Not all swampy land are protected but the biggest issue here is house is likely to be your biggest investment and it's your responsibility to make sure you did not buy or build on land that is protected. That is a simple logic. TechCapon: |

What you are saying is the real problem we face as a Nigerian. Building on a wet/swamp land will cost you your freedom, and you will pay the fees to return the land to very state in US. Ronaldinho was sentenced to 2 years for building on a protected land in Brazil. Nigeria government only demolished houses without arresting and sending people who build on such land to jail, but if you do that in other countries, you will end up in jail. It is not the duty of government to do your findings for you, it is your duty to make sure to protect you biggest assets. Government does not tell you what car to buy, while do they tell you where to build a house? We always assume we can get away with things as a Nigerian and when things does not go our way, we claim the victim. Every land are marked and a simple research will show if such land is wet land and not allow for building so other purposes. Buying the most expensive thing in our lives should include diligent findings and not buy and ask questions later. TechCapon: 1 Like 1 Share |

ICE detainer means immigration want you to be transfer to there custody when you finish serving your time and they will start deportation proceedings. Since he has a green card, he will go thru immigration court and he can make bail and be release while his case is going thru immigration proceedings but the law is written in black and white. A green card holder who commit a felony is subject to deportation. He need God's intervention because he is closer to Naija than anything bro. That is the fact. Onefornaija24: 1 Like |

You just nailed it. Nigeria is better than some countries and not every japa make sense. Traveling to India to go hustle while Indians are traveling to other countries to go hustle is called hustling backward. There are jobs you can do in Nigeria and make a living and be better off compare to people who travel to some countries but we Nigerian do not have dignity in labor. We believe some jobs are beneath us. A simple saying I learned as I grow up is no job is beneath you as long as it pays your bill. Cantonese: 2 Likes |

Multiple own goals for real. Before the invasion, Ukraine never dream of striking inside Russian and it's a daily occurrence now. Russia has lost her fear factors and the war expose Russia military strength. If Russia is struggling to defeat Ukraine without no Navy, well trained armed forces, then it speaks for itself. Before the war, Russia was considered a super power and not any longer. AllTheWayUp: 4 Likes |

Dangote employed thousand of Nigerians and he is enemy of Nigeria according to you while politicians employ nobody, steals the country blind but you can understand. Here is how economics of a country is run. Companies like Google, Walmart, Microsoft etc that employs millions of Americans call the short by giving their inputs on what economic policies the government should pursue. A whole state in US will make new laws to accommodate a company cos they create jobs. When Disney was having problem in Frorida, my home state of Virginia offer Disney, free land, tax free for 10 years to attract them cos of the 80k jobs. Such rules include lots of perks and freebies. What Dangote get is what he is entitled to cos he creates lots of jobs. That is how you attract jobs. CountinBlessins: 3 Likes 1 Share |

He is spot on. US increase interest rate from 2% to almost 6% and millions of jobs was lost. When interest was in 2's, I had to give away jobs cos I can handle it all. When interest rate jump to 5's, jobs trickle and tech industry was the first to cave. Between Facebook, Google , Twitter and Microsoft, over 500k people was let go. Interest should be up incremental and not just a sudden jump. In a year time, most manufacturers will have to close shop for real. WhiteWood: |

While you have some valid points, some jobs are more demanding than others and not everyone will work inside A/C or from home. The government can only enforce minimum wage and work environment safety and leave the employment bargains for employer and employees. US has one of the most enforced labor laws in the one but some jobs na die here too and you wish you never do it but bills still need to be paid. I had worked in tire shop that pays $12hr in Virginia almost ten years ago. I had to use pain killer every night I get home. I did not quit. I persevere cos I have bills to pay and continue to look for something better. Fast forward to present, I own my business and I charge $100hr to work on a truck with minimum of 2 hours. Quiting a job cos it's hard without alternative is like letting go of a small bird in hand hoping to catch a big one inside the forest. What if you don't get a big one soon? The OP should continue to hang on to it while looking for something better. Omanambala: |
Politics / Re: Security Arrests Over 100 BDC Operators In Abuja As Naira Slumps To N1980 Per $1 by xandy84: 1:07am On Feb 22 |
BDC are only responding to market demand. Average Nigerians has lost confident in Naira and to save their investment, they quickly convert their money to $$. The sudden fall of Naira had nothing to do with speculation and all to do with government policies. The government remove subsidy without putting in place mechanism to cushion the effect on such removal. Subsidy anchor our everyday life from transportation, food etc subsidy removal brings about increase in prices of everything and before the economy can adjust and absorb the shock of subsidy removal, the government went to float naira. Demand will always create supply and when demand is more than supply, the price will definitely rise. Basic economics. Arresting all BDC operators will only make it worse cos it will create artificial scarcity with more increase in prices. Birniwa: |

High school economics will tell you banning a product when the demand is high will result.in higher prices because demand will always create supply. Countries like Zimbabwe, Venezuela had tried to bad foreign currencies and failed woefully. Nigeria and our people must accept the reality and the true value of our currency. The idea of having a strong when we produce nothing is the beginning of hyperinflation. A weaker local currency while we produce lots of good is an highway to development. China is a perfect example tollyboy5: 1 Like |

