Scientists believe that kissing is a mixture of chemicals, textures, and tastes that can enhance the attraction or derail it. It triggers your brain to release some chemicals that keep you in a good mood by igniting the pleasure centers of the brain. These chemicals include oxytocin, dopamine , and serotonin, which can make you feel euphoric and encourage feelings of affection and bonding. It also lowers your cortisol (stress hormone) levels. Kissing is a big decider of attraction and is a much more pleasurable experience when you’re genetically compatible, says love biologist, Dawn Maslar. In addition to boosting your happy hormones, kissing can reduce your cortisol levels —potentially improving your feelings of self-worth. A research conducted by scientists revealed that couple who were unhappy with their physical appearance had higher cortisol levels in their body. Judging from the lines above, kissing is no doubt one of the best ways to show affection, unfortunately, many may not realise that intimate kissing that involves exchange of saliva can often transfer some life threatening disease. An intimate 10 second kissing can transfer over 80 million bacteria, as such no one is exempt from the disease-spreading dangers of kissing. Below are 6 potential scary diseases or illnesses you can develop from kissing your partner. 1. Polio Polio is an acute viral infectious disease of the nervous system. The virus can affect the nerves and may lead to partial or full paralysis Pathogenesis Poliovirus is strictly human pathogen. Clinically, it is transmitted by direct person-person contact via; contact with infected mucus from the mouth or nose and contact with infected faeces. Incubation period is usually 6 - 20 days. Polio virus enters through the mouth, then followed by replication in the alimentary tract, this is then followed by a primary transient viremia. The virus then invades the local lymphoid tissue, enters the bloodstream and then infect cells of central nervous system. Sign and symptoms Polio in over 90% cases is usually asymptomatic. In the 5% to 10% of the cases in which there are symptoms, the illness appears in three forms: a). A mild form or abortive polio which is characterized by clinical symptoms ranging from upper respiratory tract infections (fever and sore throat), nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrea and in some cases influenza-like illnesses. b). Non-paralytic polio which presents manifestations like stiffness of neck, back and or legs. c). Paralytic polio which causes flaccid paralysis. It is characterized by asymmetric paralysis, weakness of muscles, respiratory arrest and even death. 2. Mumps Mumps formerly known as epidemic parotitis a distinctive and generally benign systemic viral infection that affects the salivary glands, causing them to swell. Pathogenesis Mumps is highly contagious, usually spreads via airborne droplets from the nose or throat of an infected person to susceptible individual. Primary viral replication takes place in the epithelial cells of the nasal mucosa or upper respiratory tract followed by spread to regional lymph nodes. This is followed by transient viremia resulting in dessimination of the virus ro granular or neural tissue. Signs and symptoms Following the mean incubation period, symptomatic mumps begins typically with a fever, headache, muscle aches, malaise and anorexia (loss of appetite) . Recovering from mumps takes about two weeks, and treatment usually focuses on relieving the symptoms. 3. INFLUENZA Influenza , commonly known as the flu , is an infectious disease caused by an influenza virus. Pathogenesis Influenza is spread from person to person, usually via droplets made when people with the flu cough, sneeze or talk, this infection is solely respiratory tract. People can infect others with the flu virus one day before they have symptoms and up seven days after becoming sick. Influenza viruses normally replicate in the mucosa of the nasopharynx, resulting in a pharyngitis or at most a tracheobronchitis after an incubation period of 24-72 hours. Signs and Symptoms The most common symptoms include: high fever, runny nose, sore throat , muscle and joint pain , headache , coughing , and feeling tired .These symptoms typically begin 2 days after exposure to the virus and most last less than a week. The cough, however, may last for more than two weeks. Most people recover on their own in less than two weeks. The flu is a highly seasonal disease that can often be prevented by getting an annual flu vaccine. 4. RUBELLA Rubella aslo known as "German measles" is an exanthemous infection caused by a rubivirus. It is typically a mild infection that goes away within one week with or without treatment. Pathogenesis Rubella virus usually spreads by direct contact with respiratory secretions. The virus primarily replicates in lymphoid organs at the portal of entry and in the nasopharyngeal space after which a viremia develops before the exanthem manifests. The virus in pregnant women takes its route through the placenta to the embryo, where it can cause congenital deformities or embryonic death especially in the first trimester of the pregnancy. Signs and Symptoms Symptomatic rubella usually manifests in the symptoms such as pink or reddish facial rashes, mild fever, swollen and tender lymph nodes, runny or stuffy nose, headache, muscle pain and inflamed red eyes. The use of live attenuated vaccine is commercially available to prevent rubella-caused embryopathies and provide lifelong immunity. 