It was reported on Wednesday that the naira, during trading hours at the I&E window, sold for between N750 and N755 per dollar before appreciating to close at N664.04. JP Morgan, an American multinational financial services firm, says the naira is expected to appreciate, and trade at about N600 to the dollar in the coming months. The financial institution made the projection in a statement on Thursday. On Wednesday, the Central Bank of Nigeria announced the unification of all segments of the forex exchange (FX) market, signalling that the exchange rate will now be decided by market forces. The apex bank’s new policy followed a declaration by President Bolu Tinubu that the “monetary policy needs thorough house cleaning. The Central Bank must work towards a unified exchange rate”. The naira, during trading hours, sold for between N750 and N755 per dollar before appreciating to close at N664.04. Analysing the naira float, JP Morgan said although it would take a few days for the dollar/naira spot to stabilise, it fully anticipates an initial overshoot towards the parallel market rate of below 750 or higher. “While it will take a few days for USD/NGN spot to settle, we fully expect an initial overshoot towards the parallel market rate of -750 or higher, after which, we expect USD/NGN to settle in the high 600s over the coming months,” the statement reads. “We remain long USD/NGN via non-deliverable forwards (NDFs) as well as OW emerging markets bond index global diversified (EMBIGD) index as we expect further positive catalysts to materialise in the near-term. “We believe there is room for incremental positive surprises with respect to reform depth and execution speed. We had high expectations for the new administrations reform agenda; however, the speed of execution has proven to be a positive surprise.” https://www.arise.tv/naira-expected-to-reach-n600-to-1-in-coming-months-says-jp-morgan/#

The meeting comes barely one week after the President suspended Godwin Emefiele as CBN Governor. President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, held a closed-door meeting with the 14th Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, at the State House. Sanusi’s visit, which is the first since the President assumed office, comes barely one week after the President suspended Godwin Emefiele as the CBN Governor. The agenda of the meeting is unclear as of press time. Sanusi served as CBN chief from June 2009 to June 2014 when Emefiele took over from him. On Friday, the President suspended Emefiele as the apex bank’s chief and directed that the bank’s Deputy Governor of Operations, Folashodun Shonubi, resume office in an acting capacity. On Saturday, the Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed that Emefiele is in its custody. On Wednesday, the apex bank unified all segments of the forex market collapsing all previous windows into one. https:///vPFGMPowYD

