mmsen: There may be petty differences but the fact is that all groups in the south would be happy if the north tried to secede.
What does the south benefit from this mess?
There are regular problems between northerners and the south west - from monarchs being kidnapped; to the vice president being disrespected; to the northern cabals who stand in the way of progressive policies. To be fair, we still benefit from them in Agricultural sector. We depend on them for cattle, food crops(tomatoes, beans, etc). Aside this, I can't really see other benefits. However having a southern Nigeria would be great but am afraid the unity has almost gone beyond redemption. The bolded explains the archaic view of the northerners(especially NW region) and am afraid if the SE choose to vote them having one of their kinsman as VP slot, these power drunken people will repeat same thing if there is a compromise. |

mmsen: If northerners are so concerned with southerners in positions of responsibility when then don't they go their own way and create their Arewa Islamic Republic and leave the rest of us alone.
I can guarantee you that if the northerners said that they wanted to leave today there would be people from Lagos to Calabar protesting in favor of their secession.
People would declare self declare a national holiday.
Millions of goats and cows would be slaughtered in villages all over southern Nigeria. Brother, don't view my opinion from tribalism aspect but the southern unity is not or almost impossible to achieve especially with respect to the latest bile between these two heavyweights(Igbo and Yoruba tribes) Ofcourse Igbo are still angered that yoruba betrayed them severally (especially during the last presidential election) hence crying more than the bereaved (SS region) as they are not ready to mingle with treacherous people according to them. Politics is very difficult to analysed in Nigeria especially now that there is so much religious and tribal differences. |

Politics › Re: Osinbajo Will Not Be Allowed To Replace Buhari In 2019 - Northern Elders Forum by wristbangle: 7:06am On May 18, 2017 |
Daboomb: In a scenario where Buhari cannot continue in 2019 and Osinbajo is on the ticket for APC, let us look at what may happen;
1.) Lets assume the North feel they cant have their way, what can they do? They can refuse to vote for APC (Osinbajo).
2.) The South will Vote for APC.
3.) Now, the East, out of hatred, may not want to vote for a Yoruba (Osinbajo/APC).
4.) Ofcourse, PDP will not present an Igbo President, so it is safe to say they will present another Northerner.
5.) That Northerner in PDP, will get the North's Vote.
6.) The East/Igbos (unlike what Yorubas/West did in 2011, when they supported/voted Jonathan,an Eastern Candidate, based on "rationality and best interest", against this same Buhari) will rather vote a Northerner in PDP, ....meaning PDP can produce the next President but it will still be a Northerner.
But another crucial decider will be who each party, makes its VeePee.:
a.) If APC with Osinbajo, makes a Northerner its V.P, it may dilute the Northern vote a bit but knowing the North, they ar elike Sheep and treasure being the President more than anything, so they will stil vote the PDP, for a Northern President.
a1.) But if the APC/Osinbajo makes an Easterner its V.P, it may dilute the Eastern Vote for the PDP/Northerner President. How much this can sway the election will now depend on who the East trusts more, to achieve their own personal interest. From what l know, the Northerner will NEVER allow an Igbo to be President, they still have the events of 1965 on their mind and have vowed that an Easterner must NEVER rule this country.
b.) If PDP/Northerner President, makes an Igbo its V.P. This will certainly add-up to the Northerner votes and may likely produce a winning ticket. But it will still boils down to whether the Igbos will chose "their long term interest" or will take side with their "hatred for the West/Yorubas".
Long term interest of the Igbos can only be achieved with Yorubas on their side (reason Biafra has never been realisable is simply because Igbos have not had the sense to overcome their hatred for Yorubas.
Igbos/East FEAR the "The Northerners" but HATE the Yorubas. Yorubas/West DISTRUST both the East and the North but still finds the North manageable, as long as it is not about "Political Power". Northerners/Hausa/Fulani DETEST/LOATH the Igbos?East but holds the West/Yorubas in contempt, even though they still find them reasonable.
Thus, it is very obvious that Easterners hold the key in 2019 (if they dont "sell" their "influence' as is always the case!). It will boil down to them deciding whether to vote for based on "Hatred" or to Vote based on "rationality and self preservation".
The above are my own permutations, l may be wrong though. Your permutation is on course. |

