SportsNigerian Clubs Suspended After 'scandalous' Scorelines by write2obi(op): 3:19pm On Jul 10, 2013
Four clubs involved in two play-off matches
that ended 79-0 and 67-0 respectively - a
total of 146 goals - have been suspended in
Nigeria.
Plateau United Feeders were 79-0 victors over
Akurba FC while Police Machine FC demolished
Bubayaro FC 67-0.
"It is unacceptable - a scandal of huge
proportions," said Muke Umeh, chairman of the
Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)
Organising Committee.
"The teams are suspended indefinitely,
pending further sanctions."
Plateau United Feeders and Police Machine
went into the matches level on points, with
promotion to the lowest tier of the Nationwide
League Division at stake.
Feeders scored 72 of their goals in the second
half, while Police Machine reportedly scored
61 times after the break in their game.
The results meant that Plateau edged above
Police Machine on goal difference.
Umeh added: "We will investigate this matter
thoroughly and get to the bottom of it."
The NFF's director of competitions, Dr
Mohammed Sanusi, gave assurances that the
Organising Committee would hand out severe
sanctions on all persons and institutions
indicted by the investigation.
"The teams involved, their players and
officials, match officials, coordinator and
anyone found to have played some role in this
despicable matter would be severely dealt
with," Sanusi said.

SportsUsain Bolt To Play For Manchester United by write2obi(op): 7:45pm On Jul 07, 2013
He has been saying for some time that he believes he
is good enough to play for Manchester United, but
Usain Bolt is a man that is confident in his ability to
do most things.
The fastest man in the world has continuously said
that he wants to play for the side that he supports,
and now it seems that he will get his chance.
The Jamaican sprinter has been invited to play in
United’s match against Sevilla, Rio Ferdinand’s
testimonial game.
Clearly the move is something of a publicity
generator, but it does promise to be interesting to see
if pace alone is enough to make a footballer. Theo
Walcott has certainly been trying to show that.

Jarus: Questions that keep coming to my mind:

1, Were Oscar a Spaniard, will he make Spain's first 11?

2, Were Fabregas a Brazilian, will he not make Brazil's first 11?

3, Oscar is at best only a little better than our own Victor Moses, will VM have made Brazilian national team?

4, Will Mikel Obi make the first team (i.e first 11+3 sure sub) of any national team in the world, Brazil, England, Argentina and Spain in particular?

Analysts, over to you!
1. No, Oscar will not make Spain 11
2. Yes, Cesc will start for Brazil
3. Oscar is miles beter than Victor Moses,Oscar plays a mature brand of football, while VM might have potential, but still very poor in his decision making
4. maybe England and Argentina, But no to Spain and Brazil.

The fall and fall of "Tiki Taka" first it was Barca now Spain. Both Barca and Spain need to think out something real fast if they are to stand anychance of silverwear next season and 2014worldcup respectively, cos teams have figured out how to counter their Tiki Taka style of play.

SportsShortlist For Confeds Adidas Golden Ball Announced by write2obi(op): 5:49pm On Jun 29, 2013
Adidas Golden Ball, is awarded as
always to the best player in the Confederation cup, tournaments, Fifa Confederation's Cup Brazil 2013 will be determined by media representatives accredited for the event, The winner will be announced immediately after the final at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on 30 June. The
runner-up wins the adidas Silver Ball, with the adidas Bronze Ball awarded to the player in third.
The candidates were selected by the FIFA Technical
Study Group (TSG).
Candidates for the adidas Golden Ball at the
FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 (in
alphabetical order):

Andres Iniesta (Spain): he need no introduction, a complete attacker, with outstanding footwork and work ethics, he plays ontop of the midfield 3 or on the left in a 3 man attack, has lead the world champions exceptionally, with a man of the match performance against Uruguay.

Neymar (Brazil): the skinny young boy has being in sensational form in the tournament, scoring volleys after volleys, showing no sign of pressure after making a record breaking move to Europe shortly before the tournament began, likes to play on the left of a front 3, where he can cut inside and shot with his right foot.

Paulinho (Brazil): never watched him till the confeds, powerful midfield player, with outstanding positional play, can also make his presence felt in the opposition's penalty box, plays in a 2man midfield know when to attack and when to sit back and defend, looking forward to watching him more in EPL.

Andrea Pirlo (Italy): what else can be said about the midfield maestro, Pirlo just like fine wine gets better with age, not the fastest but can outmanover his opponent with his quick thinking and exceptional passing ability, also one of the best in dead ball situations, Milan must be asking them self why they let him join Juventus for nothing. Plays as a deeplying playmaker, controlling games with short and long passes.

