Jobs/Vacancies / Photo Studio by y2kplus: 12:15pm On Aug 13, 2022 |
I am a photo enthusiast and as a result have built up many photo equipment ranging from camera, backdrops, lightings, and shadow free backdrops etc. over the past years. I am looking at setting up a photo studio in Lagos very soon early next year. I am trying to look at all various options for this - 1. all equipment on lease 2. set up a location and lease 3. set up a location and get a competent photographer to manage The options are not limited. Ideas welcome and willing to look at all ideas openly. |

@alist, Thanks for your response. Actually, I do not have a drawing yet. Just considering purchasing either a 60x60ft 0r 120x60ft plot and build a three bedroom bungalow. I would love to have an above average interior with a reasonable living room, kitchen, 2 large bedrooms and a large master all with ensuites. The BQ will just be a one bedroom flat not occupying too much space. That's why I want to have a rough estimate. If you cab still help with this estimate that would help. Your contact is noted. @stancydg, Many thanks too. Appreciate your response. I have noted your details. Warmest regards. |
Properties / Help With Cost Breakdown For Building A Three Bedroom Bungalow On A 120x6ft Plot by y2kplus: 10:43am On Oct 24, 2016 |
Hello Nairalanders. I want assistance with knowing how much I need to have in hand to build a three bedroom bungalow on 120x60ft plot of land with ample space for parking up to 4 vehicles. I would also like to have a small single bedroom boys quarter with kitchen and toilet/bath in place. I would like you to consider using (a) normal cement blocks and (b) burnt bricks. What will be the price variations if building is in Agbowa and Sango Ifo? Price to also include building supervision. Your assistance will appreciated very highly.

We all feel so sad when someone dies like this. Always very sad. But come to think of it, these okada riders ignore wearing helmets, ride like they are 'invincible' or they are immuned from injuries. Their passengers also do not seem to care about their safety. I have seen passengers both male and female simply using their phones doing whatever and oblivious to what is going on around them. I have seen okada drivers doing drags by raising up their front wheels and trying to go as far as they can. I have seen okada drivers claiming road ownership from drivers on very busy and fast going traffic. When are they going to kearn that certain rules and laws including observance of good traffic sense riding is in their interest? RIP. |

Celebrities / Re: Muna Obiekwe Was A Heavy Smoker And An Alcoholic, His Godmother Vera Kanu Says by y2kplus: 1:16pm On Jan 22, 2015 |
Very sad to read about another death. I guess it is worth noting the level of drinking and smoking that late Muna is reported to have indulged in (as informed by his godmother in this thread and if this is the truth). Please note that I am not in anyway saying anything negative about late Muna or judging him. What I want to raise here is that we must learn from others. The best time to reflect is when something drastic happens to someone we know or close to. If you are reading this, and you indulge in smoking or excessive drinking; maybe this is the time for you to close your eyes and visualise what dying could be like. Smoking and excessive drinking generally is NOT good for anyone's health and well being. In the western countries, creepy messages are being printed on cigarette packets to discourage people from smoking. It is against the law to smoke in public places. Gone are the days when smoking was glamorized. When you sometimes try to raise this matter, it is often thrown back at you that it is not your business and that one has to die of something anyway. Nigeria film industry and late Muna's many fans will miss this icon as well as those he left behind. No one is perfect. Neither am I. I pray that Muna rests in peace and my condolence to his family, friends and close ones. |

Sports / Foreign Football Teams Professors, Please Help! by y2kplus: 4:51pm On Jan 07, 2015 |
I know Nigerians are generally fanatic about football. It is not clear if we still have that local team fan base as it was in the days of Stores, ICC, Sharks, Rangers and many more. One thing is certain. The Nigerian fanaticism of foreign teams is mind boggling. And when you see this, one wonders. I need the help of knowledgeable NL members to help provide me with the following information: 1. A list of the first ten foreign football teams supported by Nigerians in your personal opinion. 2. How many Nigerian fans of foreign teams have you seen decorating his/her home with their team's memorabilia? 3. Do you know if these fans would spend to have their homes fitted with their favourite team colours? 4. Would you pay to have (3) in your home? **PS: I read one of the threads here of the Barcelona fan who wore a dansiki and pants for this particular team. This I found very interesting. Thank you and God bless Nigeria. 1 Like |
Graphics/Video Market / Looking To Lease Out Photo Studio Equipments by y2kplus: 10:42pm On Jan 06, 2015 |
Can anyone please tell me where to source photographers or studios that lease studio equipments as an ongoing agreed arrangement? I have the following: 1. A background that works with two flash guns. By using this type of product, you get a brilliant white background without shadows. 2. Two flash guns that will work with (1) above. 3. A soft face flash (I will upload image tomorrow). 4. A 7ft long background stand 5. 3 different tie and dye type backgrounds with very long drops. 6. A fluorescent continuous lighting system. Please note that the photo are simply to give an idea of what the products look like. These products will be arriving Nigeria by end of Feb. 2015. Helpful and reliable information of good links required. Ideas on how much total package could go for on lease terms? Many thanks.

Politics / Re: FG To Privatise Railways, Inland Waterways, 6 Others In 2015 by y2kplus: 1:31pm On Dec 18, 2014 |
Not everything from the western economy is good. Not privatisation anyway. We must be eclectic with our choices/decisions. What is the logic? Nigeria borrows a lot of money to carry out these projects for which Nigerians have to pay for as many years as we do not know and then sell them for peanuts? Nigeria as a country must realise that privatisation is not about getting the best but enriching pockets; locally or externally. If Nigeria wants private trains etc, let these companies come with their money (100% of it)and provide the facility. We will also ensure that their profit margin is controlled. By the way, who will be the owners of the companies that will purchase these facilities? I hope this privatisation of state projects is not being carried out blindly. |

I observe that there are so many arguments and expressions coming up on this thread. Brilliant! But I still maintain my previous comment: Governor Fashola should act now and ask questions later. A writer on this thread mentioned the poor or lack of maintenance culture. That is the bane. The underlying problem with our structures nationally and locally. I also loved another writer who added another salient point that we all need to play our part. No matter how little. If anyone has the capacity, kindly load these images on fb to further escalate this pitiable plight of students from this school. God bless Nigeria. 1 Like |

Education / Re: Unbelievable Pictures Of Awori college Ojo Lagos by y2kplus: 6:27pm On Nov 19, 2014 |
I observe that there are still students on site meaning this school is still operational. However, does the school not have allocation for maintenance? Because if it does, the school should be held liable for letting the whole school get to this deplorable state. That said, the State Government should move swiftly to redress the situation in the first instance and ask questions later. The buildings do not look conducive for learning. Governor Fashola and his public eyes should take this matter seriously. Action! Action!! Action!!! As for the person who brought these pictures to the attention of Nigerians (or the world), I say many thanks. This is what social network is all about. Social Networks have the good, the bad and their ugly sides. This is the good. I am sure if necessary refurbishment is made, the originator of these images should take the credit. Many thanks again to Nairaland for making this front page. 1 Like |

Smart of you sir! Yes, I mean selling rate if it would be better understood. And a research I made last week showed me that a commercial vehicle that is as old as 1995 may have a higher selling price request than a 1999 or 2000 of similar model that is diesel powered. Who are the people responsible for this and can this be justified? Could they be our mechanics? Why are our 'freedomed mechanics' not seeing that technology is not static but moving on at very fast rate? In Europe, you are most unlikely to find any commercial vehicle with petrol engines. They all come with diesel power! |
