ritababe: they want our oil, a pipe from Nigeria to Morocco. It's more than just oil though it's still one of the reason. There are lot of benefits that proceed from nations that belong to ECOWAS. If they want oil, they can get it from Libya which will be cost effective albeit constructing the midstream sector from Nigeria to their country |

I have learnt a lot from the economists in this thread. Thanks for the insightful and diplomatic arguments. I just pray that the positive impact on the foreign exchange hence less pressure on the naira is sustainable (continuum process). Though some credit should be given to PYO for his diplomatic/peaceful dialogue with oil producing states communities as militants attack on oil facilities has reduced drastically albeit contributing oil production increase. With the crude price above $50 per barrel against the bench mark of $37 for our budget leaving minimum of $13, such difference is being reflected today as foreign reserve is getting fat, naira gaining value and more forex available for manufacturers, traders to import raw materials, machinery, etc, to meet their production needs. Also, we also need to know that non oil sectors are improving though at a snail speed and if these trends continues, I believe before 2020, Naira may exchange at N150 per dollars, resulting to reduction in inflation rate with employment rate higher, improve power generation and other positive trends, I just pray corruption will not ruin this trend. |

iblawi: You might need to wait till 2019 before naira return to 200 or below. We have to stop importation of refined oil and petrochemicals which takes up 30% of our forex and improve electricity so that local companies can increase production /services. We need to also cut food important which also takes about 15% of our forex (rice, wheat, sugar, Palm oil, and fish top the list).
When we achieve all this, $1 might even be less than N100. iblawi: No, they won't fail because we would start getting more forex from sale of refined oil, petrochemicals, gas and fertilizer. Dangote refinery will produce 55 million liters of fuel per day which is more than enough for the whole West Africa and government is also trying to increase capacity of the old refineries in the country. Which means Nigeria would refine half of the crude oil we sell currently before selling them.
Dangote is also running gas pipeline under the ocean from portharcourt to Lagos which can generate up to 12,000MW of electricity compare to the existing one which can only generate 4000MW. The current transmission line is being upgraded by Fashola from 5000MW to 8000MW before the end of the year and 10,000 MW by 2019.This means power is also on the way for local companies.
Standard gauge railway are also coming to reduce cost of transporting goods from one region to another. I doubt this would be completed before 2019. This will help the agricultural sector and manufacturing sector as well.
Different petrochemicals that were imported will no longer be imported by companies and will reduce pressure on forex.
Fertilizer will no longer be imported which will cut down the demand for dollar.
On agriculture, rice production has increased to 4.5 million metric tonnes while our local demand is about 6.5 - 7 million metric tonnes. Wheat is also on the pipeline as some northern states have started wheat farming. I don't think much have being done on fish, milk, Palm oil, sugar and poultry.
Solid mineral is another area but very little have been done in that sector too.
Putting everything together shows Nigeria might bounce back better than before if the current government do the right thing. Brilliant and Analytical comment. Nice one boss |

Though Glo network was epileptic at the beginning of the year as they did not even deem it fit to show any remorse by apologising to customers but their Internet service is back and far better than it used to be.
Truth be told, MTN has good customer service delivery but their network of recent is quite poor. |
Travel › Re: Abeokuta Ranked Fourth Worst City To Live In Africa by wristbangle: 11:15pm On Feb 23, 2017 |
The analysis for rating Abeokuta as 4th worst city to live in Africa is very flawed.
Anyway this would rather send a message to the state governor if he cares or worried about this derogatory news to buckle up as places such as Adedotun, mokola, Elega, Saje, Adatan, Lafenwa, itoko, olumo axis are seriously dilapidated with terrible road network.
I still maintained that the 10 lane construction dual carriage road from kuto to sagamu interchange is unnecessary as such fund can be used to expand the road along FUNAAB axis and rehabilitation from Adatan to lafenwa axis. |