5. INFECTIOUS MONONUCLEOSIS Infectious mononucleosis or glandular fever popularly knowns as kissing disease , is an infection usually caused by the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV). While usually caused by Epstein–Barr virus, also known as human herpesvirus 4, which is a member of the herpes virus family , a few other viruses may also cause the disease. Pathogenesis It is primarily spread through saliva but can rarely be spread through semen or blood. Spread may occur by objects such as drinking glasses or toothbrushes. Those who are infected can spread the disease weeks before symptoms develop. Mononucleosis is primarily diagnosed based on the symptoms and can be confirmed with blood tests for specific antibodies. Signs and Symptoms Symptoms are very similar to those of the flu and include a fever, sore throat, fatigue, muscle weakness and swollen lymph glands. The infection and related symptoms usually last for one to two months. Young people between the ages of 15 and 30 and those who regularly come into contact with a lot of people are the most at risk. While no treatment for mononucleosis exists, resting, staying hydrated and taking over-the-counter pain medications often help. 6. GINGIVITIS Gingivitis is a common and mild form of gum disease (periodontal disease) that causes irritation, redness and swelling of gingiva, the part of gum around the base of teeth. It's important to take gingivitis seriously and treat it promptly. Gingivitis can lead to much more serious gum disease called periodontitis and tooth loss. Pathogenesis The cause of plaque-induced gingivitis is bacterial plaque, which acts to initiate the body's host response . This, in turn, leads to destruction of the gingival tissues, which then progress to destruction of the periodontal attachment apparatus. The plaque accumulates in the small gaps between teeth, in the gingival grooves and in areas known as plaque traps; locations that serve to accumulate and maintain plaque. These accumulations may be tiny, the bacteria in them produce chemicals, such as degradative enzymes, and toxins, such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS, otherwise known as endotoxin ) or lipoteichoic acid (LTA), that promote an inflammatory response in the gum tissue. This inflammation then cause an enlargement of the gingiva and subsequent formation. Signs and Symptoms Signs and symptoms of gingivitis include Swollen or puffy gums, Dusky red or dark red gums, Gums that bleed easily during tooth brush or floss Bad breath, Receding gums, Tender gums. If you notice any signs and symptoms of gingivitis, schedule an appointment with your dentist. The sooner you seek care, the better your chances of reversing damage from gingivitis and preventing its progression to periodontitis. http://arewamobile.com/6-diseases-you-can-get-from-kissing/

Mr. Mohammed A. Adamu, The Acting Inspector General of Police, Nigerian Police Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja. Sir, REQUEST FOR AN URGENT SECURITY RESPONSE IN KANKARA TOWN AND ENVIRONS I write on behalf of the entire people of Kankara Local Government to bring to your attention the plight of the people of the said area. Sir, it is not exaggeration to say that we are under siege. Cattle rustling, kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery and banditry have become common place in our area. As a people we live in constant fear and trepidation. This is happening in spite of the efforts of Katsina state government of disarming the bandits and lawfully engaging them through an amnesty programme initiated by the government. Security situation is deteriorating on daily basis and getting delicate to an alarming rate. We have no option than to write to your office and seek for the deployment of IGP-Intelligence Response Team. We have closely monitored this team under the valiant leadership of DCP Abba Kyari and appreciate their effort in curtailing the rate of the crimes in many crises ridden parts of the state including our area. We have watched how he sent his team to Katsina under the leadership of DSP Aliyu Mohammad and succeeded in arresting notorious kidnap kingpins, armed robbers and cattle rustlers that terrorized some parts of the State including our area. Thus, as a people, we will be highly appreciative if the team is deployed to our Local Government for some time to help the existing security structure fish out the criminals in our midts. Thanks as we anticipate a positive response. Yours faithfully, Malam Ibrahim Sani Kankara KANKARA UNITY FORUM |