Prices of petrol don nearly double across fuel stations for Benin Republic. Di west African kontri price increase dis week afta Nigeria scrap fuel subsidy. “Gasoline don rise from 450 CFA to 700 CFA or even 800 CFA” na so Benin-based tori pesin Clément Sodji tell BBC. Tori be say some of Nigeria subsidised petroleum products na Benin dem dey smuggle am go, and dem dey mostly sell di products by di roadsides. Di petrol dey serve one large population of di West African kontri. Dem dey call di product kpayo — wey mean “unoriginal” for Goun, dia native language — e dey cheaper to buy dat one dan buy fuel for stations, wey dey set at 650 CFA, local media report. Dis new development for Benin dey come only days afta Nigeria new President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for im inauguration speech say fuel subsidy don go. Tinubu statement on Monday cause panic buying and long queues for fuel stations and increase di price. Nigeria fifth president since return to democracy for 1999 end decades of petrol subsidy wen im say "fuel subsidy is gone," for im inauguration speech on 29 May 2023. Di 71-year-old politician no give timeframe or any details on how im plan to go about di mata but tok about how e go be "gradual process". Within hours of Tinubu first address, hundreds of pipo rush enta street wit dia car or jericans to buy fuel. Only few bin dey lucky to buy petrol as most fuel stations claim say dem don run out of di product. Afta di chaos na im di president team come out to clarify say scrapping of subsidy no go take effect until end of June- in line wit di outgoing administration budget. By dat time e don too late to stop di panic. And by Wednesday, e become official say goment don stop subsidy di state-owned oil company NNPCL announce say dem don raise di price of petrol. Wetin be Fuel Subsidy? Fuel subsidy na form of goment intervention to reduce di cost of fuel. Goment dey provide direct financial support to oil companies, so dem go fit reduce di price of di product to consumers (Nigerians) to make am dey affordable for dem. Nigeria na one of Africa largest producers of crude oil and e dey rely heavily on dis resource for dia economic growth. Sake of say Nigeria no get refinery, dem gatz export dia crude oil go anoda kontri come import di refined crude oil. Di money wey dem go take refine dis crude oil dey expensive and make e for no be burden on consumers, goment dey pay some part of di money to marketers. Dia fore goment dey control di price and na di amount dem tell marketers to sell, dem go sell am. Dis na how common pipo dey benefit from goment, according to dem. Di official reason for oil subsidy na to reduce di effect of rising global oil prices on Nigerians. Fuel subsidy don dey di kontri since di 1970s. E become normal tin for 1977, under di regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo wit di promulgation of di Price Control Act wey make am illegal for some products (including petrol) to dey sold above di regulated price. Between 2006-2018, Nigeria don spend about 10 trillion Naira on petroleum subsidies. African kontris wey don remove fuel subsidy Nigeria- Bifor goment remove subsidy fuel price, na 185 naira ($0.40, £0.32) per litre for petrol for di kontri. Now wey goment don remove subsidy, di price range from 480-550 naira ($1.18). Ghana – Di west African kontri remove fuel subsidy many years ago. Fuel price for Ghana na £1.44 ($1.80) or 14 cedis ($1.24) respectively for a litre. Angola- Di second largest oil producers for Africa withdraw fuel subsidy on Thursday. Finance Minister Vera Daves say di withdrawal of fuel subsidies come as a result of a sovereign decision by Angolan goment. E follow goment decision to raise di price of petrol from 160 kwanza ($0.27) to 300 kwanza ($0.51) per litre, wey come into effect on Thursday dis week. Di new measure no go affect public service vehicles and motorcycles - di operators go get a non-transferable pre-paid card wey dem go use buy fuel. Nigeria- Bifor goment remove subsidy fuel price, na 185 naira ($0.40, £0.32) per litre for petrol for di kontri. Now wey goment don remove subsidy, di price range from 480-550 naira ($1.18). I think this man supposed to have relocated to Benin Republic by now 🙄 |
A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has said he will gladly work with the administration of President Bola Tinubu if invited to contribute his quota to nation-building. George, a long standing adversary of Tinubu, who stated this while reacting to questions from journalists who converged in his office in Ikoyi, said he had no personal issues with the president. On whether he would agree to serve the country if appointed by the current administration, he said,’’ My reaction, like I have said, there is nothing personal. Look, I trained in the military. You know in the military whoever is in the trench next to you is your brother. When you go out to say what is our mission in the military? It is to defend our country. If he comes and says look, what do you feel about this, what do you feel about that, let’s work together in the interest of this country, why would I refuse? This nation also trained me. ‘’The military trained me. There is no part of the world that I have not been, training and doing exercises. This country trained us. So, we must be able to put something back to the system that would also positively impact on the younger ones, to put a smile on their faces.’’ Commenting on why his party (PDP) lost the 2023 general election, George said it was because the leaders marginalised some sections of the country. He said, “They divided Nigeria into six geo-political zones and sought out six top positions in Nigeria, to which each zone will go home with one position or the other. After eight years, all the positions in the North will come to the South so that the issue of the majority perpetually getting the goodies and the minority just being onlookers will be resolved. I have not seen any better system. Remember when APC first came, they said ‘we don’t believe in zoning, what nonsense, we are not going to do zoning. “What did they do at the end? Where was Buhari from, where was Osinbajo from? Where was the Speaker from? Where was the Senate president from? That was the major problem the PDP discountenanced and landed us in the deck because the national chairman emerged from the same North where the presidential candidate of the party also came from. ‘’I said haba, you wanted to go back to where we tried to avoid, but they kicked. There are no monkeys anymore in Idanre (Ondo State). When we tried to point out to them that South West had been left behind and not included in their calculation, they said we should come back after elections. Then we said okay, we would also after elections. Now, we have seen the consequence.’’ https://leadership.ng/i-will-work-for-tinubu-if-he-invites-me-says-bode-george/

