Good job so far. As rightly said, your funding source is a major determinant of the additional documents you need. Looks like your sponsoring yourself, so let me break it down for you. If you're sponsoring yourself and employed, some additional docs include: - Employment letter - Pay slips - If possible, get a letter of promotional offer to prove that you'd be promoted when you're done and back in Nigeria - Letter of study leave - etc Self-sponsor and self-employed or own a business: - CAC doc - Business Bank Account statement - Some transaction receipts of service offered to clients - Website if you have one - Payroll, if you have employees - etc - In your SOP, discuss the potential impact of the course on your business. I applied for my study permit as a self-sponsored and business owner. The main idea is to think of what the visa officer would want to see to clear all doubts about your source of funds. It is more important to show that your first-year expenses are covered and if this were last year, I would have advised you to forget the second year. However, given the recent happenings and policy modifications, I would agree that you should get a co-sponsor or something to prove that you can cover second-year expenses. That's all and your SOP must also be very detailed. Leave nothing to chance and follow up with prayers. PlsHELPaBruvva: |
Splendid news! Congratulations to you and your family!! Yahwehsdota: |
I’m not an agent and really, no one really knows how these people operate. However, here is what I think: I don’t think you should include it. Another way to look at it is to think through all the online profiles and interactions you’ve had. Have you ever declared your MBA publicly online? If not, then consider to declaring it in your application. Ordinarily, an academic masters, which is want you’re going for, is different from an MBA, but like someone rightly said, it all depends on the VO. You don’t want to leave anything to chance and try to keep it simple. The more complicated your case, the more difficult it is for a VO to understand, the more time it takes and the higher the denial chances. For the proof of funds @frankielilbaby is correct as far as I know. Most of these guys go on student loans to finance their college education and they know it’s tough. All you have to do is show PoF for the first year tuition and living expenses. No stress. And sometimes, all these financial reasons for denial are generic and denials are often a result of a plethora of issues. Best bet is to put forward a very strong and properly indexed SOP to address the concerns a lot of people have highlighted here. Hessian: |
Only BSc, GMAT and you should also have 3 - 5years of experience. I didn’t disclose my MSc. Pristine664: |

I’ll still advise her to try. Here is why: UK is easier to get into, but expensive and difficult to maintain your status after your program. I have also been waiting and praying for charito and I think now she has enough knowledge to re-apply. Application for PGWP in the UK is expensive and if you still need an employer to sponsor you. - check here: https://www.gov.uk/graduate-visa I think anyone should atleast try twice before giving up. It’s difficult, but doable. So sorry, but don’t give up pls. Letuspraytogod:

Well done my sister. I apologize for the misconception and thanks for given some insight into your SOP. In the end, these VO people like stories that touch. Their movies don’t lie. Lol And like you rightly alluded to, na God dey run am. Congrats once again. I pray you find God’s Favour and direction in Canada. Cheers! Uzoamaka123: |
No go rewrite para letter o. This was an open letter written by many Indians with no name or any other form of identity attached to it. And it was posted on social media platforms. Letuspraytogod: |
This isn’t true. Attached is an open letter written by Indian students to the IRCC. As you can see, even the ones who applied in April through SDS were waiting as of mid - late August, while the the regular applicants have gotten theirs. Despite being pivotal to Canada’s elaborate immigration programs, I think IRCC is poorly funded and visa officers do things how they like. If not, we won’t be seeing too many cases of applicants winning appeals. For me, once you submit your application, what happens is unpredictable and there’s very little you can do, unless there are issues you HAVE to address. tlk2Prince:

Congratulations man! @bepostive11 Lol… he has weak ties to Nigeria but very strong ties to the USA. Bottom line is that he’s likely to leave Canada after his program. Or what do you think? I’ve been thinking guys.. do these emails and webforms really help? I actually think sending millions of webforms might even deter the officials from even checking mails and webforms that are truly urgent. I’m yet to find any correlation between sending multiple random webforms and updates on applications though, unless they request information directly or the applicant sends an update that’s relevant to the process such as an updated LoA after deferral or change of program/school etc. Anyways, congrats to those who have gotten their PPRs and prayers to those of us waiting. bepositive11: |

