If you are in Toronto, you can try downloading triplinx app or you can just visit the website to plan your trip. I found out that it's more accurate than Google maps and it also tells you how much each trip will cost.
Thanks. I already have citymapper and tranzit. It's to figure it out.

Hi, unfortunately because of strict SLAs that transit operators have, they wont stop for you once the doors are shut and/or they are in drive procedure to the next scheduled stop, operative word being 'scheduled'. Even if the bus is empty, the driver is obligated to stick to schedule/procedure or risk work demerits points on his record for stopping for you. The exceptions are trafiic incidents which they have to radio in to their base. Some busybody around who is not even on the bus may report him to his transit service for stopping outside schedule so, we learn to always arrive at the bus stop earlier than we need to be and retain some of our old Oshodi Oke bus jogging/hopping skills to catch up smiley
Wow. O boy no be small matter be this. Even if I'm running to the bus stop and the bus didn't stop at the bus stop because no one on the bus requested a stop? Found out that I had to wait 20 to 30 mins for the next bus out in the cold. Today was hellish. Kept arriving just as the bus was pulling out and I was with my toddler. The wind today was something else.
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by XX01(f): 5:55pm On Mar 09, 2018
Please, how do you stop a bus when you are running to the bus stop but not yet there. Can you flag it down? I've missed my connecting bus because Google maps 4 mins walk is faster than my walk. I get there just as the bus is pulling away or not even stopping at all.

I don't think you can get a flu shot without OHIP. Unless you wanna pay out of pocket, then you can probably ask if they have that option available. I may be wrong though.
I don't mind paying out of pocket but can't see anywhere to get. They keep asking for health card and I don't have. Won't even have for the next 2 months. But the weather Sha. I'm afraid that the kids will get sick. I had mine last in 2016.

I also got the same PPR mail, well, I observed that one can send to the nearest VAC in section 1 (preferred). so i sent to Ghana immigration office.
secondly, I noticed that It is a major requirement to send your package through aramex to dubai officeand to best of my knowledge, they are not in Abuja cos that is where i reside.

anyways just sent mine today and hoping for a positive outcome.
Send a CSE to CIC that you would prefer Accra VO.

I am also in this fix... my passport is less than 12 months but not at the 6months mark that makes it eligible for replacement.

Meanwhile make una no vex o..wat is ADR
As long as it's more than 6 months, go ahead and use it. Once you get a new one, send a CSE, Case Specific Enquiry to give them the new info.

ADR, Additional Document Request.

For those who sent their passports(after PPR) via VFS, kindly assist so can advise my friend properly

1. Is it truly cheaper than DHL service (cost wise) for a single passport
2. Can someone go and send & pick up the passport on her behalf?
3. Would she need to give the sender/proxy any consent/authorization to send & pick at VFS
4. How long did it take for VFS to return your passport

Thank you
See an earlier post I made. I don't know about the authorisation letter. You can ask from them later.

VFS is 12,500 per person's passport but it's a one-off payment. DHL is about N19k to send and 21k to receive regardless of how many passports are to be sent. So, for a family of 5, DHL would be cheaper but VFS would be cheaper for a family of 2. VFS is also a little slower than DHL.

Speed of processing depends on the Accra office. Mine took 5 weeks, some took 2 weeks. Delivery is about 2 to 5 days.

Talking about multicultural. My kids are the only black kids in their respective classes. In this area, I see more Chinese, Asian than Blacks. However, my kids love their school. It's way easier than Naija schools, plenty play and the kids are just too friendly. After only 2 days, I could see the difference. Their play is more gentle and they talk through their issues rather than fighting/yabbing themselves.
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by XX01(f):
Thanks guys.

@Delta007, I understand your views. I signed based on recommendation. It was my husband's friend that was exiting the lease and he told us it's a very good and central location which we've seen for ourselves. Good schools around and other conveniences. It's a 6 month lease but I will be okay to renew the lease at its expiration. My landlord drops and picks my kids from school since his kids attend same school. Just a few kinks which is to be expected.

Before signing, we also saw pictures of inside the house and used Google maps. Having an address before landing really helped us. And the price is very good. Just that we are more people in my family than my husband's friend. I'm ok with the decision. There are some of our friends that have done same. Because it's difficult to find a house with no employment history or credit score.

I'm writing all of these so that people who want to get a lease before hand can know what's up.

My Family's Landing Experience

We flew Ethiopian Airlines much to my chagrin but the flight wasn't so bad. We spent over an hr trying to check in as we were well overweight. After dropping over 10kg, we finally boarded.

Flight wasn't too bad but the food was difficult to eat. My kids didn't even bother. They just drank plenty juice and watched movies. No bassinet, so I carried my baby in my arms. Met some PR people, one from Sudan another from Guinea. They explained the process to us and we exchanged numbers. Told us that we landed at the best time as the weather was very warm.

Finally landed. We made sure we were amongst the last. When we got to the line, they moved families with children forward. Met some other COPR people, 2 other Nigerians and some other countries. Found out we knew 1 of the families. One was going to Calgary whilst the other was Halifax. We were the only ones in Toronto.

Went to another place for the landing formalities. Took our documents and told us to wait. Once done, they explained how to renew our PR and what we needed. Since we had a permanent address, everything went smoothly. From there, went for SIN. Near there was where they were doing those CBA interviews we watch on TV. Then went to Customs. Those ones were not interested in too much talk. We didn't even know exactly how much we were declaring and they said it's fine. They will just put 10k each. Went for goods to follow and they gave me a form to go home and fill as the kids were becoming hyper.

