Hello everyone.

I am hoping to re locate to canada early 2018. Either as a student or PR. I am currently a banker in nigeria, 33 yrs , single , male, reasonably comfortable. I am not in a serious relationship but would love to be in one and hopefully get married soon. I am wondering if my decision to relocate would affect my prospects of being married soon. There is a female colleague of mine I have been thinking of, but don't want to commit to it then travel away. So i don't break anybody heart.

Please let me know your thought.

The way it is going, I might switch to Alberta for at least a yr. The stages are too many jor. A friend told me that if your ICAN exams were over 10 years ago that we would have to almost start over.

Someone was even told to go back to bridging school before they start the whole exam process.

Additionally I will provide some examples. I have a friend here in Australia, we completed a course together in Nigeria and afterwards he went to Canada for his M.sc. After his Masters he got married and had a child there. Meanwhile, he was unable to obtain Canadian residency for himself and his Nigerian wife. He applied for and obtained Australian residency and migrated to Australia in 2016. Fast forward to 2017, he became eligible for Canadian residency and he returned to Canada to activate the visa, and there the Immigration authorities informed him that his daughter cannot have 3 citizenships, he will have to eventually renounce either Nigerian or Australian if the child will be Canadian.

I don't accept this example at all. Canada supports multiple citizenship. Your friend should give you all the details as something is missing from his story. Just to add; his daughter was already Canadian from being born in Canada.

Yes you can. But by the time he is entering college, you may want to choose which one he will maintain as Canny/US offer the same advantages but you need to be filing taxes in the 2 countries. By the time you pick which country he will have his university education, you MIGHT want to let go of the other or maybe when he starts working.

Some people keep the 3 so it's yours and his personal choice when it reaches that stage.

Can you explain to her to do this Canny trip with you? In just 3 years, she would be a citizen and can be doing long trips to the US. She won't have to be illegal.

Peradventure, she doesn't agree, you would have to do it with non- accompanying spouse. She would still have to give you medical etc. You need to do it quick before her visa validity rubs out and she becomes illegal. They may refuse just for that.

Anyways, you could probably be placed under stricter scrutiny. But no ones knows until you give it a shot.

You can get a Naija passport so that all your info can be same and you don't have to always do something different for him (in terms of the processing). Also, it might be more difficult to get the passport later (due to distance to embassy).

Nothing wrong with using the passports as they are.

It's for managerial positions BUT if the work you do is a managerial one, then go ahead and pick it even if your title says something different. It's not about titles but what you do. If the roles match then go ahead.

Request for extension till after your trip. No way your application will come back stamped before your trip. Include details of your travel and when you will return so that they can give you 7/15 days after that.

Prior to this, the PA informed their VO that they were expecting as the wife was almost due. When they did, the email received was that they should keep communication to minimal level. Unfortunately, they lost the baby after birth and are confused on what next to do based on the mail received. Should they informed the VO about change of status and how should they go about it. Thanks in advance

So sorry about that. It's only when the baby is born that you write to them to tell them that you want to add a baby. As it stands, they don't need to do anything.

Send a mail to CPC Ottawa to know your visa office then you mail your visa office and ask them what the status of your application is as it has already passed the 6months timeline. You might want to order GCMS notes to know why it is stuck.

If you are in a hurry, and by hurry i mean as from 1-6 wks, do not use Vfs use DHL, if u never ready yet to comot naija, then u can use Vfs

My colleague used VFS and got it in 4 days (delivery). Everything took him 4 weeks.

You can check cost. VFS is 12,500 per person's passport but it's a one-off payment. DHL is about N19k to send and 21k to receive regardless of how many passports are to be sent. So, for a family of 5, DHL would be cheaper but VFS would be cheaper for a family of 2. VFS is also a little slower than DHL.

Speed of processing depends on the Accra office. Mine took 5 weeks, some took 2 weeks. Delivery is about 2 to 5 days.

It depends on the Anglican Church. I got married in one but like a small parish under a bigger diocese (I didn't grow up Anglican so pardon me if I'm not using the right expressions). We went to the registry. However, on the church wedding day we were asked to submit the registry certificate and the church gave us two new certificates - one for us & one for the registry. I still have both with me, though.
It just occurred to me now that, probably, the church got licensed for our sake since the name of the parish is on the certificate & not the name of the mother church, which is licensed.

The best option for anyone is to ask the Vicar or Rev if they are licensed before making a decision. And they can even become licensed for your own sake. Going to the registry can be stressful, you know.

You need to go to a registry and drop the 2nd copy so that if any Body does a registry search, it will show that it is registered. This is important before someone brands your certificate as a fake one.

We just commenced the registry process so if it is the same we can as well save our money.

It's the same. Same as most other Orthodox churches. Check if it has Federal Republic of Nigeria on it and it is on a long strip of paper.

Please I need your advice.

I have a Swiss issued driving licence and we have a reciprocal agreement with Canada which means I can exchange my Swiss licence for the Canadian licence but there's a catch: My licence has to be at least two years old to get a full G licence otherwise I'll have to take a G2 test.

My problem is I plan to land mid next year and my licence would only be 18-19 months old and I read that you have a maximum of 60 days after landing to exchange. Please what would you advice in this scenario?
