Alxmyr: The story was not properly told.Well from your point of view, I guess Fashola should be hanged given the amount of demolition he has done in Lagos against the will of the people. I am tired of reading comments of people who take sides because of preferential attachments. Was the demolition for the overall and greater good of the people? Does Amaechi stand to gain anything from the demolition apart for developing the place? Did he try to calm the people and explain why the demolition was needed? Did he try to get someone to come and cajole the people as regards that? Does he control the press around Nigeria that all reported her action of snatching the mic from a governor and scolding him in front of the people he governs was bad? Politics does not go straight as you thought brother. Dont be myopic, was Rivers not under siege? or how do you explain the thugs in the house of assembly? The People stoning the 4 governors, the demonstrations and the inability of the police to perform their duties. Why wont he have problems with Odili, Omehia, Wike, Okpara, Maeba? If he is lucky to have GEJ as president, then we are lucky to have someone who refuses to be a puppet and stand his ground. If he has committed any crime or done something unconstitutional there are several ways to handle that. But please we should be rational free thinking individuals. There is no reason why Amaechi should bow before GEJ simply because he is president. The sooner we all as Nigerians change our method of reasoning, the sooner we can move forward. FYI, I do not support Amaechi or GEJ, I am after a changed Nigeria, regardless of who rules it. If we have all come to the realization that the ways of our fathers are wrong, then why do we still stand by it? |
KenGali: If we go back to the basics, political decisions are not about morality, nor are they about majority. They are about the most active and strongest interest and power. If the residents of the water front do not want it demolished, and are powerful enough to pressure you not to do so, then you will be foolish to demolish without carrying them along. You can debate the benefits of the demolition all you want. we are talking about power play.Emmm....I think you are jumping around too much. I thought you were talking about the interest of the people that Amaechi considered irrelevant? Now its about power play? |
KenGali: That singular she represents the interest of people that Amechi obviously consider irrelevant. As a Governor, you do not govern in a vacuum. It is your responsibility to carry along all stakeholders even those with dissenting opinions. When you do not, these stakeholders will exert political pressure, which is very legitimate. That is lobbying. If your political base cannot lobby you on decision then you have a big problem. That you have political office does not mean your opinions are absolute. a principle that Goodluck has demonstrated again and again! Can you compare that with Amechi's so called leadership quality.Do not be a puppet!!! Investigate issues first before you jump in! What was the essence of demolishing in the first place and who says the demolishing is not in the best interest of the people? Please read this article by Ruben Abati. Am pretty sure you know who he represents. http://www.daystint.com/patience-jonathan-misbehaved-in-okrika-rivers-state-reuben-abati/ And dont get me started on GEJ's leadership skills, that my friend is a topic for another day. |
Billyonaire: I am a PDP member and both GEJ and Amaechi are PDP members. Amaechi is suspended because he DISOBEYS the Party. Amaechi was elected under PDP, then if PDP stakeholders in Rivers State said; Dont demolish Okrika Waterfront, he is supposed to listen. If PDP said, do not remove Local Government Chairman from position without party negotiations, he is supposed to listen. When these PDP members in the State, took the case to the National Secretariat, Amaechi is seen as being insurbodinate to the Party and since the National Secretariat is at Abuja, he decides to insult our President cos he is a member of PDP at Abuja. Watch that video and judge it, he is arrogant, intolerant and empty. Now I understand where you are coming from given you are a PDP member. No offense meant! Now, the problems in Rivers State are not because Amaechi is suspended. No matter how you try to frame this, it is obvious that the problems Amaechi is facing today is because there is a notion he wants to be vice president, and therefore would favour a northern candidate given that the north would do anything to seize power in 2015. That been said, which PDP stakeholders said; Dont demolish the Okrika Waterfront? I know who said it, but a singular she does not constitute 'stakeholders' plus if the 'elected' governor decides that demolishing it is in the best interest of the state, does it mean he did something wrong? If you decide he is arrogant because he chooses not to listen to PDP members in Rivers, then fine, I agree. Maybe some folks do not like being puppets. |
