I beg to disagree. All election on the same day is preferable as it will eliminate the bandwagon effect of everyone voting for the Government at the Centre in subsequent elections as we had before.

My reason for opposing it is to prevent the bandwagon effect!
For example, many LP candidates who got elected because of bandwagon effect have defected
because they hold no allegiance to the party.
Some of them were even crooks but voters didn't care, they just thumb-printed for LP.

Candidates should be voted based on their own personality and not hiding under party to win.

It means opposition parties can be chairman of local government areas in Nigeria.

No, it means whichever party won the state will also sweep the local government.
If INEC were to take over the elections for local governments and they are held separately,
there will no longer be one party winning all. The current issue is because the state
government is responsible for conducting the elections.

Imagine if the last elections were conducted the same day, even Sanwo Olu may not be the Governor today.

This is exactly the bandwagon effect!
In such context, wouldn't you want to know if the people hate Sanwo Olu or he was just a victim of Tinubu's circumstance?

Same day actually favors the incumbent president because all the governors, senators and local government on the same
party will have no choice but to work for their party even if they don't like the federal candidates or else they will lose.

If the 2023 election were held separately, there is a very high chance Tinubu would have lost because some APC assembly
members won't mobilize for him because they know it won't affect them.

Separate elections also discourage vote buying.
A party that wants to buy votes will have to budget for president, governorship, national assembly and state assembly elections.

Should the bill pass, it will be nearly impossible for an incumbent to win.

Which mumu proposed this bill?
If possible, all different elections should be held on different days with the presidential held last.
Because with the education level of the average voter, they will
end up voting for who they don't want.

With one day voting, candidates who are unfit on their own recognition will end up winning based on the
popularity of the president or governor.

Every governor has a case to answer!
If the bills pass, all opposition governors will be removed with trumped up charges and
ask to defend themselves before they can face governance especially close to election time.
With such arrangement, some governors will spend the entire four years in court given
our slow judiciary.
