Business › Re: CBN New Forex Policy Fails To Excite Foreign Investors by wristbangle: 11:50am On Mar 06, 2017
Nigeria is indeed a broken country. Who tells these so-called experts that it is only foreign investors that can save Nigeria. While good investors could assist the economy of a country but I am afraid that the type of foreign investors looking to come into Nigeria will be very unhelpful to Nigeria in the long run. These portfolio investors who masquerade as foreign investors can never help Nigeria. Their only interest is to come and take positions in the fixed income and equity markets at the time the Nigerian naira is completely beating down. Their positions will create artificial bull markets that will attract some uninformed locals into the markets to further inflate the markets. At the time the uninformed are attracted to the market, they will pull their money from the market and Nigeria will go back to square one. They are just creating a fertile ground for this scam by insisting on foreign currency liquidity. They have done this in many markets and economies of the world but have so far failed to replicate that in China. Nigeria being a country of foolish people who are only interested in tribal identity, it will be easy for these assets strippers and economic pirates to have their way.

- Culled from lost@love comment (punch news) on CBN policies failed to attract investors.

You made it look like CBN is dashing dollars out. Nigeria and CBN is not giving out dollars freely. Point of correction.
Are the banks liquid enough to purchase it? Between I never made such statement or anything in idioms relating to it in my comment.
Business › Re: Speculators Lose N100m As CBN Pumps Dollars Into Interbank by wristbangle: 7:41am On Mar 06, 2017
This step will not be sustainable for long. How long do we want to defend naira when other critical sectors are there begging for development.

Fine it's good they are defending the naira through flooding the market with dollars but how many commercial banks are liquid enough to purchase it?

If CBN can really meet demands as they are posturing, all banks would have enabled their cards to work on international platforms... Only Access & GT allow a $100 monthly limit as we speak so what are we saying exactly.

Dear FG/CBN informants, Please inform them to allow our cards work on online platforms & @ the 320 range of GT & Access, then we can pay to watch this "currency battle" movie...

It's still very obvious they are in desperate mode...
This is one of the measure that will definitely force speculators perhaps those who hoard dollars to quickly offset it but their reason for not enabling our master cards to perform such aim still beats my imagination. Even setting a $100 limit transaction is not healthy.

You are wrong. I have met ladies with big financial status and for once I was never intimidated, it depends on the charisma of a guy. If a guy knows how to play his game hence not getting jealous nor being intimated, he can marry such category of ladies. A man should be a man irrespective of any circumstances.

why do some people see marriage as a poverty alleviation enterprise?
The guy is earning 100k a month, the question is what am I as the lady earning as monthly income?
100k is very ok for a man to start a home if the lady has something doing(work, business).
Being a financial liability sucks in marriage.
Marriage is like a Team work, a value chain network.
The bolded got my attention and that is one of the attributes of a successful marriage.

To be honest, your comment changed my thoughts and views about the recent waywardness of ladies as I so much envied the guy in your life right now
Romance › Re: Ladies Can You Marry A Man That Earns 100k Monthly!?..(get In Here) by wristbangle:
I know some ladies ( especially the chickened brain ones) will speak from emotional view that 100k is not enough to sustain a family which stems from the fact that they are jobless yet lazy, broke and stingy.

The amount may look small to your colleagues OP but I have seen some couples living in lagos albeit a particular one in my neighbourhood as the husband earns 80k salary income with his wife earning almost same amount as him and they are doing fine, Infact they just purchased a land @ the out skirt of the city.

It's all about your expenditure. How you can manage/plan your little resources to cater for your basic needs. It's not as if the guy will remain on 100k income forever.

Hungry Ladies will be looking for guys who earn N1M per month and when these particular guys maltreat them, they will tag all guys as being promiscuous, wicked and heartless. Arrant Nonsense!.

As for me, I can't be earning let's say 700k per month and settle for a broke ass lady (not as if I am proud) except if her attitudes/attributes speak well of her personality.

