troop in en mass to that region.

I think Akwa Ibom experienced a great leap. It was 14bn for 2015 and leaped to 23bn in 2016.
For the SE, I think it has more to do with attitudinal disposition towards taxes than it has to do with economics.
One thing to note though which is actually a good thing, IGR is not proportional to oil revenue or federal allocation. It's actually a function of the willingness and capacity of a state to actually generate resources for itself.
Oh that's true. Thanks for correcting me sire.

Your definition of IGR is on point

There are routers to take care of that. Not all websites will be accessible on the free WiFi and surely device bandwidth will be capped. Torrents and downloads won't be possible.
Instead, users of these free WiFi should be careful what they use it for as it will be an open Hotspot where all usage activities can be seen by the admin.
It's a good move by the LASG.

5 South South states are in the top 11.
1. Lagos
2. Rivers
3. Ogun
4. Delta
5. Kano
6. Akwa Ibom
7. Edo
8. Oyo
9. Kwara
10. Kaduna
11. Cross River

The SE is is doing terribly in IGR. Ogun state witnessed an impressive increase. Same as Kano.
Overall IGR generated, the state with the highest percentage increase is ogun, then lagos state against the previous year though on a slight margin. Kudos also to states like Akwa Ibom and Kano who experienced tremendous growth

Delta state is regressing though their performance is still encouraging.

Seriously OYO state needs to be proactive. That governor is clueless.

What the problem of SE is in terms of IGR, I don't know. Well expecting Anambra report sha.