THE Imam of one of the Christchurch, New Zealand mosques attacked by a terrorist on Friday is a Nigerian, The Nation can report today. Lateef Alabi who is the Linwood mosque’s acting Imam was leading the congregation in prayers on the fateful day when terrorist Brenton Tarrant struck. Alabi said the death toll would have been far higher at the mosque but for a worshipper, Abdul Aziz, 48, who grabbed Tarrant’s gun and forced him away from a mosque. Aziz’s action terminated the killing spree. Alabi said he heard a voice outside the mosque at about 1.55pm and stopped the prayer he was leading and looked out the window, the London Mail reported yesterday. He saw a man in black military-style gear and a helmet holding a large gun and assumed it was a police officer. Then he saw two bodies and heard the gunman yelling obscenities. “I realised this is something else. This is a killer,” Alabi said and shouted at the congregation of more than 80 people to get down. They hesitated only for a shot to be fired by Tarrant, shattering a window and felling a worshipper. That what when it dawned on the congregation that they were under attack. “Then this brother came over,” he said of the moment Aziz could no longer bear the unfolding scenario. “He (Aziz) went after him, and he managed to overpower him, and that’s how we were saved. “Otherwise, if he managed to come into the mosque, then we would all probably be gone.” Also reporting on the tragedy, the Sunday State Times quoted Alabi as saying that grieving families of the mosque terrorist attack victims are anxious to be reunited with their loved ones. “Everybody is angry, everybody is upset of course, and they want to see their dead ones and just want to pay their last respects and let them go to the grave, but the police have to complete their work and go through the normal procedure before they are released,” he said. Alabi said the community leaders had requested the process be done as quickly as possible. “We just request the bodies shouldn’t be too long in the mosque because the bodies are still lying over there and eventually it will be too difficult to wash the bodies and take to the burial and probably things will start deteriorating, that’s the worry.” He and other leaders wanted the mosques re-opened with increased security. “I’m very sad for what has happened, but I believe this country is a peaceful country and I hope something good will happen after that and the security will become tighter.” “They just want to express the anxiety and the pain they are going through … that’s all. Our people are very good; it’s not that they are angry with the police or the work they are doing. They just want to see … just to know that … ok, my father is gone, my brother is gone … so I just want to get him beneath the ground, beneath the earth.” No time for the release of the bodies for burial had been agreed, but Alabi said it would “probably” start from Sunday. Alabi became emotional talking about the grieving families. “I never thought this would happen in New Zealand, never, never, never, believe me. “But it’s happened, it’s happened, so it will happen anywhere and …. we just feel bad about those who have passed away … and for their families … I will pray for them.” The volunteer imam said he was in the middle of prayers when he saw the gunman outside the mosque. “He shot one brother coming towards the mosque; he shot him from the head. “I stopped my prayer, I peeked through the window, and I saw the person with a machine gun, heavily dressed. By the time I looked on the ground and saw dead bodies I thought this is something else, this is a terrorist.” Alabi told everyone inside to “get down”, but it wasn’t until the gunman shot someone through a side window that everyone dropped to the floor. He said the gunman ran out of bullets and dropped his gun. A man inside the mosque followed the shooter as he left the mosque. He picked up the machine gun and smashed it into the gunman’s car windscreen. After the gunman ran away, Alabi returned to the mosque. “I started picking up the bodies to know who was dead and who was alive.” Alabi said he had never expected to experience a terrorist attack in New Zealand. “I’m very sad for what has happened, but I believe this country is a peaceful country and I hope something good will happen after that and the security will become tighter.” It would take some time and lots of reassurance before many members would feel safe to return to the mosques. “Probably even going to the mosque will be hard for members unless some serious security is provided.” “I believe New Zealand will do it. The PM has promised it, and she will do it,” he said. Aziz, the man who stood up to the terrorist is being hailed a hero for preventing more deaths at the Linwood mosque, although he says he is not one. He thinks it is what anyone would have done. At least 49 people were killed after Tarrant allegedly attacked two mosques in the deadliest mass shooting in New Zealand since 1983. http://thenationonlineng.net/how-nigerian-imam-escaped-death-in-new-zealand-mosque-attack/

