Not sure China will fall for that, The China that i know is much more smarter than that.
Bakosokoto:
Who are those still buying TB?
Maybe PFA or politicians with stolen loot.
I'm sure this govt don't even want to borrow money they will pay back, more reason they are happy to run to China to borrow. Deep down they know it won't be paid back.
If you doubt me ask Rotimi Amaechi.
By the way, PFA are doing well. Stanbic pension have done over 10% YTD,

Nigeria governance and economy is programmed in a way that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
ahiboilandgas:
FDI wanting to invest in Malls in Nigeria to tap into the middle class will surely have a rethink ....with the growing poverty in Nigeria malls are seen as targets......there is long term repercussion going forward ...fdi need stability and security to invest ..we might only be having short term fpi which rearly creates Jobs .any legimate thing that would get our people engage to reduce the poverty should be priority...when there are no more malls to loot the next targets will be........as the government have a big blame for providing the enabling environment for tout breeding and poor leadership ,parent have also failed in proper parenting in large numbers....

At Ore-Benin highway, Customs withheld my vehicle customs papers several times which was valid and complete because "i must do Christmas for them" or there statement will be like "how can you have this fine car and not give us something"
I found out that they will not let go most times that i insist that i have no money with me. All this is not right,We need a total reform!
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 3:34am On Oct 22, 2020
In my second encounter with them at Benin-Asaba highway, immediately they started the harrasment i mentioned name of someone who is very powerful in Nigeria and show them my whatsaap conversation with him..this made them to let me go quickly..now what will happen to someone who knows nobody..they will be harrased, intimidated, molested, extorted or maybe killed. This is what many Nigerians face daily in the hands of uniform men in Nigeria.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi:
They took 52k in my wallet and left me with only 500 Niara at Asaba and i was going to Lagos, my offence was ridding a clean car and having tinted glass with original tinted permit which they claimed was fake, they also claimed that smiliar car was used to kidnap a government official in the neigbouring state the previous day, this is how they put allegation on you to make sure they apply maximum extortion.
Ikjosh04:
It seems you and your cohorts running your mouth like an open running tap don't understand what Police/Sars brutality is?

Sometime around last year, i got extorted of 60k by this men in black out of the 80k available balance in my account. This is just one out of so many harassment I have gotten and what did I do? Nothing beside looking good.

This experience wasn't funny and I was traumatized.

The 80k I had then was supposed to be used for my final year research and design project.

I know the police station division and if I see those set of police I am sure I'll be able to recall one or two of their faces and if I was in presently in the state I schooled, believe me you when I say I'll make an attempt with other youths to burn down that police station units that extorted me.

The trauma and anger the victims get when extorted by Sars cannot be completely described by words especially when its your first time you're getting harassed.

Lots of my school mate has slept in cell even during exam period for doing nothing other than having no money to bribe them because they look good.

It got to a point my school CSO and Sug president had to go to some of this station to know exactly what is their problem.

So when I say the youths has endured this trauma for a long time and the killings of peaceful protesters on Tuesday brought out that rage that was already at the peak looking for an ignition to make it explode.

The only reason our fight will be in vain is, if police brutality is not put to an end and the government in all levels is not restructure.

It's past 24hrs the mayhem at lekki occurred and it is so disheartening that Buhari is yet to address the nation and most importantly the youth.

The west have given up on Nigeria long time ago, not surprised!
Nigsrdumb:
Anyone notice how quiet the west is about the protests, save a few irrelevant media like bbc Africa...

Make una wake up oh.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 3:00am On Oct 15, 2020
Most middle class and rich Nigerians are self centered, i understand one thing about those who are against this protest..it's all about "my business" "my work" "my investments" e.t.c.

Things will definately change in Nigeria once most people start to understand that "an injsutice to one is an injustice to all"
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 2:50am On Oct 15, 2020
This mentality is why Nigeria is where it is today.
9jatriot:
Apparently, some of you just want anarchy.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi:
Please give me the link to donate, some Nigerians that think they can afford three square meals will think that they have arrived not minding that there are millions out there who can barely afford a plate of food, we export crude oil and import the finished product..impunities everywhere..Change is long overdue in Nigeria!!
Olaide1295:
Nigerians donated to the cause. Not any foreign body, no propaganda please.
I personally donated to the cause.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 5:03am On Oct 14, 2020
I was a victim of Sars twice, they should be scrapped and banned forever, they are inhumane and evil.

