FYI, these windows are FIXED and cannot be opened. What the report is talking about is the flap that shades the passenger from the sun, like a visor. the windows are double-sealed and thick!! even the cockpit window is almost amoured!!!

(Reason people open windows in airplane) Improved visibility might be helpful in case of an emergency. Specifically, the occupants must be able to see outside to assess if it is safe to open the emergency exits. This is especially important in emergencies that involve water landings (if an exit is below the water line) or in cases of an external fire, where the act of opening an exit will expose the occupants to the fire.

Kx: The pilot could nt have auto opened the windows when the plane was on the roof because by then the plane might have lost some or all it automatic controls so to speak. The surest way for passengers to escape would have been through manual procedures by opening the emergency exit but in the shock that greeted the sudden crash, would anybody have even remembered emergency exits? no way

Reference: To have crashed at Agege it had to be an approach into Lagos so I suppose Abuja was the correct departure. If it was outbound it will come down south of the airport - anywhere from Ishaga up to Ota as it turns north. If going east it will make a left turn over Apapa and flatten out over Lekki as it exits over the Atlantic.

by Brussels and wants to avoid bailouts similar to those of

(EU) Separate US financial press report indicating Spain's
own bailout fund has only about €9B remaining. While it can

How to interpret this?

We saw sharp sell-offs of EURUSD immediately following ECB's
rejection, it seems that the market rather take a Spanish
Bailout as a positive signal than a rejection of a Spanish
Bailout Plan... Which once again brings us back to the basis
of market analysis, that uncertainty is always worse than
news, no matter how bad the news is.

I would expect to see EURUSD retest the 2011 lows of around
the 1.2000 level, giving the fact that Greek election is
coming up in a couple of weeks and Spain is under tremendous
scrutiny, not mentioning the implication of requesting
extention to the Deficit to GDP target... The key is to keep
selling EUR whenever it makes significant recoveries.