Multiple people have been killed at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch after at least one gunman opened fire on worshipers, police said. Witnesses told media that a man dressed in a military-style, camouflage outfit, and carrying an automatic rifle had started randomly shooting people in the Al Noor mosque. New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said police had also defused a number of improvised explosive devices found on vehicles after the mosque shootings. Mr Bush also confirmed police now have four suspects in custody - three men and one woman. However, he also warned it was not possible to assume that the attack was isolated to Christchurch, saying: "At this point in time we should never make assumptions." New Zealand media have reported that between nine and 27 people have been killed. A man who claimed responsibility for the shootings left a 74-page anti-immigrant manifesto in which he explained who he was and his reasoning for his actions. He said he considered it a terrorist attack. Police advised people to stay away from mosques. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said there was no place in New Zealand for such acts of extreme violence. "Police are responding with its full capability to manage the situation, but the risk environment remains extremely high," New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said. People in centre of the city should stay indoors, police said. All Christchurch schools and council buildings have been placed into lockdown. The Bangladesh cricket team which were in Christchurch to play New Zealand in a third cricket on Saturday was arriving for prayers at the mosque when the shooting occurred but all members were reported safe. "They were on the bus, which was just pulling up to the mosque when the shooting begun,” Mario Villavarayen, strength and conditioning coach of the Bangladesh cricket team said. "They are shaken but good.” The teams later announced the test would be cancelled. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/03/15/new-zealand-police-respond-reports-mosque-shooting-christchurch/

I sure didn't want to get involved in this madness, but then watching & hearing some supposedly educated Nigerians hawk this satanic propaganda like pure water, I just realised that fools multiply only when the wise keep quiet! Half of PMB's job in the past 3 years has been to clean up our stinking image all around the world so as to restore our dignity as a country & as a people & bring back the trust of the international community. But we keep goofing & destroying every gain he makes with our rabid penchant for pettiness & idiotic bickering! First, it was telling a shocked world that an accomplished Military General, 2 times Head of State{military & civilian}, an officer gentleman that attended their best military academies & graduated with distinctions both in character & learning has no Senior School Certificate! What shame that gullible hateful twerps has to subject a nation to! Now the latest show of shame is a theory of an impostor Jibril from Sudan ruling in Aso Rock in place of a dead elected president. How have we allowed primitive emotions to take preeminence over reason & make us the butt of jokes around the world! It wasn't enough that we wished him dead but we must pronounce him dead too by all means! Those who stole us blind & are called to account for their loot, those who jostled & campaigned secretly to replace him then thinking he will die in London, the fraudulent agents of disintegration of our country, & the evil kleptomaniac establishment desperate to come back to power are selling you this satanic theory from the pit of hell & you are buying it wholesale & hawking it retail about like recharge card! What a tragic disgrace you are to your school, community & the human race in general! How can a whole country ridicule herself & make a mockery of the international secret service community, world acclaimed & renowned media houses & respected men of God. The fraud Nnamdi Kanu & his PDP collaborators now know more than the American CIA, Russian FSB, Israeli MOSSAD, British Scotland Yard etc. They know more than CNN, AlJazzera, BBC, Times, Economists etc. They know more than the world leaders he has visited in their countries & the ones that has visited him in Nigeria. They know more than Justin Welby the Archbishop of Canterbury & head of all Anglicans worldwide or Pastor Enoch Adeboye GO of the biggest church in Nigeria, Redeemed Christian Church of God both of whom visited him repeatedly in London when he was sick & confirmed glad tidings to the whole world that his recovery is total & amazing! In our foolish & blinding hatred we have forgotten so quickly that a lot of top government officials visited him in London severally during his illness & brought us good progress report on his total recovery. Those who visited the president during this period include, the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara. Apart from his