I am responding in context. I have live in US for 14 uninterrupted years and I am yet to see Arabs chasing anyone from Chicago, Texas, DC etc. Fact is there are some fanatics among them and same goes to white supremacist etc. No tribe or religion has a monopoly of violent. The reason why US government still allow people from Middle East and other region is there is net gain at the end of the day.

You decided to bring up how the world is moving from degrees that don't confer you distinguished skills, so let me ask you, the degrees that confer you distinguished skills, are they celebrated or not?

The conversation isn't even about you skills or experience but if academic excellence is celebrated in western countries. See, I switch between both worlds, while professionally you need to have skills, experience and certifications, that doesn't negate the fact that if you're purely into academia, your academic excellence will be overlooked.

You guys should try and understand conversations. If you want to further in academics, your performance record is important, while if you want to further in professional development, you'll need to skill up to edge out competitions but what happens when you and your competitors have the same level of skill..what will be the next or should I say close criteria?

Why did you finish with 3.8, why not lesser than that since degree is losing value? Why didn't you drop out and focus on a skill trade? Again, why did you finish with a 3.8, why not 2.8 or 1.8?

You are wrong. I have a 3.8 CGPA out of 4 point and when I get to graduation hall, people plenty with 4 out of 4. In US at the moment, degree is losing it value to skill trade. The rate of universities merging and closing completely due to low enrollments has never been seen before. The world is moving away from degree that does not confer you distinguish skills. Era of first class in philosophy and expecting employers to look your way is long gone.

For the OP, any and every developed country place value on education and encourage their students to perform significantly well. They cherish it a lot. If you're opportuned to have a first class degree, go for it. It will help a lot especially if you're into academics. Don't follow the bandwagon of first class doesn't guarantee success

I had graduated with 3.3 from Unilag, only to graduate with 3.7 out of 4 point CGPA in US even with less reading. Nigeria educational system should focus less or cramming and pouring it back to the lecturers.

You're very correct. I believe the term "Digital skills" has seen it demise because the AI perform such taks with ease, better and that has changed everything for real. Profession like programming, tech support, design etc will continue to see a sharp decline due to how efficiently AI can do such jobs while blue collar jobs will see increase in demand for their skills cos AI can't fix cars, do plumbing or replace a roof. I can tell you my friend had applied to over 100 jobs as tech support/account manager and yet to land a single interview. I was listening to Ivy league school in California saying their students in IT degrees are finding it difficult to land a gig due to mass investment of companies in AI. This is an opportunities for smart people to see opportunities and invest in themselves that continue to acquire skills that is going obsolete by the day.

You don't know the hell what you are talking about, I repeat no custom or border agents in the US can prevent a naturalized citizen from re-entry into the US or lock you up to force you to voluntary self deport or give up your citizenship.You can't even lock up a Green card holder trying to renter, you can only take them before a immigration judge talk less of a naturalized citizen.

Where do you people get this fake news from, you can only be denaturalized as a naturalized citizen through the courts and a judge and it is an intensive legal process, no body at a point of entry can deny a naturalized citizen re entry no matter your record or history but they can initiate denaturalization process against you after letting you go home. The US is based on law and order, and no one can just arbitrarily lock you up. You are here spreading nonsense gossip you read somewhere on Facebook.

That is half truth. While the process has to goes thru the court, you will be waiting in jail to go thru the process and you will end up voluntarily give up your citizenship. Deporting anyone who arrive in US with inspection is tedious process and ICE knows that but whe you are locked up and they keep appealing your release, most people voluntarily sign their deportation order.

You are very correct. As long as someone's citizenship is not acquired by birth, it can be taken away, mostly for fraud or misdeeds and Trump administration are already turbo charged in finding past misdeeds that will spell trouble for some people. Even US passport does not guarantee reentry now as long as you're not born here. ICE stays at the airport now and when you come to check in, they pull your record and any blemishes send you to secondary inspection and there comes the problem if you're naturalized citizens. They are even detaining citizens for hours, tell them their 4th amendment does not applies at port of entry. Denaturalization process is in full speed at the moment.

Nigeria is not the place to come and be gambling with your future. Entry into the country is easy once you have your Nigerian passport. The era of professional jobs is long gone. Most skill professions like plumbing, carpentry or diesel mechanics pays more than the so called professional jobs with job security due to low supply of skill people. ICE arrested, humiliated 300 South Koreans working to build battery factory in Atlanta 2 weeks ago. Those guys were deported and the work stopped on the factory cos Americans does not have the skill and the technical know-how to build such factory and the 8600 the factory suppose to provide for Americans is now on hold. Nobody can file for you if you are already on removal order. The only way to change that is for a federal judge to reopen your case which is near impossible. My concern for him is that he has been in US long enough to know that traveling to Canada during winter season by road is a No go. The cold will kill you for real. He made a rookie mistake.