If you ever meet the ones in Benin-Asaba high way and the ones at Asaba-Onitsha highway you will understand what im talking about.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 3:21am On Oct 14, 2020
Revolution is not bad for Nigeria looking at the way things are going there, is it not a shame that we don't have constant electricity but to mention a few?
Iogobenz:
I don't like oppression, I am very rational.

Just see the demands you are putting up there?what government does that?Allow the masses to hold them to ransom?
Hell nah bruv.
1)SARS had been ended.
2)5 point demand has been agreed.
What else?
These jobless fùcktards just want anarchy and a revolution, its very obvious to any smart person.
It's high time to give the orders smiley

Thanks for your input and the wise advise, the bolded is on point, infact the capital appreciation on apartments i bought here few years ago just a way for my kids to have something to fall back on incase of eventualities keep appreciating and the value intact...sometimes i wish i knew earlier what i have learnt from this forum..what Naira devaluation have chopped from the profits we repatriated to Nigeria is heart breaking... wish i had used atleast half of the funds to acquire properties here..but anyways life continues
emmanuelewumi:
Not bad oo, good for diversification and store of value.

Real Estate is illiquid and it is a good way for people who don't have discipline to store value.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 12:25pm On Oct 10, 2020
Not China, I'll prefer not to mention the country for personal reasons, as someone who have lived here for a very long time and into manufacturing my contact in the real estate is 100% genuine, what is your take on acquiring a property that have the chance of 100% capital appreciation within 5 years?
emmanuelewumi:
You are married to a Chinese?

Land is fixed but human population is increasing, so real estate is not bad if it is genuine
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 11:38am On Oct 10, 2020
I think so
emmanuelewumi:
That is about 15% annual appreciation
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 11:32am On Oct 10, 2020
It is not actually in Nigeria..the land is in my country of residence, I have local friends here who are into real estate. They said 100% capital appreciation in 5years is very possible, also the capital of a land my mother inlaw bought 4years ago has appreciated 140% as of today..so i'm thinking of keying into this since most investments in Nigeria now is on a single digit interest (property purcahse here and all the paper works is straight forward..no omoniles and co)

My mother inlaw purchased her land equivalent to USD17,300.

emmanuelewumi:
It is possible, but not guaranteed.

Where is the land located? What is the price of land in the area? What type of development is going on in the area?
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 10:49am On Oct 10, 2020
Yes
emmanuelewumi:
Are you talking about capital appreciation of 100% in 5 years?
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 10:10am On Oct 10, 2020
@Ahib do you think a land that yield 100% interest in 5years is a good deal?
ahiboilandgas:

InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 7:39am On Oct 08, 2020
You will have a good life if you are rich in Nigeria but you will have a better life if you are rich abroad.

Most Nigerians live in suffering and smilling mentality!
DexterousOne:
Huh?

Hahahahahahahaha cheesy grin cheesy grin

Hahahahahahahaha grin cheesy
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi:
They believed him because most Nigerians are emotional, they will rather be emotional instead of facing the fact.
DexterousOne:
Hahahahaha

But to be truthful

The initial article that prompted that response from that person was poorly written, filled with ignorance and should not have circulated as much

Even PPP that economists try to use to even the purchasing differences of different countries show that Nigerias own is abysmal.

So its surprising to see someone type in that manner

And what's worse is that many believe him
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 1:42pm On Sep 28, 2020
You are even using China and HK which is equal to the so called west (Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hk is more beautiful than many cities in the so called west), countries like Malaysia, Thailand and even Vietnam are light years away from Nigeria.
DexterousOne:
Wait !
I missed something

Did you say the West (I'll add china and HK and their likes) are not light years away from Nigeria?

Huh?
Hahahahahahaha
I see what is the issue with you though

You are too patriotic grin cheesy
You place Nigeria on one pedestal like that tongue

A country that majority of the people still defecate in public, majority cannot boast of potable water, and cannot even proffer simple solutions to their problems

That is who is not light years behind the advanced nations of the world?

Point to one ground breaking research that has come out here that influenced the world in a positive way...

