Music/Radio / Re: What Nigerians Do Not Know About The Bet Cypher? - Save Nigerian Hip Hop by yemmyma: 7:57am On Oct 19, 2011
I know we all have our own opinions, did you see my last paragraph of the post?

We Nigerians want to make our artistes go global and we don't push the ones that can do the job, we keep pushing the home based winners. That formula won't work.

Obviously, Ice Prince will win best rap album in all the award shows this year to the next. That means we should start pushing him to Roc Nation to sign him? Lets stop deceiving ourselves.

Modenine was clear in his delivery and he has lived in Nigeria since he was a child. He doesn't even speak pidgin english well some years ago yet he has good rap skills, word plays and what have you. Just buy his album and see whats in it. He probably has rapped over the widest range of topic in our society, from football, scam, social vices and all. He did everything just well. Why the beef?

M.I., no one was a better M.I. fan than me when he started coming up. I reference his first single and video 'crowd mentality' as a class act. He still has not disappointed me but when i see people say he is  better than Mode, then i have a problem with that. Let him enjoy his time, he deserves it and i am still a fan.

But remember, when Mode  9 had his chance in the past, he enjoyed it as well taking awards and churning out good videos, go check out Nigerian girls, cry, elbow room, those songs have nothing in common and they all represent pure genius!

Counter my arguments again,  I will get back but before then check out his Otis remix with terry tha rapman counter me again after listening, http://www.notjustok.com/2011/10/19/exclusive-terry-tha-rapman-modenine-otis/ [flash=200,200]http://www.notjustok.com/2011/10/19/exclusive-terry-tha-rapman-modenine-otis/[/flash]
Music/Radio / What Nigerians Do Not Know About The Bet Cypher? - Save Nigerian Hip Hop by yemmyma: 6:17am On Oct 17, 2011
I decided to write this after seeing the Nigerian BET cypher and thought it was time everybody stopped been a mediocre if we want to promote Nigerian music abroad. After listening to all the rappers, y'all will agree with me on this,

BET cypher is not about finding rhymes from nursery books. It is much about your creativity with story telling and how you can find good word plays to push it. I looked at all the cyphers and i find the Nigerian cypher the weakest(I am Nigerian lol). It just hurt that the truth is not always supported in Nigeria just the way our politicians use bias to put people to lead industries when we have world class managers everywhere in Nigeria and abroad.  If we really want to set a bench mark for hiphop in Nigeria, we should get a cue from Mode. He leads the next rapper in Nigeria with a long stretch.

Mode 9 - I got introduced to his songs by a friend who was a big fan. After hesitating at first, i decided to give it a try and that was it. For years, i have seen arguments on who tops him in Nigerian hip hop but i am ashamed to see that we Nigerians, though claim to know one or two things about rap are just plain commercial. We don't appreciate conscious music. I wonder how Asa managed to sell albums in the country.  He is straight classic and would go pound for pound with any American MC.

M.I. - On the average, he did not disappoint compared to the other guys, but i think he was trying too hard. A real hardcore rap is mostly about punchlines and fluidity rather than vocabularies. M.I's intro was good though. (Reference to Joe Budden on the Slim 2.0 cypher). I won't put him on another cypher even though i like him as a Nigerian artist not world stage. I will replace him with Terry tha Rapman.

Sauce Kid - My love for sauce kid does not go beyond rap. I just like him as a rapper and i can acknowledge his ability but he always come to most as an underperformer rather than one with no rap skills. He did not do badly on the cypher and he managed to have a story line rather than finding rhymes like others were doing. I still think he has a place to do another cypher if the chance comes through.

Ice Prince - A rare combination of poor rapability and childish punchlines. NO storylines. He reminded me of some 9ice's songs where gathers adages from wherever to make a song. He DEFINITELY has no place on another cypher. Infact, he should never win a rap album award. Its damaging to our hiphop music. I will replace him with Muna

X.O. - To most people, he came as a disappointment on the cypher after so much hype. I really don't think he did that bad rapability wise and story lines, its just that he wasn't audible enough. There is something wrong with his accent. It came bad on that particular cypher. If he would make another cypher, he will have to be supervised. I will replace him with Rico White

Naeto C - I love him as a Nigerian artist, i don't think he has what it takes to go on the world stage. He is only going to be a bomb waiting to explode. He should feed us with more swag in naija and we will be appreciative of that.

So who would make my cypher list in Nigeria. My judgement is based on story line, punchlines, accent, and fluidity. I think the people who makes my list are

Mode 9
Sauce Kid
Terry that Rap Man
Rico White
Muna

If you think my opinion lacks credibility, share your opinion ( i respect it) but don't be bias as well in the second place.

Watch the video here,

Modenine is the best of them all, IF you think otherwise, then you don't know crap.

Mode been consistent and he will go pound for pound with any American MC, just buy his album and see, but all these other boys are rhyming. Rap is not only about finding rhymes like Ice Prince, Naeto C.

Why should M.I introduce Mode? Mode should introduce all of them cos he is the boss.

The positive about cypher, it brought unity to the beef. So i am going to see if there is some collabo.

My two cents
Nairaland / General / Don Jazzy, J. Jags, El Dee, Might Not Be The Best Nigerian Producer: But Who? by yemmyma: 11:38am On Jun 22, 2011
Well, i am a very big fan of Nigerian music and very up-to-date with new music as well.

But i still have the opinion that JJC skillz *might* have had more beautiful songs than any Nigerian producer ever.

If you feel different about this, be constructive and don't just say because Don Baba J has signed to G.O.O.D music, that he is best, lets compare okei,

If you don't know titles of the songs JJC has produced, we'll bring that up in the discussion.

Career / Re: Logistics Or Supply Chain Management by yemmyma: 9:02pm On May 26, 2011
I think that definition by Anibi even though is correct is a bit old in SC context. In recent times, it has been expanded as the concept of SC develops in industries.

Hey all,

The best day of my life came when i found out what Logistics is. I had no idea what i was going to study until i got to my first class. When i had the admission, i had no one to explain to me what Logistics was in Nigeria. Well, i think we just don't use this <a class="ktg6us78hf8vdu7" href="#"><a class="ktg6us78hf8vdu7" href="#">job</a></a> function in Nigeria.

After studying in Logistics for 3 years with various company visits, its been an eye opener how companies use this function to reduce cost in this global business environment. I always thought what the prospect was for me if I want to work in Nigeria. All of the best practices, I.T systems, and techniques, what company can offer me the opportunity to use these things. No doubt, i enjoyed my what i studied. It shies away from the normal things we study in Nigeria, Economics, Business, Account and all, its a breath of fresh air for me.

For all those who want to discuss more on this SCM/Logistics, i am available to learn and share whatever i can with you. I am a member of the Council of Supply Chain Manager (CSCMP) USA, Society of Logistics Engineer (SOLE) USA.

In fact, my studies is titled Logistics Engineering, this also involves some elements of Military Logistics, Integrated Logistics Support, Logistics Support Analysis, Systems Engineering, and then the normal Supply Chain Management things, Mat. Management, Logistics, Transport and so on.
It is a good path for anybody interested in it. I am sure the dream job will come to you if you have the right skills in it especially as we hope Nigeria's infrastructure improves to be able to carry out these activities. Logistics will fail if infrastructures like Electricity, Good roads are missing.

Let me hear from you who is willing to talk more on this topic.

I'm Out,

Y