Got someone to carry our plenty loads. Used the ATM there so that we don't change at airport rate. The guy took us to limo service. I kept saying there was some other service but my husband was already tired of the kids tantrums and booked 2 SUVs for $60 each that took us home. At home, met with the landlord, signed the lease and then went to a hotel. Next day, bought furniture, enrolled kids in school and then went home to set up the furniture. That was a serious task. Next day, went shopping and spent a good part of our POF. Leased a car for 3 weeks with the help of a friend and now looking to buy a car.

So far, it's been warm but now getting chilly. No matter how it goes, I know I didn't make a mistake leaving my cushy job for the unknown. I'm more than capable. Next is to register for those post settlement agencies Abi na mentoring schemes so that I can look for a job. Still looking for a daycare.

URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED!!!
My family friend, who is a widow with two children, she lost her husband 6 years ago, she remarried before landing in Canada (she went to registry just a week before she landed), but she didn't update her information online that she has remarried. So when she landed, they asked her if she remarried and she said yes and brought out the wedding certificate. They seized her documents from her and asked her to come back today..it was there they told her it was misrepresentation and why didn't she update her status, and so they asked her to go back to Nigeria or bring her lawyer by tommorrow...please what can she do?
She should go with her lawyer and tell them why she lied. She had ample opportunity to update her info but she never did so.

Hello everyone!

Please I am in urgent need to get these questions answered.

1. What is the best way to travel with my POF? Can I deposit it in a US Dollar Domiciliary account? You can carry cash, you can open a Canadian account (RBC) before you arrive, you can leave it in your dorm and then transfer when you get here (If you have someone to help you).

2. Is it better to rent a place to live from Naija or to get to Canada first? Rent a temp accommodation but if you can get a lease before you arrive, it's best. It makes all the forms you fill so easy and your kids can start school almost immediately. But it's hard to get. Mostly, someone will guarantee you with their credit records and employment history.

3. Who has any info about Etobicoke area. Is is a nice place to live? I think it's a part of the Toronto area. I believe Etobicoke is the former name. It's like living in city centre.

4. Where is the best place to purchase travel health insurance in Naija, or it's not necessary for Canada? I don't have confidence in Naija insurance at all. Canadian is sure.

May God bless whoever responds to my questions abundantly. (and others too)

Doctors usually struggle in Canada. I would suggest US or UK first. I think it has to do with spaces for residency.

9mobile was so bad to me that I just dumped the sim card never to be used again. In a month, they auto renewed me for monthly Flexmore 2 times in the same month. I had 2 data subscriptions running at the same time. Next thing they will send an SMS that my data is exhausted and I won't be able to browse. After 2 days, my real data will show. Basically, they wanted to use that to make me re-subscribe.

Since Etisalat left, they turned to broad daylight robbery.

Use cereal written from 4 months. Even though it has milk, still add some extra till he gets used to it.

I really followed this one.

Biggest contenders were Joseph and Ebuka with the largest fans. The day only Joseph was put up for eviction without Ebuka, Ebuka's fans ganged up and voted him out. Unfortunately, the next week, Ebuka was up for eviction and Joseph's fans ganged up and voted him out. Those remaining were boring so it ended up between talented Franscica and smart Katung.

Ifeoma had the fakest accent ever. Francisca lived and breathed Ebuka. The others were just there.

Hello house, please can someone recommend where I can scan documents wider than the usual A4 size i.e marriage certificate and newspaper publication on name change in Lagos (between and Gbagada and Ikeja axis). Thanks

FamilyRe: What A Man Can Do A Woman Cannot Do Better. by XX01(f): 10:24pm On Feb 07, 2018
Prognose:
We've all heard the saying.

What a man can do, a woman can do better.

And some of us actually take this saying seriously.

I mean, it's pretty obvious it's a lie. Why do we like to believe such blatant lies.

I guess it's a way to try and kick up the morale of the female species. Make that feel powerful and relevant in all spheres of life apart from the kitchen and the oza room.

But seriously I think we have grown psychologically as a race to the point where we know that there are things men do best and there are things specially designed for women to do. Like give birth. Or cook. Or take care of the kids.

They can even help in a little manual labour, but pets face it, when it comes to physical output most women are not equipped at all.

I'm sitting in my office looking out at the construction of a parking lot taking place on the ground below. Some bank offered to tile the parking space and hired this C5 construction company. All the manual labour I'd being done by youths. Every day about a hundred youths show up by 8am and they work till 2pm or thereabouts and then they get paid and leave. The youths comprise of about 70% females and 30% males, about 3 females to every male. Out of curiosity I asked the manager why this was so. She said it had to do with gender cachement or some other, I didn't quite get it. But the funny thing is this.

Every morning the ladies come to work by 8am. In fact the females are more punctual than the males. The guys start arriving by 8.30 -9. The work does not start until then. The ladies hang around and gist and paint their nails until the guys come.

Then all the females gather round the males and watch them mix the cement and carry sand. One or two females help but that's it. Then the guys mix the sand and cement and begin to lay it out on the floor day by day while the ladies go back to sitting in herds and pointing at their favorite male labourer (the most popular one is Akpan , a muscular fellow grin).

Once three girls attempted mixing the cement and laying it on the floor. It was comical to watch. After three trips the first one lay on the floor exhausted. The others quietly dropped their buckets and shovels and winked at some of the guys who immediately sprang to their aid.
At the end of the day the supervisor comes to mark register and all the females rush to mark their names while the males wait wearily behind.

But the funny thing is, no one is complaining. The males get a chance to show off their muscles to the girls and the females gist and make their nails and generally have a good time. And maybe Akpan gets a happier ending at home with a lady later that night. That is the natural order of things and all is right with the world.
Did you actually read this to the end? You deserve a prize! Go out and buy yourself something grin
You obviously have not seen a Nigerian construction site. Women carry pan as well as the men. Who will pay u for sitting around admiring your nails?
