Should a president govern a territory where he gets only one percent of the votes of the people in that territory?
Answer this question. Yes or No? YES because the territory is not whole of Nigeria, and he is president of Nigeria not president of Abuja. oya so if a candidate lost in all 36 state and win only Abuja among many contestants that means he should be declared winner? |

If you will help them help them no needs for any media announcement FeelGoodAlways: This is unarguable.
It might not be every Nigerian living in Nigeria but presently, most Nigerians are suffering the kind of suffering they never suffered before.
Here is it.
Before 11am today, 6 different persons called me to seek financial help from me.
These are people that know I'm suffering like them but they still called to task for 2-5k financial assistance.
Note: these people are working and earning but what can your peanut earning do for you in this kind of economy?
My submission This country is no longer for the poor. The rich and political class have succeeded to eliminate the poor and struggling class.
God help us. |

bdon123: Yes as written in the constitution, it seems so.no be me write am.judiciary role is to interpret constitution as written not to change d overall idea.its simple 25% in 36 states and the FCT. The fact that this has been interpreted by supreme court before to mean no need for former arguments. Tribunal is a lower court than supreme court so lets see how supreme court will cancel their earlier pronouncements so if a candidate lost in all 36 state and win only in abuja he should be declared winner? |

I am just asking you yes or no question and you must answer it tesppidd: Do you understand English at all?
I just conceded that all these scenerios are not fair altogether, it is not only the 25 percent in Abuja that is not fair.
All of them are not fair.
So a constitutional amendment is required.
But for now, what we need is a proper and final Supreme Court judgement on the meaning of "36 States and the FCT"
What does it mean constitutionally and legally? not what does it mean commonsensically?.
For the umpteenth time I say,
COMMON SENSE AND LAW ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. |
Politics › Re: TRIBUNAL: A Lower Court Undermined The Supreme Court's Ruling On 25% FCT by yarimo(m): 6:16pm On Sep 08, 2023 |
tesppidd: Agreed. Abuja votes are not superior to other states.
So also let's assume a President scores 90 percent in all the 36 States and gets 1 percent in Abuja, Is it fair for such President to be the "governor" of Abuja? Definitely not fair, and doesn't make sense.
So what we need is a constitutional amendment on that issue, not some smart asses falling over themselves to see who's smarter. so if a candidate lost in 36 state and win Abuja only is it fair to declare him winner |
Politics › Re: TRIBUNAL: A Lower Court Undermined The Supreme Court's Ruling On 25% FCT by yarimo(m): 6:10pm On Sep 08, 2023 |
Spy360: If a candidate has 25% in Kano and another 25% in Imo, are they the same?
When the constitution says that a candidate must have the spread that's where 25% in FCT comes in. It has nothing to do with the value of the votes. It's simply a matter of spread. so if a candidate lost in all 36 state and win Abuja only he should be declared winner? Simple yes or no question |
Politics › Re: TRIBUNAL: A Lower Court Undermined The Supreme Court's Ruling On 25% FCT by yarimo(m): 6:04pm On Sep 08, 2023 |
tesppidd: Law and Logic are two different things.
Why do you think we've been complaining about the loopholes and lacunas in the constitution? At the end of the day the law is the law, no matter how illogical it seems.
Yes it doesn't make sense that Abuja's votes are more important than others,
Same way it doesn't make sense that an elected president whose election is being contested should be sworn in before the case is determined. Abuja votes is not special or superior to any votes in other states, all votes are equal . So if a candidate lost in all 36 state and win in abuja he should be declared winner abi |

JasmineJay5683: President Bola Tinubu recently took a sharp stance against press freedom by withdrawing the accreditation of 25 journalists covering the Presidential Villa.
This unprecedented action, which occurred without any clear explanation, has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian media landscape and raised significant concerns about the state of journalism under Tinubu's government.
To unravel the possible motivations behind this crackdown on media access, we delve into the intricacies of this decision, shedding light on why Bola Tinubu's administration might have taken such a controversial step. https://businesselitesafrica.com/2023/09/08/why-did-bola-tinubu-ban-25-journalists-from-covering/ when will ECOWAS invade Niger republic na? Next time when going to court go with evidence very simple Toks2008: The picture says it all.
How can a nation move forward when votes don't count.
Democracy is government by the people and for the people... But when government is longer by the people then how will the government act in the interest of the people?
The biggest loser is NIGERIA because never again will the progressive youths come out to register to vote, never again will progressive Nigerians bother to vote because they know that their votes are useless.
INEC has set Nigeria several years back and the nation may never ever recover from it.
The former senate president said openly that capturing of results real time from polling units and sending to server is what they signed into law.
INEC chairman MAHMOOD YAKUBU said several times that capturing of election result real time from the polling unit and sending to the server IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT.
But the court has ruled that it is not mandatory despite being a legal requirement
Perhaps if the supreme court makes it mandatory that INEC must capture and transmit voting results real time from polling units to servers and failure to do this will void the result of the effected polling unit... Maybe Nigerians might give birth to another Democracy...
For now I will say "May the soul of Democracy in Nigeria rest in peace" . |

Politics › Re: Many Of Tinubu's Ministers Are Ignorant, Don't Understand Their Portfolio -Abati by yarimo(m): 3:18pm On Sep 08, 2023 |
Abati tell OBI next time when going to court he should go with evidence hisexcellency34: A former presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati on Friday lampooned the newly appointed Ministers by President Bola Tinubu saying many of them are ignorant people who do not understand what their portfolio is all about.
Abati, an anchor with Arise TV made the remark on 'The Morning Show' while reacting to the statement by the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, who advocated for the reduction of school days and the use of schoolchildren as workers to manufacture essentials such as toothpicks, sanitary pads, and cotton buds.
“Let us introduce urban development in the schools. If we can think about using Fridays as a free day for our children to start producing things just like they do in China, even young kids can get involved in production” the Minister had said.
A livid Abati said it is surprising how a Minister will be advocating for Nigerian children to be used as child labourers producing sanitary pads, toothpicks and other things manufacturing companies are struggling to provide.
Abati said “The comparism with China just shows complete ignorance. Those people who have recommended that Uju Ohanenye should probably be renamed Minister of Child Labour Enforcement may be right because she is focused on child labour enforcement”.
“When President appointed these 45 ministers, I made a point on this programme that these people should be given proper instructions, proper training. There should be a ministerial retreat because many of these ministers don’t understand what their portfolio is all about. They have no idea and they don’t have people around them who can explain things to them. This is a consequence of these putting ignorant people together in the room and refusing to draw their attention to the right things”.
“She is minister of women affairs, she is talking about urban development by children . how wrong-headed can that possibly be? And the scandal of it is that she has the confidence to say it in public”. “ So, these Ministers need a retreat. I know the Tinubu administration is dealing with a lot of things but can they quickly organise a retreat, bring people together who are subject areas expert, who can assist them and make available to them documents on state policies?”. https://worldviewafrica.com/many-of-tinubus-ministers-are-ignorant-people-who-dont-understand-what-their-portfolio-is-all-about-reuben-abati/ |