The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command has arrested Fredrick Nwajagu, the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate in Lagos State, who vowed to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos State in order to secure Igbo properties in the state. A source in the police who preferred anonymity confirmed that the Igbo leader was arrested on Saturday morning by a joint team of policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services. “A team of police and DSS went to his palace but he had already fled. He was later traced to a hotel in Ejigbo where he was arrested,” the source told PUNCH. SaharaReporters had on Friday reported that Nwajagu, in a 49-second video shared on Twitter by @DeeOneAyekooto said that the move was necessary due to attacks on Igbo people in the state. The Igbo leader had stated that he stood by his words and that his people must take a stand in Lagos State by shutting down their economic activities to protest the alleged intimidation they had been facing from other non-Igbo residents of the state. In the video obtained by SaharaReporters, he had said, “If not one month, two weeks, if not two weeks, for a one week, if not one week, three days. “Let us know how it is between us and them in this state. Since they have been chasing us to go, let's shut down for one week or two weeks so we can know how the state will be. “Whenever Igbos travel for Christmas, the state will be empty and they will be waiting for us to come back and when we return, the state will become busy, and there will be traffic jam and everything will become busy. “Now they are asking us to go. They should stop threatening us with going back to our place. We will stop peace, peace will stop. “If we shut down markets, we have securities in Anambra, the IPOB, we will invite them and we will pay them, and that is part of what we can do for them and give them a job. Members of IPOB have no job. When shut down markets, IPOB will secure our shops and we will pay them. We have to start that and we have to have our own security so that they will stop attacking us in the midnight, in the morning, in the afternoon. They will stop attacking us by emergency.” https://saharareporters.com/2023/04/01/nigerian-police-dss-arrest-igbo-chief-who-vowed-bring-ipob-lagos-protection

Obi Pandora is a comedian 😏 Meanwhile Ademola Adeleke mother is from enugu & Yoruba voted for Adeleke because he represents Yoruba Chinedu Rhodes wasn't voted because he doesn't represents & respect Yoruba culture Don’t let anyone guilt trip you into believing that Yoruba are bigot. We're not. We're not just stupid |
This is why they are not challenging the result of the presidential elections. Some are wondering why Obi,didn't bring the so-called evidences that he won the election. Let us use the Obidient election tallies on IREV. In Anambra,INEC declared 584,621 votes for Obi. By Obidient calculations on IREV,Obi actually scored 379,889 votes in Anambra. A massive 200,000 votes were added for Obi. In Enugu,INEC announced,428,640 votes for Obi. By Obidient calculations,on IREV,Obi actually scored 337,008. His votes were inflated by 100k! In Imo, INEC announced 360,495 votes. When Obidient did their own tally on IREV,Obi's votes were 247,947. Another 100k votes were added for Obi. These are reasons why Obidients stepped back a bit,and realised,in trying to chase who owed their fathers money, they would meet those who their father too owed. An Akwa Ibom proverb says," What the goat heard, that made it keep quiet, is more than what the fowl heard that made it cackle about" https://twitter.com/StFreakingKezy/status/1639592739661656065?t=axWRRjcsL1waqbHsXA0eKg&s=19 |

I've said it before Igbo doesn't vote for competency but tribalism and hatred. If he has contested under APC they would have cursed him, instead of singing his praise now. 🙄 |
Those of you that said you voted for the "person" and not "party",I want to tell you that Alex Otti was in APC until May 28th, 2022 when he decamped to LP. Then answer this question would he have won the election under APC? Be sincere with your answer o https://twitter.com/StFreakingKezy/status/1638884130011205632?t=wuOlV3ymKSn8D_J3Ht-Nwg&s=19
