mufutau55: You are exactly right... if you intend to use good PVC like Amoula Paragon, the cost is now similar to POP. So POP wins hands-down.
Hajji M. the way PVC is destroyed by fire shld create a form of fear in everyone building a house now |

In other not to short cut our brothers and sisters seeking advised in building related issues. u are right. just talking about the way things are makes me sick. please, I know we have talked about this before but let's look at it again: what is the cost implication of using gypsum ceiling in relation to PVC n the other ceiling board. thank you |

AngelicBeing: 2 of my friends are currently in both Rwanda and the UAE to open up a business, the one in Rwanda is about opening one of the best entertainment industry in kigali with other businesses along the line, the other one has opened a big African entertainment club in the UAE, to get his operating license in the UAE was not easy initially but a local emirati from the royal family took the issue to the king of Dubai and the king ordered the ministry in charge to issue the guy both the alcohol license and the clubbing business, the guy has opened it and it is a first class entertainment spot in the Difc zone in Dubai, to rent a building in that zone is not a child's play not to talk of having a first class entertainment center there but the king of Dubai approved the license for my friend, other countries are attracting investment but the giant of Africa is sleeping when companies are closing down from Nigeria. Nobody wants to invest in a country without policy direction. the cost of doing business here is out of this world: u provide ur power, ur access road, ur security, pay the community ppl and all manner of spending. a country where banks give loans on interest as high as 28%. am tired of talking about here |

EgunMogaji: They are currently building two houses near me here. One of them has not been worked on for 30 days. They are there today and I asked the foreman why they haven't been coming to work (I work form home so I hear their noise all day when they are there). He said they were waiting for the City Inspector to come and do site inspection and they couldn't continue until he signs off.
In Nigeria we don't have that, so people will just use anything to build because no one will check. I weep. even when inspection is done purportedly, it is just a money making opportunity. there is a block of stalls in my street built beside a transformer n under power cables. I was happy when I saw *stop work* inscription. one week down, the stalls have been completed and ppl are already selling it |

klark3: Majority of the bungalows we have in this country were built with 6" blocks. There is absolutely nothing wrong with building a bungalow with 6" blocks. As long as the blocks are of good quality. some people even use 5" blocks for bungalow, i am sure u haven't see such before. hahaha my father's 6 bedroom that we only use during Christmas only was built with 5" and it's over 24 years old now. |
