This is funny. |
Truck driving should be on that list. It's a hot cake in Canada and Australia. |
So what's the purpose of this thread? Just to insult a particular tribe or to start another tribalistic war here. Even with the daily outcry of people condemning this tribal warfare you guys display here, some of you are still bent on turning Nairaland into a tribal frontal which has never been like this before. This is very bad of you OP, cos your topic portray no intellectual value or issue of discussion. Stop this and grow in love for your Fellow Nigerians cos at the end, we all are Nigerians. Mind you, I'm not Ibo, I'm a complete Yoruba man but I don't like it when I see people provoking others for no reason. |
That can't be possible in this modern day and time |
That's wrong |
Congratulations to you guys. May the good Lord be with you, now and forevermore. Amen... |
Can we see some pictures of the hotel if it has been completed please? |
He who kills by the sword, will surely die by the sword. What a heartless soul. |
Prayfortheworld:Usually, I don't reply kids in this forum, but I think I need to set your brain straight. First of all, my Mum didn't give birth to me at age 16 because she was busy shaping her future by going to school and planning on giving me a better life later on. So if your Mum and this girl got pregnant at 16, then that's your business. You think Education is just about getting a degree that you can use to get a job and make some money, you are wrong. Getting the right education will expose your mind and increase your IQ and level of intelligence and also reduce your ignorance about life. What would a 16year old teach a child in this Modern world? You need to see how most illiterate parents bring up their children, which has affected the society at large. That 16 year old girl should be in school learning and also getting awareness on how life works and getting herself exposed to the things that will help her raise a child in the future in the proper way. So if having sex outside Marriage at the age of 16 and getting pregnant is a good thing to you, then you my friend is another failure that need life education. I won't reply you again cos your level of thinking is way below mine. SHALOM |
This war should end. No profit from it at all. |
These guys are real terrorists. They hide weapons just about everywhere. The other day, it was a missile, buried in a school playground. |
Very barbaric act |
And you have finally destroyed your future and about to bring an innocent child into this world with this mentality of yours. Kudos , u will understand better in 3-5 years from now. |
Rest well, Great Soul. |
China on Friday sentenced the former president of one of its biggest state-owned banks to life in prison for bribery, state media reported, as a campaign against corruption sweeps through the country’s financial sector. Sun Deshun, the onetime chief of China Citic Bank, was ruled by a court in eastern Shandong province to have illegally received property valued at 980 million yuan ($134 million) over 16 years, state broadcaster CCTV reported. “The circumstances of the crime were particularly serious, and their social impacts were particularly bad, causing the interests of the country and the people to suffer particularly heavy losses”, the court ruled, according to CCTV. A judge sentenced Sun to death with reprieve, a punishment that is typically commuted to life imprisonment after two years. China’s President Xi Jinping has waged a sweeping campaign against deep-seated official corruption since coming to power a decade ago. Proponents say the policy promotes clean governance, while critics say it helps Xi purge political rivals. Last week, the ruling Communist Party said it had launched a corruption investigation into Zhang Hongli, the former vice chief of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. And the country’s top prosecutor last month formally arrested former Bank of China chairman Liu Lian’ge following a months-long graft probe. Xi last month chaired a rare financial meeting aimed at “guarding against and resolving risks” in the sector. The National Financial Work Conference also stressed the need to “strengthen financial supervision… and promote finance with Chinese characteristics”. China has charted an uncertain recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic as weak consumption and a slow-motion housing crisis weigh on growth. https://guardian.ng/news/chinese-former-bank-chief-given-life-in-prison-for-bribery/ |

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, electorates will head to the polls in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa to vote for their choice of candidates. Ahead of the polls, Jonathan reiterated that a politician’s ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. The former Bayelsa State governor said everyone involved in the elections must do everything possible not to jeopardize the peace and stability in the country. “As citizens of voting age in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States go to the polls for governorship election tomorrow, I urge all electorates and politicians to avoid violence and conduct themselves in a peaceful and lawful manner,” he wrote on his X handle. “Let us refrain from all activities that will jeopardize the collective peace and stability of our states and our country. “A man who means well for his people would not recruit thugs to maim and kill the very people he wants to govern. “Let me reiterate that nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any citizen. Therefore, let us resist the temptation and inducements that may be deployed as agents of destruction.