When we were in the throes of the pandemic

Other countries entered the race into being who will be the first to come up with a solution

Africa and Nigeria was waiting for who will give them the vaccine cheesy grin

And the country is not ashamed of itself undecided

They are FAR AHEAD OF US
It's hard to accept
But that's the truth
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 1:34pm On Sep 28, 2020
Give details on the bolded please.
Phylife:
I have been silently following your arguments and counter-arguments about how backward the third world is compared to the first and second. They're all sound and verified, but I will be quick to lend a voice too that just as the saying in the Holy Bible depicted that "the poor will always be in your midst", so it is with countries - some rich and some poor - will always be.

History equally supports my stand of using that above saying.

How? You would ask.

From time immemorial, we have read of the rise and decline of kingdoms, wealthy nations [superpowers] such as Babylonia, Roman Empire, Mongol Empire, British Empire, Soviet Union, United States of America and currently the Communist China and how they leveraged on poor or poorer nations to drive their development [national interest at play]. Go and read Walter Rodney's classic "How Europe Under-developed Africa and you may get my drift.

The bottomline is that all nations cannot and can never be at par: the sub-structure was never designed like that that all nations must be equal [Animal Farm - George Orwell]. Time and season is a major factor I think I should quickly add to it.

My Ahib... Let NASS and Presidency and the likes cut down the cost of governance... They all should start from their individual sef... Let them show sincerity in governance.. and I tell you everyone will align.... it's a mindset... Their sincerity will including cutting there exonbetant allowances, frown against corruption (making it punishableand enforcement), investing in education and the likes

The greed began from them and if nigerians involve in illicit act should stop... It must begin with these leaders....

They are the bane of corruption...
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 2:33pm On Sep 23, 2020
Do you know that America still jail her citizen 100 years because of corruption, when was the last time someone was jailed 10years in Nigeria because of corruption?

What was the consequence after be looted the money, give Norwegians, Americans, Brits the same soft hand they will do more than that. That is where the government comes in, in a country that works nobody is ever bigger than the government..it is only in a country like Nigeria you will hear this kind of stories and excuses why the person that bypass his meter and the accomplice cannot be tamed due to government failure.
ahiboilandgas:
the nepa offical are the once doing by pass for people for a fee ...then nepa offiials come for inspection if caught they will collect their share ....who wil enforce this Ghanaians abi.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 2:07pm On Sep 23, 2020
What is the consequence for those who bypass their meter? Like someone said here it is not the responsibility of that boy selling gala in the traffic to go after those who bypass their meter. In my country of residency bypassing or tampering with your meter attracts 7 years imprisonment without fine!
awesomeJ:
our folks don vex you!

people can just be really funny.

You bypass meter and still wonder why power is epileptic. Funny.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 1:59pm On Sep 23, 2020
It clearly shows that you are living in a country that works from the way you reason, i have always maintain that Nigerians are good people rather the government is the problem, when there are no consequences people will always be emboldened to do illegal things.
Dum20:
In Saudi Arabia, there are consequences for smuggling. Deterants are in place.

In Nigeria are there consequences for smuggling? Who is supposed to ensure there are consequences?

The young men hustling in alabal market and other markets, they young boys and girls working there asses off in banks and other countries, the farmers in their farms? Is it the young boys and girls in traffic selling gala? or young boys and girls in schools studying and hoping for a better future?

Who is responsible?

Dont castigate nigerians please

I am upset because i believe i should have converted more, i will not give more details so the jealousy ones will not feel more threatened, the bolded is true.
rmx:
Don’t see why you are too upset , you have hedged some or most of your funds ,you should count yourself lucky , what of those that dint change any , Just learn from this and know how to be better with the next crisis grin cheesy

For me apart from the hedging I did in $ and inputs much earlier in the year , I did a lot of plays in the stock market when it crashed March ending , just existed over the last 2 weeks with 35 to 55 % gain , beaten devaluation with those funds also ,also doing some plays in commercial properties . Wont indicate amounts involved in my plays , realized not many people can handle figures here . it’s not compulsory we all partake in economic downturn, recession or devaluation With proper planning . We learn everyday

I did it through First bank private banking, if you bank with First Bank then tell them to introduce you to their private banking department..they should be able to help you invest in Commercial Paper.