A big congratulations to you and I must confess that I like your diversification strategy and thank God that it worked well for you. Disclaimer: I'm not an agent, and neither am I a guru. This may not answer your question directly and it might sound a bit off, but I just thought to share, since some people are more focused on derailing this thread. So, let's analyze this together from a point of reason. Pay attention to the emboldened words. The primary purpose of applying to schools abroad irrespective of the country is to relocate. This, I believe is true for many, but if not for you, then my analysis could be useless to you. Your single most important service to yourself is to make a decision that is beneficial long-term and this might require cutting some short-term losses. First of all, I don't think you'll be able to use the Canada study permit while running your program in the UK, unless you defer your admission to a time you'd have completed your UK program. What this means is that you'd incur tuition and living expenses first in the UK (plus flight costs) and then, Canada. Double Expenses. Second, there is a risk of losing the Canada Visa if the school refuses to accept deferral or you're not able to complete your program in the UK in record time, or as a result of any other unforeseen circumstance. What you need to consider: How long does it take to become a Permanent Resident in the UK and Canada? I think 5 and 3 years respectively How long does it take to become a Citizen in the UK and Canada? I think 6 and 5 years respectively Will your child become a citizen if delivered when you're still a temporary resident in the UK and Canada? I think No and Yes respectively What is the process of securing PR (ILR) in the UK and Canada? For UK, you'll need an employer at some point and for Canada, it's a 100% self-driven process. Can you get a refund for your flight and Tuition? Can you afford to lose those funds? and if you do, what's the Opportunity Cost - For instance, if the UK program tuition cost is 15,000pounds and Canada Program Tuition cost is 10,000CAD per year. It might still make sense to forgo what you've paid because living cost in the UK is generally higher than in Canada (of course, there are other location-based factors to consider). If I were in your shoes, I'll go for Canada no matter the short-term losses. Again, Congratulations. This is definitely a good problem to have. Solacul: |
Let me also drop my own details here. I have been a silent reader, but its time to get more involved. June 4 Applicant - Family of 3 (My wife, daughter, and I) June 8 - Biometrics done and updated August 4 - Eligibility review started for the 3 of us (Ghost update) August 26 - Upfront medicals at Q-Life Sept 2 - Medicals uploaded (called Q-life to confirm) Sept 10 - Medicals updated to "passed" (Only mine) Still waiting for my wife and daughter's medicals to be updated to "passed" After 100s of web forms and emails, I couldn't meet up with the Sept 15th deadline for resumption, so I've deferred and now waiting for an updated LoA and guess what? it's a cohort-based MBA program at the University of Alberta, so no winter or spring intakes. I had to defer to next fall (September, 2023), but nothing spoil. I was given several options by the university, such as starting some courses online but it also has its associated risks, especially if our visa decision is delayed or refused (God forbid). Anyways guys, that's my story. Let's continue to pray and hope. God dey for us. Xclusiveman: |

tomiee:I have sent you a mail containing my contact information. You can reach whenever you want. Thanks |
tomiee:Oh okay, that's right. I applied for January entry point (winter). The department is still reviewing my application, no new information yet. Someone who has gone through this should pls come in. |
tomiee:Admission process for Manitoba? Thought their deadline is 1st of June for international students. I'm still on it, I mailed a potential supervisor twice, it's not a requirement but it was asked during the online application to provide the name of a preferred supervisor, I guess it's just to know if you know what you're doing. Is there anyone in the house who has gone through this process successfully, we need info on the steps and how long it took. Thanks |

Hi guys, I have started my online application for MSc. Sociology and Anthropology in the university of Manitoba. I had 3.71 cgpa but above 4.0 in my last 2 years and in fact above 4.5 in my last year of undergraduate study. I presented and published my undergraduate project in a conference proceedings. My application has been updated from "pending initial assessment by the faculty of graduate studies" to "Complete, under review in department". This has been the status for almost 3 weeks or more. I also mailed a potential supervisor twice and I didn't get any reply. First of, with my academic standing, do you guys think I can get the admission. Secondly, do I need to do anything right now, perhaps, mail them to ask questions? Pls advice accordingly. Sincerely, Xclusiveman. |