"Edited"
If the North forcefully decide to put a running mate in presidential position against the VP, am afraid the ticket will not sell.
Their coerce strategies for the VP to resign will end up hunting them but this is when he (the VP) should remain resolute and allow justice play it's course.
Indeed the cabals are crawling out from their caves knowing their master does not have the wilt to continue.
Note: I don't expect less from some people saying it's master-slave fight but they don't know this is pure politics at play as one or two of their people will b involved no matter what. |

Charity begins at home. If you ask me go to Job/Vacancies section in this forum to see how some evil elements are scamming graduates due to the high unemployment rate.
It's far fetched and runs so deep in the system that market women ex tort customers by inflating price of commodities, policemen have become laughing stock in public by forcefully taking bribe from commuters, politicians are having a field day in corruption malpractice by diverting funds to their pockets, corporate entities illegally taxing people/hoarding forex for personal gain, etc which has led to criminal activities on national and international level such as drug trafficking, Internet scam, prostitution and others.
A yoruba adage says that "Gbogbo wa lo le ti ilu ba da" which means Everybody is thief when there is no law against such act.
Having mentioned this, we have patriotic Nigerians making the nation proud but the whites are good at pointing derogatory side of the country hence exaggerate it to completely ruin the already damaged reputation. |

Amberon: This guy is not lying at all. While I lived in eastern Europe, I got to understand these things more. I met some guys who were internet scammers. All their Nigerian friends who lived there (and i mean all with the exception of none) were internet scammers too. Eventually one got arrested (he's probably still in jail now) and several others fled the country for fear of being arrested too. One ran to Ghana after he was caught withdrawing money from western union with fake documents. He was under strict investigation and fled the country using a fake passport (which is another crime). Apparently he would create fake bank websites that are identical to the original websites. Imputing your credit card details in those websites would result in him getting all your information and subsequently he would "wire" out every penny you have. I also got to know that they did a lot of online shopping with stolen cards.
We shouldn't play the"racism card". The op is 100% correct. This op isn't exaggerating at all. Nigerians have also destroyed the reputation of Malaysia. A cyber cafe was busted in Lagos for habiting fraudsters and the locals all came out to support the fraudsters.
We don't need to lie to ourselves, the op isn't saying that EVERY Nigerian is bad, he is simply saying that an overwhelming majority of us are bad and that is the gospel truth if we mean to be truthful to ourselves. Look around and you'll find that several of your colleagues steal office property when the opportunity arises. Well said bro |

Politics › Re: Why APC Can't Win In Anambra State by wristbangle: 7:55am On May 17, 2017 |
Nkem4040: I'll cut off my peniis if APC wins in Anambra. APC can try to penetrate SE without effort in Imo, possibly Ebonyi with little effort, maybe successful with Enugu though difficult, but will never ever penetrate Anambra and Abia. These two are the defenders of the great Igbo race...they are always on stand-by to spill their blood for Igboland. If you take out Anambra and Abia, I can say with specificity and certainty, you have conquered Igboland. If you read any popular Igbo movements whether it's the civil war or the Nnamdi Kanu ascension, one thing is common, these movements were spearheaded by Anambra and Abia states. In Ezeife words “The respect and dignity of our people will collapse if Anambra goes to APC.”
The thing with Enugu is they are very loyal to their leaders with track record. For example if Chime should contest for any election again or endorse someone under APC, Enugu people would likely support that person. But that will never happen in Anambra. Even if Obiano turns Anambra into Dubai, it will never happen. Ngige was loved by Anambra people but when he contested under APC, Anambra people made it clear to him...we love you but with APC, it will never happen. Be careful for what you wish for even though it's almost impossible for APC to win in Anambra but things can change. |