Car Talk / Re: See What A Mechanic Did To A Customer's Lexus SUV (pics/video) by xandy84: 10:07pm On Feb 18 |
What do you mean by modern cars? Why do people still die in car accidents if modern cars are so safe? While lastest cars has numerous airbags that protect occupants in event of accident, damage on that SUV is so significant that it can only happen on highway speed and likely above 60 mph. I have had 2 total loss vehicle since I have been driving and none has such heavy damage to my vehicle and I was driving close to 60 mph. That truck accident happen on high speed and whatever the mechanic hit must sustain heavy inpact even is a jersey wall. The story is does not add up. Someone is not telling the whole truth. faceland: |

Car Talk / Re: My Neighbour Jacked Up My Car by xandy84: 8:58pm On Feb 16 |
The neighbor is not cashing out. I paid the agreed price and the car belong to him. The OP is at wrong here. Will you be OK if someone sell you a phone, you paid him and when he get to Computer village to buy a new phone, realizing the price difference, he comes back and ask to return your money and collect his phone? The OP should do the most honorable thing here. Either pay interest or collect the money and let the buyer has his car. We all lose some. Automolite: |
Car Talk / Re: My Neighbour Jacked Up My Car by xandy84: 8:41pm On Feb 16 |
You're completely wrong here. The buyer and seller aggreed to do business and the buyer fulfill his part of the deal which makes him the owner of the car. The seller CANNOT unilaterally change the term of agreement without the consent of the buyer and if the buyer disagree, nothing can be change. Will the OP change his mind if he has sells the car to call dealership who already paid him and take possession of the car and documents? Nope and same treatment should be applied to the neighbor. Subsidy does not work but you can't just pull rug under the general public as the present administration did and expect things to work out well. I 💯 support subsidy removal but I want it done quarterly, so the economy can adjust to upward trend of increase in prices of goods and services. The government stop subsidy, float Naira at the same time and the result is nothing but catastrophic to every day people. The government is yet to increase minimum wage and they beg the question how do they want people to make it to work?. Too much of good medicine becomes poison. nairalanda1: 3 Likes |

Even Nigerians abroad would not even think of investing back home. I finished my housing project at the cost of $95k and a year later, it's a very bad investment cos as $$ appreciate against naira, the project is beginning to look like white elephant project but the saving grace is I did not borrow to finance it and I never intend to recoup my investment thru rental. Consistent depreciation of naira is turn off for investors and it wil worsen our unemployment issue for real. abhosts: 8 Likes 1 Share |

While you're partial right. Spiritual warfare does not provide electricity, advance a society or provide good roads. The first ten spiritual nations in the world are the most backward nations in the whole world cos they fail to do the basic while praying for solution to every problem, even the one God has given them brain to solve. In less than 50 years, China develops from an agrarian society to one of the largest economy in the world while Nigeria goes from developing country to underdeveloped nation. CodeTemplar: 13 Likes |
Career / Re: Nigerian Lady Fired From New Job In Canada For Saying Sorry Too Much by xandy84: 1:56pm On Feb 06 |
Being too apologetic is seen as a sign of manipulation in western words. Fix the problem and quit apologetic. When my daughter was around 3 years of age, she says sorry for everything. I don't see anything wrong as a Nigerina father, but my wife who is an American get upset each time she say sorry more than once. She will tell to stop saying sorry and not do it again. Care job is a client based, when your actions get on the nerves of your clients, you are done and I can understand when she was fired. Her client is in constant pain and you use words that gets on her nerve. That's double jeopardy. thesicilian: |

Pegging the naira does not solve the problem either. It actually makes it worse than floating the naira. China always devalue her currency to encourage export cos stronger currencies makes other countries will not be able to afford your export. The only way to strengthen naira is for Naigeria to become export dependant economy while reducing import to bear minimum. Babalegba: 3 Likes 1 Share |

You can't legislate a country to prosperity. If such is possible, there will be no need to study economics in university and country who tried such found out the hard way. Zimbabwe tried what you stated here but it only made it worse. The moment the government begins to strong arm free market, investors will lose confident in local currency and inflation will skyrocket. Another country that tried the approach you state was Venezuela. The president implemented various draconian laws just to shore up local currency and the effect makes local currency worthless than the paper it was printed on. In the height of inflation in Venezuela, you need a wheelbarrow full of cash to buy bread. NAC1666: 1 Like |

Your analysis of 200k is $200 does not work that way. I have lived in US for 10 years uninterrupted and I had work my way from $10hr to present $100hr and I can tell you someone who earn $2k net in US is not better than someone who earn 200k monthly in Nigeria when you factor bills. Average American that goes home with $2k net monthly is broke and one illness from bankruptcy. Abroad ain't for everybody and if we go by exchange rate, lots of people had left a career back home and end up in worse situation cos all they see is $$ sign. The first ruse of japa is converting your naira to $$ thinking you're underpaid. It does not work that way. donmaxman: 3 Likes |

Even Hamas now will be full of regret cos the destruction in Gaza will take decades to reconstruction and Isreal will hunt Hamas for years and that will reduce their ability to govern.
