Bro you don’t understand what femi fought for femi is my brother for life. You see those changes in the halls of resident. That’s one of femi effects. We in the department of building were always victimized by engineering lecturers and some of our own lecturers ask anyone in building department from 08 set -18 set the hell we had to go through and the university turn blind eyes to it. Hall of residence be like ghetto for mushin. Some of us fought the battle lecturers fail is like say we no sabi book. Imagine make lecturer dey fail you because she no see your name for exam attendance.

So the halls of residence have now improved? Great news to hear if true! During our time, there was so much neglects of the hostels to the extent that bed bug infestations were very common.

Looking at his picture, it brings memories then as he was part of the people that came to Jaja Hostel then to tell us to protest and the situations then really demanded one! We were pushed to the wall and the authorities were clearly not listening! To see how bad they were, during the protests, they brought the police and army to drive their own students out of the school! With what happened then, the university would be very weary of choosing future VCs from the Faculty of Engineering due to their poor human relations.

When the academia are even undemocratic, what should we expect from the politicians? I was in the school at UNILAG in 2016 when this happened. The issues then were really bad. No water, no light and things were just upside down SMH. We came back after the protest and only those with bedspace were allowed into the hostels. The rest slept outside in the cold and with mosquitoes. Funnily, the Secretary of the ULSU then, I have known her since we got into school then. She was also rusticated. This issue let us see how wicked the VC then, Professor Rahamon Bello was and I am sure with the poor handling of the situation, he could be the last VC from that Faculty in a long time as the one from the Faculty before him also had a mess of student relations too. Funnily, the VC then is from my department. Such a disgrace unfortunately SMH.