texaco1: Billy ,leave all these people alone ,when the time comes they will realise who holds the ace .it is pointless arguing with them but if you have got the time you can continueWhat ace Are you listening to yourself? What is happening right now is something that is going to affect our lives for a very long time, the lives of you, me and every other Nigerian. If you think its a game then wake up, you are dreaming. Amechi is an ***hole, GEJ same. But if we allow our basic human rights, our morals and the little sanity we have left get trashed because we support one group or the other, then we would be the ones to suffer from it. |
Billyonaire: I think you have some molecules of Amaechi in you. The Premise of this discourse is within the confines of that video and the issues therein, any other issues and matters arising within your statements are outside the confines of this chit-chat. You are derailing and I wish you can stick to the issues in discourse, I hate meandering with thoughtless swaggering of political tadpoles.Yup, you can start the mudslinging. If I decide I can't take it, I would simply keep silent. FYI, I am not pro- Amechi or pro- Gej. I am just a simple Nigerian that is ashamed to sometimes say I am, and if opposing the ills we have come to consider as norm is Nigeria is the way forward, so be it. But please can you enlighten me on why Amechi should be so vividly attacked by powers high up, just because there is a notion that he might have a political ambition. Please note the words; notion and might. |
enigmang: Actuallly Amaechi was not voted for... It was Omehia that won the election... The guy is too arrogant he has been lucky so far but he should no that the people he is romancing with will all desert him hen the heat becomes too much .. What comes to mind is how 5people where able to overpower 27 ... Only shows that most of the 27 are actually on the fence...In terms of Government, development and industrialization to the Rivers state people, can you fault him? That my friend is the most important question. Most of the people in government today are not by any means supposed to be in that position. And by bringing up the 5 against 27, don't tell me you support that! How are we ever going to move forward if youths like yourself can even bring that up? Seriously, i think Nigerians should wake up. Don't even get me started on the RSHA. |
Billyonaire: Ofcourse Amaechi is pained, he is hopeless and desperate. The only missile left in the hands of a falling politician is to pull others down with him. In all his claims and counterclaims, he has never pointed out an issue that the President has personally vindictive, he keeps muttering words like, his aids, his security apparatus. And GEJ is the silent one here right? by using 'unschooled' dogs to do the dirty work, and unleashing his "lady". Please, GEJ has bigger problems than Amechi, he should face that, there is nothing wrong in a man having ambitions. Most importantly GEJ should not forget when something similar was almost done to him, when his superior died in a foreign land, he made a statement then which i believe he has forgotten. |
Billyonaire: The First and Most Important is the First Law, without the First the rest are misfit. I disagree with your assetion that politics is about arrogance and pride. It is the very reason we learnt that 'Pride' goes before a "fall'.The First and most important law is by no means greater than the rest of the laws.Pride makes us long for a solution to things – a solution, a purpose, a final cause. Secondly, Pride makes us long for a solution to things – a solution, a purpose, a final cause, which I think we Nigerians lack at this point. |
Billyonaire: I saw arrogance, I saw false charisma, and I saw a man who disobeys the "First of the 48 Laws of Power" without a standing in the transgression of the law.Arrogance and pride has everything to do with politics. This is politics, the first law is not by any means greater than the remaining 47. Also the sooner 'we young Nigerians' begin to question and oppose the 'normal order of business' in Nigeria, the better for us all. I think the time has come for us all to stop being myopic, we are no longer in the stone ages. The only way we can move forward in this country is by questioning, opposing and if need be, fighting against all the rubbish we are handed down by leaders, who shouldn't be in that position in the first place. |
Please, to all the internet illiterates we have here on nairaland, it is always advisable to do some research on your own once in a while and not just type up nonsense because you have a blackberry. [b]Chris Brown's female accuser is full of it ... so says the owner of the nightclub where the singer allegedly assaulted the woman -- in fact, the owner tells TMZ, CB never even touched her. The owner of Heat Ultra Lounge in Anaheim tells us, "Based on the information which we have gathered from our security company, mall security, and other party goers which were at HEAT on Saturday night; It is apparent that the alleged incident regarding Chris Brown is false." The owner says 24-year-old Deanna Gines had repeatedly tried to jump on stage during Chris' performance at the club -- and later tried to rush Chris in his roped-off VIP area. The owner says Gines got tossed as a result of her behavior -- and while being taken out, the owner says Gines took off her heels and threw them at security.
