Thank you @amba2017,this make alot of sense especially the number 2. Please how much % do you think we should pay him on every profit made? The consultant have already advised that we run the farm as your number 3 stated, our target is to grow 140k fishes every four months this is the reason we will start with 35k then add 35k every month (we will continue to repeat this), he said with this we will have different size of fish to sell on daily basis. N.B: since he will be the one to build the farm, should we pay him for this or must we start to pay him from profit earned when the farm start functioning?amba2017: (1) make sure you have good financial muscle to carry the farm. to feed 35k fishes is not a joke lol. (2) Do not agree to be paying the consultant rather negotiate on percentage of every gain made. by doing this he will put in his best in the project. (3) the best way to excel in the business is by setting up your farms in barges such that you will be selling every month or at 2 weeks interval. it will help you reduce the salary impact on the farm. |

Thanks for your advise, at the bolded.. is starting with 35k fish and adding 35k every month within a period of 4months too big, how about if there is an experienced farmer on ground to manage the farm and enough worker to run it? Fish4wealth: I will take it from where @ waleyp stopped....
First, know that the goal of this thread is to assist catfish farmers in every areas possible to succeed either as a newbie or practicing farmer. And if you go through the pages at inception, the likes of Robonski and others have virtually contributed immensely.
If anyone fails, frankly speaking, such should have himself/herself to blame.
I say it raw as it is......if you have a consultant and he advised you to start your first adventure this big....something is wrong......
If you had read my post here, one striking thing is farmers calling for buyers..... *Do you have your own buyers? *What is the demand for catfish in Anambra? *How many farms are fully operational there? *What's the market size of catfish there? *Who are your competitors..... *What feed is your consultant recommending.. *Where would you get your feeds for and its cost implications...
There are hundred and one questions your consultant should provide for you before we hear stories that touches and some failed inexperienced, acclaimed Ratfish farmer will come here again to spray nonsense
Candid professional advise, irrespective of your consultant profile, let him manage a small scale first for you to the point of sales.
The result will determine your next line of action.
And their are ways to do such...... Wish you best of luck

Thank you for the advise waleyp, this is duly noted. waleyp: Thank you very much... Why not? If you have a good consultant that would be fine, but your consultant wouldn't be available all the time you know? And his services will always be paid for every time, you can only make use of the experienced consultants for the starts so as to have knowledge of what you are about to do, and all that you will need, that's why you will need a business plan...you can't just start without a business plan. Know how much you wanna start up with and your consultant will be the one to work on that. You will need an experienced fish farmer to handle the job. Someone that would be on ground all the time. You know a consultant owns his farm and he wouldn't be on ground. Your capital? The start is just the hard part because you will be getting everything new, like getting the structures, construction of ponds and all that. After all that there wouldn't be much capital needed unless you want to expand your business (farm) and another secret is if you wanna get more profits, you should be able to manufacture your fish feeds (local feed) by yourself..and all that but hey there must be a very well detailed business plan before you commence. Thank you |

Yes at the bolded, since you are into this field is it advisable to go into it with the help of an experienced consultant? How about our capital..do you think this business will suck up our capital even if well managed?..this is our main concern. waleyp: Okay hmmmm I don't even know what to say now, but if you want to start on a large scale then you will need the help of an experienced fish farmer,a daily feed management, water management should be encouraged. Do you have a structured plan already? Budget and all that |

Thank you for your response waleyp, you are right to an extent that i'm suppose to ask our consultant, the truth is that our consultant have answered most of the questions but i want to have a due deligence before going into the business, this is my main reason seeking advise from the gurus here. At the bolded why is it so? Location of the farm will be in Anambra. Thank you all in advance for all your inputs. waleyp: Thank you for commenting, well its good to start on a big scale, but you already stated that you have a consultant already and he is managing five big farms too, why not ask him whatever you want to know. Because what I will say might be different from his. I would have told you that we can help you set it up because my mentor has been in business for more than 15years. So since you have a consultant maybe you should talk to him. Your location please? |

Pls what do you think of someone who wants to do fish farming in a large scale, we plan to build the farm to standard like building water treatment for the ponds, our farm will be located near a river for the waste, we will have 2 indutrial borehole and industrial power generator for the farm, most of our fish will be smoked while few will be sold to restaurants/hotels/market women,we plan to start with 35k fish but to increase to 140k in 4 months. A consultant who has been into fish farming and currenlty managing 5 big farms will handle this project. All your advise will be much appreciated. NB: We want to start with fish first but will also add brolier farming in a large scale as time goes on. CC: Everybody. waleyp: That's good 500 fishes is a good way to start. Find a mentor |

@Boyhood thanks for sharing this, i saw my mother's name there but right now she is sick and cannot almost remember anything, please how can we rocover her dividends? N.B: we can still drive her to the bank if they need to see her. Boyhood: *Unregistered Investors For E-Dividend Payment*
Unclaimed dividends increased from N109.1 billion in Devember 2016 to N130 billion in December 219 (SEC, 2020)
You can however search if you or your loved ones have unclaimed dividends using Security and Exchange Commission Portal and claim your dividends with these steps.
Step 1: Input your first name and last name into this link https:///exQBBrd to get a list of your shares from SEC. This will give you a screenshot of all the companies you have shares in, and the registrars in charge.
*Note:* if you have changed your name due to marriage or other reasons, search with your previous name and also try different format of name e.g those with prefixes e.g 'Olu', 'Oluwa' etc
Step 2: Take note of your registrar’s name. A registrar, is the company that keeps the shareholder’s details for other companies. So, your shares could have data with different registrars.
Step 3: Download and fill your registrar’s form which is beside the company's name on the website.
Step 4: Submit your form. Some companies require you to go to your bank and get a bankers confirmation, so they can initiate the e-dividend form for you.
Once this is done, your account will be credited automatically with the e-dividend going forward.