Sergio Ramos (Spain): a true leader at the back, organising the Spanish defence that is yet to be bridged from open play with ease. His no nonsense defensive approach to the game has made his a start for both Spain and Maldrid.

Luis Suarez (Uruguay): The 26-year-old rates as one
of the top strikers in the game. His free kicks can be deadly, as he has proved again in Brazil, the striker curled a perfectly-struck shot past Iker Casillas and into the right corner of the Spanish net. Suarez’ three goals in Brazil mean he has also become his country’s all-time leading scorer, overtaking a living legend Forlan. Plays anywhere in the attack, can dribble or bite his way through any defence.

Previous winners
1997 - Denilson (Brazil)
1999 - Ronaldinho (Brazil)
2001 - Robert Pires (France)
2003 - Thierry Henry (France)
2005 - Adriano (Brazil)
2009 - Kaka (Brazil)

The winner for me is between Neymar and Iniesta, Who is your winner?

siddiq202: People love Mikel. Don't be surprise when you see people arguing that he's better than Yaya Toure.

Ok To avoid continuous discussion that would lead to no where since nobody is ready to agree with the other, let's do what Realmadrid and Morinho did (I don't know if the mutual consent can be used here undecided ). We will assume this argument never occur cheesy grin What about that?
good idea grin grin
SportsRe: Mikel, African Footballer Of The Year, 2013?? by write2obi(m): 11:56am On Jun 29, 2013
Lemmie make it clear to all you, mikel is the best player we(super eagles) have, but that does not make him better than he actually is, for those of you saying mikel could not fulfil his potential cos he was moved to a defensive role, if he was that good he would not have to move to a defensive role, don't even tell me lampard and ballack was ahead of his, what happend when ballack left and lampard was relegated to the bench?. Manzukich was singed as an understudy to Gomez but he ended up forcing Gomez out of the starting11. If he was that "Good" he would not have being moved to a defensive role. Attacking position in "top" clubs are reserved for top attacker, and mikel is clearly not a "top" attacker, mikel is a player clearly overrated (in nigeria). Suprised "Mr money bag" has not giving him enough competition in the first team.
SportsRe: Mikel, African Footballer Of The Year, 2013?? by write2obi(m): 11:38am On Jun 29, 2013
thegoodjoehunt: Torres VS RVP - Torres has been a star striker and top striker from Athletico which he captained before joining Liverpool. At Liclverpool, he was one of the top performers for years. Van Persie has just really had two top seasons his whope life. So I take Torres as the better payer over timrle

Lulkaku vs Chicarito - hard to choose. Lukaku is just starting and is much younger. Chicarito has played more top games, so it is hard to choose.

Hazard vs Carzola - Carzola is older and has played more games but in a short tike, Hazard has been the best player in the french league, Hazard was the first player to win man of the match in his first 3 epo games and has the potential of being the best player in the World. Carzola upon the 6 years age difference is never at this level. So I take Hazard.
if u'll take Torres ahead of RVP then there is no sence talking football with you.
SportsRe: Mikel, African Footballer Of The Year, 2013?? by write2obi(m): 10:57am On Jun 29, 2013
thegoodjoehunt: That is because he has never been giving the chance to play his natural role. Do you think Messi or CR7 will win World best player playing as a defensive midfielder?

Mikel is in that class, it isn't a coincidence that coach Keshi being the first coach in years to give him a chanc in that rope has seen Mikel grow in reputation in a short time. This is just 6 months ppaying for Nigeria.
He was moved to a defensive role cos muo saw he could not compete with the best in that position.
SportsRe: Mikel, African Footballer Of The Year, 2013?? by write2obi(m): 10:25am On Jun 29, 2013
thegoodjoehunt: Mikel is on an expensive contract. Galatasaray wants him but buying out the contract will be too costly. Do you think Song was earning more than Mikel at Arsenal? Why do you think Song will be valued higher?
Lemmie ask you, Mikel earns more than song at arsenal dose not make mikel a better player, Torres earn more than RVP at arsenal, lukaku cost more than chicharito, hazard cost n earn more than cadzola at arsenal, does it make the above mentioned Chelsea players better than their counterparts?
SportsRe: Mikel, African Footballer Of The Year, 2013?? by write2obi(m): 9:57am On Jun 29, 2013
Adufaye: weitin b mikel natural role? Bcus he played as an attackin midfielder at U20? Song is better dan him as a midfielder,as a winger,as a defender nd as an attacker! Song tinks faster dan mikel, song hardly played d ball back as mikel always does
why u talk watin i wan talk grin
