Crime / Son Arrested In Shooting Deaths Of Parents At Central Michigan University by xxiv(m): 1:20pm On Mar 03, 2018

A Michigan college student accused of killing his parents at a campus residence hall was arrested early Saturday after a nearly daylong manhunt.

James Eric Davis Jr., 19, is suspected in the fatal shooting Friday following a family-related domestic dispute at Central Michigan University, authorities said. It was the nation's 12th school shooting this year.
"The suspect was seen and reported by an individual on a train passing through the north end of campus shortly after midnight," the university said in a statement.

He was arrested without incident.

"CMU President George E. Ross thanks the campus and surrounding community, and many law enforcement personnel who came together to keep each other safe and apprehend the suspect," the statement said.
The victims
The university, in Mount Pleasant, identified the victims as the suspect's parents: James Eric Davis Sr., 48, and Diva Jeenen Davis, 47.
"The family is in shock and trying to piece everything together," a relative told CNN.
Campus police spoke with James Davis Jr. on Thursday night, Lt. Larry Klaus with CMU Police said during a news conference.
"At some point in the evening, he was transported to McLaren Hospital due to what the officers believed may be a drug-related type incident, an overdose or a bad reaction to drugs. At that point he was released to the hospital staff," Klaus said.
As for Friday's shooting, "we're calling it a family-type domestic issue at this point," Klaus said.
The shooting happened about 8:30 a.m. Friday on the dorm's fourth floor.
The victims were from the Chicago suburb of Bellwood, where James Davis Sr. was a part-time police officer for 20 years and assisted the department on special occasions.

"He was always there when you asked for him to be there," Bellwood Police Chief Jiminez Allen said.
Bellwood Mayor Andre Harvey said he believed the parents were picking up their son before spring break.
James Davis Sr. was a pillar of the community, which has 20,000 residents, and was beloved by friends and neighbors, the mayor said.
The violence came more than two weeks after a shooting rampage at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, left 17 people dead and spurred a national debate over gun control.

Politics / Subjecting The $1billion From ECA For Fighting Boko Haram To NASS Approval by xxiv(m): 1:38pm On Dec 19, 2017
By Comdr  Collins Ehimiaghe

The approval to release $1bn from ECA to prosecute the war against terror in NE certainly does not add up and should be subject to further scrutiny by NASS and the general public.

I suppose it’s now expedient to consider the cost benefit analysis of the war against Boko Haram for better policy design and strategy to defeat the scourge of Islamist militant extremism in the Lake Chad region.

Poverty is certainly one of the root causes of the security issues in the NE. How is FG addressing the challenges of development and providing opportunities for youths in the NE? How much has Nigeria spent since 2014 on military campaign to end Boko Haram? Does the result justify the huge cost ? Could there be alternative strategies?

Perhaps it’s time to reconsider approaches to waging the war on Boko Haram terror.

The need to fund the military must always be considered against the requirements of the people we wish to protect. Consider the hard fact that Bornu and Adamawa States, both ground zero and frontline states confronted with serious challenges arising from the Boko Haram crisis , have a combined approved 2017 budget expenditure of about N300bn (about $850m) for a total population of 7m. Meanwhile the FG seek to provide $1bn to fight Boko Haram. This is in addition to billions of Naira provided in the 2017 Appropriations Act for the military and war on terror.

Apparently while the governments of Bornu and Adamawa States are only able to muster about $120 for the welfare of each citizen in 2017, the FG is proposing to spend $142 to secure the same citizen from Boko Haram just from the ECA $1bn alone. If other budgetary allocations for Security in the NE are included, the FG may well be spending close to $250 to protect an individual from Bornu or Adamawa State from the menace of Boko Haram .

From all indications , Boko Haram is not spending up to $2m to terrorize the NE. Why then must Nigeria continue to spend billions of dollars to defeat Boko Haram? Time for the FG to change strategy!

One Billion Dollars to Fight Boko Haram?

By Odilim Enwegbara

http://www.odilimandfriends.com/thread/one-billion-dollars-to-fight-boko-haram/

Governors just announced that the sum of $1bn be withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) for fighting the “already technically defeated” Boko Haram.

This announcement has since generated tremendous anger among Nigerians who mostly believe that it’s another way of raising the Dasuki campaign money for the 2019 elections.

But before getting to whether it is for political campaign purposes or not, first, it is important to make it abundantly clear that the ECA in question is an illegitimate account.

This because there nowhere in the constitution that ECA is either mentioned or recommended as one of the legitimate accounts to be jointly owned by the three tiers of government.

But be it as it may, the fact that the oil revenue is shared at every monthly FAAC meeting, there is no way state governments can unilaterally make that decision to draw $1bn from the same account, supposedly owned by the three tiers.

They need local governments to endorse such a drawing decision or else it will only require one bold no-nonsense council chairman to go to court to pray that that decision be made invalid since his or local government was neither consulted nor participated in the decision to withdraw such huge sum for fighting Boko Haram.

Given the growing anger that after all, the money, I think that there many other ways and easier ways for government to raise more money than it requires without having to touch the ECA money.

If you have not read my recent piece “The shocking forex fraud taking place at CBN,” I will invite you to go and do so. For those who have already read it, I invite you to read it again.

Once you do so, surely you will discover why the $1bn to fight BH may not necessarily be the major campaign finance source in 2019 elections.

All the government needs to do is to ask its forex czar Mr Emefiele to do the needful, which will be to dry up dollar supply in the forex markets.

This will automatically weaken the naira to the level of N500/$ for example. Keeping the official rate still at N305/$ and selling $20bn at N500/$ during the next 12 months will definitely make the kill.

Here is the math. N500-N305 x 20,000,000,000 = N3.9tn. Try to subtract 20% (N780bn) for the big boys at CBN and at the country’s commercial banks, politicians will still have N3.120tn.

Now from this math we can see that if politicians want to spend trillions in 2019 elections, they wouldn’t have any problem raising such an unheard-of amount.

But, then, is it wholly their fault? Of course not. Here is why. As hypocrites who believe in having their cake and eating it, by demanding highest bidder upfront payment from politicians for our votes, we have driven our politicians crazy in raising the campaign bribe money.

Now, we have the audacity to insist that our politicians are corrupt, removing ourselves from any form of blame.

That is why I personally think that we all to blame for Nigeria’s rottenness. No amount of dodging to see ourselves in the mirror will work. As a people we prefer free and easy money to hard work and honest ways of earning a living.

The day we all stand up against corruption in all its forms, is the day our hypocrisy will disappear. It is the day we can then judge our politicians and others for stealing from our commonwealth. I can’t wait to see that day in my lifetime.

At the emboldened, what do you mean?

It seems you still have feelings for her but you are trying to convince yourself otherwise...else you will be less concerned about the effect of your picture on her dp.. #JustSaying

What I mean is it wasn't something we entered because the chemistry was awesome or we thought we were such a great fit, no. I was single, she wanted to leave a shitty relationship, so hooking up was the convenient thing to do at the time.

I do not want her back, I just wanted to get some opinions that's all. I still work with her on a certain project and I don't want things to become complicated.

She is either trying to make someone jealous or she wants you back

She told me she is over me, she has moved on and the feelings have waned.

We still kinda work on something together, so we still need to keep communicating.

I didn't think she was really into me from the start, honestly neither was I that into her, so it was more like a relationship of convenience. But lately she seem more keen on pulling me back in than I expected. I don't want to assume things tho.

Won't putting my dp up affect her toasters base?