Her tenancy expires today, infact she is coming up with another request this evening that we should give her one extra month to move out making it 3months in total since she will write an undertaken. The agent managing the house also said that citizen's mediation center will still ask us to grant her request if she wants to stay 3 months,so he advised we ask her to write an undertaken and grant her 3months request to avoid troubles. MrMcJay: Has her present tenancy expired or it is yet to expire?
If the property is in Lagos and her tenancy is expired, she is not entitled to the statutory 6 months quit notice. All she's entitled to is 7 days Owner's Intention to recover premises. |

The whole thing is just tiring when somebody living in a house built with your hard earned money is dictating to you, please search and share at the bolded. ojesymsym: Why does it seem like tenancy laws are made to protect tenants. I heard 2 landlords sharing notes and one thing they said that struck me was that having a tenant is like getting married, they are very gentle and humble when begging for the house, but once inside you see their true color. I also think I have read somewhere that the quit notice law has two parts, but most people only know the part that favors the tenant, that it also protects the landlord but people just stop at the first part. I'd have to search for it

According to the agent that manages the house, he said that Nigerian law favours the tenanats, now that she is not ready to move out..assuming we give her a quit notice the quit notice will elapse in the next 3 months according to the Nigerian law, so if we give her quit notice now it means we are offering her 3 months free rent (extra 1 month from her initial request). I think this is the reason she didn't accept to pay for the extra 2 months but rather yelling we should give her quit notice if we cannot accept her request, you see how troublesome she is? dejiotus: But why reward bad behaviour with free rent since her legal tenancy is expiring tomorrow. Yes, while I will advise that the requested two months is granted to the difficult lady tenant for the sake of peace, she should pay for those two months as well. She is not entitled to any free lunch from her landlord now. Tenants should be made aware in very clear terms that extention of tenancy in whatever disguise should not equate to free rent. |

Thank you for this, this is a lady moving out because other tenants are not in good term with her do to her bad behaviours, instead of her to jejely move out now she is requesting for an extra two months, when the agent tried to persuade her to pay for the two months she started using foul language that she will never do that instead we should serve her a quit notice. Some people are just very wicked and troublesome in Nigeria that will make you to think if they are really human! MrMcJay: You can grant her request. But to ensure no games, you can ask her to write something like.
I ______ hereby undertake that in consideration of the landlord forfeiting 2 months rent for the aforedescribed property, I hereby undertake to to vacate the __bedroom apartment located at ___.
In further consideration of the ___, I further undertake to forfeit and forgo all legal and equitable rights to tenancy and possession held by me over the property and covenant that I be be be held liable for fraudulent misrepresentation and criminal proceedings upon my failure to vacate and give up my possession of the aforedescribed property on the covenanted date.

Chief what you are saying is correct but tone down a lil bit. Nice one tomati seller, at the bolded don't you think it will make the prices of goods to increase which will force CBN to intervene Theconglomerate: No one can give an exact answer to this,sad truth. But then,its like the CBN is bent on doing a controlled float of her currency. Even if oil hits 100 dollars,if the CBN don't intervene in the fx markets,nothing will happen to currency pricing and a lot of things are pointing to the fact that Nigeria is getting tired of paying subsidy on its currency in the name of intervention. Reasons why I think the CBN and Buhari is tired of interventions;
1)MPC held yesterday in a critical time as this for fx and no one talked about any intervention on it,all they did was reduce lending rate(naira power play).
2)CBN said some weeks back that it will supply fx to BDCs only for "strategic imports".This is a very big word and can mean a lot of things.
3)CBN called on manufacturers to beef up their activities and promised to supply fx for imports of raw material and machinery, meaning the days of subsidised dollars for the imports of just about anything is over. If you want to import rubbish,be ready to pay the price of fx gotten via very hard means And the importers of general merchandise won't stop business because CBN no give them dollar,so they will turn to black market and overheat it,keeping the price of fx in the 400s. Well, let's see.... |

Check Naira rate to dollar for the last 14years, you will find out that it is guaranteed that someone who invested in $ will definately come out better. unite4real: Read my post again where I said dollar may come out better. It's just not a guarantee that it will |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by XiaoLi: 7:22am On May 29, 2020 |
Someone who invested $ will also make profit and compound. unite4real: The bond is guaranteed while the dollar exchange rate is speculation. You do not try to mix the two in this case.
You have also assumed that the proceeds from sukuk is kept in a safe every 6 months and waiting to pile them up for 7 years. Investors do not think this way. They will reinvest the proceeds in other portfolios or income generators so as to compound it. Similarly, you also need to invest the dollar too and see what happens in 7 years. Dollar may come out better and if the naira proceed goes into some juicy stocks that happen to out perform better than expected, then it will be another story. but my argument is that your mode of comparison is not proper |

Now that countries are easing the lockdown,do you think crude price will remain thesame which will make Naira to remian in 400s? Theconglomerate: I doubt if this will happen though. Rates dropped between yesterday and today because MPC held today so speculators and BDCs operators were not buying or were skeptical. So till we know what was decided in the meeting today we won't know for sure. CBN also said it will sell forex to BDCs only for "strategic imports". Sounds like a very complicated way of saying we will only release very minimal amount of dollars that still will have very minimal effect on fx pricing. It's like dollar in the 400s is the new reality, hard truth. But its good as it will help Nigeria boost local productivity as imported goods will become too expensive for the masses. |
