I am a 8 years experienced mechanic that also teach people how to be a mechanic in community college and I can tell you parts for automotive is either made in China or Mexico cos of price factor. Ordering parts from US or Germany is buying parts shipped from China to US.
I bought Ford F350 work truck with 160,000 miles. Scanned the truck, found out it has timing issue. I do not replaced the timing even as a mechanic cos I know it's going to be slippery slope from there on..I swapped the engine for reman engine that will do another 200,000 miles easy.
We buy a car that has over 200,000 miles from abroad that someone has already rolled the miles back, and we expect it to perform as brand new car and blame mechanics and China parts. Sometimes, you best bet is to let the engine go cos the internal wear and tear on the block and timing is too much to repair.

Even with your money you can’t get good service, and if you are able to get good service be advice 95% of all parts in Nigeria are China, not the original from the car manufacturer. So within a few months the part would have packed up. I drive a Benz, I have the money but to get good service is a problem, I have now resorted to ordering the parts from abroad, expensive, but at least I have peace of mind. Car generally is expensive to maintain.

The co-conspirators allegedly sent false instructions to the victims' email accounts from fake emails, the indictment said, which were forged with sender addresses, to deceive them into sending money to bank accounts controlled by the perpetrators.
The accounts controlled by the perpetrators are called drop accounts."The indictment also alleges that the defendants conspired to commit money laundering by disbursing the fraudulently obtained funds in the drop accounts to other accounts by initiating account transfers, withdrawing cash, obtaining cashier’s checks and by writing checks to other individuals and entities, to hide the true ownership and the source of those assets.," the indictment detailed. According to the indictment, Aliyu is alleged to have made a $350,00 wire transfer from one of the drop accounts to an account he controlled in South Africa.

Obi sent $1.32 million in stolen money to Nigeria in just two months in 2019, prosecutors said. They said his 20-year prison sentence for theft and engaging in criminal activity reflects the vast amount of money he was laundering overseas.

"This sentence sends a clear message. Tarrant County is not the place to bring your criminal enterprises," said Criminal District Attorney Phil Sorrells.
"A sentence this significant for a financial crime sends a message that Tarrant County will not tolerate those who prey on our most vulnerable citizens. Today, justice was served," Colleyville Police Chief Michael Miller added. Prosecutors are still working cases against the other three members of the "Yahoo Boys."

The problem with this analysis is that you are assuming all tech jobs pay 100k. Even at that, if you earn 300k annually, even if taxes take away 50% that's 150k net income annually. If you're not extravagant, you can survive on 40 to 50k annually. (Most Americans survive on less than 40k yearly and they're doing fine) . If you save 100k yearly, what is 300k (#200M) that you won't save after 4 to 5 years of staying abroad??

The truth is, this may not be the reality of everybody abroad, but there is no denying that there are actually people who are earning this much and living within their means

While software engineer earn good pay, majority of people in tech ain't software engineer just like most people in medical field ain't doctors and non tech workers still make decent wages.

That's $330k net in 2 years i.e earning average of $14,000 per month. To earn $330k in 2 years you must earn net of $167,000 or gross of $260,000 per year. That's average of $125 per hour working 8hours per day non stop for 2 years. Let's even assume they do two jobs i.e 16 hours per day. That's $62.5 per hour. I can't wrap my head around two jobs that pay $62.5per hour that you can do consistently for two years without issue and not have mental breakdown.

Let's assume it's a 2 income home. That's $130k for each partner. Seems doable with two incomes without any SPENDINGS. And you stated that's not the only project they have.

Except that friend of yours and their spouse works in IT or Health or sales where they net $300k yearly then i call bullshit at their stories except they have other incomes they have not yet disclosed to you. Maybe import cars? Even that isn't profitable given the inflation in the west in the last 2 years due to covid. That friend is into fraud or is absolutely lying.
