olisefom: I wonder why Nigerian businesses behave funny when their staff is about to leave. I appreciate sincerity and I try not to shortchange them for any reason cos of other staffs that might be watching.
Sometimes, these contacts are still needed and will save your organisation agreat deal. As an employer, you are like a needle in haystack in terms of that behavior. Most employers hose their leaving employees these days. |

ghiloman28: Follow up with them you will get it. But the truth remain anytime you resigning in Nigeria own companies try and collect your salary to avoid issues like this coz average Nigeria business owners always sad when is time to pay salary and gratitude. That is it! Best advice! If you want to resign in Nigeria, collect your salary before you resign and it should be with immediate effect so as not to lose much salary to them! |

Good morning fam, After my resignation on 24-09-2022 which I posted here. Some faulted me for not taking my salary and leave without notice
Yea I felt bad but I served in a very vital department that I had alot of their properties in my care. And the firm is known for taking up cases like this up and declaring you "missing" with your pictures all over their branches.
This can tarnish one's image or even cause my new employer to dismiss me , so I had to do all neccessary documentation
After my resignation The HR asked me to send my IDs, handbooks and other documents to the HQ in the East instead of the one here in Lagos where i stay
I sent it accross to them , after some weeks when I called to know if they recieved it She told me that they got only the handbook and nothing else (I sealed all these together) I stood my ground and was ready to travel for this After two weeks, she admitted that they have seen every of the documents
My new job took my time because I have been on training I never called to ask of my salary, when I in Dec, she assured me that they are working on it
On Monday this week, I was ready to meet the MD because of this issue I called the lady again, she was ranting that i should allow them to work on my benefits and all that , I raised my voice too and told her that I only worked with them for 6 months , i really wonder what benefits she is calculating and I am ready to meet the MD because of this and that she should have it on mind that I am not forfeiting this salary for ANYTHING.
She dropped the call, later the secretary called me to assure me that they are working on it
Yesterday my pension account was credited I have to wait for my salary at the end of this month I will be patient till March , because she once told me that it is after 6 months I should be worried not "disturbing" her everyday
Till then Another tale of being hosed or jobbed by a Nigerian employer in terms of paying last or less than a month salary. You can't say you worked without this happening to you sigh. Let it go. They now wonder why their businesses never get dedicated workers. This is one of the reasons. |

Authoreety: Why was ur job terminated
If they've not been owing yu, just leave them and forge ahead..
This is why I'm not a fan of private companies. Best advice! At the end, they get their recompense back one way or the other! Karma can't be missed, it might just take time! |

siraj1402: I was working with a company since late 2015 and my appointment was terminated yesterday.
What was contained in the contract letter was that I either give a month notice or return a month salary in case I want to leave and vis Versa.
The HR called me that I will be paid for this month which I think I am already entitled to, having work for half of the month already.
I feel the company has already breached the contract agreement else I am to be paid at least have of the month I have already worked for.
Please the lawyers in the house should advice me before taken any step.
Thanks You think Nigerian employers will ever pay salary for less than a month work? *Laughs in French*. Sope otilo! The day Nigerian employers pay salary for less than a month work is the day hell will freeze over! I am a victim too! There is nothing that can be done except if you are willing to put a lot of money in and sue for damages (mental distress and all what not) too! |

soyenuga: It has a very human face. Give us 1 week notice and you are free to go. Thats how it works in the western world too. I know someone who has 2 months notice before they can leave. Its for the benefit of everyone. You are thinking only for yourself and thats fine. I know some people with 2 months notice and they abide by it. Its called a contractural agreement. Its clear you are not mature enough to be a man/woman of your word, and that has repercussions in life. Grow up, do right, work hard, I promise you it will pay off. If not in the company, it will in something else you are doing. Balderdash! |

soyenuga: I now think I understand what happened. Firstly, I still don’t who you are, but based on your recent statement, you left without notice. Just up and left and didn’t state your intention to leave, which you sign upon employment that you will do. It’s just 1 week notice, but you didn’t do it. Why? This means you did not do any close out in the office. Any company issued property was not returned by you. Any loans issued to you could not have been returned. But now you come online to say you haven’t been paid. It’s very simple process to say you are leaving we grant it and we pay you. If you would have performed close out you would have been paid. I have actually had to beg staff to submit the notice even after they were aware of the policy.
Why do you believe it’s ok to leave a company without notice, especially after you have contractually agreed that you will?
I’m not worried about your post, because I know you did not perform in good faith and are now coming here to voice any negative thing you can think of. Positive things come to positive people. Do the right thing in the future, build your skill, be open to learning, positive things will come to you. Also know there are repercussions to bad actions. All this one na the yeye useless Tori una employers dey always come up with! No be una fault sha, na government wey no dey enforce labour laws cause am! |

checkmatez: On page 1, did I just read they resumed by 9 due to compensation on "35 MINUTES STROLLING "to the farm
That's wickedness, to trek in bush for 35minutes is strolling? even if you bought a bike later, why will you use such term and who do you think you want to confuse?
With only the above I feel the op might be a bit right, seems someone is trying to sugar coat sufferings. You can say that again! That employer must have had a rough childhood and adulthood that he thinks 35 minutes walking is strolling sigh. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Nairalanders Never You Go For This Farm Job At Ibadan (link) by yemi1504: 8:12pm On Jan 17, 2023 |
Vulcanheph: As far as I'm concerned, this matter no concern me... But somehow I feel as if the OP is speaking the truth.
Some employers in this country are straight up evil... And you can see the way that the accused is desperately trying to save his face that what that OP is saying is true. For those asking the OP of proof should remember that Jobs are scarce and if an employer in this country has vacancy for a good job , he definitely wouldn't need to advertise it because people will definitely search him out (from referrals, link ups etc) So the mere fact that he's advertising such a lucrative job gives me "cause of worry".
I know things are hard in the country currently and unemployment is high but don't let desperation make you enter a job you'll regret. Exactly! That's how desperation made me work for one of these microfinance institutions owned by a so-called Deeper Life Pastor who believes your resignation letter must be signed by his BM before he releases your pay for that month as if it is modern day slavery. Till today, my 30k is still with them no remedy. With that, how do you expect me to ever take this church people serious when their behaviours do not reflect Christ? |

It is a disgrace that physically imposing center-backs in Maguire and Lindelof are not starting this kind of game. Both are deadwood and should be sold in the summer.