Media Team, the State Governors, some selected Ministers and the then Acting-President Yemi Osinbajo led the stream of visitors. So now, we shall jettison their testimonies then or believe that all these people, world religious & political leaders, the world press & the international security community is in a gang up conspiracy against Nigeria? That will be the height of foolhardiness but that is exactly what the hawkers of this stupid theory is telling the world we are, fools! Again, how could Jubril have known everybody in the President's home in Kastina, recognize all the political actors in Nigeria, including his ministers and governors. Proponents of this satanic game should understand that Nigerians are aware & wise people and not fools who will accept such a dubious and diversionary desperation strategy! For good measure this was verbatim, Mr Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives speech after his visit with NASS leadership to the president in London ~ “Today we visited His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari. I am glad that he is doing well. His health has improved tremendously. I urge all Nigerians to continue to pray and offer thanks to God for answered prayers and for the safe return of Mr President. We must give thanks to God for this highly welcomed recovery. It is clear that Mr. President’s insistence on following his doctors’ advice has yielded the desired results. Mr. President exhibited remarkable recovery and was very conversant with all the political happenings back at home and across the continent.” Now to the children of anger & perdition, working iniquity day & night, hear this, the Almighty God who kept PMB alive when the desperadoes wanted to snuff him out with poison, will still keep him alive until he completes his mission of ridding our country of the ungodly, conscienceless thieving establishment that has wrecked untold havoc on her! No amount of wicked blackmail from the pit of hell will move him. And for the irredeemable fools believing stupid pictures, may your condition & body shape during a life threatening illness remain the same without replenishment of flesh & strength when you recover! . May Nigeria Succeed! Michael Ogueke, the original poster. |

I wonder how some people here who have never been to the north, talk less of having a chance to visit Kano trying to comment rubbish on this thread. A Facebook user identified as Lord Beckson Sirjoe, has taken to the social media platform to share some photos of a young man who was discovered unconscious after he spent five days inside a wardrobe out of fear in the ongoing crisis in Kaduna State. He wrote:- Below is Umar who sales coconut and dead palm at Dullahi filling station Sabon Tasha Kaduna. I found him inside this wardrobe when I went out this morning to check some facilities in a house at black street. He has been in this wardrobe since Sunday when the uproar stated, he ran into the house without the knowledge of the tenant in the house and went to this empty room where he hide himself for five days without taking food no seeing the day light and doesn't know what was going on. I picked him up, he was helpless and looking weak, he could not walk. After regaining his consciousness and strength I called Alhaji Hassan a Fulani man who is a business man in SABO metropolis who identify him and I handed him over to the security. Theirs every need to live in peace with one another and to make Nigeria a better place for me and you. If we can convert all the strength we are using in fighting for the course of religion into national building, and if we can love our country the way we love our religion Nigeria by now would have been more than DUBAI. Let make Kaduna great again. Peace to my state..

The attack, according to the Secretary Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Barkin Ladi, occurred at about 4pm Sunday afternoon in Kassa village of Barkin Ladi local government. The Fulani leader said, “The boy was grazing in the bush and at about 4pm, some armed youth who I can confirm were Berom boys attacked the boy with gun, they shot him and made away with 90 cows. “As the time we got the information, we rush there to discover that the boy was dead. "I just wish that an average Nigerian realises that these criminals in the Senate do not represent any of his/her interest, but their personal pockets instead. When PDP fails again in 2019, they will all defect to wherever they consider exploitable. At a point where the country should have a new party full of some well-meaning individuals, technocrats and people with track records in civil services, private sectors, irrespective of their beliefs, tribe or ethnicity etc. Nigerians are left with fewer options mostly between the BAD and the UGLY. They always claim to have consulted the member of their constituencies, while they all reside in Abuja, some are even in the Senate to make up numbers, sleeping whenever any national issue is being discussed while others bully only on cyberspace. What a nation!!!" |