Good evening Lalasticlala. Wider view please cool

You forgot that Cross River, Abia, Taraba, Delta & Edo States are equally cocoa producing states. My question based on this statistics is, what would earn Oduduwa rep & Arewa rep foreign exchange when Nigeria goes the way of USSR? Militants blew up some pipelines, production went down and boom our local currency crashed, the economy went into recession and Nigeria hit rock bottom in all indices! Niger delta States should demand a minimum of 50% derivation principle. Enough of all these exploitation. Even Ugu that is majorly produced in the SE/SS has more export value than cocoa yet some propagandists with their cheap tabloids keep making noise with it. This country irritates and disgusts me!
You are right (Some SS and North Central are cocoa producing states) and that is why I will support federalism, each regions with his own policies to develop it. It's not only ugu that amounts to the 0.4percent contribution, other vegetables are included.

As for oil, remember that Ondo state is also part of oil producing state even though the contribution can't be compared to other SS oil producing states. For now Lagos state crude oil is still meagre but more seismic analysis is still ongoing by upstream oil magnates as recent statistics show that the state has several millions of crude oil deposit in its onshore.

96% of our exports in oil mostly, then we use more foreign exchange to import d refined oil abroad, while there is enough money to build thousand of refineries here.

wonder why d naira keeps losing value

with 11 million hectres of farmable land, and 180 million people our agricultural exports is almost at 0% percent....... insane

and wonder why the country keep on spiraling down in recesion and unemployment is rampant.

the diverse potential in the agricultural sector alone is tremendous

our productivity as a people is zero
U strike a key point @ the bolded in your comment. Two things are still responsible

1. Corruption

2. We are still import based economy according to the data presented. If dangote refinery starts production before 2019 coupled with FG selling abi outsourcing our refineries to investors, major import from refined motor spirit will drop, with the value of naira appreciating more.

From import and export statistics... What i notice is ,nigeria dont even export electric wire talk of appliances. Again thanks for our UGU state for that 0.4 export in vegetables
There is nothing like vegetable export in the list abi my eyes dey see double. (oh seen, that's nice, could be ugu though but other vegetables like amaranthus is there.

In Agricultural sector, cocoa still take the lead (.93 percent) but still a far cry to what it used to be which contributes almost 40 percent of the economy GDP. We still have a lot way to go hence the need for FG to use the money in defending naira now to propagate agric sector to its full potential.

Still the economic growth is still @ negative (-1.30 percent) though better than Q3 (-2.24 percent), which means the GDP growth is 0.93 percent.

Let's wait for 2017 Q1 report. Expecting nigeria to get out of recession ASAP.

3) Make the country an easier place to do business (e.g by removing barriers such as visa)
I agree with your points but this particular point, I think it is necessary to have visa as requirement to do business in another country. Without it, we will have influx of some foreigners manufacturing substandard products and tracing them will be difficult because such policy wasn't on ground before.

What I feel is necessary is to make the visa barrier more flexible for genuine investors.

Why do we worry too much about Dollar exchange rate. Japanese Yen is 140 to a £, Iranian 40,000 to a pound, Indonesia 16,000 to a pound. The people in these countries are not dying. Instead of using the Foreign reserve to defend the Naira, we should be using that to develop our countries infrastructures- electricity, rail infrastructures, establish good security, good hospital and do everything that we make life easy for a common man. It is then foreigners can come and invest in the country. Defending the naira is only serving some sectional interest like those who pay school fees abroad. How long are we going to be defending the Naira
The Gross per income of those countries you mentioned is high compare to Nigeria. The Gross per income of nigeria is very low and the current inflation rate is nothing to write home about. By the time Naira hit depreciation ceilings, I wonder how people will survive.

One of the way forward is pump money to critical sectors in the country(which you mentioned in your comment) that will boost our foreign earnings more but we are still depending on oil alone.

Russia spent $75billion trying to defend the Ruble in 2015 and the currency still ended that year close to 13% weaker. I don't know where our central bankers get their wisdom from.

Introduce a free float and let us know the true value of the Naira. From that point, we will know it cannot get any worse than it will get.
Nice analysis bro. Like I said this policy will not be sustainable for long. However floating the naira may lead to serious devaluation as it may trade for N1000 against a dollars. We need a new strategy that will keep things in balance.

Currency traders, speculators and hoarders are all economic saboteurs and economic terrorists.

The release of such fund will further drop the exchange rate.

With our reserves, CBN can afford to defend th Naira in the interim.

Full liberalisation of of FX will see the economic terrorists takin advantage of the policy to form a cabal that will Dr exchange rate to USD 1 to N5,000.
The bolded is the summary for naira depreciation in addition with the CBN flawed policies.