“ Jonathan said for democracy to endure and be impactful, the country must ensure that the leadership recruitment process, especially elections, are credible, transparent, fair and peaceful. A Russian court has upheld a six-year prison sentence against a woman it said tried to set fire to a military aid collection point, state media reported Friday, citing the Russian Security Service (FSB). Investigators alleged that Valerya Zotova, 20, tried to set fire to a collection point in the central Yaroslavl region, acting on the behest of a Ukrainian solider. Her mother and supporters have rejected that claim, and said she was duped by the FSB. Thousands of Russians have been detained for protesting Russia’s large-scale military campaign against Ukraine and authorities have handed out long jail terms to those accused of attacking enlistment offices. Local security services said Zotova was “involved in an attempt to commit a terrorist act,” state-run news agency RIA reported. She “was sentenced to a term of six years in a general prison colony,” they added, alleging that she had planned the attack working alongside a Ukrainian serviceman. Zotova was first sentenced in June, the independent Novaya Gazeta outlet reported, and the verdict was upheld in a hearing on Wednesday, state media reported. The Zona Solidarnosti non-governmental organisation said Zotova could have been set up in a targeted operation for her opposition to Russia’s actions in Ukraine. FSB “agents actively encouraged the girl to commit arson against an aid collection point for the Russian military,” it said. Zotova’s mother, Svetlana Zotova, has also said her daughter was duped into the plot by an FSB agent posing as a Ukrainian. Most of Russia’s high-profile opposition figures have either been jailed by the Kremlin or fled the country. Svetlana Zotova is also facing up to 10 years in jail on charges of “inciting extremism and terrorism” over alleged pro-Ukraine posts on social media. In an interview with the independent Bereg news site, she said both she and her daughter oppose Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine. “If Lera doesn’t like something, she will say it. She is like me,” she said, using a short version of her daughter’s name. “I will go to court with my head held high,” she added https://guardian.ng/news/world/europe/russia-jails-woman-for-trying-to-set-fire-to-army-aid-collection-point/

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has revealed that the nation’s federation account received N14.38 trillion between 2020 and 2021. The Executive Secretary of NEITI, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, made this announcement during the unveiling of the 2020-2021 NEITI Fiscal Allocation and Statutory Disbursement (FASD) Industry report, yesterday. In a breakdown of the revenue remittance to the federation account, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) remitted a total of N1.55 trillion, representing 10 per cent of the total remitted to the federation account during the period under review. The report further showed that the now-defunct Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), which has been unbundled into the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), remitted a total of N2.7 billion, representing 18.83 per cent of the total revenue remitted to FAAC during the period. Additionally, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) remitted a total of N2.13 trillion, solid minerals remitted N13.3 billion, non-minerals N4.8 trillion, VAT remitted N3.17 trillion, while CIT, NCS, and other taxes remitted N2.6 trillion, N2.02 trillion, and N85.2 billion respectively. During the assessed period, the expenditure of N2.41 trillion by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on projects, all labeled as emergencies, raised serious concerns about transparency, accountability, excessive costs, project planning, and execution processes. The report stated that 97.71 per cent of the expenditure was on capital projects and 2.29 per cent on recurrent expenses. Completed projects include roads (N5.15 billion) and electricity (N1.42 billion), while ongoing projects include roads (N5.27 billion) and buildings (N5.27 billion). NEITI, observing that all NDDC projects were classified as emergencies, recommended urgent audits on these projects to address the lack of adherence to the laid-down principles of project execution. NDDC, as one of the benefiting agencies, received N355.27 billion as direct disbursements as required by law from FAAC. The report showed that this sum was received through the direct deduction of 15 per cent of the total monthly statutory allocations due to member states, remittances of 50 per cent of all monies due to member states from the ecological fund, and three percent of the total annual budget of oil companies for providing lasting solutions to the socio-economic difficulties of the Niger Delta region. Further, the report showed that the Federal Government’s contribution to NDDC was N39.82 billion and N69.68 billion in 2020 and 2021 respectively, totaling N109.45 billion, representing 30.79 per cent of the N355.52 billion it received as allocation during the period under review. NEITI’s research findings indicated that most of the 36 states heavily rely solely on FAAC allocations, posing a risk to their financial stability. This pattern, it said, hampers progress in economic diversification, debt reduction, and citizen-oriented projects and brings deviation from the intended agenda. https://guardian.ng/business-services/neiti-reveals-federation-account-received-n14-4tr-in-two-years/
